Has anyone installed NW 2004s SP Java on XP Media Centre Edition?

Has anyone installed NW 2004s Sneak Prevew for Java on Windows XP Media Centre Edition?
I've tried a number of times and the install completes successfully but it never finished starting up the J2EE server process.
Cheers,
Steve

OK this was fixed by unistalling McAfee Privacy Service. No idea why disabling the Privacy Service didnt work...

  • Has anyone installed Lion on mid-2007 MacBook?

I have a mid-2007 MacBook that I have not yet installed Lion on.  Has anyone installed it on a similar MacBook?  If so, how does it run?
I have a brand new MacBook Pro running Lion, so I am familar with it.  I am just curious if it will be really slow on the MacBook.
    Thanks.
    Thom

I think it depends on what you need to do with the computer. I have a 2007 black macbook with 4gb ram. Most stuff works ok, although everything is noticeably slower. But some stuff, Aperture in particular, barely work at all - aperture is almost unuseably slow. So be forewarned! And please, don't believe anyone who says it'll run just as well as snow leopard - it doesn't.

  • Has anyone installed 9i for Solaris8(for SPARC) on Solaris8- X86 (for Intel)

Has anyone installed 9i (9.0.1.1) on solaris8-X86 (intel). I know it is not available on the Oracle website for download. I was wondering if anyone has tried installing the sparc version on Intel.
I have done the same for 8i but don't know if it can be done for 9i.
    Thanks

I know this seems silly, but an "eval" version of 9i for Solaris Intel was available from the Oracle Store for the cost of the media. I have also found when I went from Solaris 8 10/01 to Solaris 8 02/02 that 9i came with the OS for the Sparc. I haven't upgraded my Intel boxes yet so I don't know if the same trick applies!
Not quite what you asked, but....

  • Has anyone installed the GIMP?

Has anyone installed the GIMP on their iBook? I have a couple questions because of the way their site is worded:
    http://www.gimp.org/macintosh/
In the requirements section are they just explaining why it doens't run on version 9 or earlier? It almost makes it sound like you have to go download that stuff (which is why I feel stupid for asking this). :-/
This site, http://gimp-app.sourceforge.net/ , which is the first site they list on the places to get GIMP, makes it sound like the application there is all you have to download, except for the extra install from the OS X Install Disk. Would that be all I needed?
I'd love to have this program on my iBook, so if anyone who has installed it could walk me through it, that'd be great.
    Thanks,
    Mandy

    Hi Mandy,
I myself have not tried GIMP.app because I have lost the urge to use X11. In order to use it, you will to download X11 from your OS X disk and install X11; not to be confused with X11SDK. I bet you can find a bunch of GIMP and X11 users in Mac OS X Technologies > Unix forum.
You may want to look at this previous post.

  • Has anyone installed the new firmware?

Has anyone installed the new firmware yet? And have you noticed any issues with it? I'm weary of installing Apple's firmware updates after how terrible the last one was (I'm sure everyone remembers the hdd hangs). Also, Apple's trackpad update was terrible as well for the first few weeks it was out.

Because I was one of the users affected last time.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10416721#10416721
Not just a tiny amount of people. Lots of people had this issue. Firmware downgrade is what solved it, until Apple released an upgrade of the upgrade. I just wanted to check if anyone was having issues with this firmware before I upgraded.
And I'm not sure why people are getting so offended. It's a simple question of "did upgrading to the new firmware screw up your computer", and requires a yes or a no answer. The last two times I installed an update it messed with my computer, so it makes sense for me to be weary. You would be as well if you were in the same situation. And I have not yet heard anything about this firmware, but I haven't had time to check out what people have said. I'm in med school and I'm usually fairly busy.

  • I'm desperately needing advice to a common question.  I use Quicken and love it.  But the Mac version is not as great as the PC.   Has anyone installed it by segmenting their Mac with Parallels or Fusion or Boot camp.  If so, which one do you recommend.

I'm desperately needing advice.  New Mac.   Used Quicken on my PC.  Researched all software for Financial programs and Quicken is still the most recommended.   I want to use Quicken on my Mac.  The Mac version is not highly rated so I would need to partition my Mac.   Has anyone done this for their quicken program and if so, which partitioning program did you use - Parallels, Fusion ware or Boot camp?
    Thx

Thanks.  Hadn't heard of it. ?  Is there any concern installing this free program on my Mac.    Have you used it?  Apart from being free is there any other advantage of Parallels and VMfusion. ?
Virtual Box is safe and well developed, it offers similar or identical features to the paid competition, it may be a little less polished but that's all.
Download and try it out, nothing to lose (except time).

  • Has anyone installed Mavericks on an older (circa 2006 or 2007) Mac Pro 1.1 ?

I'm running OS X 10.6.8 on an older Mac Pro desk top.
Needing to upgrade Adobe Lightroom 3 to LR 5 and it requires OS 10.7 or higher.
Apple's specs for Mavericks call for a Mac Pro 2008 or newer.
Has anyone successfully installed Mavericks on an older Mac Pro?

Yah. But just try booting a MacOS volume that you have forgotten to install the driver in. Yikes!
I will be installing Snow Leopard on Friday. That won't be a sensible thing for anyone to attempt if a GTX-285 is fitted in the computer.
I have taken the precaution of reinstalling my 8800GT to permit a trouble-free Snow install.
If I knew Snow will install a GTX-200 series driver there would have been no need to do this. But I have no indication that Apple's new OS will support the new card. I hope it does.
Even if it does, the latest EVGA/nVidia driver for the MacOS is awful, nothing like the WindowsXP driver's superb performance. I do a lot with 3D entertainment, games and Second Life. Using those with the GTX-285 in the MacOS is torture. MacOSX drivers for both the 8800GT and the GTX-285 are terrible when running Second Life in comparison to Windows versions on both those cards.
Currently, the 8800GT is a far better card than the GTX-285 is in 10.5.8 for Second Life.
Will Snow address those driver concerns? We'll know soon enough.

  • Has anyone installed XMLP in a multi-node appsTiers  environment?

We are experiencing a problem with installing XMLP 4.5.
Our EBS 11i(11.5.9) configuration: dbTier is on HP-UX, admin/CM of appsTier is on HP-UX and web/forms of appsTier is on Windows, i.e two nodes appsTier.
Applying the major patch 3554613 (XMLP 4.5) created $APPL_TOP/xdo/11.5.0 on both UNIX and Windows nodes. But the $JAVA_TOP/oracle/apps/xdo is only created on UNIX node.
When we reported the problem of XMLP in relation to OA Framework (see my other posting on this forum) to Oracle, the support engineer said the patch should create %JAVA_TOP%\oracle\apps\xdo on Windows too. But he is not sure as he only has a single node environment.
We tried a couple of times of reapplying the patch without any luck.
We start wondering if the XMLP 4.5 can be successfully installed in a multi-node appsTiers environment.
    So my question is:
Has anyone successfully installed XMLP in a multi-node appsTiers environment?
    Thanks.

    Hi
XMLP is installed on the apps middle tier so it should be no problem. The only thing, once you have it installed is if you want to use our cfg file you'll need to have the cfg file installed on all nodes.
    Whats the TAR number ?

  • Has anyone installed 8 gigs of ram on their MacBook Air 11inch?

Hello everyone, I am in the market for a high end mobile/light laptop and I am trying to decided between a Macbook air Bootcamped with win7 64bit and an Asus ul30 with upgraded SSD and 8gigs of ram. With the upgrades the Asus is a tab bit cheaper, but the Air is definitely lighter and more mobile. I have seen a few youtube videos of the Air perfoming well with heavy tasks, but I would like my new laptop to carry 8 gigs or ram (2 sticks of 4gigs). I know the Air has an upgrade to 4gigs for $100, but has anyone tried installing 8 gigs? If so, are there any complications?
I know the ceiling on the spec sheet is 4gigs, but normally that is set b/c they are only offering up to a 4 gig upgrade. 8 gigs would be much nicer.
    Thanks in advance
    Chris

Here's one minor complication: the Flash chips are soldered onto the logic board itself, thus upgrading the RAM (as I'm planning to do for my aluminum MacBook) isn't something that can be done by the user. That's why people are recommending spending the extra $100 when you order.

  • Has anyone installed CM SDK into 9iAS rel2 90201 middle tier?

    Hi all,
I have to install CM SDK into 9iAS rel2 90201 on solaris. We have a functioning environment (middle tier and infrastructure on the same machine). Has anyone done this? Any problems? Gotchas?
    Thanks in advance!
    Tracie

Installed CM SDK into 9iAS 2 and Oracle 9i on the same machine (not using Infrastructure). Had problems with CM SDk configuration. Finally setup the server, but cannot figure out how to login as a regular user. Looked all over for the user guide and found none existing.

  • Has anyone installed the Verizon In-Home agent on Moutain Lion?

I am having a lot of trouble with Verizon telephone service and they want me to install Verizon In-home Agent on my MacBook Air. Has anyone had any trouble with that app? I have Verizon Freedom Essentials phone service, a misnomer to say the least.
    Roger

From the FIOS area in a simluar thread..
i like the online version of the app at www.verizon.com/repair
you can do a lot of the functions of the app without all the bloatware.
    and
As other have said it does something, it waste resources.  Not sure on the MAC, but on PC's it has been none to drive at least one cpu to 100% (If you only have one its really bad).  And the number of functions it does that you might ever want to do is minimal.
Personally I recommend that you uninstall it, and make sure you get all pieces of it.

  • Has anyone installed Oracle VM Server on Sun X4600 machines

    Hi,
I am having problems with Oracle VM Server on Sun X4600 machines with 8 dual-core AMD opteron 8220 processors and 32 GB ram. The repository is on a shared LUN over two Emulex LPe11000 HBA's.
My problem is basically that dom0 reboots when I power on certain guest installations. I have succesfully installed EL4U5 guests after setting the irqpoll in grub.conf of dom0. But I am unable to complete an installation of for example EL5U1 or some of the templates available on the Oracle web site. Half way through the installation or when I power on the template the dom0 reboots.
Has anyone experiences with Oracle VM on these machines or similar hardware ?

You can download RedHat advance server from following site.
This is only for oracle internal use.
    http://tintin/oralnx/oralnx.html
    Go to Download section.
Click on RedHat Advanced Server 2.1 and go to 2.1-Gold-CD.
This has five CD CD 1to 3 for server install. 3 and 4 has all source rpm. 5 is doc cd. checksum file has checksum for all 5 CD.
If you have any question let me know.

  • Has anyone installed PostX? Any experience?

We are looking for a very simple mail-encryption solution for us and our customers.
IOHO, all the known solutions are far too complicated for the end-users or not available for OS X or mailclient Y.
Whats about PostX? Has anyone implemented this solution on a Ironport-device? Could someone post his experience?

I am an engineer for Coleman Technologies, Inc, and IronPort partner and have done a few on C-Series box email encryption installs out in the field and just finished our implementation on our internal box.
The install is pretty straight forward and very simple. Once your C-series is provisioned for Luxor (5.5 code) and your box has been upgraded (the admin interface is changed and is much cleaner with drop down menus) you would then go under "Security Services" and then choose the new "IronPort Email Encryption" option. Read through the ULA and accept.
You will then be taken to the "IronPort Email Encryption Settings" page where you will create a profile by clicking the "Add Encryption Profile" button. Give the profile a name (I typically use the domain of the company, so for our case ctiusa.com).
For key service type select "Cisco Registered Envelope Service", and select High or Medium message security (medium = No password entry required if recipient credentials are cached), then submit and commit.
Once you've done that click on the provision button next to the profile you've just created. Once your profile has been provisioned (the button will now say "re-provision") then you will setup an outbound content filter to trigger the encryption.
If anyone has any specific questions just shoot me an email at [email protected] and i'd be more than happy to answer.
    Regards,
    Chris
