I have a case for my 4S. I use it to take photos under water. It works great. My only issue is touch sensitivity. Sometimes you have to tap on the screen a few times before it takes effect but rarely. But on the other hand you gain shock and water protection.
So it worked for 8 months fine. And then one day it leaked. I had to get a new iphone. LifeProof did send me a new case but couldnt replace the divice inside the case- its my responsabilty. Then they informed me that for new models you can buy insurance for $10/yr but you have to buy a new case, the replacements do not qualify.
That's my love story with LifeProof!

About a year ago, I started to get really frustrated with Linux distros -- thanks to Linux itself. You upgrade the kernel and stuff breaks. Kernel devs implement shiny new stuff instead of making sure that it at least works. I thought that using some less bleeding-edge distro than Arch would make things better, but I can't stand Debian, Gentoo is broken, Ubuntu and Fedora are too overcomplicated for me. So I switched to Windows. I was happy for some time, but my fingers are too used to the shell, and stuff like Cygwin just doesn't cut it. Then I found FreeBSD and been using it ever since.
The system itself is very simple and clean. Documentation is excellent so there's no smashing your head against the keyboard involved. All you really get is a basic Unix system: you have a shell, an editor (vi, ed), a compiler and the base necessary tools. You then build the rest yourself.
Third-party software management is a bit different from Linux distros. Linux distros are almost all about package management. Some distros also provide shiny stuff and patches everywhere, but we're on Arch forums and we know well Arch doesn't do that: Arch merely packages stuff and makes sure the packages work well together. Arch devs don't develop the kernel, they just package it. They don't develop base system utilities, they just package them. FreeBSD, on the other hand, is the kernel and the base tools. It does provide rather simple tools for package management (pkg_add, pkg_delete), and you can optionally install the Ports Tree, which is just a system of makefiles that take care of fetching, configuring and building software for you. Or you can install stuff yourself, though that's not recommended. FreeBSD isn't about the software that you install or how you install it, it's about providing you with the base platform on which the software can run.
That said, I find the Ports Tree very mature and easy to use. You can install third party scripts that will help you with software management, like portupgrade or portmaster (the latter being my favourite). But the system itself is very simple and thus easy to understand -- there's no magic involved.
(Some posters before me have mentioned packages being outdated. You probably were running a -RELEASE version, which is all fine and great, but it also means that the packages that are fetched by default are the packages that were available and built when -RELEASE was released. You can define the environment variable PACKAGESITE to point pkg_add to newer packages. It's all explained in the handbook -- especially the grey note may be of interest to you.)
During my day-to-day desktop usage, I don't see any difference from my previous Arch desktop. I have Xfce running, with Opera, Pidgin, Transmission, ePDFReader, and a bunch of terminals. I don't like shiny stuff, I didn't have it on Arch, I don't have it here. If you want, though, you can have it, there's no difference -- GUI software doesn't usually suffer any portability problems between Linux and FreeBSD. If I sat you at my desktop, I think you wouldn't even tell this is not a Linux distro, until you typed "uname -a" into the terminal.
HAL may be even more pain on FreeBSD than it is on Linux, but I hate HAL, I hated it when I was using Arch, I had it disabled back then, I have it disabled now. I have seen people reporting they got it to work successfully on FreeBSD, though. So if you like things like automounting, I believe you can have them. But I'm not of the sort of people who like auto- stuff, myself.
All in all, if you like barebones simplicity and like learning new things (it's different from Linux!), I don't see why you couldn't just give it a try. You can install it into VirtualBox, if you don't feel like messing up your primary PC and get some feel for what the system is and is not about. -
Has anyone ever tried the Mophie Juice Pack Air case?
Just wondering if it's worth the $80, it seems like a slick case/backup battery. Sorry if this has been asked before.
My brother bought one for his iphone 3gs on ebay for about $30-40..he loves his..hes on the road all day..and loves that he doesn't have to worry about having a car charger..he just turns on the switch on the back of the case..and poof..within minutes his phone is completely charged again..make sure you look on ebay/amazong before paying full price..such as this one :

Has anyone actually tried the BluetoothDemo demo?
It works fine via emulatorm no matter how many connections I create, but when i transferred it to my K700i it doesn't seem to work. When I select Server nothing happens.
So i tried it on a Nokia 6600 and it works, but then it doesn't show the list of images available for pblishing. It just shows [no data].
I'm trying to make a basic tictactoe program utilizing the JSR-82 API, and I'd like to use the demo as a guide, but if it doesn't work....Moderator advice: Please don't post to threads which are long dead, and don't hijack another poster's thread. Has anyone else tried the Skyfire browser?
So I read in TechCrunch that Skyfire for Symbian 1.5 was available. I downloaded it from my 5530XM and installed it.
My first impression was not very favorable. Like Opera Mini, the idea behind Skyfire is to emulate your PC browsing experience, but it did so much slower than Mini.
I took chanchan05's suggestion and installed Opera Mobile and I'm loving it. Much, much better than Skyfire and Mini, in my opinion.
I do have a question: can you change your phone's default browser to Opera, or is that a bad idea anyway?No you cant. Although the command string for editing default apps is available, it cant be changed.

If any of you have subscribed to Pandora One, please let us all know what you think of the quality of sound. Did you notice an improvement?

Has anyone here running the Yosemite Mac OS X 10.10 beta been able to get Creative Cloud to load?
Creative Cloud menu always shows loading spin image as if loading it never ends. Have deleted, reinstalled, erased Library folders in MacOS etc. I know Yosemite is beta software but a menu???
The way I got it to work on my Mac running OS X Yosemite public beta:
1. Uninstall all Adobe apps
2. Run Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool
3. Install Java 8 Early Release
4. Use direct downloads for the trials by following these instructions

i am unable to manually add artwork via itunes 12 on windows 7. I've tried all the suggestions to no avail. Has anyone succeeded on the same platform as me?
The new iTunes 12 Get Info dialog lacks right-click context menus (at least for now) but it still accepts most standard keyboard shortcuts and drag & drop actions.
Delete Artwork
On the artwork tab of Get Into, tap the image in question, use Backspace or Ctrl+X. Delete doesn't work.
Or, tap the image at the top left of Get Info, this time use Backspace or Delete, it is Ctrl+X that doesn't work.
Add Artwork
Select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the centre of the Artwork tab, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the small image area at the top left, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, you can drag & drop to, or sometimes from, the same locations.
You can also copy artwork from the Get Info dialog to Windows Explorer with the keyboard shortcuts.
If the source image is on a web page right-click and use Copy Image rather than copy. (With Chrome I get a one pixel wraparound so tend to go for a temporary local copy anyway - not sure whose bug this is, but it isn't new.)
If you have multiple images embedded drag the one you want to be the primary artwork to the leftmost position.
Replace/Remove All Artwork
The top left image box can be used to add or delete art from multiple tracks. In either case all existing artwork in all tracks is replaced/removed.
Old Style Get Info Dialog
Select some items, right-click, hold down shift, then click Get Info from the context menu. (Use alt/option on a Mac)
If you still cannot add artwork via any of these methods then I would suspect a permissions problem. See Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows.

Has anyone ever experienced the situation where plugging in the USB connector to the charging source (high-power USB port or Apple charger) halfway, then pressing it in firmly, results in the iPad not charging?
It's highly likely that there is a poor connection in the phone - either a pin in the dock connector or internal wiring harness. No software fixes or "tricks" would work, but I would recommend restoring in iTunes, first using a backup and if needed restore as a new phone.
Otherwise, opening and repairing the phone takes some tech knowledge that can't be relayed here. Apple doesn't repair phones other than replacing batteries (not inconceivable that you have a bad battery), but offers "out-of-warranty" replacement (refurb) phones for $149 (US). 3rd party iPhone repair centers may be able to fix it for less. Tried soft and hard resets
FYI, there's no such thing as "soft" or "hard" resets in iPhone terminology. There is only one phone reset. You'll see those terms thrown around by technically ignorant posters, but they mean different things to different people and are actually archaic, 1980s PC terms that have nothing to do with iPhones.

Has anyone actually got the Green Screen feature to work?
Has anyone actually got the Green Screen feature to work? I've been trying for about 8 hours, absolutely no success. I have followed the iMovie Help instructions and the examples on the internet, over and over again. I've tried every imaginable variation on the instructions. Nothing from my green movie shows up. The green in my video is pure green - 100% green, 0% red and 0% blue. Yet the non-green images in the video aren't getting displayed at all. Several other people have mentioned a similar problem on these forums and they are all "unanswered". Is that because this is an unsolvable problem? Is it an iMovie bug? Sigh. I'm a big fan of Apple but stuff like this gives them a bad name.
After several more hours of diagnosis I have identified some conditions which can make Green Screen slightly work (but not much). The condition is as follows. The green screen clip must be carefully dropped at the beginning of a video clip, such that at least the first two seconds of the green screen clip (no less, but no more or the clip will become attached to the previous clip and then it's broken again) are displayed over the PREVIOUS video clip. But the green screen will not work on the previous clip, only on the second clip. So you will always lose the first two seconds of the green screen video. It took me a lot of experimenting to discover this anomaly.
Clearly this is a bug, but since not all users on the internet experience this bug, (some online videos shows that Green Screen actually works as advertised) it's most likely related to the video card driver. My video card is an ATI 4870. If you have such a card, there's probably no hope that you can get this feature to work unless Apple fixes the driver or possibly the iMovie application, or you use my tricky workaround. -

Wouldn't that be funny if pc games actually DID work on a mac an no one tried it because everyone said the OS's were so different.....but that's likely not true. Just wanted to know what would happen should i decide on a whim to pop in a pc game and start installation. Would an error code pop up or would the mac overreact, show a countdown starting at five, and at zero completely explode on me?

Depends what software you had installed, but explode? No.
The disk won't install and likely just popup on the desktop with a bunch of files in it for copying off.
Mac's can boot Windows just like a PC. So if you stuck a install disk for a PC game into a Mac with Windows, it would install just like any other PC.
If you stuck a install disk for a PC game into a Mac with virtual machine software running with Windows, it would install just like any other PC.
In fact if you had the right PC game disk and something like Crossover or Wine installed, it could run the PC install disk on a Mac too.
But loading a PC game disk into OS X directly, without any help, of course not, it won't work as the operating systems are different.
As you can see, I'm running a Windows game in Windows 7, in OS X on my Mac and getting over 40 fps too. -
I recently updated my Iphone 4s to the newest IOS and I now cannot turn on Wi-fi. Has anyone esle had the same problem? Is there a fix? I've tries restoring to a previous software update, but it appears the wi-fi was completely disabled and I do not have the ability to turn it on.
Apple is aware of the issue and is expected to release 7.0.3 next week to address iMessage issues.
In the meantime I have found that a good old fashion reset cures it for a while.
