Has anyone noticed this feature on the keyboard?

(call me slow) but the other day I found out how to add different letter characters from other languages into a text or email. If you find the letter that you want hold your finger on it for about two seconds and it will open a window with other variations of the same letter. I found it amazing. Is this new to anyone else or am I just really slow?

WEIRD! Has Anyone had this problem with the keyboard ribbon cable? HLP! PLS

Replacing a DVD drive and using ifixit to reassemble the unit; the PB 1.67 Ghz wont turn on--nothing.
After 3 days of troubleshooting I finally found that pressing the keyboard ribbon cable to the logic board very firmly while pressing the power button starts it.
Nothing else works. When I release the pressure the PB works fine after start however the power switch doesnt work again (for an emergency manual shutdown or to boot the PB again). Tape doesnt work.
This connection is only a small friction fit connector. Ive cleaned the area, compressed air cleaned and close inspection shows no visible problems I can see.
Has anybody experienced this and how do I fix it? I cant open the PB every time I want to boot it!

Hi, Steve. I don't have an answer for your faulty connection, but as for workarounds, there is seldom a need to shut a Powerbook down and then boot it up using the power button. I recommend that you stop shutting down as a matter of habit, and instead just put the Powerbook to sleep (using the command in the Apple menu) when you aren't going to use it for a while.
I could easily count on my fingers and toes the total number of times my Powerbook has been shut down since I bought it four years and ten months ago. It runs 24/7/365 except when I'm working on something inside it. For all other purposes, a software Sleep or Restart command suffices, and I don't need the power button for those. You should be able to reduce your need for that button just as drastically.

Has anyone noticed this V-Drums mapping bug in Drum Designer?

There seems to be a bug in the v-drums mapping for Drum Designer... wondering if anyone else has noticed this?
On standard Roland V-Drums kits, the toms are mapped as follows:
High tom: C2
Low tom: A1
Floor tom: G1
On some of the Drum designer kits, such as "Neo Soul" and "Retro Rock", the above tom mapping works correctly.
However, for other kits, such as "SoCal" and "Roots Kit", the low tom is played when either the low tom (A1) or the floor tom (G1) is played on the V-Drums kit.
It appears that for some reason, there are some kits such as the two mentioned above, that are mapped incorrectly so that the same low tom sound is played when the drummer is either hitting the low tom or the floor tom. I am using a standard Roland TD12 kit.
I've raised this as a bug using Apple's "Logic Feedback" page - hopefully they will check it out soon!

There are 2 work arounds for this situation.
- edit the midi note sent by the module to set it to F1 (kit - inst - F4 - F5 - note number)
- insert a midi transformer between your Roland module and the drummer track in logic's midi environnement window
The second option is more tricky but it opens up a whole word of other tranformations which are worth exploring.

Has anyone noticed this with the 1.2C BIOS?

The temperature goes back to normal (dodgy high temps) after flashing the BIOS and cold booting the PC. But after that, if you just go into BIOS as you're booting your PC and then leave by saving to cmos and leaving, the temps are lower again.
Happens for me anyway, my NB temps are always at around 45C regardless of what I do though. I'd still like to know if this is normal.

I've gone so far as to replace the teensy NB heatsink, and put a much larger active one on. I did this after I saw its temp skyrocket to 57C , along with huge reliability probs. The trusty finger test verified that the cooler was really toasty.
When the old sink came off, thermal goop was only on about 1/3rd of the chip and all bunched in one corner. Frankly I wasn't impressed with MSI at this point. I put a modded Zalman passive cooler to make it fit around my vid card and to be able to mount a 40mm x 25mm fan on it's side. I have tons of airflow through my case with 4x80mm + 1x120mm + 3 PSU fans + Water cooling. With alkl that cooling and airflow I should be able to chill my beer in there while my compy hovers a foot off my desk!
I'm running 1.2 b12 bios, and temp still hangs around 45C even with the active cooler. My system is not OC'ed. Is this temp for real? I mean the chipset does not have a VPU, or a memory controller. This temp is at idle! It really should not be getting this hot. CPU stays around 29-32C.

I need help with a plugin. I can't get the quciktime import plugin. Has anyone noticed this.

I have noticed that the whole abilities to import quicktime plugin. After effects says its gone. I can't find any downloads. I am still on free trial. But why would I buy something in a store that isn't full. Tech support says they won't help. Who knows what to do.

Nobody can tell you anything without proper system info or other technical details. Start by reinstalling the program and Quicktime. Otherwise the relevant stuff could simply be blocked by a firewall/ virus scanner or whatever and you need to make it behave...

you won't have any option to email or share photos. but yet if you access it through the camera app its all there. was this intentional, or will this be corrected in the next update?

That is intentional so no stranger can walk up, take photos, and then have access to your email, etc.

I dont know if its just me but, if you try to put an app into an already full folder, the app itself will dissapear. It does not move to the side or anything, it just vanishes from the menu. If I searched my iPhone for it by name however, it does show up, but the app is still not in the menus. I tried to restart my iPhone but it won't come back anywhere. So where did it go?!

Jerry - I've had the same problem. It's gotta be a kink in the software, right? Anyways, to remedy the situation I caved and added album titles to ALL of the songs on my iPod so they appear every time. It's a pain, but it's out of love.

Google search page on the iPad, issues when you try to open a new tab. Anyone noticed this? It is a recent development. Does not happen on any other website.

Till recently there was no issue opening a new tab after doing a search on google for an issue. For the last ten days or so I am having this experience of inconsistency. Has anyone noticed it. On the other hand if I visit any other web pages it works smooth to open a new tab.

Has anyone seen this behaviour of AccessHW In Port?

Yesterday I was trying to check the operation of a plug-in PCMCIA parallel port, specifically I wanted to know if there were any timing issues with this device on an XP machine, so I thought I would try the AccessHW In and Out functions in Labview. I installed an old copy of Labview 6.1 (It was 5:50PM and I wanted to do this fast!) and tried it.
Reading the memory location where the device's status port was supposed to be just returned zero. Strange, I thought, so I tried some other addresses in the I/O range. I got zero from every single one. I tried the same on my own laptop, which is also XP, and I was getting sensible numbers from addresses in I/O space.
Has anyone seen this behaviour? The machine has McAffee on-access protection running, which cannot be disabled (company IT policy), and I have a suspicion that this might be blocking accesses to low memory, is this possible?

Sorry... my mind is not working well this morning You had mentionned that in your original post and the fact that it is a PCMCIA parallel port.
As for the address location, I have seen addresses in the 0x2000 region for add-on parallel ports (not PCMCIA).
I haven't used a PMCIA device with Win-XP. Does the address info for that port appear under properties when you look at the HW devices within the Control Panel's System. From what I can recall, you can change the PCMCIA serial port number within the HW device, so maybe the properties will list the address..

I went into the cloud on phone it was on. Turned off and back on. Now i have 6 of one contactDeleted face books also incase that was the issue. Has anyone noticed the subtle change this week?....

I figured that the "coaxing" (is the word I choose to use) by the store to upgrade to the latest version of the store would one day come. I noticed this week that the option to buy iTunes plus songs (or whatever thet are called) is now not an "option only" if iTunes plus is offered. Now, it appears one must upgrade to buy a song or album if not already running the latest store version when plus is offered.
For the time being at least, I will keep running older versions of the store that have time and time again proven to be more reliable and less risky (I am fully aware that a lot of people would choose to disagree with me on that assessment). I only buy music and I am currently passing on the advantages that these plus songs are the same .99 and at a higher bit rate (the risks in my opinion do not currently outweigh the rewards, even though one day with continuing improvements to each new store version, I will eventually make a judgement call and upgrade).
Realistically, one day in the future, I believe everyone will almost certainly have to upgrade to buy anything in the store for technological and security reasons which only makes logical sense (I will accept that fact when the time comes). It looks like that is the direction that we are slowly headed in, starting with this subtle change.

You probably have a lot of notifications turned on in Settings -> Notifications. Turn off those that you don't really need.
Turn Bluetooth and Cellular Data (if you have it) Off when not needed.
Under Setting -> Privacy -> Location Services -> System Services (at the very bottom) turn Off Location based iAds. Turning off Genius for Apps may speed up the App Store.

It seems like a useful feature, but I can not find any documentation on its use.

In the FCP Browser, click on the source clip that is showing up sized incorrectly to select it. Once it is selected, type Command + 9 to see the item properties for the clip. Either report those properties here, or take a screen shot of the item properties and post the screen shot here.
Next, click anywhere in your sequence timeline and then type Command + 0 {zero} to see your sequence settings. Either report those settings or take a screen shot of the sequence settings and post that screen shot here.
