I've just noticed this inexpensive app which looks interesting.

I assume you are referring to Event Manager which I also found extremely good.
On the face of it, this looks rather like EM's successor plus a more "FCP X" looking interface.
At first sight it promises to be a "must have" app, but it's only by using it that its true worth and any potential flaws will be revealed.
What's good is that you can download the demo version (not quite fully functional) to try out before you buy.

Why can't I use final cut pro 7 with Mavericks?

Why can't I use final cut pro 7 with Mavericks? Is any one else having problems? All my media is reputedly "offline" even though I can see all the files. Using the reconnect to media function doesn't do a thing. All of my previous projects are the same. Any ideas would be most welcome!

I'm sorry, John, but your statement seems like utter nonsense and is misleading for others. First being able to update apps doesn't cross my mind as a main functionality for travel. Second I was just travelling to SC and easily installed a new app from iPhone and updated an existing one. In your case I believe there's a mishap with AppStore. Probably you have a false update notification. Just compare versions of the apps you have with the versions of the same apps AppStore shows. I bet version are same. That's why it doesn't let you install.
If you want to sync your iPhone Contacts and Calendar (which seems more like a genuine travel requirement) you can do it via MobileMe or Yahoo and few other similar web services.

I have it running on the latest NON-Retina MBP. And a good friend of mine has it running on his Retina model. Works fine.

You really should look at moving on though...not sticking with FCP7. It's 4 years old...two years since it was EOL. Adobe Premiere Pro CC is a very good FCP replacement...although I don't like their "rental" method of paying a subscription to use it. Or you can buy Adobe CS6...but that just lacks enough to make it not quite tempting for me. Premiere CC is spot on...but **** if I don't hate that subscription model. But there's also Avid Media Composer. But that doesn't do a lot of things that I used FCP and Adobe for...

Is It Safe To Use Final Cut Studio 3 With Snow Leopard Yet?

Because of the many problems I heard about using FCS3 with Snow Leopard when they both first came out, I've held off upgrading my OS from 10.5.8. Now that some time has passed, is it safe to install Snow Leopard without worrying about freezes and crashes with using Final Cut Studio 3? Also, have most of the 3d party software developers updated their apps for 10.6? I'd like to install Snow Leopard for my other apps but not at the expense of FCS.

Hi Jeff, Be sure to also check any aftermarket video cards, firwire cards, all pci cards, external drives external raid / internal raid cards... make sure all are SL compatible and supported. I have not yet upgraded because I'm in the middle of post on a documentary. When I do upgrade, it will be a clean install, not an upgrade. Please let me know how it turns out.

Has anyone used the Seagate wireless plus with an iPad?

I would like to use this wireless external drive to store videos and then stream them to my iPad. Has anyone used this drive and if so how do you like it?

I am frustruated with the Seagate Wireless Plus. I think most of you just download movies in it and then watch it on your tablet. I thought this can be my external storage for everything including the content of my iPad. Not so easy!!! I can't see anything from the content of my iPad when I connect it wirelessly to Seagate. I wrote to Seagate and apparently there is another thing called WebDav in order to do it. I think Windows are winning here how easy it is to connect devices. Simply, I can see the demo stuff from the Seagate on my iPad but nothing the other way, no pictures, no music, no videos stored on my iPad can be seen from the Seagate. If there is somebody who can explain to me how to do it before I will return the Seagate to the retailer please do it in a way normal people understand. Don't say "I think" as most of people in these forums do, please say only "I know" and lead me step by step what to do. I have the latest iPad mini with iOS7, 32GB WiFi & Cellular with Retina display. I've already updated the Seagate OS to 2.2.0.005 exactly as they advise by installing the 2.1.0.014 prior to that.
Please forgive me for the tone but those 10 hours I spent so far without any results are too valuable to me.

Has anyone used a USB device server with a DAQmx or NI-VISA USB device?

I have an application where I need to communicate with USB devices (some through DAQmx, others through NI-VISA) that will be more than 15 feet away from the controlling PC. I could use USB-ethernet-USB dongles, but I also see that there are USB-over-ethernet device servers available (like this one: http://www.usbgear.com/computer_cable_details.cfm?sku=USBNET-400&cats=104&catid=187%2C188%2C104%2C65...). Has anyone used these or similar USB device servers successfully with LabVIEW?

TA26012 Has anyone used keyring 808 spy camera with an itouch and rendered with good results in final cut pro ?

I am using spy camera 808 which has the same 1280 by 720 H264 AAC as an itouch for filming.
Problems occour in fincal cut pro 6.06 on export if i export 808 on its own no issue the issue is the itouch messes up the time liine on sound video, example 20 min video 10 mins 808 and 10 mins itouch equals 12 mins.
So has anyone actualy with the power pc g5 and final cut pro 6.06 had a method where it is succseful for a simple export to quicktime ?
Just tried it with itouch in final cut and fcpro says does not match settings so i let fcpro choose audio needed render that was it export of 5 mins came out as 30 seconds.
So question stands has anyone found a suitable way to bring in itouch video and export in final cut with out issues.?
ps i brought the video in with "image capture" and iphoto no change.

My plan is as follows:
-Make a full backup copy of System Drive on an external drive
-Boot from OS Install Disc > use Disk Utility to Erase/Write Zeros to drive
-Install Snow Leopard
-Install FCP, etc.
-Delete "Capture" directory from external "Scratch Disk"
-Transfer all remaining files to another external drive
-Reformat "Scratch Disk
-Cross fingers
-Begin transcoding process again---frequently checking files for errors
I'll let you know how it goes. Still open to other thoughts and suggestions...

Can't use Final Cut Studio 3 with Snow Leopard

Dear all,
I recently did a fresh install of Snow Leopard. Everything seems to work well beside the software which i use the most. Final Cut Studio.
Fortunately Final Cut Pro is working quite well but all the other softwares of the package are basically impossible to use. Soundtrack Pro, Motion, Compressor and DVD Studio Pro are always crashing. I cannot save a project with any of them. Wether I get the spinning ball till the end of the days or they just crash.
Now, researching the topic on forums, I could notice I'm definitely not alone.
I tried everything I found: performing a new reinstall of FCS, performing a new install after cleaning all the old files with tools such as FC remover and Digital Rebellion's Pro Maintenance Tools, performing a new install removing old files and preferences manually. I created a new ID on my mac and tried to work from that.. same story.
I'm out of ideas, I wouldn't like to perform a new fresh install of the OS (moreover it will not give me any guarantee of success) and I'll appreciate the help of anyone who might give me any new input.
I can attach the reports of the crash, not sure which is the relevant part thou.

Has anyone received Final Cut Studio 2 yet?

I just noticed that the Apple Store now says that Final Cut Studio ships in 3-5 business days. I've got one on order and I'm waiting anxiously--has anyone received it yet?

I just got it. Really cool, absolutely worth the price.
Only downside is the same legacy interface of Final Cut Pro... It's what pros are used to and I didn't expect a radical change but the truth is that FCP is the only with an OS-9 carbon feel (just look at the dialog windows, icons, etc.). It's not just a matter of eye-candy it's also a matter of usability and coherence with the other apps -born in OS X- of the Studio (Motion, Soundtrack, etc.). Let's hope this will come in version 7.

Has anyone used Final Draft?

I aplogize this is probably not the correct forum but I couldn't find one for Final Draft.
Does anyone have any input on using Final Draft? Ease of use, good, bad or otherwise?
Of if someone could lead me to the right spot to better ask this that would be appreciated as well.
I'm also looking to see if anyone has any experience with a program called Scrivener to see if it is worth spending the extra $150 on Final Draft or just spend $45 on Scrivener.

I'm more interested in writing screenplays. I've actually used scrivener briefly to write a short play and I did start writing a screenplay with it also, but had to quit for a while. (It was a friends version of Scrivener so I don't have it any more) Now I want to get started on the screenplay again and am trying to decide if it's worth the $200 just to get Final Draft. It looks like FD is used by lots of writers so....must be good. Sometimes easy is worth the extra investment. But if it isn't much, much better than Scrivener, I'll just use that.
One other thing.
If I have several scenes written on Scrivener, can I transfer them to Final Draft or won't FD import the text correctly?
