Has gaming lost its magic
Am i the only one that thinks it has. I used to love nothing more than dropping myself into fantastical (is this a word?) worlds that were filled with colorful over the top characters and crazy stories that were suited to young and old alike but games like this seem to have vanished over the years. i know we are getting this but that's just two games in how long , everything these days just seems to be blood guts and realism ( and dull color pallets) can we not go back to having a nice mix of games where there is something for everyone. i know much of this comes down to the demise of the platformer (why did we stop getting platformers btw?) i love horror movies but i also love pixar cartoons, the movie industry has me sorted so i have to wonder why the main stream gaming industry (which is arguably larger than the movies) can't cater to customers in the same way. people may reply saying games are for adults now to them i say not every adult has a stick up their butt and can also have fun with games that have a more mass market appeal.

Magic Selection Brush has lost its magic
i've researched the the forum and looked at the problems, but the Magic Healing brush is definitely not as marketed, I even took a pretty easy picture, dark picture with light foreground, and still the selection that adobe comes up with is lines all over and full of holes. I tried "squiggly" selection (like the pagoda example in Adobe videos) and no luck. I tried a single line, no luck. I tried Magic Extractor to include and exclude and no luck. I really would like to know how the marketers got the clip of the temple and the dog to work so flawlessly. I have tried 20+ times with not even coming close. Any thoughts?

It has been so frustrating to talk to a Verizon customer service rep...they don't seem to be knowledgeable. Providing incorrect information, making changes to plans you didn't ask for...Getting to a point where the network doesn't matter if you have to spend so much time going thru this mess

my iphone has been lost in my house and i need to find a way to track it and its offline. it wont connect to the internet so there isnt a way to use find my iphone. i just want to play a sound on it. is there any way i can get a app that connects my ipod from a laptop or a different way to find it.
If your phone is offline, the ONLY way to find it is to look for it the old fashioned way. Your phone CANNOT be located electronically if it's offline.

I`m `propping` up this thread to to the top of the forums again as it`s been three months and not a single community member or Apple support personnel have replied, which I find discouraging.
I`ve tried everything - both the iOS device(s) and Apple TV have been upgraded (albeit reluctantly) to the latest versions, since iOS 7 looks like crap compared to iOS 6. Both use the same WiFi network. Bluetooth is set to `off`, as per the online tutorials on the Apple Support page.
I also tried shutting all of them down, including the router, waiting 30 seconds and turning the router, then the Apple TV then the iOS device on sequentially with 30 seconds in between each, again as per this discussion forum, and still nothing.
Why can Apple not make a technology, such as AirPlay, work with greater than 10%?
Any other ideas?

Hi. Trying to connect iomega ext. HD. i have to reformat for Mac. When i plug in & go to Disk Utility,the external shows up and i'm supposed to click "partition". When i do, a box comes up saying ""Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility." I quit and relaunched, same results. After googling my question, i came up with this:
"Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility."
(Quitting and reopening Disk Utility does not help.)
The following also appears in Console log:

Workaround
Quit Disk Utility.
From the Finder's Go menu, choose Go to Folder....
Type the following, then click OK: /Library/Receipts
Temporarily remove these iTunes receipts from /Library/Receipts (sort the folder alphabetically as a list):
iTunes.pkg
iTunes4.pkg
You can put them on the desktop, for example. Do not remove iTunesX.pkg or iTunes Phone Driver.pkg.
Open Disk Utility and repair disk permissions again.
Quit Disk Utility.
Put the removed iTunes receipts back in /Library/Receipts.
Note: This issue does not affect Disk Utility's verify or repair disk features.
All seemed good, for a moment, until, upon going back to Disk Utility after removing itunes4.pkg and putting on desktop (i did not have itunes.pkg to remove) the same thing was happening. When i highlite my iomega ext. on left of page, disk perrmissions is grayed and does not allow me to click on it. Same problem from the start. Can somebody please help me out here? You shouldn't be scared of that, because you should already have backups. If you don't have backups, then backing up is the first priority.
Insert the Snow Leopard DVD and restart. When you hear the chime, hold down the C key and keep holding it until the Apple logo appears on the display. You should now see the language selection screen. Select your language, then choose Utilities > Disk Utility from the menu bar. In the Disk Utility window, select the external drive (not the internal). The drive may already have a data partition, in which case there will be another icon below the drive icon. Choose the drive icon, then select the Partition tab. Create a single partition with the default options (GUID partition table, Mac OS X Extended Journaled).
When the partitioning is done, select the startup volume on your internal drive in the DU window. Select the Restore tab. Drag the icon of the startup volume to the "Source" field. Then drag the icon of the newly-created volume on the external drive to the "Destination" field. Make sure you have this right. Then click the Restore button, and the data on your startup volume will be copied to the external drive. -

MacBook Airport card has lost its IP address and won't connect to my network
The Airport card on my MacBook has lost its IP address and will not connect to my network. It worked fine until about two or three days ago. Network Diagnostics says that the Airport now has a self-assigned IP number and will not connect to the Internet. I can't find any info anywhere that tells me how to restore the IP number, and I don't get how it can have a self-assigned number and not connect. I have AT&T U-Verse, and my iMac desktop and two iPhone 4s connect with little difficulty. The MacBook is three years old, and AppleCare just expired two months ago. I'm still running 10.6.8 on both machines. I found an article saying that sometimes DHCP leases expire, but my desktop still works ifne, and I've had both connected to the same network since the same time. The artcicle said that more than one machine can share an IP address, so I wanted to try to enter the desktop IP address into the laptop, but I can't find a way to do so, either. Any thoughts?
Have you tried making a New Location for each yet? The Automatic one get confused easily.
Some "nix" to try when it happens also...

first generation apple tv has lost its main menu bar on top of screen. Also I am currently in language choice and my remote seems to be locked, is that possible and if so how do you unlock it?
You would need to go to an Apple Store (make an appointment) and take the phone, her father's original invoice when the phone was purchased, and a copy of his death certificate. Only with these will Apple unlock it. If you can't get these, the phone is permanently unusable.

My Photosmart wireless B110 printer has lost its connection with my desktop PC. I can still print from my laptop so I know the printer is working fine.
When I check ink levels through 'Printer Proerties' the message I get is 'The computer is unable to establish two-way communication with the device', so I guess this is a clue. I would appreciate any help you can give.
THank you.Just as a preliminary step, we're going to go through a complete and clean uninstallation and reinstallation. First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it. Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.
Then follow this link to download the full feature software and drivers for the printer (be sure to select your correct OS):
