I just got out of bed and turned on my iMac G5 with built in iSight and it's making this horrible noise like a sharp pitched "click" "click" "click" then it whirs a bit and does it again and then over and over for a while before a white screen comes up with a little folder in the middle with the finder face on it that flashes to a question mark - I can tell this isn't going to be good news..........

If you take it in, see if they can try to put it in an enclosure and perhaps get it to work that way, or at least, have them try to pull your data off it. Its a really long shot, but who knows...
Since you have another computer, please make the time to get an external drive and make frequent backups/clones of your system. I use SuperDuper!, which allows you to schedule incremental backups automatically.

I believe your only option will be to get Apple to replace the screen for you, which won't be cheap. If the machine is still covered under warranty, you could try to push the case that the screen must be defective for a bug to get in there. Apple has been known to do free out-of-warranty service in some pretty unbelievable circumstances, that that is at their discretion, so be very pleasant and polite so they'll like you and want to help you out. But be prepared to have to pay for the repair.

I have ordered a 800 firewire to 800 firewire cable and am hoping to use the target mode option to copy files from the MBP.
Is this possible?

If you're accustomed to working with MS Office, you can purchase Office for Mac 2011 and your documents will open fine - albeit if different fonts were used there may be some reflow problems.
Before buying Office for Mac, you may want to try out two free alternatives - LibreOffice or OpenOffice. I don't use them as I use Office for Mac but either should be able to open your Word documents.

I suggest contacting apple support...I know in Australia it's 1300 321 456...Not sure what it is for where you are, try this website http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57. Alternatively, if you haven't already, sync it with iTunes. If the iPhone's not been synced before, try holding the power and home buttons down at once. That should reboot the phone. Might sound stupid, but make sure it's fully charged first.

Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time. It will recognize the iTunes library on the PC as a new library. If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library. So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.

Timemachine doesn't show external drive (that has now died)

Hi, I've had timemachine backing up my HD and two external firewire drives (one with my 11gb iphoto library on it).
If I open the timemachine generated Backups.backupdb folder in the finder, the contents of the 3 drives are all there in separate folders. Fine.
One of the external drives has just died, so I want to restore my iphoto library (i.e. move it from timemachine to the other external drive).
But when I enter timemachine, the dead drive doesn't show up.
If I try to copy the file I want to restore via the finder, it says it will take 450 hours!
What can I do?

My iPod 1g has been dying quickly after 1st sync with iTunes

After my first sync with iTunes my 1st Generation iPod has been dying very quickly. And I charge it all night, but when I turn it on it says that I only have 20% battery then maybe 5-10 minutes later it says I have a full battery. What is going on? I bought this iPod used with no mannual. The whole 20% battery issue happened right from the point I got it.

Let the battery fully drain. After charging for an hour try a reset (both buttons) and connect to computer and try to restore. If screen is still white you very likely have a hardware problems.

- Next try letting the battery fully drain. After charging for a least an hour try again
