Has anyone ever got good results with an autorouter?

Hi,
I just read a recent mesaage about using the autorouter.
For the last 20 years i have been in designing PCB's, and I never met anyone that uses an autorouter...
So I wondered if any of you ever used any (ultiboard or other) with good results,
and if you did, what type of circuit was it?
and is it possible to share a picture with us?
I'm just curious...
Stressed user

I have gotten excellent results with the ultiboard 9 autorouter and understand that the newer versions are even better.

  • Has anyone ever had a problem with their iphone 4 not syncing and/or writing a backup file?

Has anyone ever had a problem with their iphone 4 not syncing and/or writing a backup file?  Itunes locks up when i attempt a sync as well as when I transfer my purchases from my phone to Itunes. I'm running Itunes 10.4.1 on iOS 4.3.5.  All of this is running on an 8 year old hp pavillian laptop running XP Pro that is fully updated. Could my phone have a bug or a hardware problem. Are there any known problems with  iOS 4.3.5?  Pretty frustrating problem so I'm hoping that someone has heard of this and can offer some suggestions on a solution.  Thanks a bunch.

Did you used to have service and now suddenly you don't?
This happened to me a few years back, and several other iPhone users in my neighborhood, and after a while on the phone with AT&T they figured out that a technician had recently adjusted the receiver/sender on the tower and it was slightly off. They sent them back up and I actually had a better signal after than I did before it went out.
I would call AT&T and explain the issue you are having and see if they can fix it.
If you never had service there then like wjosten said it's probably just a bad zone.
Hope you get it sussed out.

  • Has anyone ever had a problem with their screen going all "choppy" for lack of a better word. It happens when I go from one window to the next and they sort of mesh together.

In addition to doing this today my mouse went all crazy and it was like I had no control over it. Once I restarted my computer it was fine. I took it into the genius bar a few weeks ago, but they couldn't find anything wrong with it. If anyone has experienced something similar OR has any idea what in the world might be causing this please let me know!

Did anyone ever suggest you reset your PRAM?
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
Also might want to try resetting the SMC, although I
    doubt there's an issue there.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304123
I'm getting tired of people who supposedly know what
they're doing simply guessing that resinstalling the
OS might solve the issue. It's like trying to dissect
a frog with a sledge hammer, and wondering why you
didn't learn anything about anatomy in the process.
These sorts of things, although bizarre, should be
(and probably are) fixable without major surgery.
Thanks for the suggestion... but I think my first question would be why these parameters would need re-setting? This is a new machine... It has never been shut down hard. It is used at most 10 hours per week... mostly using Office 2004 for MAC. I need to figure this out as I will soon need it as a Cs2/CS3 - Aperture workhorse.
I too agree that it is best not to use a sledge when a scalpel is needed... but as a novice to the MAC world I may have been misled by Apple support. I seems to have fixed the symptoms ( some) but appears NOT to have addressed the cause... which is what I am after.
Would TechTool Pro detect a bad HD or RAM?
    Thanks....

  • RAM: Has anyone else had good luck with Corsair?

First of all, thanks Bas and Scottg26 for pointing out the correct version of Memtest86+.
I know that Corsair has a crappy rep around this forum when it comes to the Athlon 64.  However, I've had nothing but good luck so far (knock on wood).  I've been up and running for almost a month now with no BSODs and the computer has booted every time so far.  I'm using Corsair TwinX 1024 LL in slots 1 and 2 with the speed settings on Auto in the BIOS with a voltage of 2.6.  I've run Prime95 for up to 10 hours or so with no errors and I just ran one pass of Memtest86+ v1.00 with no errors.  It took 18:50 and showed the following settings:
    Memory: 1024M  1447MB/S
    Settings: RAM: 200Mhz(DDR 400) / CAS:2-3-2-6 / Single Channel (64 Bits)
However, I will point out that the only real world test it's really passed so far is playing Call of Duty.
Here's a link to the actual RAM on NewEgg:  http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-145-435&catalog=147&manufactory=BROWSE&depa=1
Is anyone else happy with their Corsair RAM so far or did I just get extremely lucky?

Yeah They are neat at that. Question is how well do they overclock?
I'm getting a 28Mhz fsb overclock out of these dimms that I have and They are used I admit, But like the seller said they are great overclockers!

  • Has anyone ever had a problem with usage calualtor not working, got a data over charge

Been keeping track of my data usage from the general folder in settings. This past month I went over 3G's and when I tally up their recordings to mine it does not add up. Anyone else notice this problem.tks

If you aren't receiving password reset emails and your security questions don't work, someone has hijacked your account.
    This happened to me.
You need to use Expresslane to contact iTunes support to regain access to your account ASAP.

  • Has anyone ever made Kerberos work with AFP reliably?

I've been working on this for a couple of weeks. And while I've figured a bunch of stuff out, I'm fairly certain at this point that it's literally impossible to make AFP work using Kerberos.
So it would be great if I could get some feedback that this is possible in any way?
My question is, has any person here ever successfully made AFP work with Kerberos, as defined by:
    1. In Server Admin, under AFP > Settings > Access the Authentication setting is set to "Kerberos"
    2. You have been able to run your server(s) with this setting for an extended period of time, greater than two months, and are still running this way.
Please only respond positively if you have literally done this, not if you have heard of it being done, or wish to do it, or have read in a manual somewhere that it can be done.
And if you have done it, and you have good resources we might not have found using google or the os x server manuals, feel free to point them out.
Sometimes questions are pulled off the site because they are not specific enough, so I want to make my question clear. Should I continue down the path of trying to make this work (as evidenced by other people having successfully made it work) or should I give up on it?
My hunch is that a lot of people think they have Kerberos working because Server Admin > Open Directory > Overview says it's working (as mine does) and they think they have SSO. But really they just checked the "remember my login" box when logging in to a share and Kerberos isn't doing a thing, their Mac just automates the login process every time they go to a share. If they set AFP to use only Kerberos their network would break just like anyone else who tries to do that.

    Yes. This most certainly works.
The areas that you need to focus is DNS and time, likely in that order. Assuming DNS is set up properly and remains that way, then you may be running into the lazy mDNSResponder issues that are plaguing early releases of 10.6. If this is the case, then tools like nslookup and dig will return the proper lookup results, but when trying to resolve to a service, the connection fails as it is misdirected. This happens most frequently on split DNS installations and has improved dramatically with the release of 10.6.3.
Beyond that, make sure your time on all workstations agree with the time on the domain server. If you have Mac Pros, those Xeon chips like to drift. If you have a time skew then Kerberos auth with fail and you will be dropped back to standard auth or no auth if you only permit kerb. This can become more complicated if your domain server and your file server are different machines.
Hope that helps. This is doable and has been since the 10.4 days. Yes, 10.6 had some release pains, but so do all OS releases. 10.6.3 is now deployable in all but the most custom environments.

  • Has anyone ever got versioning to work??

    Hi everyone,
I've spent the last good while trying to get the versioning download protocol to work so that only the changed files are downloaded using a jardiff. I've seen these messages before on this forum and I have never found a successfull answer. Rather than first off posting the contents of my entire version.xml file, jnlp file etc, I would REALLY appreciate it if anyone could tell me if they have actually got this to work.
thanks very much for any help on this at all.
    Brian

ScheduleWorld.com uses this and it works perfectly.
There are bugs related to foreign characters and the versioning servlet will bomb because of this. It's 100% reproducable, and I logged a bug but I never heard back from Sun (maybe 3 months ago).

  • Has anyone had any GOOD luck with FileVault?

I'm reading the horror stories here on the forum about FileVault. I just purchased a new Macbook Pro a few days ago. I'm running Leopard 10.5.2. I tried using FileVault for the first time.
I haven't had any problems at all.
I like my files to be secure. Everyone does... I just don't want to run into any problems down the road.
Is anyone here using FileVault and not encountering any problems? Should I just leave good enough alone and keep using it?
    Thanks!

I completely disagree with a brody. I've been using FileVault for years. I need it to protect proprietary data on my system. I want the backup to be encrypted. Backups should be encrypted in my opinion. There is no access to the data without a key I possess. Have you read Bruce Schneier's opinion on these matters?
    http://www.schneier.com/essay-199.html
The plural of anecdote is not data. Of course you'll hear horror stories here. There is no substitute for a good backup/restore strategy. If you can't handle backup and secure storage of data and passwords, than FileVault is not for you.
Backups are easier with FileVault than without. I can quickly backup my home directory with a simple tar command, and restoring is quick and easy, too.
With the new format in leopard, there are less than 200 files to read and write. I've restored more than once and I have never lost a file. It's easy to migrate an entire home directory to a new account, too. I've done it. Here's the tar command I use to backup my FileVault-protected home dir. I run it from a separate administrative account's home directory:
    sudo tar -v -C .. -c -f ./xxxx.tar xxxx
replace xxxx with your "short" user name. The '-C ..' makes the working directory of the tar /Users on an OS X system. The backup is written to xxxx.tar. The tar file easily be copied or burned to a dvd.
I toggle FileVault on/off to ensure the data integrity. It's easy, and takes about ten minutes, so I do it once/wk. I'm going to do it after I post this.
Are there any reports of "data corruption" or loss with the new sparsebundle format in leopard? I'm not aware of any.

  • Has anyone had a good experience with iPhoto 6?

After reading all these posts, I'm afraid to install iPhoto 6. Are these problems an aberration, or are most mac users experience these problems?

iPhoto 6 has installed and run well for me,, EXCEPT,, the only new feature that I've tried is Photocasting. I made a Photocast, and then subscribed to it myself to test how it would work. I was able to do it although I was surprised how long it took,, about 45 minutes to upload (36 images.. and I have cable/broadband). It downloaded much quicker of course, about 15 minutes. Then,, I "announced the address to 120 friends and acquaintances. Out of all of them (these are people who ALL respond back to my communications right away) so far I have heard from about 5 - 10, only ONE of them could figure out how to view it. So essentially, I annoyed everyone with the product. Sounds cool in the Apple demonstration,, but as a practical matter,, probably best to skip using it. I certainly hope that the other iWeb applications work better but I haven't tried them yet.

  • Has anyone ever got the error message "illegal region number"?

it happens everytime i stop recording something, and it never did it before today. and do you guys think this firepod is a perfect match with GB?

I've only seen that error once in 3+ years of using GB, and it was on a crazy project combining 3 separate projects into a 4th.
I spent 3 days trying to track down the problem and eventually gave up and reverted to a previous version of my project because I could neither track down the cause, nor fix the problem.
The one thing I can tell you with absolute certainty is that it has nothing to do with your FirePod.

  • Has anyone ever got 640x400 resolution to work?

I have spent all day with this trying different mode lines in switchresx with no success. Anyone have any luck with it?

640 X 480 is the lowest resolution the MacBook supports. I don't think you will be able to force it into a resolution it's not designed for.

  • Has anyone ever got correct prints from the Canon CP series?

CP-220 printer. Prints fine right from my Canon camera, but from iPhoto, I never get borderless, centered prints. This is a 4x6 dye-sub printer. So after wrangling with all the settings in the page setup, print boxes, etc., the prints still don't fill the print area.
Before I give up and just go back to sending the photos back to the camera to print (yuck...), I was looking for someone to say "yes! it does work" or "no way, don't waste your time..."
    thanks

Interesting read. I went to download the latest drivers from canon, and they are stuffed using a OS9-era Stuffit program. I had to find a mac with OS9 on it just to un-stuff the "OSX only" drivers! Nice Canon!
anyway. I will try loading them in. The main issue I decided is in fact that the photos are not the exact 4x6 proporation, so iPhoto is just centering on the page the best it can. I read the posts about cropping them in iPhoto, but that seems real lame. From the camera, I can actually move the crop box up or down, or side to side to fill the print with what I want.
So, not thrilled with that. iPhoto should have the most robust printer support to be truly a great program. So, I'm pretty sure I'm still back at square one.
    thanks for the link though.
