Has anyone multiplexed 5 or more cameras?

Has anyone setup a system using a lot of cameras? I have an application that will require either 5 or 9 cameras. Speed is not a critical factor (the part will not be moving) but I'd like the acquire rate to be on the order of at least a second or two for all 9.
I believe I could use three 1409 cards and synchronize them. Would I have to synchronize all 9 cameras together as well as the cards or if I have 3 hooked up to each, can I just synchronize the 3 cameras hooked to each card and simultaneouly grab from all 3 cards?
Does anyone know of a standalone multiplexer that could take all 9 cameras and output 1 video stream that would go into a 1409 or 1407 or other NI card? I heard of the video multiplexers that will t
ake multiple cameras for recording to a vcr, but I'm not sure one of those would work.
Thanks

I totally agree - using firewire cameras will allow you to hang them all of the same card (only one card required, so you won't need to look at multiplexing anything), will be cheaper, and will allow up to 63 devices on the FireWire bus. As acquisition speed isn't an issue, FireWire would be perfect for your application. This option negates the need for framegrabber cards, although you will need to purchase (not very expensive) the IEEE1394 (FireWire) Vision Toolkit to extend MAX to see your devices, and perform IMAQ functions (more info on the toolkit is here).
You can find more information on IEEE1394 and other vision techniques in my book: Image Acquisition and Processing with LabVIEW.

  • Has anyone gone from a camera similar to the SX200 to the G15 or G16 and what have you thought?

I have the SX 200 and am not satisfied with the reaction time.
I am looking into the G16 but am reluctant to spend $450 on it
not really knowing if it is worth it.
Has anyone gone from a camera similar to the sx200 to the g16 and was
    it worth it?
    thanks

I assume you're shooting his swing which is a form of action photography. If I'm right the best way to improve your results is to improve your technique, which costs nothing but takes a bit of thinking & practice. Thinking because you need to understand what settings fit the situation & how to set the camera to them. Technique comes into play when it comes to holding the camera STEADY, which is rarely done while using the LCD to frame the shot if hand holding. I don't own either of your choices but have a G9 which I've used for years but mostly as my underwater camera but even it would be an improvement over your SX200. The SX200 has a "slow" lens (f3.5 max aperture) while the G16 has f1.8 which is twice as fast (requires half the light all other settings being the same) which means under the same lighting conditions the G16 will use a shutter speed that's twice as fast as the SX200 would. Right now you only get 1 FPS (frame per second) while the G16 can do from 6 to 12 FPS depending on settings & having good light. More importantly it has a viewfinder (electronic) which allows you to hold it against your face to frame & time the shot AND keeps it more stable. You would however loose some of your current lens reach because the G16 only has about 1/2 the telephoto reach.
If you take the time to read these articles I've wrote for a couple of other forums I belong to it might help you understand why things work the way they do & why developing technique is the key to better photos.

  • Has anyone experienced loss of camera and flash functionality after upgrading to iOS 6.1.2?

I just updated to iOS 6.1.2 and now the shutter on the native camera and other camera apps won't open nor does the flash work.  Sometimes it tries to open and crashes, and sometimes it just stays closed.  I have restored the phone and there's no change.  Anyone else experienced this?

    Same happened to me today.
At night I charge my phone and set it to "Flight Mode".
I got up at 6:42am and unpluged the phone at 6:45.
I did not use my phone at all until 10:40am, but the battery sank to 22% until this time.
How can it be fixed? Why is Apple so much more expensive than other phones (wich are better by the way), but it's not working as good as others...?

I just find the section out for you about remote control of your
    camera:
    1.7.1 Remote Control.
Redlake Imaging also supplies the Serial1 program that enables a
    computer to control the
MotionScope system from a remote location through the serial port.
    Refer to Manual Addendum
    9400-0014 for detai
ls of the Serial1 program and how to control the
    MotionScope system from a
remote computer using a standard communications program.
So you need to find the serial command (for RS232) in manual addendum
9400-0014. I couldn't find it in website maybe I did not search
throughly, but you may have it if you own the camera. And these
commands are just for controlling the camera system, not grabbing the
image, so you may need a frame grabber to get the image into your
computer and do the further processing.

It looks like the Redlake VIs from ImageMill allow you to write serial commands to your camera. In LabVIEW, you should be able to write your own serial commands using the Serial Read/Write examples that ship with LabVIEW.
I'm curios exactly which Redlake digital camera you have. Redlake cameras are often found under the names Roper (their parent company) or Kodak. I suggest going to www.ni.com/cameras to see if there is a camera file written for your specific camera. If not, please go to www.ni.com/ask to contact an applications engineer.

  • Has anyone tried iUsers for sharing an iPad?

Trying to figure out the best way for my wife and I to share an iPad.  There is a free download called iUsers that seems to have the right functionality, but the user reviews are from mid-2011 when it was still in Beta.
Has anyone tried this more recently?  Would like to know your experience.

  • Has anyone heard anything about 2.0.1?

I've read some reports that the folks from BGR claim to have found Apache server logs making reference to 2.0.1 but not much else. Has anyone heard anything more definitive on the topic?

Likewise, no problems with 2.0. Yes, there are a lot of posts about problems. There are a lot of sick people in hospitals, also. That doesn't mean that the entire population is sick. If more than even a tiny percentage of the 6 million iPhone users had problems with their phones these boards would shut down from overload.
This is not to say there are no real problems, but that it is a small minority that has them. People with no problems don't go to message boards just to say "I have no problems".
I'm not saying the problems aren't real, but rather than wait for Apple to produce a 2.0.1 that might or might not fix the specific problem you are having try to do a little troubleshooting. Even it it's an Apple problem you can probably fix it yourself.

  • Sony DCR-TRV350 - Anyone EVER get this camera to be recognized in FCP?

Theere is the question - has anyone EVER gotten this camera to be recognized by any FCP product.
I have a ton of old HI8 tapes and I really want to import them directly.

FIRST PART - written before FCP worked with camera on
Okay Captain. If you're still awake (probably are as you are on the west coast I think) here is where I am...
Your step-by-step said to turn on camera first, which I did.
FCP will not start with the camera on - in fact, the rainbow circle was spinning and I was even interupted while typing this post - the computer stopped responding to my typing and all I had was a moveable spinning rainbow.
Get this... I turn off the camera and Whalla!
FCP loads up and I have access to my system again.
NOTE: FCP went through all the "loading" and...
    SECOND PART -
okay that was weird - I closed FCP, turned on camera and tried again... this time FCP loaded right up.
    I followed your steps...
Closed the canvas, timeline, and preview
    APPLE-8
    set to "non-controlable device"
pressed play - no video in window
bottom of window reads "no communication"
NOTE: I have confirmed that the link between camera and computer is good
I must admit, I am skeptical that we can get this to work, but I am also allowing myself to get a little excited that you may be able to help?
    fingers crossed...

  • Has anyone successfully installed AIR on Huawei Ideo U8150 running android 2.2?

    Hi,
I am trying to get AIR apps running on a Huawei Ideo U8150.  When I sync with AppBrain, I see Adobe Air show up as an installable App, but when I go to install the Aop, I get an "Item not found" message.
Has anyone had a more successful experience with tyring to install AIR on this model of phone?

This is not an Android 2.2 issue. Your device can't run Adobe AIR because it doesn't have a compatible processor. This is why AIR doesn't show up in the standard Android Marketplace search from that phone.
AppBrain unfortunately isn't tuning out incompatible apps, which is why you can see it there even though you can't run it. There's a few similar posts around this forum for other devices.
Devices need an ARMv7 processor, you have an ARMv6 (http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=cpu&id=a7201a&c=qualcomm_msm7201a).
Ouch, hope you haven't blown your cash on this

  • Has anyone else noticed that Adobe Camera Raw 7.x exhibits odd behavior compared to version 6.x?

I have found no discussion of this subject on Adobe's forums, so I am asking here. I find that Adobe Camera Raw 7.x's "auto" mode frequently produces overexposed images with lots of blowouts necessitating much more manual tweaking than was required with the older 6.x series of plug-ins. Has anyone else noticed this behavior?

Sounds like you have a battry issue but don't want to believe it.
If a car was running fine on one tank of gas, then you filled it up with another tank of gas and it began to run funny, one might suspect that tank of gas. But let's just say coincidence blew a valve-- would you think the new tank of gas was the culprit?
BUT WAIT!! It just might have been! The gas could have been of higher octane and put more more strain on the valves; you know, like going from 87 octane (OS6) to 93 octane (OS7) and showing you the engine was on the edge of compromise.
Sometimes you have to go with common sense. If everything else is ruled out, it must be the battery. And if it runs fine one moment in OS6 but immediately ***** in OS7, I'd believe my battery was suspect-- though comfy-- in OS6 but the OS7 showed its true power.
Moreover, if you had the answer-- or didn't want to believe someone's more competent advice-- why did you even call?  You've already shown that you don't know much when you asked if you could go backwards after setting up the new OS as a new phone.
Additonally, if you're such the know-it-all, but yourself the $29 battery and put it in yourself. It's a piece of cake.

I am trying to import cr2files from the camera into lightroom 5 and keep getting an error message saying Lightroom can not read the files and therefore will not import them.  Has anyone had a similar problem….thanks

If you are having the same problem, i.e. a disk permission problem, open your favorite search engine and search on, "change disk permissions", and I think you'll find plenty of information on how to fix the problem. This is a Lightroom forum. Your problem is with your operating system. There is no sense in rewriting instructions that are already available if you do a simple search.

  • TA26012 Has anyone used keyring 808 spy camera with an itouch and rendered with good results in final cut pro ?

I am using spy camera 808 which has the same 1280 by 720 H264 AAC as an itouch for filming.
Problems occour in fincal cut pro 6.06 on export if i export 808 on its own no issue the issue is the itouch messes up the time liine on sound video, example 20 min video 10 mins 808 and 10 mins itouch equals 12 mins.
So has anyone actualy with the power pc g5 and final cut pro 6.06 had a method where it is succseful for a simple export to quicktime ?
Just tried it with itouch in final cut and fcpro says does not match settings so i let fcpro choose audio needed render that was it export of 5 mins came out as 30 seconds.
So question stands has anyone found a suitable way to bring in itouch video and export in final cut with out issues.?
ps i brought the video in with "image capture" and iphoto no change.
email here if you would [email protected]

    My plan is as follows:
-Make a full backup copy of System Drive on an external drive
-Boot from OS Install Disc > use Disk Utility to Erase/Write Zeros to drive
    -Install Snow Leopard
    -Install FCP, etc.
-Delete "Capture" directory from external "Scratch Disk"
-Transfer all remaining files to another external drive
    -Reformat "Scratch Disk
    -Cross fingers
-Begin transcoding process again---frequently checking files for errors
I'll let you know how it goes. Still open to other thoughts and suggestions...

What makes you so sure it isn't software?
The camera can be focused by take the point of focus on the touch screen.
If it is new as you said, it should be under warranty. Make a Genius Bar appointment or contact Apple with a repair request.
