Has anyone used the the Airport Express with their Direct TV unit?

I have a DirectTV HD DVR (HR20) receiver that allows OnDemand, however, I need an internet connection. The problem is my router is in a completely different area of the house. Has anyone tried to connect wirelessly?

Oops...maybe I should mention; I am using the usb because there is no audio input on the mac. Also, I am using a Lexicon Alpha usb interface. I am miking with an Audio Technica 2020.

I'm sorry, John, but your statement seems like utter nonsense and is misleading for others. First being able to update apps doesn't cross my mind as a main functionality for travel. Second I was just travelling to SC and easily installed a new app from iPhone and updated an existing one. In your case I believe there's a mishap with AppStore. Probably you have a false update notification. Just compare versions of the apps you have with the versions of the same apps AppStore shows. I bet version are same. That's why it doesn't let you install.
If you want to sync your iPhone Contacts and Calendar (which seems more like a genuine travel requirement) you can do it via MobileMe or Yahoo and few other similar web services.

The iWeb Application will still run after Mobile Me will be turned off; you can export your web pages to a folder on your hard disk and use ftp to upload the pages to another hosting service.
The generated webpages however will refer to icons located on the mobile me server. To make the forward/backward arrows in slide shows work again you will have to patch the iWeb Application. See Old Toad's tutorial on how to do this:

Has anyone used a USB device server with a DAQmx or NI-VISA USB device?

Hi,
I have an application where I need to communicate with USB devices (some through DAQmx, others through NI-VISA) that will be more than 15 feet away from the controlling PC. I could use USB-ethernet-USB dongles, but I also see that there are USB-over-ethernet device servers available (like this one: http://www.usbgear.com/computer_cable_details.cfm?sku=USBNET-400&cats=104&catid=187%2C188%2C104%2C65...). Has anyone used these or similar USB device servers successfully with LabVIEW?

I assume you are referring to Event Manager which I also found extremely good.
On the face of it, this looks rather like EM's successor plus a more "FCP X" looking interface.
At first sight it promises to be a "must have" app, but it's only by using it that its true worth and any potential flaws will be revealed.
What's good is that you can download the demo version (not quite fully functional) to try out before you buy.

TA26012 Has anyone used keyring 808 spy camera with an itouch and rendered with good results in final cut pro ?

I am using spy camera 808 which has the same 1280 by 720 H264 AAC as an itouch for filming.
Problems occour in fincal cut pro 6.06 on export if i export 808 on its own no issue the issue is the itouch messes up the time liine on sound video, example 20 min video 10 mins 808 and 10 mins itouch equals 12 mins.
So has anyone actualy with the power pc g5 and final cut pro 6.06 had a method where it is succseful for a simple export to quicktime ?
Just tried it with itouch in final cut and fcpro says does not match settings so i let fcpro choose audio needed render that was it export of 5 mins came out as 30 seconds.
So question stands has anyone found a suitable way to bring in itouch video and export in final cut with out issues.?
ps i brought the video in with "image capture" and iphoto no change.

My plan is as follows:
-Make a full backup copy of System Drive on an external drive
-Boot from OS Install Disc > use Disk Utility to Erase/Write Zeros to drive
-Install Snow Leopard
-Install FCP, etc.
-Delete "Capture" directory from external "Scratch Disk"
-Transfer all remaining files to another external drive
-Reformat "Scratch Disk
-Cross fingers
-Begin transcoding process again---frequently checking files for errors
I'll let you know how it goes. Still open to other thoughts and suggestions...

Using 1st gen airport express with mavericks

When I upgraded to Mavericks, the updated Airport Utility dosen't support my version of airport express 1st generation. The old version of airport utility is not supported by mavericks. There is a version on the website that appears it may work, but I can't install it because their is a new version already installed. I cannot delete the new version, because the sytem blocks it with a message that it is necessary for the operating system.

Mavericks certainly will support a 1st Gen version of the AirPort Express, so chances are......you do not have a 1st Gen Express.
Please check the model number on the side of your Express. It starts with an "A" followed by four numbers.
A 1st Gen version is A1264. I imagine that you have A1084 or A1088, which are much older versions than the 1st Gen "n" Express,which was introduced in 2008.
Witht the A1084 or A1088, you will need to use another Mac running Leopard, Snow Leopard, or another PC to be able to administer the older AirPorts.

You may get another opinion on this from another user, but I do not recommend this either, based on a number of experimens over the years with this.
Access to your data on the drive will be much slower. iTunes will tend to "lose" the library this way and you will have to re-point the iTunes application at the library on a regular basis.
Things are even worse with the iPhoto library. The experts over in the iPhoto support area strongly advise that you do not do this, since any break in communication between the iPhoto application and iPhoto library can easily corrupt the entire library. A wireless connection makes things even more dicey.
My advice......Use a drive connected to the Extreme for storage or other backup copies of data.....not for "working" files or libraries.
But, you may get some other opinions from users here.

i just bought my first imac (intel) and a wireless hp printer. i now realize that a wireless connection between my imac and my printer needs a router.
i have an airport express base station, which is a few years old. I can't find my documentation, so i don't know its specifications.
how can i find out the specs of the airport express i have and whether i can use it now? it says that it is model a1084 100-240v~ 0.2a 50-60 hz.
does that tell any knowledgeable people out there about the specs? can i search the apple website by serial number and find the specs?

What "online customer assist" are you referring to? The only entity at Apple that could or would help you with this issue is Apple Developer Support. Is that who you contacted?
In any case, are you referring to the capacity of the iPad itself? If so, a 16GB will be fine for testing unless you have it loaded up with too much stuff for your app to load and run. If that's not what you meant, please clarify.

Hi,
NI-VISA 3.0 is the only driver in LabVIEW that would give you access to an USB device. You would probably use NI-VISA USB Raw mode.
To use the VISA driver you need to know in detail how the device works and how to program with USB. There isn't too much documentation, but if you are clear on those two things it should be easier to get familiar with the NI-VISA API.
You'll need the USB specification (www.usb.org). Also check the NI-VISA Programmer Reference Manual

Has anyone used Scribe Online to interact with Eloqua's API?

I've been experimenting with Scribe Online via an ON24 integration and was interested if anyone has queried the activity and contact tables with Scribe Online. So far it's an easy drag and drop between entities, although the complex part is formulas within the logic.
A current test I'm working on is to pull email activity (Email Name that was Opened and the last activity date), link it to a contact with a SFDC Lead ID and then populate that via a field in SFDC. I'd eventually like to experiment with advanced visual reporting to get a true idea on the activity of our database.

I have a PCI-MIO-16XE-50 daq card (dev1) connected to a scxi-1000 chassis address 0 ID 1, with a scxi-1102,1163,1163,1162 slots 1,2,3,4 respectively.Cable is connected to daq card to 1102 card .Micro touch screen is used on com2. Have tried other serial ports 1,5. Touch screen works fine with windows until LabView and max is installed .Video lockups,Max failures occur.MAX seems to confict with touch screen.

Max is the NI interface for all the drivers. It may be a specific driver that is causing problems, perhaps NI-VISA. I would try installing things one piece at a time. Might want to start by uninstalling everything so that you start with a clean system. First install LabVIEW with no drivers at all. See if the Micro touch screen still works. Then try installing NI-DAQ. Install each of the drivers you need one at a time. If you don't need something, leave it out.
