Has anyone fixed the safari / flash 9.1.1.5 problem yet?

I can't pinpoint exactly when it started happening but after many months of trouble free browsing Safari suddenly started having a problem with many websites containing Flash content. Whenever we go to such a site (e.g. CBBC or Nokia N Series) Safari hangs and we get the dreaded spinning beachball. When this happens even Force Quitting doesn't recover the problem and we have to shut the MacBook down with the power button - very worrying.
I've followed many of the othe safari threads and tried the following without any joy:-
- uninstalling flash (using the official uninstaller) and re-installing it
- Using firefox and camino instead of safari - they both seemed to suffer the same issue
- repairing permissions
- emptying caches
- adding virus protection (random desperation!)
Can anyone provide any insight an a solution please?

Sorry to hear that you have crashing issues with Safari. Most people don't.
If your Safari keeps crashing, or if you are updating Safari (or just have):
Input Managers and other plug-ins from third parties can do as much harm as good. They use a security loophole to reach right into your applications' code and change that code as the application starts up. If you have installed 10.4.11 and Safari is crashing, the very first thing to do is clear out your InputManagers folders (both in your own Library and in the top-level Library), log out and log back in, and try again.
So, disable all third party add-ons before updating Safari, as they may not have been updated yet for the new version. Add them back one by one. If something goes awry, remove it again and check on the software manufacturer's website for news of an update to match your version of Safari. Remember: Tiger up to 10.4.10 used Safari 2.0.4 or, if you downloaded it, Safari 3.0.3 beta. Safari 10.4.11 uses Safari 3.0.4 which is not a beta. If Safari 3.0.4 on 10.4.11 is not the fastest browser you have ever used, then something is wrong!
(Trying to revert to Safari 2 when running 10.4.11 can have repercussions, as Safari 3.0.4 uses a completely different webkit on which other applications like iChat, Mail, Dashboard widgets etc also rely.)
Most errors reported here after an update are due to an unrepaired or undetected inherent fault in the system, and/or a third party ad-on. Add-on that have been frequently mentioned here, among others, for causing such problems are Piclens, Saft, AcidSearch and Pithhelmet. If you have them, trash them and go the developer's sites to see if new versions are available for Safari 3.0.4.
You should also ensure, if you are running Tiger 10.4.11, that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2008-001.
As Leopard also uses Safari 3.0.4, much of the above may well also apply to Leopard, but is not guaranteed.

This seems from what I've read at least to be a good or even great overclocker, It's too bad that It isn't a full ATX motherboard, Maybe If sales are good enough MSI will use this chipset on a Full size ATX motherboard one day. Of course It does have an Integrated ATI video card in It and It have as much as 128Mb ram for the pci-e built-in video or You could add a separate pci-e video card in the 16x slot. Has anyone fixed the Headstart libraries for Forms 11 ?

I have a 100% generated Designer - Forms application using the %65.pll headstart libraries - the so-called Headstart version 6.5i.
Currently our production environment is running on Oracle Application Server 10.1.2. It works fine, however, because of several reasons (the underlying Oracle Portal environment is not working properly anymore on Internet Explorer 10) and continuous alerts that our customers may not use Java 6 and should upgrade to Java 7, we have to migrate to 11g.
We have installed Fusion Middleware 11.1.1.6, upgraded Portal and recompiled all Forms modules and libraries. Also the Headstart libraries compiled ok. However, when we start a form we get the message that it has been created with an older version of Forms and it quits.
The consequence is that i have to migrate the Forms as well with the tool frmplsqlconv. Sadly that fails on the Headstart libraries. For example these errors occur:
CG$MESSAGE: The String CALL was found. If it is an occurrence of the Forms Built-In, It should be replaced with CALL_FORM.
CG$_SHOW_KEYS: MENU_SHOW_KEYS changed to SHOW_KEYS
CG$_PREVIOUS_MENU: The PREVIOUS_MENU Built-in is obsolete and will not compile.
CG$_HELP: The MENU_HELP Built-in is obsolete and will not compile.
CG$_EXIT: The EXIT_MENU Built-in is obsolete and will not compile.

the problem has been fixed...
1) I tried to migrate the forms to 11g, but that can not be done with headstart... The fmb/pll files should be kept on 10g.
2) The migration documentation is not complete: webutil has been installed completely (in other words, webutil is not migrated)
So, steps are:
1) Install webutil
2) Recompile all libraries (including headstart and webutil)
3) Recompile all menus
4) Recompile all forms
Then the Forms application works again.
Java 7 update 21 is very dramatic. The "vendor" work-around can not be used anymore, like with previous Java 7 versions... It is unbelievable how amateuristic Oracle deals with Java. For me, Java in the client is dead as long as Oracle has the controls. So, the end of Forms is very near. If you are also looking for alternatives, check theformspider.com.

Has anyone solved the Safari Crashing Issue on iPad Air

I am using an iPad Air with iOS 7.0.4 and Safari continues to crash while I am scrolling. I have tried the suggested fix: clear history/cookies/data and then reset the iPad, but that did not fix the problem. I can consistently recreate the crash by doing the following:
Clear the Safari history/cookies/data (Settings --> Safari)
Reset the iPad (Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for 10 seconds)
Open Safari
Open the url https://twitter.com/TimCookAppleCEO
Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap the "Tap to load more tweets" button.
Repeat Step # 5 three times
Attempt to scroll to the top of the page by performing a finger swipe up
Safari crashes (closes abruptly)

I was wondering if anyone else has scanned a copy of the latest file dowloaded from adobe flash player for Firefox. I ran a scan from www.virustotal.com and it picked up a single virus detection called Win32.Corrupt.Ag by eSafe.

I ran the downloaded file on www.virusotal.com and this time it came out clean. Apparently eSafe had updated their virus definitions and it was a false positive. Interesting when you run across these sort of things.

Has anyone seen the blue flashing screen on MBP running 10.6.8? It looks like you are plugging in an external monitor and unplugging it over and over.

So, I have called Apple twice about this issue. Both times, I was on for almost an hour and could not get an answer. In fact, the technicians said that they had never seen this issue before. Here is how it goes.
It has happened MacBook Pro laptops anywhere from 2010 to now. I have seen it on new ones with Thunderbolt and ones a generation before. In the environment I work in, we have many, thousands from ranging from all generations. This specific issue seems to only be affecting 10.6.8. When the computer boots, it starts to flash blue as if you just plugged in an external montior, except there is no monitor, and it keeps flashing blue about once every second. I actually have a video of it on my phone that I can send to show you.
Now, like I said, this is happening to multiple laptops, all running 10.6.8. There isn't a particular action that causes it either. I have seen laptops that have been running for hours just start doing it as well as a completely cold start up do it right at the login screen. Upgrading to 10.7.x seems to solve the issue. But you have to understand, the environment I work in has thousands of computers. Upgrading many of them to Lion just for this is just not practical. In some cases, there is software that will not function correctly beyond 10.6.8.
I have scoured though Google searches for hours now looking for a similar issue and a resolution. The answer I always seem to find is just upgrade. I can't seem to find a discussion beyond 2011 that talks about it.
Can someone help me?

By the way, I have tried shutting of the display switching in the power settings. That was basically the only real answer I found anywhere. It didn't work.

Has anyone used the new Panasonic HDC-HS300 camcorder with FCE4 yet?

I'm thinking of buying this new high definition camcorder, but would like to know whether anyone has used it: does the log/transfer manner of getting video into final cut espress work?
I'm also interested in whether anyone has used the new Canon LEGRIA HF S10, with the same question.

Both of the cameras you provided links to should work fine with FCE. For the Canon and Panasonic cameras, you would use Log and Transfer to import the footage. This should work very smoothly as long as you shoot using 60i so it is compatible with the sequence in FCE. I use an AVCHD camcorder similar to the Canon you are looking at an it is working great for me.
Things to keep in mind:
1. Both HDV and AVCHD footage need to be converted to AIC in FCE upon capture/ingestion. FCE will do this automatically, but be prepared for large file sizes. A 15 minute project I created on my AVCHD camcorder at 1920x1080 took up about 15-20 GB of memory once converted to AIC.
2. If you get an HDV or DV camera you will use Capture, not Log and Transfer.
3. Becaues of the way AVCHD footage works, when FCE imports it the program creates intermediate frames between the ones the camera captures. This is normally OK but might be a problem for fast action shots.
4. As Ian said, unless you plan to invest in more expensive equipment the DVDs you burn will actually be SD, not HD. I do this in iDVD and I have always been happy with the results.
So I guess it is up to you: Do you prefer to shoot on tape or hard-drive, use firewire or USB to upload? If the answer is tape, firewire then HDV is for you. If hard-disc, USB, choose AVCHD. In the end it comes down to your personal preference. All of the cameras you have mentioned should be fine working with FCE.

Has anyone seen the new 2012 iMac in any Apple stores yet?

I was told by an Apple store employee that they would have the new 2012 iMac's in the Apple stores with-in a few days of their launch announcement, back in late October .... here it is late November and the new 2012 iMac's are not yet in the Apple store, for display purposes, here in Rochester, NY.
Last night I was again at the Apple store here in Rochester, and asking about the new iMacs. one of the employees now says they "may be out in December" some time.
I'm very disapponted as a loyal Mac user for over twenty years (and even as an Apple investor). that Apple is announcing the launch of these new products, and then taking months for these products to show up for sale.
I'm starting to think that it won't be until late January that I can actually be able to purchase one of the new 2012 21.5" iMacs ..... i've been waiting years to get a new "antiglare" iMac.
Has any one actually seen one of the new 21.5" 2012 iMacs in one of their local Apple stores, on display yet?

I was just over at the local Apple store loking at the new 21.5" iMac, and to be honest, I wasn't all that impressed. I have been waiting for over a year to upgrade my Mac, and had high expectations for the new 2012 iMac's .... but seeing and playing with one in the store .... the new one's may not be for me.
Most of all I wanted to believe all the talk about 75% less reflections in the new iMac display, but while in the Apple store, I saw no real difference over the previous model ... and if so, it was more like 25% less reflections. Nothing that dramatic, certainly not like the "anti-glare" screens available in the 2011 MacBook Pro. Basically, my understanding is that the new 2012 iMac's use the SAME DISPLAY as the previous iMac models did. It's the LG "LM215WF3" display, same as those in the 2009-2011 iMac displays. The only difference in the 2012 display, is that they took out the small space between the outer glass and the actual screen surface to get the overall display thinner. It still has the basic "glossy glass" cover screen.
The other disappointment was the extremely poor audio sound from the new iMac's built-in speakers. They just sounded so "tinny", even when playing with multiple iTunes "equalizer" settings. Again, disappointing.
Looks like I'll have to research the possibility of buying a Mini-Mac and an older Apple 20" cinema display off eBay. Or pick up a late model 2011 iMac and get the Rad-Tech "anti-glare" screen film for the display (Ugh!).
Being a graphic designer and art director in profession, I just can't understand why Apple has abandoned the "professional" market for these glossy displays in it's iMac line .... or at least STILL hasn't given us an option for a true "anti-glare" display.
Is it just me, or are my observations on the new 2012 iMac being seen the same by others as well?

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

and now am stuck with an old version of QT and no version of IT! Can't update iPod, can't do crap. How slow can Apple be to fixing whatever bug is in IT6?! I didget QT stand alone to install. I had the error -3 message. I unistalled itunes and quicktime. Then I reinstalled using my orginal ipod disc. I then was asked to upgrade to ipod 6 or something. Which I did. Still got the error -3. Then I got the QT stand alone to install by it self and every thing works great now. There was some thing stating if I wanted to "Unistall QT for windows" I said yes. There were some error associated with removing "QT for Windows" during the install but after that it works great. It took something like 20 min. for it to download when it took itunes only 7 min. to download earlier.

Basically, when you set the side switch to toggle screen orientation (or mute), after a period of use I will have either my sound cease to function or the ipad screen will not orient correctly. This depends on what i have chosen the side switch to toggle. I am not sure what causes it. The time it takes for the problem to appear is inconsistent. Some say it is caused by third party applications.
One can find numerous threads on here if you search for "sound on my ipad stopped working" or "orientation not working". It appears to be the same problem. Fudging with the toggle switch settings can fix it (but it takes a weird order to get it out of its non functioning loop).

Its only for notifications.. it is not for sound from videos or music!
