Has anyone managed to deploy Acrobat Pro 9.0 for Mac through ARD?

Has anyone managed to get Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0 for Mac to deploy with any level of reliability through tools such as Apple Remote Desktop?
The main CS3 apps are "better", if still kludgy to deploy somewhat silently, but every time I've tried to get Acrobat Pro 9.0 to deploy, it steadfastly refuses to do so without demanding admin access on at least the first launch, and insisting on running the Updater in the process, which is completely unacceptable.
I should say that I've looked at their Adobe Acrobat deployment site (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/solutions/it/), and it's entirely useless for the Mac version.
Why do Adobe make this so hard?

Okay, I think I've figured this out.
* On a clean machine (ie: no Adobe software), install Adobe Acrobat Pro
* Run Acrobat. Insert license code. Allow it to "selfheal". Quit.
* Run Distiller. Allow it to "selfheal". Quit.
* Edit AcroEFGPro90.plist and AcroEFGDist90.plist which can be found in Contents > MacOS within the Acrobat and Distiller apps respectively.
* Change the "Requires" tags from "YES" to "NO" for all the file resources.
* Copy these to plist files into /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat/ and overwrite the ones that are already there.
* Run Acrobat and Distiller again. Allow "selfheal" if prompted. Quit.
* Run again. Quit.
* Build a Mac OS X installer package of the following:
/Applications/Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0
/Applications/Utilites/Adobe Utilities
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/
/Library/Application Support/FLEXnet*
/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.*
/Library/Preferences/FLEXnet*
/Library/Internet Plug-ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin
/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/
/Library/Printers/PPD Plugins/Adobe*
/Library/Printers/PPDs/.../.../.../ADPDF9.PPD (one per language)
/Users/Shared/Adobe
/usr/libexec/cups/backend/pdf900
* After you've built the package, go through the Acrobat application bundle and find cupshup.pl. Copy it into the Resources folder of the installer package, and rename it to "postflight" (this gets the installer to configure the PDF printer).
* Distribute through ARD.
* Grab com.adobe.* from ~/Library/Preferences
* Distribute the com.adobe.* files to all users; the .plist files can be done through Workgroup Manager, however com.adobe.118.registration must be copied as-is into the user folder, rather than being injected via MCX or the defaults command or any other method, as it's not a plist.
Dear Adobe,
MAKE THIS SIMPLER.

  • Unable to unistall Adobe Acrobat Pro XI Trial for Mac

I downloaded the Adobe Acrobat Pro XI Trial for Mac on my MacBook Air.  I decided it was not worth the money to purchase.  How do I get rid of it?  It has expired, but now I cannot open my regular Adobe Reader?

  • Printing Problems with Acrobat Pro 9.5 for Mac

I have Acrobat pro 9.5 for Mac.  I'm using a Canon MG8150 multi-function printer.  Everytime I try to print from Arobat Pro I get an error message.  Any suggestions?  I can print my pdfs from Apple Preview; so it's not the document or the printer.

The first problem is probably a permissions issue. Run Repair Permissions from the Disk Utility. For the second see this

  • Acrobat Pro 9 Updates for Mac

    Hello,
where can i download the updates from Acrobat Pro 9 for Mac? I purchased the software a few years ago and ha dot reinstall it. It was possible for me to download the main program, but i can not find the updates up to version 9.5.5. I would need all updates.
Since the updates are not available from your site anymore, is it possible to give me a download link for that?
    Thank you
    Kai

I am happy to find this posting as I too am reinstalling and the installer came without Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro - which was originally included with the CS5 Web Design suite. I found the FTP site and tried downloading a few but they all seem to be patch installer and not Acrobat 9. Can anyone specify the exact URL for the right file?
NEED THE MAC VERSION. This ongoing thread has a lot of people suggesting how to get a windows version.

  • Where can I download an install file for Acrobat Pro version 9 for Mac.

I had Acrobat Pro version 9 running fine under Snow Leopard but since upgrading to first Mavericks and then Yosemite it has issues. I was running it under Snow leopard Server and parallels but after some problem it needs reinstalling and I can't find a suitable install file.
I searched the Adobe web site and came up with the Windows version but my Mac version Serial number is no good for that. Any ideas where I might find the file?

You can find the download on http://prodesigntools.com/all-adobe-cs5-direct-download-links.html

  • Serial number for the free Acrobat Pro 7.0 for Mac download

Hello there, does anyone have the serial number for the free Acrobat Pro 7.0 download for Mac that used to be available (by Adobe Support) from the following website (http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html)?

    Hi 1praise,

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro X download for Mac

I need help finding out how to download Adobe Acrobat Pro X? I bought it on CD with my CS6 but I cannot find those disks.  I bought a new computer and want to put it on there, but I cannot find it anywhere on line to download.  I can find the Pro XI but I need just the Pro X.  Where can I find it to download?  I have my serial number and have been able to make the other versions of CS6 to work, but I cannot find Pro X.

The download page for CS6 is here, but Acrobat is missing as an individual download:, so you'll need to download whichever suite you purchased.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/cs6-product-downloads.html
Alternatively, if you've lost the disk, then you could try to contact Adobe to see if they'll send you a replacement set.
No doubt Adobe will want to sell (sorry, rent) you the Creative Cloud version, which is download only. Of course, you may not want to get involved in that.

  • Where is the Acrobat Pro X trial for Mac OSX?

    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=acrobat_pro
On the page to choose the trial I only get the option for windows, in 4 languages, but no mac option at all.
Furthermore there is no option to try and download the trial for Acrobat 9.

I see this in the small print:
*Acrobat X Pro is available as a software trial for Windows® users only. A trial version of Acrobat X Pro for Mac OS is currently not available. However, the full version of Acrobat X Pro for Mac OS is available for purchase.
So how do we get a trial version of an old version?

  • Has anyone purchased the refurb macbook pro 1.83 for £928 from the UK store

If so what are your experiences please....
I can't afford a new machine so am considering one of these...
    TA !!
intel imac 17" 1.83 ghz core duo   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

I bought a refurb and have been pleasantly suprised. It looked brand new out of the package, and has been bug free. It seemed to freeze once or twice while in sleep mode, but hasn;t done that in weeks. I have been running it for ove a month now without problems.
To me, it was worth it!!!

  • Where can I find the Acrobat Pro 9 download for Mac?

It is not available under the download older versions section of the website. Windows is, not Mac.

You can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

If you have a site license then you can download the software from https://licensing.adobe.com/.  Please contact your I.T. department if you are unsure of the credentials needed to access the site.

  • Enterprise updating of Acrobat Pro 9.1 on Mac OS X?

I am really frustrated. The only updater I can find for Acrobat Pro 9.1 for Mac OS X seems to require full manual control via GUI, and does not allow in any way for it to be applied via, say, Apple Remote Desktop, or via SSH.
I have 50+ computers here with Acrobat Pro and I want to apply the update. I am the only sysadmin here. Please provide an appropriate installer! I do not have time to walk to each computer, log in, mount the dmg, launch the updater, authenticate, locate Acrobat Pro for you, run it, log out. Especially when the lab is open 110 hours per week and is busy, I need these kinds of updaters to be able to be run in the background via command line.
    (Harumph!)
    -Jason

Unless there is a "hidden" or "secret" updater for Acrobat Pro 9 (currently 9.1.2 is the most recent patch), there is *NO* way to silently and remotely install the patch. I have been picking apart the contents of the dmg and installer app bundle for over a month now. I have tried every combination I can think of.
There is *NO* facility in the updater app that would allow for syadmins to deploy the patch or patching process to multiple computers, remotely, in the background. This is a HUGE PAIN IN THE ***! (Adobe, get your s*** together. My university has already dropped the purchasing and support of CS4 for all public labs due to this kind of shenanigan, plus the incredibly complex installer structures and deployment issues.)
Please, please, please. If you want institutional volume purchases, you MUST support methods to easily deploy and UPDATE your applications. This Acrobat patch is a dismal failure. I am very seriously considering removing Acrobat Pro from my lab computers, and not renewing licensing when the current CLP is up. For far too long Acrobat Pro has been a considerable pain in the *** for deployment. The @#$@#$ "self heal" b.s., the need to run first as an admin user before any other users on the system can use it... I am ONE guy supporting a LOT of computers. I do NOT have time to be logging into every single machine to launch one application. This is b.s.
Adobe: FIX IT! Or you will lose our business altogether!
Ever hear of the command line? SSH or other remote shell? Apple Remote Desktop? Hello?
You've made the cost of ownership extremely expensive, and not simply in terms of dollars.

    A very p.o.'d system administrator.

  • How can I manage to install Acrobat Pro XI in Safari ?

    Pascal Guernier May 5, 2014 8:26 AM
    Hi,
Someone can tell me how I can manage to install Acrobat Pro XI as the default PDF reader ?
Before I tried to remove Acrobat Reader XI from my MacBook Pro retina under Mac OS.X.9.2. With the help of Apple's phone support.
We did clear all caches in libraries and in other places. But, rapidly perhaps, I've deleted a folder name Reader with The XI version ? Was it Acrobat Reader or Acrobat Pro ? I don't know ?
Thank you for support because I'm in the french's taxes declaration...
    Best,
    Pascal

    Thank you for your question.
First because I was unable to save a document with a right click. Just able to print, rotate and nothing more. And a mini left screen's menu. Except thumbnails and page number, no option.  And all the Acrobat Tools were not proposed. Such edit, remove a page. Optimize And so on.
So I did believe it was a reduced version of Acrobat pro : Acrobat reader. A good tool too.
The possible solution suggested by an another user was to uninstall and reinstall Acrobat Pro.
In fact I succeeded by unistalling Acrobat Pro XI with the appropriate tool : an uninstaller. Located in the an adobe folder in Utility Tools. So I uninstall Acrobat Pro correctly. A cleaner is proposed for windows system at labs.adobe.com
And I erased by throwing it, in the TrashCan, Acrobat READER.
Then with Creative Cloud tool and my account I reinstalled Acrobat Pro XI.
And then I followed Adobe's manual tips. First I chose a Pdf file. With a right click. And in the contextual menu I chose Informations. Then I selected Acrobat Pro XI as THE défaut reader. With an option named Complete too. In order that any PDF file will be opened by Acrobat Pro XI.
    And it seems to work.
But your question is pertinent. Because if I had after a way to save the document with a Save icon, this doc. was a sensible one : my income taxes of 2013 provided by the french ministry of finance...
So I was able to save this doc. And after in Acrobat Pro with usual tools I did compile all the compulsory others pdf docs.
    Thank you and Best regards
    Pascal
