Has anyone gotten X Plane 10 to work on a MACBook Pro?

I'm trying to get X Plane 10 running on Windows 7. The MacBook Pro is a 2012 purchase new. Has anyone succeded in accomplishing that?
I read that the most common failures are with the graphics drivers. Tried to update NVIDIA's latest driver but it failed to load.
I also read that Apple uses a costomized chip set and it only works witih mac drivers? Is this true.
I know that X-Plane comes with a OS X version, but most of the add on's are in Windows. The specific add on was for a Cessna 208B. We are working with one of  the shipping companies to assess the pheasability of making the C208B a true robot.
Thanks

The 3D graphics on X-Plane 10 are very intense, you will need massive power.
If you can find a copy of X-Plane 9, it will run fine on a MBP running an i7 duocore 2,and at least 4GB of ram.
It works fine on mine.
Also contact the X-Plane developers, as I have found them to be helpful in the past.

Has anyone else been having hard drive issues with 13" MacBook Pro barely a year old?

    Yes, BUT...
... there are many problems that are really easy to eliminate by replacing the Hard drive, including ones that have nothing to do with actual Drive Hardware failure. These include corrupted install of Mac OS X, its EFI partition, clobbered partition tables, or the appearance of Bad Blocks in a critical area.
Any of these problems can sometimes be eliminated by re-initializing the entire drive and writing Zeroes, and re-installing from scratch. The trouble is, this process takes hours to complete, and is not guaranteed to be successful -- you may still need a new drive after all that effort.
I learned from my Plumber that consumers have no appetite for solutions that might work, and detest return visits for any related problems whatsoever. You or your friend may have had your drive replaced, not because it actually failed, but because the situation was troublesome, and the provider thought you would not tolerate anything less than a crisp, complete fix on the first attempt. And based on the cost of technician time, it may have even been cheaper that way.

I recently updated? to Lion from 10.6.8(snow leopard), and things seem to be running slower.  Has anyone had similar problems?  I have Feb 2011 Macbook pro 13" 2.3 Ghz.

As Shootist pointed out, the system uses more power.
However, initially it will reindex the hard drive for spotlight, which will slow things down temporarily.
It also must rebuild caches that eventually will speed things up.
If it has completed indexing the hard drive (no dot pulsing in the spyglass), then there might be something wrong.
Start by booting into the Recovery HD (a partition created with Lion that has Disk Utility and reinstallation options) by holding down cmd-r when you restart. You can let go when the gray screen appears.
When it boots, select Disk Utility and Repair the drive.
If that doesn't speed things up, try re-installing the OS from the same Recovery HD. It won't delete any of your files, but it has helped some people whose Macs ran slow after installing Lion.
Also, how much memory do you have? Lion needs RAM so maxing your Mac out might also help.

I'm having the same problem. Does anyone out there have a
    solution?
I am running RedHat Linux 6.0 straight out of the box. The only
change I made was to set the kernel parameters according to the
release notes and recompile the kernel.
P.S. Oracle deserves our thanks for providing free developer
licenses to so many of its products, but this is the buggiest
install I've ever seen in my 12 years of working with their
products. Didn't anyone from Oracle test the install? This
problem and the zero length libnjni8.so file are the real
    doozies.
I've followed the release notes and installation guide to the
letter and have found several documentation / distribution bugs
that should have leapt out at the first person who tried it.

  • Has anyone successfully installed OSX, Windows 7 and Linux on macbook pro 8, 2

I just want to know before I take a shot at this, if there are any success storys of this or similar model macbook pro
also i want to do this while having a shared partition for music movies and pics to share between the 3 os's
also i would prefer all efi, but understand that i will most likely have to at least have windows in bios mode
so please post your fails and successes as this may help me
idk if any tianocore bootduet works on macbook pro either if anyone knows more about that please post
and i will post my results and attempts
also the linux i will use will most likely be ubuntu
one more thing, when i first got this macbook, the superdrive wasnt recognised in ubuntu so it would boot, then fail while trying to load the files
so i tried many things, couldnt get even cd combined with usb to work, so i waited, now with the recent release of 12.04 LTS, ubuntu will boot just fine on my macbook so i know it can now be done

No problem installing on my windows 7 x64 systems.  Try uninstall AIR seperateley and then reinstalling it.  Then reinstall IB.  Note the more recent help systems also run Air so you can test that as well.
I believe this is the url for air (or try off the adobe home page)
    http://www.adobe.com/go/EN_US-H-GET-AIR
you need to make sure you get the most recent as IB and AIR are more current then the ELEMents installs.
    Don't uninstall elements.

  • Has anyone gotten OAM/WebLogic SSPI to work w/WebLogic Portal Server 9.2?

    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone here has been able to get the WebLogic SSPI (10.1.4.0.1) working with WebLogic 9.2 (on Solaris 10)?
I've gotten it installed, but when I switch from the default "myrealm" WebLogic realm to the "NetPointRealm", WebLogic will no longer start.
After enabling security debugging in WebLogic, it appears that the user that I'm using with the startup is authenticating properly with OAM, but then that user is not getting the WebLogic "admin" role, which then causes the WebLogic boot to fail.
I have the "admin" role in WebLogic mapped to the "Administrators" group OR the "BEA_Administrators" group, and in OAM, the user is a member of both groups, and in the WebLogic security debug, I can see that the groups are being returned, but the group names are somewhat strange (extra characters), and that may be why the role mapper may be failing (it returns "Anonymous" role).
    Jim

    Hello
I am also facing problems with OAM 10.X to work with weblogic 9.2 on Solaris 10.
Presently after instalation & initial configuation, when i enable Netpoint realm, server is not starting. But i can see weblogic boot user getting authenticated successfully in access server audit logs. After switching to debug mode - server startup throws error :
    <Throwing LoginException(NRE005 : Invalid member weblogic)>
Can you please let me know how did you resolve your problem. It might give me a direction to debug.
    Thanks

  • Has anyone gotten a Sony PS3 Controller Working?

    Hey,
I've been reading that the PS3 controller works in Linux.  Unfortunately, I haven't had much luck.  I don't have much joystick experience (that sounds bad) and I'm just following the directions in the wiki article.  They don't seem to help here.  I modprobe usbhid, joydev, and analog.  I'm thinking analog is the wrong one to load.  There is, however, a /dev/input/js0.  lsusb returns something like this
Bus 005 Device 006: ID 0781:7460 SanDisk Corp.
Bus 005 Device 003: ID 054c:0174 Sony Corp.
Bus 005 Device 002: ID 0bc2:3000 Seagate RSS LLC
    Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 004 Device 002: ID 054c:0268 Sony Corp.
    Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
    Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
    Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
    Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
So I'm guessing it sees something.  At least I think it might; my computer is a sony product so maybe it sees something else.  So where I'm at, I try to play some game and see if it works... and it... doesn't.
I did install the joystick package in the repositories.  I tried installing the joyutils in the AUR but returned errors about a version number (the package is supposedly out of date).
Does anyone have experience with this?  Please let me know!

Alright, I found that I need to put the controller into "operational mode" by "adding a  USBhid quirk"
    http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/g … 6a0391b964
I recognize that people may not know anything about the PS3 controller but would you know how I might go about this?

  • Has anyone gotten their Hotmail account to work on iPhone?

I'm trying to use my hotmail address for my mail feature, but I don't know what the incoming/outgoing host names are supposed to be, and I don't know if I'm supposed to use IMAP, POP, or Exchange. Help, please!!
    iPhone   Windows XP

I looked into this some. Turns out that hotmail does not support pop3 and imap email clients. Reason being that the greedy corporate fools want you to access your inbox through a web client in order to spit advertisements at you. Thier is a non-comissoned program called Hotpop that you can run on your PC (must always he on and connected for this to work) but it is too much of a hassel of you ask me. Your best bet is to move over to gmail or yahoo mail that do provide these services (and a lot more storage space)

We are using UltraSearch 10g (9.0.4) and have not been able to index any data using the UltraSearch remote crawler. We have been able to crawl data successfully (rows in wk$url and wk$doc) but the data is not indexed (no rows in dr$wk$doc_path_idx$i).

We have the exact same problem, Oralce support has been unable to resolve the problem. I suggest using another product.

  • [solved]Catalyst + xorg 1.6 = Has anyone gotten it to work?

After going over the wiki for ATI and installing the catalyst+catalyst utils (9.4) from AUR using yaourt, the device refused to load. Now, I don't have the error on file as I'm not at home. But the question remains: Has anyone gotten this to work?
    (*) 4870 HD Radeon card
(*) 9.4 driver + utils from yaurt/AUR (I didn't.. see official 9.4 drivers anyone on the ATI website, how did we get them?)
(*) no xorg.conf used, just startx to automatically detect hardware. And it worked, attempting to use the catalyst-based driver, but only with red bars and blocks on top of the screen
(*) xf86-video-ati and radeonhd both work fine, but obviously the 3d support isn't so hot, and I'm a huge gamer
(*) latest xorg release from pacman -Syu
(*) Yes, I know official support has ceased
Thoughts? Shared ideas? What are we waiting for, ATI's new drivers or a patched fix? Got this working, anyone?
edit: Yes, I've searched the forums. But there's too much scattered information and not enough to really focus on what seems to be the problem and how to resolve it

  • Has Anyone Gotten Oracle ORION on Sparc 10 Working?

    Hi,
I was interested in running Oracle ORION on Solaris 10 (Sparc 64 bit). I downloaded the necessary tar.gz from the Oracle web site (http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/orion/index.html) and extracted it and made it executable (and renamed it to orion although this isn't necessary). When I try to run it with even the simplist test after creating test1.lun with the necessary devices:
    ./orion -run simple -testname test1 -num_disks 2
    I got the following error:
"Parse error: View help screen using orion -help."
I checked the parameters and recopied them several times and I'm 100% sure that they are correct. I used ldd to make sure that all the libraries were available and they are. I then decided to use truss (kind of like strace for Linux users) to see what's happening. I find the Oracle binary looking for strange libraries that aren't mentioned anywhere. For example, it's looking for libociicus.so as well a bunch of other libraries, even though this wasn't mentioned in the Orion User's Manual. I hunted down the necessary 'additional' libraries and found them in the Oracle 10G Install Client, which I downloaded from http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/oci/instantclient/index.html (a nice 38 MB download). I then set up LD_LIBRARY_PATH and now truss shows me the orion binary looking for oracore/mesg/lrmus.msb. Now why is ORION looking for this? I found the necessary file and copied it to the location that orion was looking for and thought that that would solve my problem, but it's still giving me the same error. Any ideas? Has anyone gotten ORION running under Solaris 10 (on SPARC or even x86)? I added the truss output below in case that helps. Thanks for your help.

  • Has Anyone Gotten Screen Sharing To Work Religiously?

Since its inception, I've been so excited about this for helping family members and its hit and miss for me - always has been, no matter how I configure things. In fact 99% of the time it just doesn't work. Has anyone gotten it to work all the time with everyone they try it with?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    I can.
It needs UPnP to be used to open ports rather than Port Forwarding as it uses a random port to do the Screen Sharing.
This Article tells you the ports for iChat for the AV chats (In Tiger) and the Bonjour and Jabber ports.
This one tells you the AV ports in ichat 4 (What it does not do is remind you you need the Jabber and Bonjour ports)
The Second one says nothing about the Screen Sharing port.
Those of us that have tested using Little Snitch that tells you IPs and Ports says it is random.
I helped someone today (About 30 mins ago) who was using a 2wire device.
It did not have any Port Forwarding set, nor could I see any UPnP in the settings
(I could Share his screen from My end by he could not share mine)
We found on looking through his router settings that it had a Stealth and Ping block enabled
We disabled the Ping Block and he was able to Share my Screen.
On the basis he was having successful Video chats (USA to Holland and to me in England) these setting change seemed to smallest we should try.
Ideally I would say use UPnP in the devices at either and and disable Features such as Ping Blocking, DoS (Denial of Service) and SPI (Stateful Packet inspection).
