my wife and i have been sharing an apple id and i now want to provide her with her own. since the icloud has been launched any app she downloads i get and vice versa. You can share iTunes content within the same household, so if you get your own Apple ID/iTunes account, you can continue to use content obtained using your Wife's account. Any app updates to apps obtained using the wife's Id must be done using that ID. Just authorize the computer for the new Apple ID/iTunes account: Store>Authorize this Computer. You can switch iTunes accounts on the phone by going to: Settings>Store...tap the ID shown...sign out...sign back in with the ID you want to use.

Has anyone ever heard of hearing aids in the same bag as an ipad causing the iPad to reset?

We have one user who's iPad keeps resetting itself and deleting all user setting and data. This has happened several times, we have even traded out the iPad for a different one, same issue. Apparently it is working when they put it into the case, but several times now when they take it out, it has been reset and is looking for the itunes connection and to be setup again. We have asked about possible outside interference, magnets, etc. The only thing that was mentioned today was that this user wears hearing aids and that they often put them in the same bag as the iPad after a meeting. I know this is grasping at straws, but has anyone heard of this casuing any problems before?

There are a few ways to remotely wipe an iDevice. One of them is if it is connected to MS Exchange. (Administrators can wipe the device and you can do it through webmail) Maybe something bizzare is happening with that.

i have an iphone that is 35 days old and somehow the charging port is messed up. the store wants $ 160 to turn in claim and we did nothing wrong to the phone. has anybody bought the $15 part online and changed this out themselves? it looks easy on utube but am tired of throwing money out the window.

If your iPhone is 35 days old it is still under warranty. You can call Apple Care if you're not near an Apple store to send you in a mailer.
If there is truly a manufacturing defect, your phone will be replace free of charge.

Has anyone ever gotten an IBM FRU where the tray number doesn't match drive FRU?

I ordered an IBM FRU 42D0638 and received an IBM FRU 42D0648 in a tray for the 42D0638. I have been searching all afternoon and have found online that there are conflicting posts about performance differences (mainly cache and seek time) but they have been from Ebay postings or other questionable sources. I'm using the drive for my IBM System x3550 M2 server. Anyone run into this before and have any advice or thoughts?

We’ve given them thousands of dollars. Aside from the current empty Touch, there was another for my son, an iPod classic, a Nano, and most recently, a Mini with WiFi, also my son’s. They've worked great, with barely an exception. Plus more songs and apps than I could count. I feel like we’ve been good customers. But it seems like it’s a one-way street with these automatons. So I'm trying to see if anyone's ever gotten any thing back. Thanks.

3 GS freezes to white screen occasionally after hitting home button. Has anyone ever experienced this?

Has anyone ever experienced a white screen that freezes then turns black after hitting the home button?

I have had intermittent white screens for some time (as in three years). It happens when the phone "wakes up". I hae lost calls that I could not answer because the screen was white. It has come up white when I hit the home screen. Not always, but with random frequency. All I have to do it hit the power button (I do not have to power off, just hit the button) and reopen the phone and it is gone. I know the phone is functioning under this screen, I just cannot do anything.
My first 3GS had the problem so severly I called Apple. After two and a half hours of resets of various kinds, they decided the phone was bad and sent my a replacement. It was better, but it still has the issue. I have gotteb used to it and am waiting until I can get an upgrade to the phone in the hopes it takes care of it. In the meantime, I occasionally doa search here and un the intertubes to see if someone else has the issue and a solution.
My suspicion has been that some app I downloaded causes it, but I have deleted apps and cannot get rid of the issue.

Double-tap the screen with three fingers, then go to Settings and disable the Zoom function so you don't accidentally trigger it again.

Has anyone ever noticed that random function on the iphone is not so random? I have this feeling that everytime I skip or go back it resets the random cycle and maybe 20 songs later the songs I heard maybe 2 hours are playing again.
Like itunes is there a way to make it more random?

I am using smart playlists and it does the same thing. It will still eventually repeat. The only time I get true random is when I play in alpanumerical order. The problem with that, I listen to music 14 hours a day 5 days week. Gets pretty predictible what song is coming up. My ipod did a better job at random but I used it so much that when in Random Mode it drains the battery faster and gets annoying charging it every 4 hours.

What makes you think a replacement "will most likely go bad in the future"? Some have had to go back more than once; many haven't. (And many have not gone in at all.) There are many iBook users out there, happily iBooking away without any knowledge of the iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program because they've never had a problem.
Get it replaced, free, NOW, and worry about the future when it gets here.

You are aware that there the app may have downloaded and been placed on the second screen. Not the main one. Can you swipe to the right to see if it is there?

I have heard of them, and have heard good things about them.
HOWEVER, I have also heard great thigns about SquareTrade, and they are only $99, for 2 years, not just one year. And, it is a $50 deductible with them as well.

You cannot deauthorize computers you do not have access to EXCEPT for when you reach your max authorizations of 5 and then only once per year.
If you need the authorizations back (you have 5 computers?) simply deauthorize all (click here -> About authorizations and deauthorizations)
