Has anyone every used the CleanMyMac 2 feature and if so, would you recommend it?

I was looking into signing up to beta test the new iOS Yosemite and I was reading that you need to clean up your Mac and back it up first before installing it and it was recommending you download something called CleanMyMac2.
Not sure if it would be a good idea or not. Any thoughts?

Has anyone successfully used the Intuit Quicken compatible with Lion upgrade for investment tracking?

Although I gave up investment tracking for personal reasons (I had used Quicken Deluxe 2002 for many years for that reason), my understanding is that the new Quicken 2007 for Lion/Mt. Lion is completely the same feature wise as Quicken 2007 for PPC.  It will run on Snow Leopard, too.
For $15, why not download it and just try it and LET US KNOW!

  • Has anyone successfully used the ZTE Open C with an AT&T microcell?

I have a ZTE Open C and have had no issues with initial setup w/AT&T. However, like most newer phones the voice signal reception is very weak.
I've had an AT&T Microcell before, but I don't have one now. For those that are unaware, the microcell allows 3G phones to connect via a 3G signal, but the call is routed through a home broadband internet connection.
Has anyone successfully used a ZTE Open C w/Firefox OS AND used an AT&T microcell? If yes, did you need to do anything special on the phone or with Firefox OS.

I don't use a ZTE Open C, however, I do have a ZTE Open (Original) on AT&T and so I'll see if I can help ;D
I know someone who has a Microcell, and I have used it myself a few times. However, the microcell only works if you have entered in your phone number into settings of the Microcell.
    Check the Microcell settings.
Check the data connection settings on your FxOS device
Make sure your Microcell is properly connected to WiFi
and check the AT&T support page for more info
For a while, it actually hasn't actually worked for me. I apologize if this doesn't solve your problem :D

  • Has anyone sucessfully used the new Winclone 3.2 to backup and restore  Bootcamp partittion with Windows 7 Ultimate on MBP with Lion 10.7.3?

Bought late 2011 MBP 17" with Bootcamp partition (Windows 7 Ultimate) and Lion OS 10.7.3
I am trying to make a backup of Bootcamp partition before I start using my laptop but it proves to be a difficult task.
I don’t have any installation disk for Windows 7 and I am afraid that, if a disaster strikes and I loose the HDD, my copy of Windows will be gone.
The only way to restore Windows partition according to what I read so far is to do the following:
    • Use Windows to backup data from BootCamp Partition
    • Reinstall OS Lion formatting full hard drive in the process
    • Use BootCamp Assistant to create BootCamp partition
    • Install Windows 7 on bootcamp partion
    • Use Windows 7 to restore data from backup file created in the first step
The only problem is that I don't any image or disk to re-install Windows 7. With Windows 7 I can create only 'repair disk' (for what it is worth) or system image but according to other users it would format the whole drive including OS Lion partition when reinstalling
Winclone 3.2 seems like the answer to my prayers but would like to hear from the users if it worked for them (most imprtantly, did the restore work?).

Got the response from Winclone regarding my confusion in step 18 of the procedure to create bootcamp backup.  The message displayed on the screenshot under step 18 can be ignored.  It refers to creating a Windows partition using Boot Camp Assistant but in fact this partition has already been created in earlier steps using Disk Utility.
I bought Winclone 3.3 as it promises to make backup and restore of Bootcamp partition with Windows 7 on it really easy, the steps to do this task are easy and well documented, and the owner of the program was very prompt responding to my queries.
I performed the following as an insurance against disaster prior to creating Winclone image:
Since my Windows 7 came pre-installed but without any installation disk I used Windows 7 to create 'Windows 7 system image' . From what I read on forums the system image created using Windows 7 apparently can't be used to easily restore Boot Camp partition (as it wipes out OS X in the process).  I created this image as a last resort backup rescue - some users reported that it can be used to recover Windows but the process is painful and involve a number of steps, swapping hard drives, and paid software to assist in the process.  I did not bother to make notes on this process - thanks to Winclone I am not suppose to need this backup if everything works as promised
I also created 'Windows 7 repair disk' prior to running Winclone.  Not sure what the value of it will be but again, this is something I did just in case I need it in the future
Then I installed Winclone 3.3 and created Windows 7 Ultimate Boot Camp image without any problems (on MBP running Lion 10.7.4).  My Winclone image file of 150GB Windows 7 Boot Camp partition prior to installing any programs and without any data on it ended up being nearly 8GB (saved to the external USB HDD).
I have not restored and don't plan to restore the Winclone 3.3 image just to test if it works (don't want to risk loosing my perfectly well running Windows 7 in case of any disaster).  So ultimately only time or experience of other users will tell me if I spent my money well buying Winclone 3.3.  I  know it worked for you JBLTZ so hopefully it will work for me when I need it one day.
    Cheers

  • Has anyone tried installing the Google Voice and Video plugin?

    Hi,
I wanted to check out the Hangouts feature at Google+, but I need the Google Voice and Video plugin for that. I tried unpacking the deb package supplied by Google and installing it manually, but the plugin does not work and Firefox just keeps crashing. Could anyone actually get it to work with Arch yet?

Sorry for not using the search, I see it's available in AUR... http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=36308
Now trying to install from there!

  • Has anyone tried using the app Telnames for their mobile sites/storage?

Have been looking at EverWeb and lurking in the forums following the discussions regarding it. Downloaded the demo and it seems like more then I want to do. (Still using iWeb for my main site)
While looking for alternatives I saw Telnames on App Store. I would like to know if anyone has tried using/buying it? I will be working on a 6+ and building a Bed and Breakfast mobile site.
    Thanks in advance
    D

Thanks for the info on symlinks. I pretty much already convinced the powers above me this was a bad idea because of the horrible performance and problems getting OS X to even recognize it as a home directory, but the symlink info is the nail in the coffin. We have had great success using windows file servers for our network home directories (we are a complete windows shop besides my macs) and I really didn't want to change anyways.

  • Has anyone began using the new iStick?  I cannot figure out how to save files from my iPad to the new iStick?

I have recently bought the new iStick and absolutely love it!  The only question that I have is figuring out how to open a file on my iPad and saving it to the iStIck.  Does anyone have any experience with this?

Here's the app and an article. Sorry I never used one.

  • Has anyone successfully used the Zoom R16 with Audition?

I’ve tried just about everything, but can’t seem to get Audition to run with the Zoom R16.  As noted in a recent post, I updated both the Zoom R16 firmware and widows driver, but that doesn’t seem to make the 2 work harmoniously.
Has anyone had success getting the 2 to work together?  If so, what’s the trick?!
    Thanks in advance

I'm intrigued - what is actually disharmonious?

  • Has anyone else used the WireTunes Axxess IPOD Car Kit?

I have recently installed this hookup in my vehicle. it's pretty cool and works well. it displays the song title and info on my xm ready stereo. The only problem i have is when i skip to the next song it skips one too many and skips over the next to the next song. Does anyone have this product and have you had similar problems?

that is true Angela...toyota uses the same unit for all the cars...the only issue they seem to have is when trying to integrate with the toyota's that have the factory NAV system, or the built in 5 disk changer in the dash.. I think the most flexible unit that I have found is this one....
    http://www.sounddomain.com/item/USSPA11TOY
It allows you to use 2 different modes, one being direct control from the iPod, none of the others that I have found allow you complete control from the head unit, they all seem to want you to make up multiple playlists and treat those lists as a CD's in a trunk mounted cd changer...which to me seems a bit clunky.

  • Has anyone else bought the Kin TwoM and found it the worst thing ever??

I got the Kin TwoM and found it the worst cell phone I have had EVER.It never keeps its battery life but for a day and the screen is way too touchy and I can not send people photos or post them online I have yet to get the wi fi to work anymore it just stopped.I hate this cell and if I had the money I would buy different one right now but instead I am stuck with it.

Maybe I should clearify this a bit the issue wasn't the device but more along the devices popularity with the customers, this information is basically posted on a number of forums but I dont see Verizon addressing this as a issue because the device works well for some but it simply wasn't for everyone..  If you search the forum you could find a number of reported reviews...

  • Has anyone successfully used the serial-over-lan feature in ipmitool?

The IPMI hardware in Apple's Intel Xserves ostensibly supports serial-over-LAN access via ipmitool. Attempting to access it with ipmitool doesn't appear to work, however; the command
ipmitool -H hostname -U username sol activate
simply returns without entering a serial session. I am able to perform other queries on the same interface with ipmitool, however. Is there some setting that I must enable in order to permit the above command to succeed?

I have version 2.0.2 installed. The firmware is not up to date (its boot ROM is at version XS11.0080.B01); however, I never was able to figure out how to update it (see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1569860&tstart=0). Querying the bmc info with ipmitool does work; it reports firmware revision 1.2.8. No manual changes were made within /dev to my knowledge.

  • Has anyone actually used the Apple USB "rescue" drive on a 2011 MBA or Mac Mini?

I am getting conflicting information as to whether the $69.00 Lion USB "Rescue drive" will function on a mid 2011 MacBook Air or a Mid 2011 Mac Mini. (Yes, I know it will work on the 2011 MacBook Pros).
    1) The local Apple Store Genius Bar personell say that it will not work. It has 10.7.0 Build 11A511, and the 2011 MBA's and Mac Mini's require at least 10.7.0 Build 11A2063 and 11A20621, respectively.
    2) Several people have answered this question in the Q&A section of the online Apple Store that it will work on a mid 2011 MBA.
    3) I contacted Apple, via the Chat system within the online Apple Store, and they are kinda sure that it will work. But in any case, if I were to get it to work it would ace my recovery partition, and forever NEVER let me use a recovery partition on that Mac again.
So, I am left with the most reasonable avenue to obtain a correct answer. I ask if anyone has sucessfully used this drive on a mid 2011 MBA or mid 2011 Mac Mini.

Given the nature of backups, my recommendation has always been to use a strategy that is unequivocally supported by Apple. As you already determined Apple Support unequivocally informed you that your proposal will not work, unless your router is an Apple AirPort Extreme or Time Capsule.
The exhaustive list of devices supported by Time Machine amounts to the following:
AirPort Time Capsule's built-in hard disk (any model)
External USB hard disk drive connected to a Time Capsule (any model)
External USB hard disk drive connected to an AirPort Extreme (current model only)
A hard disk drive directly connected to your Mac
    That is all.
Use whatever backup device you want, but you should be aware that this site is full of reports of misery from hapless individuals who had been using NAS devices for Time Machine backups, only to find that they were incomplete, corrupted, or useless when they were required. Apple won't care if you lose your data while using a Time Machine configuration specifically excluded from their technical support documents.

  • Has anyone seen this photo effect before and if so do you know the process involved?

I have seen this photo effect before and was wondering if anyone on the forum has any knowledge of how it produced in Photoshop. I am sure Poster Edges has something to do with it but I can not seem to replicate the effect.

Thanks I will check....  only reference I have found is under LED Effect but no Tuts, Thanks again I will let you know if I find anything. Really a cool visual effect.

  • HT1338 hi has anyone been using the new OS Mountain Lion recently released?

I have had nothing but frustration with the new Mountain Lion release
First all my printer drivers have failed and I have had to re-load software drivers to get it to work.
Next the Safari version needed to operate this engine is not supported by my medical software company.  I am forced to go back on Safari 5 instead of 6.
I am patient but am losing my mind.

Start by removing your worthless "anti-virus" software according to the developer's instructions. That's as likely as not to be causing the problem. Reboot and test. Back up all data before making any changes.

  • Has anyone else used the Consumer Guarantees Act for a repair? (New Zealand)

My iPod nano stopped working one day and keeps constantly restarting and telling me I have to restore with iTunes. I did restore multiple times but the issue was never solved. I tried doing a hard reset and also putting the iPod into disk mode and restoring again, but that didn't work either. I went to an Apple reseller (no Apple stores in New Zealand sadly) and they said that it looks like a hardware problem, and repairing will cost around $100 (NZD) along with a $39 assessment charge, since my warranty expired in January. I decided that's not worth it since buying a new iPod costs only slightly more.
But I was just wondering, would this be covered under the Consumer Guarantees Act?
    Thanks in advance!
