Has anyone used their Ipod touch standard warranty???

Was there a $40 service charge for yours too?? That's ridiculous. What for?

Well what was the problem with your iPod.
It is physically impossible to run out of a year-long warranty in 9 months.
If you were the reason that the problem happened, then yes you would be charged

how can i get this ipod reset.  She now has an iphone so this is going to be used by someone else in the family and should be simple to do but itunes just keeps booting it out even though it recognises that it was previously connected to our itunes account as all of the children were on my account

That has nothing to do with an update server. Do the following:
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

  • Anyone using an iPod touch 4g with Vulkano Flow?

I'm using Vulkano Flow with a PC, and iPad3 and an Ipod touch 4g iOS 5.1--all wireless.  Everything is using the same network in the same location.  The PC and iPad are working great (2.5-3.5Mbps) but the iPod is constantly "buffering" and pausing every 3 seconds until it just says try again later.
Is anyone else using the Vulkano and what kind of results are you getting?   Anyone have any suggestions?  I've tried removing and reinstalling the Vulkano Player App with no change.  I'm using the same settings for all devices.

Try the following to ryle out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Has anyone solved the iPod touch and Comcast email problem?

The reason I got a touch is to check email when traveling. As of a few weeks ago, I could no longer do this. The comcast.net page now requires Flash and directs me to the install page (which I cannot download to the touch). I asked about this at the Apple Store and the touch doesn't have/cannot have Flash.
Has anyone figured out how to get past the Flash page to just sign in and get email? I am going around with Comcast about this -- they continue to mix up the iPhone and the touch. I will post if I get a solution from them. In the meantime, can anyone help?

If you do NOT have the January Software Update, you must use the Webmail for Comcast. from Safari, type in http://mobilebeta.comcast.net works as advertised.
If you have purchase the January Software update:
    Click 'Mail' Application
    Click 'Other'
    POP Information
'Name' is whatever name you want to call the account
    'Address' is you email address
'Description' Whatever you want to call the account
    Incoming Mail Server
    Host Name = mail.comcast.net
User Name = [Your email address]
Password = [Your password] THIS IS CASE SENSITIVE
    Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
    Host Name: smtp.comcast.net
User Name = [Your email address]
Password = [Your password] THIS IS CASE SENSITIVE
It is really easy: just followed comcast for Outlook link

  • Has anyone used their Galaxy Nexus in Europe?

Verizon Tech support told me that I could, but i wanted to confirm with you all.  Can i only use the data over there?  or can i also get voice?  I need to order a new phone for work and I'd like to use this, however i travel to China and EU.
Any first hand feedback would be great, but i'll take any comments.
    TIA,
    Alan

Europe runs primarily on GSM technology which is not compatible with Verizon's CDMA technology. To use a Verizon phone in Europe you'd likely have to have a "world phone" which would contain both CDMA and GSM radios. Although I love the Galaxy Nexus and it should work in Asia, you'll have a tough time in Europe.
You might want to consider the upcoming Galaxy S III, which has both CDMA and GSM radios. Preorders start tomorrow, the device will likely be out later in June or sometime in July. This will probably be your best bet for a great phone that can work anywhere in the world, aside from the iPhone 4S.

  • Has anyone download the Airport Utility app on their iPod Touch or iPhone?

Just was wondering if anyone downloaded the Airport Utility app from the app store onto their iPod Touch, iPad or iPhone? You can see a picture of your Time Capsule's nework and a picture of your Time Capsule right on your iOS device (iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad) and it's quite nice that you can actually see a picture of your network. It shows current status and a diagram/picture of your network. You can also make changes to your network right from your iOS device. This is a nice feature to have on your portable device.
I was just wondering how anyone else liked this feature?

    Here's what Apple recommends:

Keep liquids away from the product.

my daughter has a brand new ipod touch - latest one - she started to input a passcode then didn't finish the process then turned off ipod. she turned it back on and it is asking for a passcode - she doesn't remember what she typed. Ipod is now disabled for one hour. Can we override the disable. How do we reset passcode when we don't klnow the original. It has never been synced to Itunes. I am completely lost.

If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
backup to restore, then restore as New.

  • Anyone just use their ipod caseless?

after 3 days of having my black nano it has gotten a fair amount of scratches, non of which are deep, just from sliding it in and out of the slip.
so now ive had all this stress trying to pick a case, at my school they sell a clear silicone one with screen protector and attatchable armband, so i almost got that. but then i thought maybe my ipod wouldnt look good in it, so i was looking at the agent 18, but its frosted and black doesnt seem to look spectacular in it.
does anyone here use their ipod without one of these flashy cases for the gym or anything? and has your nano suffered it? i've read around the forum on repairing scratches, so worst comes to worst fix it...

http://podshop.com/idrops.html thats the link i prefer icleaner though. http://icleaner.com/ i dont use a case sometimes i just remove scratches when they get too bad.

  • Has anyone used MC Helper to reset hotmail on their Mac?

Has anyone used MC Helper to reset hotmail on their Mac. I just did and I'm am worried as I gave them access to my computer over the phone. They have solved access to my hotmail account though, but they charged $200 for it plus a years free support. I was very suspicious but in the end went ahead. I now fear that they may be a scam of sorts. They could have implanted or encrypted something on my mac. Is this likely? Does anyone know? I'd be most grateful.

LogMeIn Rescue is for one time support. This is a common tool used to support users. Microsoft uses it when they do support. I use one of the LogMeIn products myself when working with clients.

I guess if you travel the iPhone is not the device to buy.
And which device to buy for travel? As far as I know other smartphone platforms even don't have an update facility like AppStore. And by the way what are your criteria for the perfect travel phone? I would place being able to use it in other countries (world phone), having easy access to internet and email and ability to remotely sync Contacts and Calendar on top of my list. All of which iPhone is capable like few other phones.
I'm sorry, John, but your statement seems like utter nonsense and is misleading for others. First being able to update apps doesn't cross my mind as a main functionality for travel. Second I was just travelling to SC and easily installed a new app from iPhone and updated an existing one. In your case I believe there's a mishap with AppStore. Probably you have a false update notification. Just compare versions of the apps you have with the versions of the same apps AppStore shows. I bet version are same. That's why it doesn't let you install.
If you want to sync your iPhone Contacts and Calendar (which seems more like a genuine travel requirement) you can do it via MobileMe or Yahoo and few other similar web services.
