Has anything changed in content rollup?

Hi Everyone,
I have worked with SharePoint since 2001 and now I'm looking into 2013. I still don't see anyway "out of the box" to select a list item or document contained in a sub site and have it show up on another site or the top level
site of a site collection. Am I missing something? I have been playing around with the social media options (aka news feed) but it seems you can only share with people and not others sites. The best I see is that you can instruct users to
"Follow" certain content, however I am looking to push content to certain sites and sub sites within a site collection. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I still can't mark this question as answered because my issue is still unresolved. The 50 item limit is totally unacceptable due to the fact that I want this web part on the home page of the top level site collection. I have at least 50 sub sites
and if the users mark two or three documents as "Important" to the entire team the number of items will be well over a hundred. I anticipate they will actually mark 50 to a 100 documents as "Important" to the entire team so I am looking at a web
part that can display thousands of documents.
Does anyone have any idea how to accomplish this "Out of the Box" or maybe even a third party tool. I have no problem writing a custom web part but I want to be sure I exhaust all other options before going into custom development.

The login method was changed ages ago. I can't remember the rules and limitations but I used to use a username but now use my BBTalk number and password to log in

Hi everybody,
I am in France. I have juste installed Lion. I have to regularly send php files on to a website on a Linux Gentoo under Apache webserver. Up until now I used Smultron (a text and code editor) and saved the files in Mac Os Roman Character encoding. This does not work anymore and the French accuentated characters are not displayed correctly on the web site. The website is ISO-8859-1.
I have tried within Smultron but also within TextEdit, to copy and paste a correctly accentuated version of one of the php files and then save it in another encoding but neither apps let me use Mac Os Roman or Windows Latin or even Latin 1, I can only save using UTF8 and I have the following message :
" This document can no longer be saved using its Western (Iso Latin 1) encoding"
If I type a small text with accents and save it as a php file in Iso Latin 1, it works, but not the big files with php code within...
Anybody can help ? I cannot send links to the web pages because they are password protected.

I find part of your post rather confusing. MacRoman and ISO-8859-1 are totally different and one would not expect the former to display correctly if viewed as the latter.
If TextEdit will only save as UTF-8, it seems like your file must have some character in it, perhaps difficult to see, which is not contained in Latin 1. If you could send me a copy of a file where you have this problem, I could take a look (tom at bluesky dot org).

After installing Firefox 4 Beta 9, using Manual Proxy Configuration fails to connect to the internet and also fails with corporate intranet. Has anything changed?

Initially, Firefox 4 Beta 8 is installed. Manual Proxy Configuration was used, and worked fine.
After installing Beta 9 using the built-in updater, connecting to internet and intranet fails instantly with Page Not Found error. Restarting Firefox does not fix the problem.
Clean install of Beta 9 also exhibits the same problems.

I used to be able to download my applications using the Aplication Manager. However, it no longer available and I guess I need to coome to the Adobe site, sign into my account and download that way. Is this right?

By no longer available do you mean the Adobe Application Manager (AAM) cannot be found on your system, or that the link for launching it does not work? You should be able to download programs by doing to the Apps & Services page at https://creative.adobe.com/apps and clicking on the Download link for the program you want to install. You can also try uninstalling AAM by going to the Control Panel in Windows or Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers and uninstalling AAM. Then relaunch your browser if it is running and sign in. You should see the download link for AAM appear again.

Auto Emptying of Trash Folder... Has It Changed La...

My trash folder in Yahoo mail has always emptied automatically every few days... but for the last two weeks hasn't. Now got around 250 items in there... so has anything changed ? (I know I can empty it manually by the way).

According to the webmail portal..."Deleted messages are moved to the Trash folder temporarily, where they are subject to deletion at anytime"
Which suggests to me that you shouldn't expect consistent and predictable behaviour, once messages are placed there.

HT1529 The latest version of iTunes has completely changed my ability to access my iTunes. I can no longer burn a CD that will play on anything other than another computer.

I'm using iTunes 11.1.1 on a Mac mini running OS 10.7.5 and I burn CDs which play in this machine's external optical drive, my car, and the Pioneer audio CD players downstairs. I typically use Verbatim recordble CDs. After selecting the playlist I want to burn, I make sure that "Audio CD" is selected - this has always been the default for me. If this isn't working for you, I don't know what to say - but I'd suspect the drive you're using to burn CDs is getting wonky.

Compiling: libpango-1.0.dylib has no table of contents on Mac OS X 10.5 PPC

I am trying to build pango-1.36.3 as a dynamic library for Mac OS X 10.5 PPC. This is part of the dependencies I am putting togther, so I can build my own copy of the GIMP. I have built my own GIMP in the past and have had no problems compiling Pango. However, this time, the build fails when trying to link the executable pango-querymodules.
I get an error telling me that I have some undefined symbols. These symbols should be in the copy of libpango-1.0.dylib that was just built. When I find that library and run otool -Tv on it I find that it has no table of contents. When I tried otool -tv to disassemble the text section I find that the symbols are indeed there, but there is an empty table of contents so the library cannot be linked against. I was able to complete the compile when building only static libraries, but I do not want to use this build as the OSX "way" is to use dynamic libraries. I am on a newer installation of OSX 10.5 than when I built Pango earlier, so something must be awry in my build system. BTW, this also happens when trying to build GDK-Pixbuf, another Gnome library. I have not found anything useful on Google after hours of searching.
Can anybody give me a pointer as to where to look to fix this problem?

What causes cellular data usage to decrease if last reset has not changed? I reset every pay period cuz I do not have unlimited and was showing 125 mb sent/1.2g received. Now showing 98mb sent/980mb received. Last reset still shows same

I reset my cellular data usage every month at the beginning of my billing period so that I can keep track of how much data I am using thru out the month. I do not have the unlimited data plan and have gone over a few times. It's usually the last couple days of my billing cycle and I am charged $10 for an extra gig which I barely use 10% of before my usage is restarted for new billing cycle. FYI, they do not carry the remainder of the unused gig that you purchase for $10 which I disagree with. But have accepted. Lol Moving on.
I have two questions. One possibly being answered by the other. 1. Is cellular data used when I sync to iTunes on my home computer to load songs onto my iPhone from my iTunes library(songs that already exist)? 2. What causes the cellular data usage readings in iPhone settings/general/usage/cellular usage to decrease if my last reset has not changed? It is close to end of my billing cycle and I have been keeping close eye. Earlier today it read around 180mb sent/1.2gb received. Now it reads 90mb sent/980 mb recieved. My last reset date reads the same as before. I don't know if my sync and music management had anything to do with the decrease but i didn't notice the decrease until after I had connected to iTunes and loaded music. 1) No.
2) It does provide an estimated usage, but it's not accurate. For accurate determination, you should check the remaining/used MBs from the carrier (most of the carriers provide this service for free).

i inherited the website. It’s for a non-profit and is not very
sophisticated, and neither am I in webdesign. It currently has multiple
pages that are identical except for that body section, so whenever i change

I'm working a developing an OA page that will displays the contents of an Oracle table and allows the user to update records in a table as needed.
When I hit submit button to save the changes in the update page, the control goes back to main page (where all the table records are displayed). It displays the updated record with the new information.However when I hit "Go" button on the mainPG, I get the error "The search cannot be executed because the table has pending changes that would be lost. and the changes are not committed.
ANy suggestions on where I should look will be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to ask the following question: Just updated my iPhone5 to V 7.1.2 and can no longer print to my MFC 7860W from this phone. I researched this issue on this forum and found answers from last October/November..... Wary of downloading anything that was posted that long ago. Wondering if there is anyway around this issue, with more recent information? I was able to use this printer in the past by using Brother's iPrint App.

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account. I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there. On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back. Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email. The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?
