Has anyone ever succesfully used the bios recovery feature?

i have a p35 platinum that im working with, cant get it to do right. so i was wondering anyone. ever? on any board? seems like as much as i paid for this thing it would work.

it depends on the severeness of your system. In most case, where BIOS is destroyed/corrupted completely, there is really no way for recovery except changing the BIOS chip. Some the damange is not that worse and it's still possible to do the recovery.
and yes, it did work for me before. and of course, it didn't work for some of my systems too.

  • Has anyone tried to use the Intel 750 PCIe AIC in a Z640 Workstation

I am really only interested in using this as a second disc , not the main OS Boot disk; as I have heard there could be a problem having the right NVMe Bios or UEFI .
I was advised by a reseller not to do this as HP tested recommended discs for heat generation and airflow. But that seemed strange, as one can have 2 Nvidia K2200s in the chassis and they each max at 68 watts, and each PCIe slot has a max limit of 75 watts. So surely using the Intel 750 which has a max power consumption of 24 watts should generate a lot less heat?
That assumes my mikey mouse knowledge of physics is watt equate to heat generation or are SSDs different?
I could understand it if the Intels were say 68 watts - i.e. It could then be down to cooling airflow. Or is the intelligent cooling system advised of known components and therefore reacts differently i.e. Maybe boosts the fan speed or something.
Hence would love to hear from anyone who has actually done it - how did it work out? Or someone who really understand these boxes at a deep technical level, who could rationalise why this is not a good thing ........ Other than the HP reseller doesnt sell the Intel 750s but does sell the overpriced, relatively speaking underperforming Z Turbo drives.

I have not done this but did look after Macs in a class room enviroment. I think your concerns are valid, you may be making a difficult situtation worse.
If no one come back with a definite answer, you could try a small number as a pilot, and keep them on machines next to each other. That may give you a better understanding of any likey problems.
What are the the problems with the wired headphones, cable breaks? If so woud headsets with detachable cables be an easier answer?

  • Has anyone tried to use the Online Edition of Quickbooks and Tiger?

I work from home as an editor. My employer has just set up payroll using the Online Edition of Quickbooks. When I tried to to login I got this message from Quickbooks:
"For business and tech reasons we designed Online Edition specifically to run on Windows. We do not offer an alternative version at this time. Customers have reported using a PC emulator, such as Microsoft's Virtual PC, to run Online Edition on their Macs. This may decrease application performance in terms of speed. We encourage you to research this approach to see whether it will work for you."
    Has anyone tried this?
Also, they set up Online Edition to run with Internet Explorer. I use Safari.

i donot know the server he used in his example. All you need is to
replace the server deployment descriptors he used to weblogic descriptors. then rebuild. go to admin tool--localhost:7001/console
and login with weblogic as username and password
then on ejb you can then deploy the ejb.read on the console.

  • Has anyone tried to use the example XMLResourceAdapter?

I get various java errors when trying to use the sample XML file resource adapter code supplied in the /idm2525/REF folder.
I believe my java environment is Ok. I compiled the XMLResourceAdapter.java as per instructions. I get the 3 class files.
I add these to the IDM configuartion as per instructions and add the custom resource adapter again following instructions.
Things went ok. I can see the XML resource in my resource list. The only problems I get are when I try to use this resource.
When adding the XML File resource to an existing IdM account I get error:
    java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: com.waveset.object.ResourceInfo.getPassword()Lcom/waveset/security/authn/EncryptedData;
Has anyone any clue where to start looking to correct this?

    Hi Eric
    thanks for your answer.
As far as I know, the INTERNAL CPU to GPU data transfer speed is way faster than the speed you can obtain via thunderbolt, so it doesn't matter what GPU you put in an external thunderbolt case, you won't benefit on any speed increase.
But still when I goggle this subject I find people saying that they edit and render much faster with an external thunderbolt case and GPU.
So I thought about trying to find the "truth" here on this forum.
Anyone else wants to share his/her experience?
    Thanks

  • Using SUMIFS on iPad Numbers has anyone had trouble using the keypad relational symbols in the "conditions" field?

The iPad Numbers has a very nice data entry keyboard for expressing conditions.  They have the usual =, <, > but also have the single symbol version of >=, <= and <> (as an equals with a slash through it), however, if you try to use these keypad keys in the conditions field of the SUMIFS, it returns a syntax error.  After seeing some examples of Numbers '09 I discovered I had to express a relation inside double quotes, " ", which means the text keyboard is displayed and the very nice data entry keyboard is gone along with the nice symbols.  Has anyone seen this and am I doing something wrong or is this another bug?  Thanks.

The xxxIF functions have (for as long as I have used them) required a text string as the argument unless it was equal to a value of a cell, with no logical operators. so it is not something new, its been that way for decades and I personally think Apple might have done it differently if they didnt have to maintain compatiability with older spreadsheet programs.
i.e. not a bug, ensures backward compatability.

The Juniper VPN is a SSL-based VPN solution whereas the native client supports L2TP and PPTP only - in other words they're completely different beasts.
That said, you shouldn't have any issue connecting to the SSL-VPN. I do it almost daily. You may need to be running the latest (or at least, recent) software on the Juniper box, though - earlier versions of the Juniper software had problems.

  • HT5290 Has anyone downloaded and used the Crucial Mac System Scanner? any problems?

The Crucial Mac System Scanner does not have a Gatekeeper ID.  Has anyone had any adverse effects from using this application to determine hardwre upgrade compatibility?  In other words, is it safe?

Curcal.com is a well respected Mac memory vendor. It is highlly unlikely they would do anything stupid to cost them that well earned reputation, not to mention the business they would loose
And yes, I've run that app.
I've also purchased RAM from them.  The most recent a 16GB upgrade for my 27" iMac.  Before that a 3GB upgrde to my Mac mini, and before that a 6GB upgrade to my Wife's Macbook Pro.
MacSales.com (OWC) is another well respected Mac memory vendor.  MacSales.com also has videos on installing RAM upgrades.  So does YouTube.com

  • Has someone already succesfully used the ni i2C library to read/write an eeprom with ni pxi 6551 on labview?

    Hi,
I'm trying to read/write an eeprom with an i2c protocol and ni pxi 6551 module.
At first, I tried to simply read the eeprom, because i know i am expecting 11111111 as a response, but it did not work.
So I tried something easier, and I succesfully wrote a pcf8574ap.
    But i can't read it.
Seems like I am not able to "hear" the answer; when the sda line should be filled with an 8bit information, it remains at Z-state.
And because I am using the i2c library, i think there might be a problem with this library, or i am doing something wrong.
    Hoping someone has an answer.
    Johanna

  • Has anyone EVER successfully used BlackBerry Bold BlueTooth DUN w/ iBook ?

    Greetings all,
I have spent days trying to get my iBook G4 running OS 10.4.11 to successfully connect to the internet via BlueTooth through my BB Bold's supposed dial-up networking capabilities. I have followed endless threads in multiple Mac, Black, Crack, and other forums and have watched countless video demonstrations. None of the info I have found has worked, probably because every source of info involved either a different BlackBerry model, a different Mac model, or a different OS version.
I get the same Internet Connect error every time: "A modem error occurred. Please check your settings and try again."
I have tried multiple dial-up isp's and multiple access numbers. I do not claim to be an expert, but I have worked as a network administrator, have set up multiple network devices, and have a pretty good understanding of internet and general network technologies and this is just driving me insane.
If anyone actually knows how to accomplish this task, I would be eternally grateful for step-by-step instructions or even just some insight into how I might determine what type of "modem error" occurred!
Please do not tell me to purchase an iPhone or a tethering plan. If those were viable options at the moment, I would not be wasting our time here. Thanks!

Ditto on both points. Meanwhile I use the solution of a third party backup.

  • Apple should really come up with a dual sim card. Has anyone tried to use the dusl simcard adaptor?

I see many ads for the dual sim adaptor, also it is being sold on some flights. Has anyone tried one? Instead of putting better cameras on their iPhones, Apple should really concentrate on making a phone with dual sim cards ( without asking exhorbitant prices) which will make travelling so much easier.

  • Has anyone every try using the iplanet portal server radius authentication module with cryptoCard?

We are using the easyRadius server from CryptoCARD. When we run the radius server in debug mode, it appears ips is sending multiple access-request message. Also, the server is coming back with a challenge which we are not expecting.

    yes,
we did basic integration where the authentication will be done using siteminder. The trick is to protect the portal server web server and not the gateway. You also need to add a new authentication module for siteminder in the portal using ipsadmin. We are protecting the login html page only. We couldn't protect the desktop because it's built using servlets.

  • Has anyone ever tried ordering the battery from here?

I apologize to everyone for posting again. I just thought maybe this would be helpful? Am canceling my shipment to apple for the battery replacement and ordering it from here instead. The video is good and easy to understand and it didn't look complicated in opening up the iPod. I usually order most of my accessories from this site, so I trust it so far. Hmmm....a huge risk here eh? At least it's better than paying $72.
    http://www.theistore.com/newer3g.html#

I've bought quite a few things from Newer Tech - though not an iPod battery. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them. And you are right, the replacement isn't all that hard. Opening the case is a bit fiddly and if your fingers are short and stubby like mine plugging the new battery in can be challenging. (I use a pair of non-conducting forceps.)
Personally, I think you've made the right choice. You have a known working iPod without issues and replacing the battery isn't difficult. I think it is a better solution than getting an iPod of unknown provenance.

  • Has anyone ever plugged into the airport express to get online?

Want to plug my xbox 360 into the airport express to get online so I don't have to move anything around.
Right now my modem & router is in bedroom, & the airport express is in the living room (w/xbox and speakers) to extend wireless signal and throw music to speakers in living room.
I can move it, just lazy and then won't be able to use speakers, and don't want to buy xbox wireless adapter.....
    It's already a bridge, it would make sense that I could plug in? maybe not ;}
    airport express/ aluminum powerbook g4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

If you have the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) set up as a remote base station in a WDS configuration, then, yes, you can connect the Xbox 360 to the AX's Ethernet port for Internet connectivity. If it's setup as a wireless client, then no.
