Has anyone ued a pnm2ppa driver in an Intel iMac?

I can use my old HP 722C printer in the XP partition of my new Intel iMac, but even though the iMac System Profiler recognizes that I have an IEEE-1284 USB cable attached to a 720C series printer, the printer will not print in the OS X partition.
A search found a pnm2ppa driver that is supposed to work with Mac OS X. Has anyone had any experience with this driver on an >Intel< iMac?

This install is not for the faint of heart.

Has anyone found a workaround driver for using a Xerox WorkCentre PE220 Series printer with Mountain Lion?

    John -
My "Use" menu only contains Apple print drivers.  And Canon drivers, from the location I set this machine up.  None for my home use....which is a Xerox machine.
Not being on the menu, I don't know how to acquire this generic driver.
    Any further helpful hints?
I appreciate your thoughts and help.

  • Has anyone else's disk drive stopped working on their iMac

Has anyone else's disk drive on their iMac stopped working? Mine will only play some DVDs and CDs but not all of them

Optical drives get dirty. Try a drive cleaning disk first, They are inexpensive and often restore function when Techs have pronounced the drive in need of replacement.

  • Has anyone tried 1 terabyte drives with Apple G5 PCI RAID card 1M9699g?

I am planning on setting up RAID 5 on one of my PPC G5 Xservers with an Apple PCI RAID card and 3 Hitachi 1 terabyte HDs. At $180 a drive and a $300 or so for a card this seems like a good setup. Has anyone tried this or have any suggestions.

It worked, for about $860 I now have a 1.8 TB xServer

  • Can i put a bigger hard drive in my intel imac?

    Hi,
Is it possible to replace the internal hard drive in my 17" imac Intel core duo for a larger capacity drive?
I did this on the first gen G5 imac ok but i'm not sure about the intel model, i was thinking of a 250gb or something.
What type of drive would it be, 3.5" SATA?

The following is quoted from Section 700.10.c of the Magnussen-Moss Warranty Act:
    (c) No warrantor may condition the continued validity of a warranty on the use of only authorized repair service and/or authorized replacement parts for non-warranty service and maintenance. For example, provisions such as, “This warranty is void if service is performed by anyone other than an authorized ‘ABC’ dealer and all replacement parts must be genuine ‘ABC’ parts,” and the like, are prohibited where the service or parts are not covered by the warranty. These provisions violate the Act in two ways. First, they violate the section 102 (c) ban against tying arrangements. Second, such provisions are deceptive under section 110 of the Act, because a warrantor cannot, as a matter of law, avoid liability under a written warranty where a defect is unrelated to the use by a consumer of “unauthorized” articles or service. This does not preclude a warrantor from expressly excluding liability for defects or damage caused by such “unauthorized” articles or service; nor does it preclude the warrantor from denying liability where the warrantor can demonstrate that the defect or damage was so caused.

  • Where can I get a new hard drive for my intel imac?  **** thing dumped, less than 3 years old.

This is my first mac and the **** hard drive crashed in only 2+ years and of course the waranty is expired.  Can I replace the hard drive with any 3.5" replacement or do I need something special.  And if I do where can I get it?  I didn't see anything specifically for an intel imac at apple store.  I don't want to pay apple to install it, already spent enough money on this disappointing purchase.

any 3.5" Sata drive will do.  I recommend http://www.macsales.com/, or http://www.newegg.com/

  • Minor problem after swapping boot drive in 24" intel iMac

After cloning a healthy internal 750 GB boot drive (24" early 2008 iMac) to a new 2T seagate drive and swapping them, everything seems fine except that every time I open an application, I get a warning window saying I'm opening the application for the first time. How can I fix this?
    Thanks, David

Thanks for the response. It was happening multiple times upon opening any application. Now, magically after your response, it's not happening even on apps I haven't opened since the swap. Your mojo is very powerful, you could make a fortune as an online tech fixer.

  • Super Drive in my Intel iMac making noise

My 21" Intel iMac (v.10.8.3) super drive just started making this chattering sound when I inserted a disc.
I had copied 4 CD's to iTunes, then the fifth started to make that loud chattering noise.
I ejected the disc and cleaned it up but that didn't help.

  • Has anyone found the correct driver for Canon MF4018 printer?

I have tried installing all of the available drivers including MF4010 which other users have reported works- I keep getting Error-50 and cannot print anything. If anyone has used any driver for this printer that is compatible with my macbook pro - that could help me out a lot.

Since it's a 10.8 issue, why not place a new post in the 10.8 usage forum?

  • Has anyone created a device driver for the DG101 Programmable Delay Generator?

I am wondering if anyone has written a LabVIEW driver for the DG101 Programmable Delay Generator third party device?

I have looked at the instrument driver network and there is nothing listed there.  The board comes with the source code for the device as well as a gui to run under windows but I am working on the PXI-8196 embedded controller running a RTOS so the .dll that comes with the board is not compatible.   I have been on the phone and email with NI over the last 3-4 weeks trying to figure out how to import the .dll, how to wrap the .dll, and how to create a new .dll.  I spoke with someone yesterday and they told me that I would have to write a register level interface driver to work with the board and that it is very difficult for even the most experienced person.  They suggested I outsource it but I was just curious, seeing that this board belongs to a very small community of programmable delay generators, that someone may have written a driver that is available.
    Thanks,

  • Has Anyone Partitioned their Hard Drive in 3 Three?

I have decided to partition the new 750GB internal hard drive I have purchased into 3 partitions.
The reason for is I will be using both Snow Leopard and Lion so I will need a partition for each of these in addition to one data partition.
The data partition should save space not having to install my photos, music etc and certain applications on both.
My main problem is I now have the confusing task of deciding how much space to allocate into each partition. How much should I give to the Snow Leopard, Lion and Data partitions and why? Below is some general information
    750GB to play with
Need to create partitions Lion, Snow Leopard and Data
My new hard drive is a Seagate hybrid drive (part SSD, part HDD) if this makes a difference
If anyone has done 3 partitions before regardless of what OS's you installed I would  greatful if replied. Many thanks.
    All help appreciated

    Thanks thats helpful.
So I assume what I need to do to determine the partition sizes is...
Calculate total size of these of each different the groups of applications
Add the size the size of the OS
Add about 15% plus on top of the space required for "breathing room"
...does that sound about right to you?
Are there any other applications that you tell that need the Library/ special files?
What is the best way for me to find out these which these applications Library and special files?
This good I feel I'm getting some where

  • Has anyone got the linux driver installed on Fedora Core

Hi I've read a heap on the forum about the linux beta driver and the horror people seem to have to install it. I have no idea what I need to do to recompile a copy of the kernel so I am hoping there's someone with Fedora Core 7 that has got this driver to install that would be willing to help me out with it.
    All help would be appreciated
    Thanks.

Solved with the kind assistance of paulricardomc on the Ubuntu Forums: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1477507
    Short version of the fix:
    1. Extract the edid from the Windows partition using softMCCS, saving as edid.bin
    2. Save the edid.bin file in /etc/X11 (or wherever you like)
    3. Include the following in the device section of your xorg.conf:
    "Option"  "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP-0"
    "Option" "CustomEDID" "DFP-0:/etc/X11/edid.bin"
Fire up X and you're good to go.

  • Has anyone ever written a driver for LabVIEW for Omega CN9500 process contollers w/Modbus protocol over RS485?

Omega has a protocol manual to facilitate this on their web site

    Jay,
Most folks use an OPC Server, such as Lookout Protocol Drivers (sold under package "IA OPC Servers") to communicate with devices using the Modbus protocol from LabVIEW. The KnowledgeBase below describes this method in detail.
Drivers for Communicating to PLCs, RTUs, and Other Industrial Hardware"
As for direct Modbus protocol VIs for LabVIEW - I have never personally used them, but I have seen many Developer Exchange posts in the past where folks have used and recommended them. Simply search this developer exchange for "modbus AND labview" and numberous discussion threads on this topic will be returned.
