Has anyone ever used web start in large scale ?

Dear friends,
have you ever used some web start application in large scale ?
i.e., have you distributed some real application with web-start?
Im doing such experience here and Im a bit afraid about several problems in the final user machine - such as java version, browser incompatibility and mainly with the ugly WebStart cache problems.

can you give a bit more detail on what exactly you're afraid of? is this a www application? internal business app? etc.
for example you can force your java version in java web-start,etc...

  • Has anyone ever used their iPad to remotely connect to a iMac and use programs like Photoshop on their iPad?

    Hi everyone,
I had an iMac at home, but I've recently taken on some freelance work and they would like me to come into the office every now and then. I don't want to purchase a laptop and I know you can remotely connect to your desktop with an iPad, but I need to know if anyone has ever done that and successfully used programs like Photoshop on their iPad. Is there lag time when trying to use the software? Or is it just not possible and I should consider getting a laptop again?
    Thank you!

iPads are not exact laptop replacements. If you need to be using Photoshop, then buy a normal laptop computer.
Using a remote access app on an IPad or any tablet conputer  to remote access your computer to operate will be quite a lot slower and clumsier than just having a laptop with a normal OS and Photoshop application installed.

  • Has anyone ever used this CF8 host?

    Hi,
I'm currently using HostMySite - but it's just for my
personal site and it seems like I'm paying just too much for what I
use it for $23.95 USD (about £12 GBP) per month.
    This company (
    http://www.hostingfuse.com/index.php/fuseaction/hosting.webhosting
) seem to be Australian, offering reasonable CF8 hosting for $10
    AUD (about £4.5 GBP).
Just wanted to know if anyone has used them and what they're
like? Or if someone has alternative solutions?
    Thanks,
    Mikey.

You may only want an Australia Host but I like
    http://www.gearhost.com They are
    located in CO
and have very reasonable prices. The nice thing is
that you can use CF, ASP or PHP with any account.

  • Has anyone ever used an invisibleShield on a Mac laptop?

I have just ordered a White Macbook and am concerned about the yellow discoloration issue. I was thinking of ordering an invisibleShield from www.shieldzone.com and I wondered if anyone had any experience with the product? They just released the 13" Macbook shield in the last day or so.

are you sure heating cause discolorization? I doubt it because iBook has the same materials on surface as well. even macbook heating get more than iBook, it's not too much higher to damage the surface.
by the way, as far as you keep vent clear, invidisible shield will be fine. I just visited that site. there are three options they sell. but I don't recommend that you buy bottom shield. for top plate where Apple logo is glow, and touchpad, palm rest, it will be fine. I also consider to get one, too.

  • Has anyone ever used Windows Server failover | SQL failover?

We run a SQL Failover cluster and it has to be the same.
All nodes in a failover cluster must be of the same platform, either 32-bit or 64-bit, and must run the same operating system edition and version. Also, 64-bit SQL Server editions must be installed on 64-bit hardware running the 64-bit versions of Windows operating systems.

I was looking to see if anyone has exposure to this and if you can actually run failover with two disparate OS's, ie. Server 2008 R2 and Server 2012.

  • Has anyone ever used a Yamaha Robot Controller (SRC-X)?

I just inherited this controller and I'd like to use it with LabVIEW. I just don't know where to start with it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

        Alyssa,
I have been able to get communication working with the ERCX.  It was fairly straight-forward and so I'm wondering if you have the correct serial settings.  9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, odd parity, XON/XOFF handshaking.  I leave the termination character enabled so that the and the default termination character will work for this "\n".  The controller actually sends back a "\r\n" termination, but with the "\n" last, this sould work.  I then call the VISA Read and tell it to read up to 10k bytes.  Once it finds that termination character, though, it will stop the read.
I've attached two screenshots that might be helpful.  You probably already are aware of this since you've had the communication successfully via HyperTerminal, but in the LabVIEW sense, it's helpful to take your "Write Buffer" string input and set it so that it's in "\" Codes Display mode.  This will allow you to manually type in the "\r\n" you need at the end of your command.  Also, each command starts with the "@".
Let me know if I can be of further help.
    Jim

  • Has anyone ever used Dynaflo LIQUID-ARMOR?

It's discounted through Apple User Groups... anyone know anything about it. Anyone used it? I use iKlear once a week (or as needed) but this is something else.
    Thanks,
    Clinton

Clinton.  I just bought and tried this on a recommendation a few days ago.  It seem's simple enough to use.  You simply wipe it on, let it cure, then buff off your screen with the included micro-fiber cloth.  I can tell there is something there but I can't say 100% that it is actually providing "additional" protection.  It does not change the appearance of the screen or add any "tackiness" to the screen.  The screen looks as good with it on, as with it off.  Exactly what I want as I do not want to use a screen cover on my iPhone 5 and iPad.  I figure for the $19.95 I paid at CompUSA, it can't hurt.  And there is enough to treat multiple devices more than once.
    Hope this helps.

  • Has anyone ever used a livescribe smartpen with a Mac?

I am about to purchase a livescribe smartpen which will record handwritten notes and audio and store them to a computer. Most of the promotion about the smartpen describes its use with a PC. How does it work with a MacBook Pro?

You may not get an answer here.  I took a look at the Amazon reviews for the Lightscribe, and there were very few that dealt with the Mac, and the best review was decidely negative.  Not good.

  • Has anyone ever used a Varian Sentorr unit?

I have a BA2 model, and although I can write serial commands in Hyperterminal and display the Sentorr's answer there, when I use the Labview Example Code (serial communication) it times out before answering. If you bridge the serial pins, Labview will read what it writes... So why doesn't the Sentorr recognize my code?

Are you sending a termination character at the end of your command. Hyperterminal does this for you but you have to add this yourself when you write your own program or use the example. The term character is usually a CR or LF (check your documentation). In the example, you can right click on the string control and select '\" Codes Display and enter a \r for carriage return or \n or a line feed. You could also use the concantenate string function to add the character to the string written - use the constants on the string palette or you can use the VISA property node to automatically add the term character to every write.

  • Has anyone ever used the f:runGlobalApplication/ tag?

The taglib documentation is not very helpful. My best guess is that this tag is meant to execute a global activity. I tried testing this out in Studio, but I get an error saying that Process '/' is not available. This kind of makes sense, as I don't see any way to identify which process the activity may reside in. A search of "runGlobalApplication" on the forum turned up zero results, I'm hoping someone out there knows how this tag works.

  • Has anyone ever ran Logic using VMWare Workstation on a Windows PC?

Has anyone ever emulated Mac OS X and used Logic on their x86 Microsoft Windows systems? I was thinking about doing this to use some synths and stuff with some Windows designed software. I'm not sure if it is possible to use both operating systems at the same time with VMWare Workstation operating system emulator. Help me out guys. Has anyone ever done it? Can it be done?

VMWare Workstation will not run the client version of Mac OS X in emulation, and likely won't run Mac OS X Server either.

  • Has anyone ever succeeded to use the scope_identity() from the LabVIEW DB toolkit ?

    Hi,
Using LabVIEW 2014 DS, and MSSQL 2008R2.
I have configured a table with identity, so the indexed will be incremented automatically.
I am trying to get the ID of the last Insert command that I am using.
I am trying to SELECT SCOPE_IDENTITY() but with no success.
I read about trying to so it with a procedure or transaction, but I just could not succeed myself.
Has anyone ever succeeded to use the scope_identity() from the LabVIEW DB toolkit ?
If yes, can you please elaborate more or even share the code ?
    Thanks,
    Amitai.

Yes I have...let me dig out some code...
I do my INSERT query (with a semicolon at the end) and in the same query string do a "SELECT SCOPE_IDENTITY() as inserted_id;" - essentially what you're doing here is running two queries in one - one to insert your data and the second to retrieve the ID. From what I remember of when I did this (last year?), I think scope_identity() is valid for the same connection so as you're doing both queries in the same connection it should always be valid.
I then do this to get the ID (pardon the crappy VI snippet):
Essentially I execute the query and the result is a 2D array that contains one row/column which is your last inserted ID.

Double-tap the screen with three fingers, then go to Settings and disable the Zoom function so you don't accidentally trigger it again.

Our CEO has an iPhone and an iPad. Everytime he is at the Baltimore Washington Airport (BWI) he is unable to send or recieve email over 4G or wifi. Everything else seems to work just fine over wifi or 4G LTE. Has anyone ever seen anything similar? is this malware?
Both devices are on Verizons 4G LTE network. Both devices do have some of the same APPS installed. Can this be a case of him connecting to a rogue wifi network of a hacker that may have installed malicious code on his devices when he connected? That would explain why only his devices have the same exact issue only at BWI airport.

Something similar I've experienced. I was once having to use a AT&T hotspot and the iPad simply refused to access my mail via the mail app. But if I used safari I could get it.  So the internet was working, but my supposition is that something with the hotspot's firewall messes with mail exchange.
next time your boss is at BWI, do you guys have a web interface? (for example if I wanted to access my work mail I could get them to set it up via the mail app and exchange, or I could go to a certain web address and access my mail that way via safari)
He could try using safari and the web interface if you have it.
If it's something in the hotspot's firewall I doubt it's anything that can be changed.

  • Has anyone ever SUCCESSFULLY gotten iTunes to back up library to disc?

I've tried numerous times over different versions of iTunes, and I can NEVER get iTunes to back up my purchased library to disc.
It offers to do it to DVD, to regular CD--- and nothing works. It spits the tray out, says to put in a blank CD and I do-- and it "checks Media" and never accomplishes anything. I'm starting to doubt the function even works and was put in there to make it look good.
Has anyone ever successfully gotten the "Back Up Library to Disc" function to work?
im running the latest version of iTunes.

GOOD POINT. You cannot backup to an external hd. Who wants to use dvds OR cds for backup anyway? The whole reason for buying an ipod was to avoid these two optical disc nightmares and get with a hard disk management solution. itunes doesn't recognize external hard drives for backup. Ridiculous. Try using an ext hd as the itunes location for your music if you really want to see problems develop. Managing music instead of playing music has become my past time since I got into the ipod/ itunes mess. All I do is try to clean up it's messes. The software developers need to be accountable. Class action? No support, except forum, unless you want to pay.
