Has anyone written an addon to enable Photoshop action sets to be grouped within sets?

Hello all,
What it says on the tin. It seems such a simple UI issue but it's a real problem for me, not being able to make any level of hierarchies in the action panel. Any news on a solution?
Best,
Simon Justice

I'll take that as a 'no', then.
Suspect there will be more effort put in to 'how to get more hi-res hippocons onto an iPhone' than basic hierarchies. Come on it's so simple even Microsoft can do it

  • Has anyone written an ASIO sound card VI?

Has anyone used ASIO sound card drivers with LabVIEW?  I've seen a few requests for it, but no one has posted anything useful.
The standard LabVIEW sound VIs use lvsound2.llb, which seems to talk to DirectSound on Windows.
    Thanks.

Here is a follow-up to my posting on 5/17/2009, where I pointed out that we have an ASIO interface available for LabVIEW at http://www.lasi.arizona.edu/.  If you are interested in this software, please contact me at:
    Ben Sternberg
    University of Arizona
    Laboratory for Advanced Subsurface Imaging
    [email protected]
Previous users of our software have reported a wide range of applicability for this software. This applicability has changed as the ASIO software and LabView program evolved.   Our ASIO driver no longer works with the recent versions of LabView (LabVIEW 2010 and newer).
    Some possibilities are:
1). Our ASIO driver will work with older versions of LabView (LabVIEW 2009 and older).  There are often a number of sellers on EBay who are selling older versions of LabView.  You can then use a program with the ASIO driver with this older version.
2). Produce an executable of your program (using an older version of LabView) that can then be used without even having a copy of LabView on your computer.
3). Modify the ASIO driver for the newest version of LabView.
The following is a further explanation of the history and current limitations of the code, which was prepared by Terry Leach, the consultant who wrote the ASIO interface and the GenMon data acquisition program for us.
Our ASIO interface was built in LabView 6.x using the CIN (code interface node) technology.  Source code to interface to the ASIO 2.0 sound driver was obtained from Steinberg.  http://www.steinberg.net/en/home.html
This development was performed under an NSF grant obtained and managed by Dr. Ben Sternberg of the University of Arizona.
During the development time, our ASIO interface consisted of expanding and generalizing the Steinberg code to allow easy creation of "channel" C++ objects as well as status bits to track ASIO sound buffer performance in real time.  In addition C++ code was added so that we could call the Steinberg interface from the LabView development environment.  This code was compiled and built into a CIN.  The CIN was then incorporated as a binary directly into ASIO.vi.  ASIO.vi then became our interface to the sound driver when in the LabView development environment.  Several LabView applications were built making use of ASIO.vi.  There are three distinct layers to the sound interface.  The lowest layer being the ASIO 2.0 compliant driver of whatever hardware you intended to access.  The intermediate layer being the Steinberg/UofA/LV CIN, and the final layer being ASIO.vi and its use in your application program.
Our applications, built on point acquisitions which were always a power of 2 (supporting real time FFT calculation), meshed very well with sound buffer sizes which were also powers of 2.  The ASIO driver, at that time, supported a maximum sound buffer size of 16384 points.  As the ASIO interface is built on double buffering this gave us 16384/(sample rate) = seconds of time to perform our application calculations in real time.
    Several things happened over time.
1).  The ASIO 2.0 driver's (low layer, for Echo Audio equipment) maximum point buffer was reduced from 16384 points to 2048 points.  This reduced our application's processing time (prior to sound buffer lossage) to 1/8.  While it would be possible to modify the middle layer to manage a virtual sound buffer of larger size, no further development funding was available.
2).  The Steinberg code hard coded the name of the ASIO 2.0 compliant driver to be found and instantiated from the Windows Registry.  As the hardware vendor produced new hardware and subsequent upgrades of the ASIO 2.0 driver to support that hardware, they also changed the name of the driver in the Windows Registry.  For a quick fix, this required recompilation and rebuilding of the ASIO CIN, and subsequent update of the ASIO.vi.  It would also be possible to scan the Windows Registry and let the user pick which ASIO 2.0 compliant driver to use.
3).  As of LabView 2010, National Instruments no longer supports the CIN development interface.  This makes it impossible to update the CIN as required by the aforementioned item.  While it would be possible to convert the CIN to a DLL, we do not have funding available for this modification at this time.
To use the ASIO.vi LabView interface at this time, without further development, means running under an older version of LabView.  It may also mean a recompilation and rebuilding of the ASIO CIN contained in ASIO.vi if the name of the ASIO 2.0 compliant driver in the Windows Registry does not match that hard coded into the ASIO CIN.

  • Photoshop Actions: Problem with layer groups

I have recorded several photoshop actions with multiple adjustment layers in layer groups. They work perfectly fine, as long as I do not run a second action with a layer group in it.
As soon as I run a second action with layer groups, the layer order is completely random and messed up. How can I avoid this problem?

  • Has anyone found any info on stopping Photoshop & DreamWeaver CC from crashing?

Aodobe thinks the issue is that my DELL 620 i5 with 6GB RAM 2 TB drive 500GB scratch disk and Windows 7 64bit is the problem. However, since the system is just over a yr old I do not want toreplace it just to make the CC products run.So does anyone have any input or advice to keep Ps and Dw from crashing?
Note the CS6 editions ar3e working fine.
Is it possible to go back to the CS6 editions if youve created PSDs in CC? Is there support for Camera Raw 8.1 in CS6?
HTML, CSS and DWT files created in DreamWeaver CC. Will these files open and work correctly in DreamWeaver CS6?
In order to use PS CC and Dw CC it sounds like I need to get a Windows 8 PC and laptop because CC will not run without problems on either my PC or laptop. I'm just a poor photograpgh so do not have the funds to replace hardware that's only a little over a year old. Is anyone else finding the CC product line "crashy"?

I seem to have found the solution to Photoshop crashing (for me, at least). This answer fixed the problem with CC crashing on open:

  • Has anyone written any Labview code for a Luxtron 790, a SRS RGA 100 or a Spectrapro 300i?

I'm looking for some code to control these three devices. I know I might have to write the code myself but if there is someone out there who has already gone through the trouble, it would save me a lot of time.

Thanks for that info. Unfortunately, I just looking for someone who wrote something to change the grating.  They supply some library functions written in C and they are called using a .Dll, but when i do call them the grating does not change.

  • Has anyone written a BSP development standards document?.

I was wondering if anyone had written any devlopement standards and was willing to share them. With so much code involved I guess there must be some standards.
I've got to put together a standards document for BSP, but I would rather not start from the beginning, given the choice.
    Best regards

    Hi Jas,
    have you seen this book:
    [Official ABAP Programming Guidelines  |http://www.sap-press.de/katalog/buecher/titel/gp/titelID-2093]
It is not about BSP but lots of things in this books can be used.

  • Has anyone found a solution to avoid Photoshop crashes when trying to adjust print settings?

Photoshop CS-5 shuts down when I attempt to adjust print settings such as selecting paper profiles. The Adobe forum suggested installing the latest print drivers and updates to CS-5. The updates did not fix the problem. The printer is an Epson 4880 but I have simile problems with other printers. Have two iMacs with the same problems. I have a Mac Book Pro that I did not update to Yosemite and it works.

I myself having this problem, and the solution for this not yet come. But what i do to solve this problem is that , i just import the picture edit on photoshop, to my browser based Photoshop Online Free Editor, and then give print command from there.

  • Has anyone used the wiki behind a Cisco WebVPN?

I'm trying to use the wiki behind a Cisco WebVPN with little success.
What I think is going on is that as pages are downloaded to the browser, the WebVPN (as it should) translates each link into a WebVPN-specific link (acting essentially as a proxy). When you edit the page and submit, these links get submitted through the web service with the translated links intact, now setting all previously internal links into unusable external links. For some reason the result of this is a page with links fails to save.
Has anyone written a APCF (Application Profile Customization Framework) file that might take care of this, or some imaginative proxy bypass rules or something else? I can't believe I'm the first person to use a combo of a Cisco ASA WebVPN and the Snow Leopard wiki. Any other ideas short of using an ipsec VPN instead?

Ahhh the days of the Creative Nomad Jukebox MP3 Player. Thanks for the bringing back the memories Apple! I had one of those and the USB 1.1 transfer rate took HOURS to fill the Nomad's 6 GB drive. Once it was full, minor updates to playlists were tolerable.
So now for anyone with a pre-2003 Mac will have to cope with USB 1.1 transfer speeds, specifically iBooks and PowerBooks. Desktop Macs can simply add a USB 2.0 card to resolve that problem.
Still, the iPod Nano is a huge improvement over the Mini. FireWire would have been nice since the original iPod was a FireWire device. But, to keep the form factor small, they had to decide on only one transfer protocol...so I guess USB 2.0 won.
Also, Apple will never get rid of FireWire, not even when they start shipping Intel-based Macs. Digital Video is huge, and so is iMovie and Final Cut Pro.

  • Photoshop Actions - PSE

Has anyone downloaded and used any of the actions on "Action Central"
    http://www.atncentral.com/
I have been studying the free actions, but can't really find any information on the actions that will run in Photoshop Elements (I have PSE8).
I find a number of the actions interesting, but want to make sure that there are compatible.

Some do and some don't. The best thing to do is to try the ones that interest you.

  • Has anyone used Trim Enabler on SSD?

Hey, I have a Crucial 512GB SSD that I just installed and I'd like to enable TRIM. Has anyone here used Trim Enabler? I'm hesitant to use it until I get some positive feedback.
    Thanks,
    Clinton

A good way to reach you off post:
Hi Clinton, how are you? Still happy with your 900GBCrucial?
I see that you are on Mavericks: may be you allow me to make some comments about things that used to be good for MBP's:
Trim: we talke about that not so long ago.
Hibernatemode: we used to disable that on our MBP's because with SSD it serves nothing, and it saves a lot of large writes, and takes space; the sleepimage is/was as large as the amount of Ram. No longer in Mavericks: the sleepimage is only a bit less than 1.1GB not much to gain. BUT, even more interesting: when you set Hibernatemode to 0, there still is a sleepimage written , when you "touch" an empty locked sleepimagefile of zero bytes, instead a Swapfile is written of the same size as the sleepimage.
Conclusion, not effective to set hibernatemode to 0 and remove the sleepimage. Good, because want to mess as little as possible in the system files don't we (although it makes us feel a bit special).
    greetings,
    Lex

  • Has anyone figured out how to get speech recognition working with sticky keys enabled on mountain lion?

I'm trying to use speech recognition to input text on my iMac running the latest mountain lion, 10.8.3.
    I have sticky keys enabled.
When I try to start speaking by pressing the function key twice nothing happens. I can only get it to work if I disable sticky keys.
The same problem occurs with all the other modifier keys as shortcut, they do not work with sticky keys.
When I try to select a different shortcut, I am unable to select a two key combination, but am limited to one.
If I select the F6 key, or any other single key, I am able to start speech recognition. However the second time that I press the key, it does not stop recognition and process my words. Instead, it restarts the recognition.
Has anyone figured out how to get speech recognition working with sticky keys enabled?
Or a way to get an individual key shortcut to start on the first press and process it on the second?
Or a way to get key combinations to work, as specified by the help:
    Dictation On and Off
    To use Dictation, click On.
When you’re ready to dictate text, place the insertion point where you want the dictated text to appear and press the Fn (function) key twice. When you see the lighted microphone icon and hear a beep, the microphone is ready for you to speak your text.
    Shortcut
By default, you press the Fn (Function) key twice to start dictation. If you like, you can choose a different shortcut from the menu.
To create a shortcut that’s not in the list, choose Customize, and then press the keys you want to use. You can press two or more keys to create your shortcut.

I noticed with version 10.8.4 of OS X that I am now able to select F6 to activate, and the return key to complete the speech recognition. This is still different than the description of how these should function that's included in the help, but at least it's an improvement.

  • Has anyone else encountered problems with Adobe CMM clobbering Photoshop add-in filters?

I recently tried to install Adobe CMM, as a pop-up window suggested after I installed Photoshop CS5 on a new computer, running Win7x64 Ultimate. Before trying to install CMM, my Akvis Sketch Plug-In for Photoshop worked fine. Afterwards, Akvis Sketch runs under the filters menu, but will not accept mouse clicks from my Wacom tablet. Prior to Adobe CMM, all was fine. Somehow, the frustrating attempt to use Adobe CMM broke links to Akvis Sketch.
By the way, Adobe CMM setup tried to run and vanished without a trace - no indication of success or failure. CMM doesn't show on my control panel as installed software, so I can't de-install it.
I did un-install Akvis Sketch and re-install it. No luck as a filter, nor as a stand-alone program.
Additional point of interest - a second identical software/hardware workstation continues to run Akvis Sketch just fine because we didn't try installing Adobe CMM on that machine. It certainly looks like CMM is the culprit here.
Since Akvis Sketch is broken as a stand-alone, I doubt that de-activating, uninstalling and then re-installing, re-activating Photoshop CS5 will help, but it will take a lot of time to recreate actions and re-install other add-ins, plus preferences settings.
Has anyone else encountered problems with Adobe CMM clobbering Photoshop add-in filters, and have you found a work-around?

Thanks for your response. Recent evidence points to Wacom's tablet driver, not the plug-in.
Fact #1 - another identical system with ms mouse worked fine so I swapped out the Wacom tablet and bingo, the Akvis plug-in works again.
Fact #2 - So does Amazon's Kindle for PC app, which also quit working after running the Adobe CMM setup I'd downloaded.
Suggestion - since there's a legacy for CS5 users getting the "you should download CMM" pop-up, yet no need to do this, maybe Adobe should remove the CMM download page from its website - or flag this download as unneccessary for photoshop users. All Best, Charles Pierce.
