Has CS3 Dreamweaver caught a Vista bug

I switched on today and found that whenever I browse for a
file to insert a link in an existing file, Dreamweaver crashed. The
same happens when I tried to fill a dynamic list/menu from a
database file.
It applies to all sites on my system, so I cannot do much
with any of them.
http://www.adobe.com/go/kb400788
decribes this fault exactly, but states that it is a Vista issue,
and has been fixed in CS3.
Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, have they found
a work around?
Howard WAlker

No - it has not. Deleted the configuration file and
re-started the progarm and all is well. Sorry to have troubled
anyone.

  • Has CS3 stopped working on Vista?

I have CS3 Photoshop on a Windows Vista machine. Just recently, it has stopped working whenever I try to open an image. The program opens up just fine but whenever I try to do anything, an error message pops-up and Window shuts it down.

Please post in the Photoshop forum for more help on this.

  • CS3 Web Premium and Vista 64

I see on Adobe's website that CS3 Web Premium is certified
for Vista 32. Has anyone installed it on Vista 64 and if so, does
it work? After spending 3 weeks getting Studio 8 to work properly
on Vista 64 (thanks to all in the forum for your help there), I
don't want to upgrade until I know for sure its going to work.

  • CS3 Dreamweaver

    My CS3 Dreamweaver won't load. I currently have CS2 & CS3
Version installed. I have to have 2 to use and I am trying to test
    CS3, but I can't get CS3 to load dreamweaver. I'm sure it's an
issue with the two CS's on my machine, but I can't switch to three
until I test it with my system. AHhhhhh Please help.

    > I'm sure it's an issue with the two CS's on my machine
I'm equally sure it's not. The box I am currently using has
    three of them
    installed MX2004, 8, CS3) (there was no CS2).
What happens when you try to start CS3?

  • Dreamweaver 8 on vista

Recently updated to Windows Vista at work, we use have always
used studio 8 stuff and adobe
Ever since I upgraded to vista my dreamweaver 8 likes to
crash alot especially when i try opening a file and it really hates
it when i try opening a file from a mounted drive.. just closes
without saying anything... Is there anyone else who has had this
problem or know how to fix it? I have looked for 2 weeks online and
have not found anything to help..

I don't post much but I check out the forums quite a bit if I
have trouble with something. It always amazes me how a lot of
things turn into a big FUD-fest - especially involving Microsoft.
Vista is fine, there are a million apps out there... not everything
is going to work. Dreamweaver seems to use a lot of XML and such
for it's own conifguration - Vista does this now for basic
operating procedures (people will notice that Dreamweaver will
disable Vista help because it changes what program manages
text/xml. All this stuff will be worked out I am sure. BTW to fix
the Help feature search for Kristan M. Kenney + Vista Help - there
is a reg file that sets it back.
    On to the original question:
Yah, having a similiar issue. DW8 seems to lock and close
when using dialog boxes to link to a file, open a file, etc. Mine
is running in compatability mode as well, but that doesn't seem to
help. Hopefully Adobe will come out with a fix soon (yes, its
Adobe's problem, Microsoft sets a standard for the OS that
applcations use to interact - that is the baseline and software
will have to be adjusted - I really doubt everything will be
changed on the OS so one Adobe app will work).
The number of Vista users will increase in Feb drastically,
that will probably spark increased demand for this particular fix
(100 to 1 that Adobe has somehting in the can and is waiting on
    it).
Finally, to the above post: Vista is NOT Wndows ME

  • CS5 Dreamweaver on Windows Vista. Will not open at all. Please advise

CS5 Dreamweaver on Windows Vista. Will not open at all. Been fine until now. No recent updates on computer, other Creative Suite software all work fine too.
I have the Student package installation so I am unable to uninstall then re-install as one off set up. Or is it possible to get the re-installation on a student package, and if so will I have to re-install everything?
have been using Dreamweaver only two months ago and now it is will not open. I do not get anything on the screen, no egg-timer or anything. Tried to look up online to solve problem, but no joy.
    Please advise....

When DW starts acting weird, the first thing to try is Deleting Corrupted Cache in DW
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/494811
If that doesn't help, try Restore Preferences.  Note: your work space, custom settings & 3rd party extensions will be wiped out by this.  So make backups of anything you need to keep.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/restore-preferences-dreamweaver-cs4-cs5.html
If all else fails, use the CS Cleaner Tools below followed by a software re-install.

    Good luck!

  • CS3 Dreamweaver no longer works

I have installed lion (10.7) since the day it comes out, and have no problem on my MacBook Pro 17" Dual and had upgraded to 10.7.1 with no issue at all.  I just got a PowerMac 17" with i7 Quad, and when I migrate it to the new computer, everything works except CS3 Dreamweaver.  Whenever it starts end up with a empty box error.  Any idea what to do to get it back to work!  Moving to CS 5.5 is close to $1000.00.  My current budget just cannot handle it.

As I am using Lion, the installer will not work.
CS3 was an Intel app it should install.  CS2 was the last PowerPC app ( http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/faq.html#lion-os ).  And Resource cannot be found sounds more like an OS issue.  Have you tried just doing an uninstall with the Adobe Clean Tool ( http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html ) and then do a clean install of CS3 on the new machine.  Then bring over your settings manually without the Apple Assistant.  It's possible something is not being brought over properly and causing your issue.

Dreamweaver suddenly stopped connecting to website, fine one day then cannot connect the next. I can connect using CUTE FTP any suggestions what has stopped Dreamweaver from connecting?

Have you tried clearing DW's program cache yet? That's usually my first step if something "just started happening"...
    Deleting a corrupted cache file
Server updates can cause DW to need a setting change. Have you already tried toggling Use Passive FTP in your site settings yet?
Has anything changed on your local network, like an update to a firewall?
If you are connected via wireless router, a low likelihood but possible thing to test would be a wireless router problem. Try connecting the computer directly to your modem, bypassing the wireless router (if you aren't using an all in one modem/router setup) to see if that makes any difference.

  • I have CC Indesign CS6, but client has CS3 and wants CS3 files.

I have CC Indesign CS6, but client has CS3 and wants CS3 files. Can I access earlier versions through CC to do the 'downsave' thing? Any workarounds?

    You're a bit of a bind.
To save backwards you need to File>Export and choose IDML
But you will need to find someone with InDesign CS4 or CS5 as that is the versions that will allow to File>Export and choose INX.
INX is the only version that can be opened in CS3.
To be clear - the client should really update to the same version as you - as with each version the text engines are different, so there will be different line endings and perhaps even overset text depending on the layouts etc.
Plus any new feature in CS6 that was not in Cs5.5 or earlier versions will be stripped out - and going back to CS3 there are a few things which could alter the layout significantly.
I suggest the client upgrade to the latest version. Or if you can find a CS3 version online to purchase for yourself - either way - you should both work on the same version of the software.

  • Trying to send file to someone who has cs3 but error occurs

Hi I have illustrator cs5 and I am trying to send a file to someone who has cs3, I saved it in a cs3 format but when they try to open it an error occurs saying, "could not find The linked file, choose repair to locate the missing file, replace to open another file, or ignore to leave file unchanged". Please help thank you.

This  means that Illustrator cannot find the related files (external resources that you have used for the project, like photos etc...), because the path is changed.
Do you have to pass to your customers not only the illustrator file but also all the files used in that project. Then they have to choose the "repair" option and relink all the missed resources ( simply they have to go to the folders on their hard drive where these files are located and then relink them).
    I hope this help

  • CS3 Dreamweaver is asking me to register

I just bought creative cloud and when I open my CS3 dreamweaver it is asking me to register it. I clicked "register later."  Is this going to keep happening? Do i really have to re-register it? Will it stop working when i start using the dreamweaver that I download from the cloud?

    Hi Mike,
Registation isn't required to use the software like activation. Registration just confirms and records your ownership of a product in our system. If you own the copy of Dreamweaver CS3 you can still use it. The registration prompt shouldn't be related to you joining Creative Cloud. You can have both Dreamweaver CS3 and CS6 installed and usable on the same computer.

  • CS3 Dreamweaver FTP errors

    connection: CS3 Dreamweaver>MacPro(10.4.10)>Airport
    Extreme>SBCmodem>Yahoo Web hosting
Since upgrading to intel mac w/ CS3, I am constantly getting
FTP errors. All client accounts are set to passive. Usually it
takes 2 or 3 attempts to connect to server. On one client account
that is set up for Contribute, I get error messages at the end of
an 11.9MB podcast upload saying the file was skipped–so I end
up using fetch to upload the file.
Most of the accounts are legacy and never had a problem
    ftp'ing to server w/ G4 rig.

Here is the message I get when my upload completes. The
status bar goes to 100% so it appears that the upload is complete,
    but not to be.
    Started: 11/5/07 8:22 AM
    Operation timed out. Cancelling...
    podcasts:broadcast162.mp3 - error occurred
    Connected to ...
    podcasts:broadcast162.mp3 - skipped
File activity incomplete. 1 file(s) or folder(s) were not
    completed.
    Files skipped: 1
    Files with errors: 1
    podcasts:broadcast162.mp3
    Finished: 11/5/07 8:30 AM
If I then look at the remote directory, I see the following
file: "broadcast162.mp3.new" and the file size is correct, 11.9MB.
So then I resort to using Fetch to upload. Adobe, please fix
    Dreamweaver FTP!

  • Dreamweaver CS3 vs. Windows Vista

SO! I am almost thoroughly disgusted with this program. I am
in an online based web design class for college and now that we are
within the last few weeks of class they teacher has asked us to
install a free 30-day trial of Dreamweaver CS3 for out final
project. I downloaded it the first time with no problems, ran the
installation process, then when I went to open the program itself
    it gave me this:
"You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair
the problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or
contacting your IT administrator or Adobe customer support for
    help."
After you click "ok" on the prompt, Dreamweaver still makes
an attempt to open itself, but once it goes to a blank workspace,
    it shuts itself down completely!
So I did what it asked, and ran into the same problem again.
I have already done the command prompt and run as
administrator with the code that I found on the adobe
    troubleshooting website.
It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could let me know
    what is going on here.

So, have you contacted Adobe Customer support? You realise
    these forums are
user to user, and Adobe employees only drop in now and then.
That said, there are many people who have your setup running
    smoothly, so
don't be too disheartened - someone will have a suggestion or
    two which may
    help shortly.
