Has anyone setup a Ubuntu Web server running Ebox behind a AirportExtreme?

I'm setting up a Ubuntu Server, as a web server on a LAN that has access to the Internet via an AirportExtreme (cable modem on the WAN port). The Server is running Ebox (a web based maintenance tool) which can be accessed via the WAN on HTTPS port 443.
Are there any setup considerations on the Airport I need to consider to allow access from the Internet?

You will most likely need to configure the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) for port mapping to allow inbound traffic from the Internet to access your web server. Note: You will need a Windows PC or Mac to run the AirPort Utility to configure the AEBSn.

Has anyone migrated from 10.7 Server to 10.8 Server using Drupal?

I migrated my server, which in addition to hosting a couple of traditional web sites also has a multi-site Drupal 7 installation, and now I'm regretting it big time.
I had to futz with the settings to get the traditional web sites back on line, but the Drupal sites broke hard. Couldn't even load the user login screen, nothing but streams of error messages. Now I'm in the midst of trying to revert to Lion Server again (including having to re-partition and re-install Lion to get rid of the 10.8 recovery partition) and keeping fingers crossed I can get back to what was working. Still a couple of hours to go on the Time Capsule restore.
This on my year-old Mac Mini Server that came with Lion Server installed.
Has anyone out there successfully migrated a mult-site (or even solo) Drupal 7 server to Mountain Lion Server? If so, what did you do to get your sites back on line?

Yep, I've migrated from 10.7 to 10.8 with Drupal 7.
I've got 4 web sites running under 3 different domains.
I run stock os x apache and Postgres and php 5.4 (php-osx.liip.ch) and MySQL via homebrew.
Server.domain.com = os x server wiki site
Domain.com.au is my drupal / os x Postres site
Crm.domain.com.au is my Sugarcrm / MySQL site
Anotherdomain.com.au is a simple HTML page.
Wiki site worked out of the box
Drupal and sugarcrm broken
HTML site worked.
1. To fix the Drupal site, I just deleted from server websites panel and then re-instated it. That fixed that.
2. Set debug level to debug in apache2/httpd.conf
3. Looking at the apache error log, found that sugarcrm permissions needed to be reset and the cache directory needed to be writable by _www.
4. Fixed that and now up and running.

Has anyone used a USB device server with a DAQmx or NI-VISA USB device?

I have an application where I need to communicate with USB devices (some through DAQmx, others through NI-VISA) that will be more than 15 feet away from the controlling PC. I could use USB-ethernet-USB dongles, but I also see that there are USB-over-ethernet device servers available (like this one: http://www.usbgear.com/computer_cable_details.cfm?sku=USBNET-400&cats=104&catid=187%2C188%2C104%2C65...). Has anyone used these or similar USB device servers successfully with LabVIEW?

NAT/PAT Setup with internal web server.

Environment:
Web Server inside and 10 internal workstations.
One external public IP address.
Cisco Router 806 with HTTP server enable.
Conditions:
External users have to be able to access the web server.
The internal users have to be able to access the web server via the "EXTERNAL" IP address. Since they are using an external DNS.
Scenario:
The internal workstation request from external DNS address for the web server.
DNS replies with external IP address.
Workstation attempts to connect to web server via external IP address.
Connection fails at the router showing the router's HTTP logon page.
We are trying to implement NAT/PAT inside, with static assignment to port 80 to the internal web server.

You need to use cisco NAT virtual interface,
Example:
your internal network web server ip 192.168.1.10/24 Fa0 router Fa1 Public Ip address 1.1.1.1
here is what you need to configure in NAT router to resolve your issue:
int fa0
ip nat enable
no ip redirects
int fa 1
ip nat enable
no ip redirects
ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.10 80 1.1.1.1 80 overload
ip nat source list 1 interface fa0 overload
access-list 1 permit 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255
now you can try access to your 1.1.1.1:80 from inside network.

Web server and Exchange behind an ADSL router

Hi all:
I finally was able to go through the basic configuration of my new cisco ASA 5515 X (i'm completely new to cisco devices).
I also managed to create VPN's to my two Amazon VPC sites. This was particularly hard because my ADSL Router which this Cisco firewall is behind was making trouble.
Finally, all I had to do is reboot the ADSL Router and it all started working, but I had a hard time to find out the source of the problem (the guys at Amazon did the job, to be honest)
Now I face the next step, opening my web server and exchange server to the world. How is this done? Do I need to do something special because of the ADSL router?

On the ASA you'd do this with an ACL
object-group service EXCHANGE_SERVICES tcp
port-object ew www
port-object eq imap
...etc etc
access-list outside_in extended permit tcp any host 192.168.203.24 eq www
access-list outside_in extended permit tcp and host 192.168.203.11 object-group EXCHANGE_SERVICES
access-group outside_in in interface outside
You'd also have to allow access in from your ADSL router.

Has anyone setup Helix to have a direct link to iTunesU?

I am a newby so I may not be asking the correct questions here.
I have a Helix Media Library server.
HML has the ability to be my intranet streaming server for iTuneU content.
In the Helix setup their is a place holder for a direct link to your iTunesU account.. They give an example of http://phobos.apple.com/institution
Does anyone know the correct format? Would the URL be the same for links to content on my HML server and users to view content?

Has anyone setup BIEE with OLAP 10g using value-based dimension hierarchies

I just wanted to know if it is possible to setup BIEE with 10g using multple dimensions containing multiple value-based hierarchies?
I know this involves using the OLAP Cube View Generator to create an sql view of the cube data.
I have been able to get this to work with nine dimensions all containing a single value-based hierarchy bar one which had four value-based hierarchies. But as soon as i have multiple hierarchies in multiple dimensions it seems to go haywire and i cannot get the sql view to return correct data.
I thought i would post on the BI side to see if anyone has been successful in creating a BIEE setup like this?

The simple answer to your question,
how robust is the 11g materialised views with multiple value-based hierarchies...?is that materialized views are not supported on top of value-based hierarchies in 11g. The reason is that it is not possible to write a reasonable SQL statement that aggregates a fact over a value-based hierarchy. Such a SQL statement is necessary if we want to create a rewritable MV on top of the cube.
But I suspect this is not what you are really asking. If you are trying to set up OBIEE on top of the cube in 10g using the view generator, then you will probably want to use the "ET VIEWS" that are generated automatically in 11g. These are generated whether or not you enable materialized views on top of your cube. I am not aware of any issues with the generated value-based hierarchy view support in 11g. Members may be shared between value hierarchies and you will not need to generate or modify limit maps.

Has anyone had success with Messaging Server 5.2 under Windows 2000 Server?

Just to be up front - we MUST use Windows 2000 - they're not giving me a choice to move to Solaris or Sun Hardware. Linux isn't even a choice, nor is WinNT. (I know, it's annoying).
I've managed to get Directory Server 5.1 to run under windows 2000 without active directory installed. I found that I needed to modify the ims_dssetup.pl script that comes with the Messaging Server 5.2 to reference the full path to my ldapsearch and ldapmodify executables. Apparently, this is a win2k specific problem, and is not necessary on WinNT. This made ims_dssetup.pl work and the install of Messaging Server 5.2 work on a windows 2000 machine.
However, at reboot, the job controller and dispatcher do not automatically start. When I try to start the services manually, I get "Error 1067: The Service terminiated unexpectedly".
Any ideas? I'm desperate here - they're gonna make us use exchange if I can't get >>something<< working. Even a 4.x version of messaging server will do.

If you can get it installed and working for your default domain, but not for other domains, then most likely it has nothign to do with AD or AD domains. iMS idea of domains is very different from AD's idea of domains. We need to be very clear about such.
for iMS, you have to create additional domains through Delegated Admin, as either "Hosted Domains" or as "Vanity Domains". We do not suggest using "Vanity Domains", and support for such is deprecated.
Once you have created "Hosted Domains" through Delegated Admin, you can add users to those domains, and they should work, just fine.

Monitoring Webi server running

I need to develop a jsp page to monitor that our BO XI R2 Webi report server is running. I found what looks like very similar functionality in the SDK Sample application. There is a page in the \ServerAdministration directory of the sample app called GetServerMetrics.jsp. Calling that page through the webapp gives me an error that it cannot find the class:

I imagine I'm missing a library but am not sure which one. Can someone help with the library(or libraries) I'm missing and where they go on the BO XI server?

It will work once you upgrade to BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.0 - it's new functionality.
For XI Release 2, you'd query CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS for SI_KIND='Server' objects, retrieve IServer.getServerAdmin() and see which one implements IWebiServerAdmin interface.
That's the only info you'd get from the Web Intelligence Report Server with XI Release 2.

Has anyone gotten Xcelsius Engage 2008 to run on 64-bit vista

I'm trying to find anyone that actually has the product running on a 64-bit machine. I have tried everything i've read on internet posts/forums but can't figure out how to get it to run on my desktop. It will run on my 32-bit laptop but not on my 64-bit desktop. Any help appreciated.

I run Xcelsius 2008 (Engage and Enterprise version) on Vista 64 bit. I didn't have any problems installing or running , although if you post exactly what the errors are then it could be down to local admin rghts or the software you have installed on your 64 bit laptop not the fact it is 64 bit.

Has anyone had difficulty with music server software on the mac mini

Hello all. I'm using my newly purchased mac mini as a music server and for movies integrated into my sound system. I have 2 handmade tube amps hooked up to a CJ tube pre-amp, running a Neko audio DAC mkII via a silflex mini toslink cable made by lifatec, from the optical out jack of the mac. I'm using audirvana plus software, which allows me to play uncompressed music files directly into my external dac bypassing the internal dac of the mac. CDs sound very good, the mac runs very quietly, and the optical connection seems very clean. HD tracks sound exquisite.
Took me a while to figure out how to set the systems preferences, but after a few days of trial and error I finally got it right. The low jitter of the optical out is a reality. Audiophile quality is now easy and cost efficient with the mac mini.
