Has anyone tried AppleSauce yet???

I bought my iPod just 2 weeks ago and spent a lot of money on it. I am very very carefull with it but it already has one scratch and one blemish on the screen. I was searching and found this AppleSauce stuff. It looks like just basic scratch filler really, but does it really work as well as they say?

  • Has anyone tried marble yet? FREE Navigation soft...

i just loaded it and tried it briefly...looks good for anyone that is looking for a replacement nav software!  note:  i am in no way affiliated with this software however it looks to be a good fit for the betterment of nokia n900 users.
Linux Journal has a review of the maps and navigation program Marble on the N900. Excerpt:
Put the World in Your Pocket with Marble
KDE's Marble breaks free of the desktop—and it knows where it's going.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have the whole world at your fingertips? How about cradling it in a single hand, putting it in your pocket and taking it with you wherever you go? With KDE's Marble Virtual Globe on your mobile phone, you can do just that.
Yes, you now can run Marble on a smartphone that supports Nokia's Qt framework. That could be useful, the next time you are arguing with a friend about which is farther north: London, England, or London, Canada. However, you could answer that kind of question using a mobile Web browser, or you even could use your phone to call someone and ask. At first glance, having a virtual globe on your phone seems like little more than a fun gimmick—something to play with and impress your friends. But if you look a little deeper, you will find that Marble can do much more than plug the gaps in your geography knowledge. It can help you find yourself and guide you home.
Figure 1. Marble's mobile version puts the world at your fingertips.
    Navigate Freely
Marble has long been KDE's virtual globe application, providing satellite, atlas and OpenStreetMap mapping of the world. Since its 0.10 release last August, Marble has included route-finding capabilities, so you can enter two locations and have Marble calculate a route and provide step-by-step directions. However, with version 1.0, released in 2010, Marble's navigational capabilities and optimizations for mobile devices have really come of age. Combined with a suitable smartphone, this gives you a completely free navigation system—free software and free map data.
Figure 2. You easily can use a smart phone running Marble as an in-car satellite navigation device.
So, how can you use Marble to turn your phone into a personal navigational device? In principle, you can run the software on any device that supports Nokia's Qt toolkit. In practice, most testing is done on Nokia N900s running Maemo, and packages are available for this platform. Marble also will run fine on MeeGo when the first MeeGo-powered phones appear. In the view of lead developer Torsten Rahn, “It would be really cool to see Marble prepackaged for more platforms, such as Symbian, Android, WinCE and others.”
Get Marble on Your Nokia N900
Most testing of the mobile version of Marble is done using Maemo on Nokia's N900 smartphone. Packages are available to make installation easy.
To get the mobile version of Marble, simply point your phone's Web browser to the Marble Web site (edu.kde.org/marble), navigate to the Download section and scroll down to find the Maemo packages.

Thanks for the tip. I was hesitating about which navigation software to install, and I just installed Marble. Looks good so far but I still have to test it on a real (short) trip.. maybe today on the way home

  • Has Anyone tried to use DDE through Applets

I would like to update a client side opened Excel file via the web using DDE ( Windows protocol used to cut and paste between apps ) and an applet.
I guess that the level of security of the sand-box will limit the interaction with the excel application unless the applet jar is signed and certified.
Has anyone tried to develop such application ?
I didnt go through all the DDE technology yet and I am just wondering if there are some great difficulties to overcome.
Any "difficult to find" hints are welcome
    Thanks

Thanks for the hint. A good one as I did not know this link.

  • Has anyone tried Lexar's ExpressCard solid state memory drives

I just saw a news article on Lexar's memory cards for the express card slot here is the link http://www.lexar.com/ssd/expresscard.html
Has anyone used these yet? If so what are your impressions? Are they worth the price?

I have been looking into this. Haven't found a definitive solution yet. I am interested in using the 16GB version as my primary bootable partition and just storing data on the internal HD. If anyone has tried this, please let me know. My only other option is to just go buy one and try it out. If it doesn't work, hopefully the retailer will take returns/exchanges.

  • Has anyone tried the new retina display MBP with a projector?

I bought a new MacbookPro with retina display online the other day (hasn't arrived yet).  I use this primarily for business doing presentations etc.  Has anyone tried connecting a projector using the Thunderbolt VGA adapter?  Just curious if it'll work.
    Thanks

Similar problem. I used my macbook Pro Retina with my Thunderbolt to VGA adapter all through the fall, and never had any trouble with it. Just before Christmas I got a Thunderbolt display.
Since that time, whenever I connect the projector, I get a black screen. I can see and move the mouse, but nothing else. Other computers still work with the projector.
I'm not certain if the Thunderbolt Display has anything to do with this or not, but it's just the timing that it happened.
Grateful for anyone that can offer help!

  • Has anyone tried Thunderbird with Mavericks?

Given that Mail is so completely useless at the moment, has anyone tried Thunderbird under Mavericks?

Hi mmollo22.  I use an external monitor with my iMac - Dell U2412 connected via RGB
Mail window on Dell - Reply window appears then almost immediately disappears UNLESS
                                            1)  Full screen mode
                                            2)  Pre-existing Reply window exists and is visible
Mail window on iMac - Reply window appears on Dell regardless of pre-existing windows. Full screen mode reply
    window appears on the iMac.
Others are having Gmail difficulties.  I haven't tested mine thoroughly yet, but it seems unaffected, which would also be strange.

  • Has anyone tried to use the Online Edition of Quickbooks and Tiger?

I work from home as an editor. My employer has just set up payroll using the Online Edition of Quickbooks. When I tried to to login I got this message from Quickbooks:
"For business and tech reasons we designed Online Edition specifically to run on Windows. We do not offer an alternative version at this time. Customers have reported using a PC emulator, such as Microsoft's Virtual PC, to run Online Edition on their Macs. This may decrease application performance in terms of speed. We encourage you to research this approach to see whether it will work for you."
    Has anyone tried this?
Also, they set up Online Edition to run with Internet Explorer. I use Safari.

i donot know the server he used in his example. All you need is to
replace the server deployment descriptors he used to weblogic descriptors. then rebuild. go to admin tool--localhost:7001/console
and login with weblogic as username and password
then on ejb you can then deploy the ejb.read on the console.

  • Has anyone tried changing the drummer on a drummer part that has already been placed into a track stack?

Has anyone tried changing the drummer on a drummer part that has already been placed into a track stack?
I find that if I do that, the parts in the stack all get merged together with no way to expand them (ie the triangle you would click on to expand the stack disappears).
I believe this is a bug, and wonder if anyone else has encountered it?

  • Has anyone tried pre-compression to improve image quality?

I am having a hard time creating a usable disk image in iDVD from my 1 hr 45 min FCE movie. Portions of the video are extremely pixelated, usually the grainier, lo-light clips.
Since I don't have Compressor or DVD Studio Pro to use to get more control over the compression, I considered trying to "pre-compress" my video by exporting the entire master sequence using Quicktime conversion to an Mpeg4 format and playing with the data rate so that it would be well under the 4 GB limit of a DVD5. Then I was going to re-import the Mpeg4 into a new FCE sequence, add chapter markers and export again as Quicktime movie into iDVD.
My reasoning is that iDVD will no longer have to compress the file and the pixelization won't be there if it isn't there in the Mpeg4. Has anyone tried anything like this to overcome iDVD's compression and get more control?
If you think I should post over at iDVD forum please let me know.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

What you want to do does not make sense. You are going to ADD more compression
iDVD will compress your video no matter what you do ... it has to, in order to create the MPEG2 that comprises a DVD. iDVD will always do this ... even if you could create your own MPEG2 (which you can't do if you don't have Compressor) it would still try to do that compression ... it is a consumer app designed for ease of use
The more you "step on" your video before it goes to to iDVD the worse it will be.
You are right; you need more control over your MPEG2 compression and you can't tinker with iDVD's compression engine like you could with Compressor
The symptons you describe are not unusual. I fin that anything over 90 minutes in iDVD can give you potential probs. The quality of the original video had to be really, really high ... and doing a double compression ain't gonna help that.
Is it feasible to split the project in half and make two DVDs? If the project is under an hour, you can use iDVD's Best Performance preference which tends to give you a better result.
Remember, iDVD doesn't really care about the "size" of your project, only its length, so tinkering around to reduce the file size won't help you.
It is unfortunate that Compressor is not a standalone program and that DVD Studio Pro is now only included as part of the Final Cut Suite. I suppose you could troll e-Bay to see if there are any older, independent versions of the program still kicking around

  • Has anyone tried Displayport to VGA adaptor for T410S?

I found Displayport to VGA cable for T410S on Lenovo site.

I just wonder if DP can directly transfer to analog port?
    Has anyone tried this?
    Solved!

Does the T410s not have a VGA port built right in?  I know my T510 does and I'm almost certain the regular (non-"s") T410 has one.

  • Final Cut Pro X and Macbook with 9400M chip. Has anyone tried it?

I have a late 2009 Macbook with Nvidia GeForce 9400M graphics chip. I've got 4 gig RAM installed. Apple lists this chip as working with Final Cut Pro X. Has anyone tried it on a Macbook? Is the performance adequate or should I wait until I get a more powerful laptop?

Yep, I've got a Macbook with that chipset and it runs FCPX. It's not blindingly quick but it work.

  • Has anyone tried home sharing between mac and windows using parallels on the same machine?

I recently purchased a mac, and plan to set up parallels for windows and windows 7 so that I can use the Windows version of Over Drive Media Console from the library and download WMA files in windows (limitation with mac version for wma downloads). I would like to synch to iTunes on the Mac iOS, but will need iTunes available in Windows to transfer the books I download in WMA format from the library to my iphone. Has anyone tried this? Any success or suggestions would be appreciated!

In case anyone is interested, last night I installed Paralells, Windows, Overdrive Media Console on Windows, and then was able to download my book in WMA format. I was hoping parallels would allow me to crossover sync to iTunes on the Mac and have Overdrive recognize that I had iTunes open, but I had to choose Windows or Mac when connecting my phone through the USB and had to choose Windows in order for it to successfully transfer. I was able to get it to work it is now synced to iTunes in Windows. The nice thing was that it pulled in all my music/apps that I had set up in the Mac side, so I didn't have to go through that exercise again. I tested it on my old phone. Now I need to decide if I want to set up my current phone on Windows or Mac, it seems that once synched it only opens the device in windows, I haven't figured out how to force the choice between mac or window again. If I do windows, I can't take advantage of the cloud or iphoto/imovie directly. I'm totally new to mac, but I think I'll have to import my photos manually.

  • Has anyone tried this? AutoMailMerge Plug-in for Adobe Acrobat

Mail Merge in Acrobat 9 Professional?
    Hi, All!
I have been told that I can perform a mail merge similar to MS Word from within Acrobat Pro 9. The main document (with merge type fields) needs to be an Acrobat .pdf. The data source can come from an external file. The key is that the merge is performed in Acrobat, not Word.
I have searched throughout Acrobat Pro 9 but have found no functionality that matches my needs. Can anyone help me with this?
I was informed the there is this outside company that has this "AutoMailMerge™ Plug-in for Adobe® Acrobat®"
    http://www.evermap.com/automailmerge.asp
Has anyone tried this? Does it work? Will it do what I'm looking do?
    Please help!
    Thank you!

there are four episodes from MacBreak Studio avail for free, which explains MultiCam in FCPX
    http://youtu.be/gNOfgBClIvQ
    http://youtu.be/qKhmZbVgywk
    http://youtu.be/eeQzOycTlOU
    http://youtu.be/RS5Ct3I8Yrs
… in there, you'll find some not-so-known 'tricks' to fasten the process of synching, such as using Markers (not 'on beat' just 'approx').
I tried with my multicam soccer-recordings = no music (aside the referee's whistle ), and FCPX managed indeed to synch this stuff - impressive!

  • Has anyone tried

Has anyone tried creating sections in a Crystal Report where analytic comments (or any sort of text) is fed in from a database. I am trying to build a report where users have entered comments (into an Access database) to accompany the charts and graphs on a report.
The main idea is to have these comments auto populate in the report when it is run just like the rest of the data fields.
Does anyone have experience with anything similar to this?

You can insert a section in a group (it will insert below whatever is already there), then drag the field into the report, select can grow, and see what you get.....
