Has anyone had success in running Bootcamp along side vmware Fusion?

The only program I need windows for is Autodesk REVIT (A 3D CAD House modeling program) I use my mac for everything else.
REVIT takes up alot of memory and needs a decent video card to run well. When I tried using bootcamp, the program (REVIT) ran smoother than any windows platform we had, but I had no access to any of my mac programs without shutting down and rebooting.
I tried running vmware fusion and starting my bootcamp partition but everytime I switched from bootcamp to fusion, my windows said I had some major hardware changes and I needed to re-register my windows license. the license issue was also occuring with REVIT.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had these problems. I am willing to reinstall my windows partition to make it so I can switch from FUSION to BOOTCAMP smoothly. I use BOOTCAMP when I am in crunch mode and FUSION when I want to use my mac applications the same time as REVIT.
Any help would be appreciated. THANKS

I haven't had any trouble with Fusion and Boot Camp. I think activation does need to occur once on each side (once in Fusion and once in Boot Camp). Windows use the MAC address of your NIC to determine the hardware, and Fusion generates a MAC for the the virtual NIC that is obviously different from the MAC of your actual NIC in your Mac.
I bought MacDrive so that I could have access to my HFS partition of my hard drive when booted into Windows. The product works great, but also complains about activation when run in Fusion. MacDrive doesn't seem to want to stay activated in both Fusion and Boot Camp at the same time, so I leave it activated via Boot Camp and not activated for Fusion, since I can use Shared Folders instead. (that and it still seems to work anyway).
What did you mean by "crunch mode"? On a deadline? Is that because your software is too slow when running XP with Fusion? It seems like running XP through Fusion is the way to go for you 97% of the time, so I would worry about getting your CAD software going in Fusion and not worry so much about Boot Camp.
Best of luck.

The Juniper VPN is a SSL-based VPN solution whereas the native client supports L2TP and PPTP only - in other words they're completely different beasts.
That said, you shouldn't have any issue connecting to the SSL-VPN. I do it almost daily. You may need to be running the latest (or at least, recent) software on the Juniper box, though - earlier versions of the Juniper software had problems.

    Hi,
I am not sure if this helps, but the ENET-232 is spec'd to operation at -40 degrees C.

Thanks for reminding to at least update the results thus far.
    Update 4:
I did get quite a bit of support initially although slowly over a period of a month or so. After Adobe FM support and my SharePoint systems engineer reviewed how FM10 was setup on my computer (which I am the admin for our department’s SP site) and how it interfaces with our SharePoint 2010 Enterprise Edition, there was two conclusions:
Basically Adobe FM Support said that FM10 did not support claims-based authentication and they can no longer help me. They said it will work with FM11 when it comes out.
My SP Systems Engineer, said that FM10 is connecting to SP 2010 just fine but that the FM10 has a software glitch that causes FM10 lose control when executing checkout procedure within FM10. I can checkout and edit that same file in SP with no problems.
About a month later, I upgraded to FM11 and ran into the same problem. I attempted to get Adobe FM Support to help and they said they will look into and get back to me. That was in July and I have not heard anything more from them, and to be honest, my schedule has been extremely busy the last 5 months that I have not had time to pursue it any further.
Needless to say, I was very disappointed with the SP interface and, overall, the lackluster support I received from Adobe. Having a working SP interface was one of the criteria for purchasing TCS3.5 (and subsequent upgrade) in the first place.
One thing of note, we migrated from SP 2007 to SP 2010 in February 2011 and, at the time of Adobe support, I still had access to my SP 2007 site. FM10 and FM11 had to no issues working with SP2007. Unfortunately, SP 2007 is not an option for me anymore.
Also, another observation of FM10/11 not working with SP 2010, it seems that FM10/11 is automatically configured to work with SharePoint Drafts folder locally when connecting to the SharePoint library. This worked just fine with SP 2007 but SP 2010 does not use SharePoint Drafts folder locally the same way (the programming changed, don’t recall where I saw it, probably when searching this issue online)  and I suspect that is one of the main issues why it does not work correctly.
So at this time, I have not found a working solution to this problem.

  • Has anyone had success in getting Apple to correct Maps mistakes?

On multiple occasions I've submitted a correction using the function within Maps to report errors, but nothing is ever done.  Has anyone ever had any success in getting Apple's attention and getting something fixed?  Or is the submitting a correction feature just a black hole?  I've had to tell friends with iPhones to always use Google Maps rather than Apple to navigate their way to my house because Maps has completely mislabeled the street outside my development.  It sure would be nice if they had a human being you could call...

For users who's printer/scanner does not have a compatible driver from their manufacturer:
How do I scan or print with the driver from Apple Software Update?
Depending on your printer and the type of driver update, you might need to scan in a different way than you did before you installed Mountain Lion.
Scan from the Print & Scan window:
Place the item that you want to scan on the scanner glass, or load it into the automatic document feeder (ADF) if your printer has one.
Click the Apple menu (# ), and then click System Preferences .
    Click Print & Scan (# ).
Click your printer in the left pane.
Click the Scan tab, and then click Open Scanner .
Click Show Details . The details of the scan display, including options to change scan settings.Figure 5: Show Details scanning screen# Image: Show Details scanning screen
Change any settings as necessary, and then click Scan .
    NOTE:
Make sure to select either the Flatbed mode or the Document Feedermode, depending on your printer and how you plan to scan.
    Hope this helps

  • Has anyone had a WebService running on standalone OC4J 101300 / 101310

I am trying to run the most basic of webservices on these containers - what was achieved within minutes on IBM WAS 6.0, JBoss 4.0 and WLS 9.1 is just not getting possible with this release of the container!
Initially thought it was a deployment / code issue - but have been consistently able to take the same WSDL and generate the WebService (and deploy) on other containers except OC4J. The same service runs successfully within JDev embedded OC4J.
Using JDeveloper, I was able to generate both top-down and bottom-up services. Neither got deployed - either through uploading the EAR file, ANT build file, JDeveloper deploy to connections etc...
Even tried changed entries in the server.xml and the default-web-site.xml file - but it is of no use.
No extra libraries were added - same results were obtained even with a fresh install of the container in this environment: WinXP Pro + JDK 1.5.2_09 + OC4J 101300 / 101310.
All these come back with the same error:

So it does work. What the specific problem is with your situation, one of our WS PMs most likely be able to help with.
    The error you have:
    2006-11-16 20:01:15.764 WARNING java.lang.ClassCastException: com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.dom.DeferredElementNSImpl
Is strange -- can you check your WAR file and see if there are other libraries in the WEB-INF/lib that may be being loaded?
Do you have xerces-impl.jar or anything like that in the JRE/lib directory of your JDK?

  • HT3669 My HP Officejet J4680 is now useless in OS X 10.8, has anyone had success in getting the HP printer to work in Mountain Lion

I recently installed Mountain Lion, now my printer/fax/scanner is useless. If anyone has been able to fully use an HP Officejet J4680 please let me know how to get it to work, I am strongly considering on restoring my iMac to Snow Leopard where I can take advantage of my peripherals.

  • Has anyone had success with Messaging Server 5.2 under Windows 2000 Server?

Just to be up front - we MUST use Windows 2000 - they're not giving me a choice to move to Solaris or Sun Hardware. Linux isn't even a choice, nor is WinNT. (I know, it's annoying).
I've managed to get Directory Server 5.1 to run under windows 2000 without active directory installed. I found that I needed to modify the ims_dssetup.pl script that comes with the Messaging Server 5.2 to reference the full path to my ldapsearch and ldapmodify executables. Apparently, this is a win2k specific problem, and is not necessary on WinNT. This made ims_dssetup.pl work and the install of Messaging Server 5.2 work on a windows 2000 machine.
However, at reboot, the job controller and dispatcher do not automatically start. When I try to start the services manually, I get "Error 1067: The Service terminiated unexpectedly".
Any ideas? I'm desperate here - they're gonna make us use exchange if I can't get >>something<< working. Even a 4.x version of messaging server will do.
    Thanks

    Well, I do understand that.
However, I've installed iMS 5.2 on win2k several times (I admit, w2k pro, not server), and i've never installed AD.
If you can get it installed and working for your default domain, but not for other domains, then most likely it has nothign to do with AD or AD domains. iMS idea of domains is very different from AD's idea of domains. We need to be very clear about such.
for iMS, you have to create additional domains through Delegated Admin, as either "Hosted Domains" or as "Vanity Domains". We do not suggest using "Vanity Domains", and support for such is deprecated.
Once you have created "Hosted Domains" through Delegated Admin, you can add users to those domains, and they should work, just fine.

  • Has anyone had success connecting 3 monitors with a Matrox TripleHead2Go?

I have a Matrox TripleHead2Go Digital Edition external monitor box but have had no luck getting it to work with 3 monitors on Mountain Lion.
First I managed to get it to drive two monitors, except there seemed to be no way to split them into separate monitors, as claimed in the advertising.
Then I got a 3rd monitor and connected it to the box and reconfigured the software. That is when the problems started. For a short time, it displayed on all 3 but with very low resolution, 600x800. When I tried changing the resolution then it would only display on one monitor through Output 1. That is a much as I have managed. I tried many times trying different settings, each time waiting 5 minutes each time. I have uninstalled and re-installed several times, tried different combinations for monitors. Nothing helps.
So I am wondering whether just to give up and use it as a paperweight and assume only PCs can use multiple monitors?

Trying to use a THTG digital (DVI) with a 2014 MBP retina.
Although it isn't supposed to work it does, although the matrox configuration tool is very annoying, keeps rebooting the machine, and I ultimately failed to connect 3 devices.
It is happy run 2 pico projectors at 1280x720@60x2, no problem. Insists on them being in ports 1 and 3.
Trying to connect a 3rd normal sized projector via VGA, resolution changes to 1280x720@50 and the picos won't work with it. Keeps asking to reboot OSX and not setting the resolution asked 1280x720@60x3, keeps setting 50hz.
I have moved from using Ubuntu on a dell laptop to OSX, and I really miss the power of xrandr to configure from the command line. This was my bible for several years: http://www.brandon-harris.com/ubuntu/dualhead2go/triplehead2go/2011/02/01/matrox -dualhead2go-triplehead2go-on-ubuntu-with-ati-amd.html

  • Has anyone had success with the VMWare adapter in 5.3.1?

We are trying to use the VMWare adapter to control the powerstate of our VMs.
Issues we are having specific to the adapter:
    1.  Tried passing a group variable in the Virtual Machines dropdown on the VMWare tab.  The job launched, but didn't do anything, so we cancelled it.
    2.  We then tried to run a shutdown job on one of the VMs, but received the error:  "Unable to launch task, because another task is already running on this VM "
    3.  The only way to get the job to run was to stop and start the adapter connection, which won't be possible in Prod.
    4.  We were able to run the shutdown job, and the VM shutdown, but the job stayed active until our job event to cancel after max runtime triggered.
    5.  We then tried running our Power Off job with the "skip if already in expected power state" flag set.  The job ran anyway and completed abnormal.  We are wanting to run this second step as we have seen instances where gracefully shutting down a VM doesn't work.
Are these issues that other folks have experienced?
    Michelle

I worked with Cisco/Tidal to investigate the issues.  We were able to "resync" Tidal and the ESX server by making sure no VM jobs were running in Tidal and disabling the connection.  We waited 20 minutes and then enabled the connection.  We waited until the connection went green and requested the powerstate and Tidal reflected the same state as VCenter.  We are not receiving the 'task running' message any longer.

    Thanks, BobTheFisherman.
Is there some way that I could have known it was there? Or that I could have found it? Searching on "parallels" found this thread, but not that one.
You can click on your name and see a list of your posts. Then click on the post of interest.
When you made that post you were in the Windows Compatility forum, that is why it is there.

  • Has anyone had success in creating Faces?

I was able to pull in photos of my granddaughter just tagging her name only on a few pictures at different ages. Once I did that, I tried to tag more than one person on a few different photos, each creating a corkboard entry. I then clicked on my grandson's corkboard photo and tried to pull in his photos. All I get is the spinning wheel 'looking for suggestions'. This has been going on now for about six hours now. When I did my granddaughters', it was a matter of seconds before most of her photos were captured. Should I just tag one person at a time and pull them in individually? I've looked for help, but it looks like many of us are having problems, and no one seems to know exactly what the trick is to accomplish this (including the folks at Apple). Any help out there? Thanks!

Opps. Options 4,5 and 6 of the rebuilding options. launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select those 3 options:
