Has Google Streetview been blocked by apple in the IOS 6 update?

Since updating to IOS6 I, along with tens of thousands of others no doubt, have discovered that I cannot access Google maps.
While I understand that Apple have replaced Google maps with their own version and that although at present this is a pale imitation of google's offering which will, I am sure, be improved upon over time, can anyone explain why I am am unable to access Google Streetview, even when using an alternative browser such as Google Chrome?
I have seen, elsewhere on the web, people commenting that one can use the 3-D map view all the flyover to the same effect. This is simply not true. The 3-D mapping does not give enough detail to be useful and the flyover, although very impressive, is a gimmick and completely useless as an aid to navigation unless, of course, one is travelling in a major city and to one's destination by helicopter.
I have managed to find an app for my iPad at: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ifindview-connect-to-facebook/id480510706?mt=8 which does give me access to Streetview, albeit in a limited form but I would dearly love to have access once again to Streetview which was to me an extremely useful tool.

Plug it into iTunes and hold the power and home buttons down for about 10 seconds, then release the power button but continue to hold the home button. That should put it in DFU mode. iTunes should recognize that and ask if you want to restore.

ITunes has a problem finding my iPhone on wifi after iOS 6 update

Since updating to iOS 6 on Thursday, I've been having problems with iTunes not finding my iPhone on wifi. I'm not having this problem with my iPad, which is first gen so no iOS update. Sometimes the phone will show up on the list when I start iTunes, most of the time it won't. I am also getting repeated pop-ups from Windows telling me that "ATH.exe has stopped working". The pop up shows up even after I click the button for "Close Program". I've tried stopping and starting the Apple Mobile Device Service. This led to the phone showing up on the list but the pop up frequency has actually now increased (not that that's necessarily related).
I do not have problems with the phone showing up in the list or syncing the phone when it's physically connected - it works exactly the way it's supposed to if it's plugged in. And I can deal with having to plug it in to sync if I have to but these constant popups are starting to drive me batty and I don't want to have to deal with them until the new iTunes comes out next month (assuming the new version will fix whatever the problem is anyway).
I am running Windows Vista 32-bit, iTunes 10.7.0.21, iPhone 3GS.

I've got the 4S and I see you have the 3GS; this isn't a device issue evidently since your post is the first that I see is NOT a newer device. I'm in total agreement on your post as well - there is absolutely no rhyme nor reason for all this and the pop-up is to the point of syncing via the cable is worth NOT having this "ATH.exe" error.
Further I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything, as per all the support forums, yet to sync via WiFi, I have to stop and start the Apple Device Service countless times. As I stated earlier, by the time I start/restart the services, it's just easier to throw it on the cable and call it a day....
One would think, by now, that Apple would be on this however I hve yet to see an Apple post as to a resolution. I suppose we will just go batty together!!! If I hear or find anything, I'll hunt down this post and post the info I've found. Thank you for reporting this so Apple realizes we're not losing our minds nor is it a Vista/Windows issue. iTunes10.7.0.21 is being used & this only started after the iOS 6 update... GRRR!!!!

I just now spoke with Apple support as I had a similar issue, where the volume on some apps and games did not work, and what I was told helped me out greatly.
what I was told to do is hold down the power and the home screen button at the same time for about three or four seconds until the device shuts down and you should see it restarting. If the device does not restart on its own hit the power button and it should restart and then you should have no problem at all everything should be as it should be.

Sorry but Apple doesn't support downgrading.
There are a few things you can do to help change the appearance. You can go to settings, general, accessibility and adjust the contrast, text size, bold the text. You can also adjust the brightness in the control panel. Maybe this will make it a little better looking for you.

The IOS 8 update on my Ipad has repeatedly frozen my iPad and caused me endless loss of work and grief.

Should I just finally throw in the towel and stop spending more money on Apple Products for defectiveness? I have had to replace iPods because Apple wants to charge me the same price for a replacement battery as the price of the ipod, the battery only lasts one year. Yet, I have bought hundreds of itune songs. They don't care, they want to charge me for outrageous battery replacement prices. The adapter cords start wearing out on my iPad within weeks of useage, thus requiring me to buy more replacements for them. Now, the IOS 8 update has caused my Ipad 2 to freeze over and over, causing me to lose stuff I was working on. Why are Apple products so bad when it comes to quality and they treat us like open wallets when it comes to the way they treat us when it is the company's fault. Microsoft has never treated me like this when it comes to their product defects and replacements.

It is highly, highly unlikely that I will ever buy another expensibe Apple product and their refusal to fix the mess they have caused me borders on violations of Fair Trade Laws. What a shame Apple has done this to me and other long term Apple customers. A real shame! I am warning every friend I can not to buy any new Apple products. If You are trying to watch content when you are downloading, it let it download then watch it this works for me as i had the same problem.

You can't the old built-in app back, it's been removed from iOS 6. You can either try one of the YouTube apps from the app store or try accessing it via Safari (you can create a homescreen shortcut for the site)
