Has Lr 5 fixed the Export memory leak?

Has anyone confirmed that the memory leak in Lr 5 Beta when exporting images has been fixed in the Lr 5 release? In the Beta all 16Gb of my machine's RAM could be quickly consumed if I exported a large number of images. I could release the memory by simply clicking an image in Grid view but it would be nice to have the export behave properly.

No, still nothing. This is about halway in, and for good measure I threw in a second export on top.
You can see the CPU getting a lot busier (confirming that breaking an export into two speeds it up) - but memory usage is still rock solid. Incidentally, this last one is exporting to TIFF, which seems to use a little less memory than exporting to PSD. No idea why that should be.
Do you have any plugins that could cause leaks?
Edit: OK, so that's cleared up then. I never tried the beta.

Has Apple ever fixed the fan issue that results from upgrading the hard drives on 2009-2010 iMacs?
My CPU fan defaults to 3000RPM.  I can rev the fan higher with 3rd party Fan controllers, but no lower than 3K.

OR you can short out the original temp sensor, to make the fans rev at quieter speeds.
You can also install an optical temp sensor in place of the old one, it will still read temps and adjust the fans accordingly, just not as good as an internal sensor.
    Use something like this:http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-922-9229-Cable-Temp-Sensor-Optical-iMac-27-inch-Late -2009-2010-/111106349896

  • How to fix huge iTunes memory leak in 64-bit Windows 7?

iTunes likes to allocate as much as 1.6GB of memory on my dual-quad XEON 8GB 64-Bit Windows computer and then becomes unresponsive.
This can happen several times a day and has been going on for as long as I can remember.  No other software that I use does this - only Apple's iTunes.  Each version I have installed of iTunes appears to have this same memory leak.  Currently I am running version 10.7.0.21.
I love iTunes when it works.  But having to constantly kill and relaunch the app throughout the day is bringing me down.
Searching for a fix for this on the internet just surfaces more and more complaints about this problem - but without a solution.
Having written shrinkwrapped software for end users as well as for large corporations and governments for more than 25 years I know a thing or two about software.  A leak like this should take no more than a day or two to locate using modern software tools and double that to fix it.  So why with each new version of iTunes does this problem persist?  iTunes for Windows is the flagship software product Apple makes for non-Mac users - yet they continue to pass up each opportunity they have had over the years with each new release to fix this issue.  Why is this?
Either the software engineers are not that good or they have been told NOT to spend time on this issue.  I personally believe that the engineers at Apple are very good, and therefore am left thinking that the latter is more likely the case.  Maybe this is to coax people to purchase a Mac so that they can finally run iTunes without these egregious memory leaks.  I would like to offer another issue to consider.
Just as Amazon sold Kindles and Google sold Nexus tablets at low cost - not counting on margin for profit - but instead they wanted to saturate the marketplace with tools for making future purchases of content almost trivial to do with their devices.  Apple also counts on this model with their pricer hardware - but they also have iTunes.  Instead of trying to get people to switch to a MAC by continuing to avoid fixing this glaring issue in iTunes for Windows I would like to suggest that by allowing their engineers to address this issue that Apple will help keep Windows users from jumping ship to another music app.  The profit to be made by keeping those Windows users happy and wedded to the iTunes store is obvious.
By continuing to keep this leak in iTunes for Windows all it does is lower my esteem for the company and start to make me wonder if the software is just as buggy on Macs.

I have same issue. Ongoing for more than 1 year and currently running iTunes 11.3.
My PC is Dell OptiPlex 990 I7 processor, 8GB ram, W7 64 [always keep things patched up to latest OS updates etc]
I use this iTunes install to stream music videos etc to multiple appleTVs, ipads, iphones etc .. via Home Sharing
Store all my media including music, videos and apps on separate NAS  .. so the iTunes running on PC is only doing the traffic cop role and streaming / using files stored on NAS .. creates lots of IO across my network
Previous troubleshooting suggest possible contributing causes include
    a) podcast updates  .. until recently I had this auto updates on multiple podcast subscriptions, presumably the iTunes would flow this from the PC to save on the NAS across the network .. if the memory leak is in the iTunes network communication layer (?bonjour?)  this may be sensitive to IO that would not normally occur if the iTunes file saving was local on the same PC
    b) app updates .. have 200+ apps in my library and there is always a batch of updates .. some updates 100s of MB is size .. routinely see 500MB to 1GB of updates in single update run .. all my apps are
    c) streaming music / movies .. seems when we ramp up streamlining of music or movies . memory leak grows faster .. ie within hours of clean start
    c) large syncs of music or videos to ipads or iphones .. noticed that get big problems when I rebuild an ipad .. I typically have 60+ GB of data in terms of apps /  music / videos to load .. have to do rebuild in phases due to periodic lockups

  • Verizon ellipsys update did not fix the app memory problem!

The Verizon update for the ellipsys did not fix the original issue with the storage of apps on the device. The update gave you the capability to move apps to your tablet space; but, the device's pre installed apps cannot be moved. Those apps take up roughly 500mb of the allotted 1gb of space.
This tablet was meant for my parents to use and they can't be sitting here umistalling and disabling preinstalled apps just to use there tablet.
Please include in the next update a reallocation of memory for more app storage space. I have already moved all available apps over to the tablet space: I have 4 gigs open on their tablet and only 200mb for apps? Crazy sauce...

I called Verizon 2nd level tech support and they assured me there is NO ED06 update's said they haven't even finished rolling out ED05 yet. I think they just told you that to get you off the phone. I also have a Fascinate and have had problems and can't get them to replace my phone with a different device. I want the Droid Charge since it is the only other one that has the AMOLED screen that I originally chose the Fascinate for . They had a program that ended on July 28th the day that ED05 rolled out. They offered the Droidx, the Incredible 2, and the Droid Charge to replace the Fascinates that were having trouble. I had called to report my issues during this replacement program but was not told that it was going on and now they won't give me the Droid Charge because it has expired. I think since there are STILL issues-they need to bring this program back and allow us to get a different phone. I have been a customer of Verizon for 10 years and have 7 lines so I am REALLY disappointed that they can't work with me (or other customers ) especially since it is not something we did to the phone. It is a problem with either Verizon or Samsung. I don't know where to go from here but maybe if they hear enough from others that didn't have any success with ED05 they will start to replace them. I will probably go to a higher level to voice my concern. Let me know if anyone has any success getting a new device especially the Droid Charge.

  • Has latest update fixed the "blue rectangle" issue?

If today's update did not fix it, is there any news as to when this bug will be fixed?  I'd really like to be able to turn the GPU back on.
Also--separate subject--the new version seems to have some catalog issues.  It didn't update the latest LR 5.7 catalog but some slightly older one.  All sorts of minor issues result.  Don't know if anyone else has had this kind of problem.
    Gail

Ive had Samsung galaxy s2 and i miss it. Unfortunately ive sold it for an iphone 4s and id say im not so satisfied. Even though IOS is somewhat better than android, android team can really fix the issues pretty fast and clearly with an expected result, unlike apple.
As for the battery. Battery on MY iphone 4s *****, its still same ****** 5.01 had, and its draining in 6 hours of normal usage. Couple phone calls, text messages, surfing in internet and boom, its depleted. Usually i have to charge my phone once a day, but sometimes even twice. As for SGS2, i even could go 3 days without a single charge, however im not sure anymore with ICS firmware.
Im selling off my iphone 4s and excited about HTC One X, i have a strong feeling about that phone.

  • Has AE CS5 fixed the clone tool??

Anyone know if they have fixed the caching problem that bogged AE down when cloning the same point using previous frames with the clone tool? This has been a issue since they added the clone tool and makes painting objects out almost impossible!
Sitting here writing this while AE CS 4 draws 1 frame!! So lame! Combustion could de better on an old g4!
    Thanks Mark

Just confirming AE CS5 still bogs down when cloning from previous frame when painting in the same spot for more than 5 frames!
What crap!! Wasting my time pre-rending every 10 min!
Am I the only one who sees that AE has been going down hill since version 6.5??
Its like they got lazy, just started licensing technology and the basic coding has gotten worse! Wish there was an alternative.
This is what happens when management calls the shots, making decisions for monetary gain rather than doing what is right! Evil bastards!

  • Releasing transport request has an error during the 'export' step.

    Hello Everyone,
My environment is ERP 6.0 EHP6, AIX 6.3, Oracle 11g.
We have a transport request that was created in our development system by deleting some obsolete roles. When we try to release the transport request to our q/a system it terminates with errors in the export step.
    The errors are.
       End of export R3TRTABUUSR10
no E071K or E071K_STR entries found for R3TRTABUUSR11
       Start export R3TRTABUUSR12 ...
no E071K or E071K_STR entries found for R3TRTABUUSR13
Of course we cannot create a new transport request because the roles were deleted.
Can someone please explain to me what could have cause this type of error and possibly how to resolve it?
    Regards,
    Ron

    Hi Ron,
As per your log, no E071K or E071K_STR entries found forR3TRTABUUSR11
no E071K or E071K_STR entries found for R3TRTABUUSR1
Looks like there is no entry found for E071K or E071K_STR in table USR11 and USR13.
Please check those table and make sure the above entries are there, if not that could be the issues.
Also, please check if these tables (USR10, USR11, USR12 USR13)  are active in SE14.
    Thanks

  • Has AE CS6 fixed the memory handling problems on Mac?

I'm disgusted with the poor performance of AE CS5.5 on Mac. The memory handing is primitive. Cinema4D is smooth, and just works. In AE CS5.5, I render at 50% and quarter resolution and I still can't get 30 fps. I have a Mac Pro with 32 GB RAM (yes, 32 GB RAM) and AE still stutters and crawls. Why should I dick around with memory allocations? I've tried all combinations of multiple frame renders and not. C4D just works with no dicking around with preferences (you know, unlike MS DOS...), so competent memory processing is possible on the Mac platoform.
Anyone see any improvement with CS6 on Mac?
    Any info gratefully received.

Chaning screen resolutions is not necessary once I set up a workstation. You are stretching the concept of "configuring". The configuring you mentioned earlier is doing something like grekking your /unix/-r--f-s-t\\wini.ininini.config.sys files. Such is not required on a Mac. That's the actual point of a Mac. It's the same reason that I need not know how to rewire the phone closet jumpers in order to make a long-distance phone call: it's not my job. It's the job of OS and program makers to hide such behind-the-scenes fiddling.
The rest of your remarks amount to "dismantle your advanced workstation so it dumbs down enough so that AE works." Suggesting I use only one screen so AE works is absolute nonsense. I need 3 screens for my current project (cutting and pasting between 4 spreadsheet files). Further, every other non-Adobe program works with no problems on my current configuration: C4d, RealFlow, Vue xStream, Parallels, Dictate, and even MS Excel.  Ergo, its AE that's the problem, not my "configuration". Nor is it Quicktime components that's the problem. Nothing esle has a problem with QT. Once upon a time AE worked flawlessly on my Mac. In recent years, it has become problematic. When Adobe added Almighty Flash capabilities to AE (and who in their right mind uses Flash as a source file format?), QT and AIFF stopped working in the timeline. Huh? AIFF which pre-dates AE? QT which works on everything else? Look, Ma, no QA or beta testing.
I am looking for rational suggestions as to why AE doesn't work on my Mac. A third-party clipboard utility, perhaps? Reasonable. Multiple screens? Not reasonable.
Can anyone esle shed light on poor Adobe programming?
PS: Mylenium, if you don't use a Mac, why do you leap to AE's defence and offer advice on how to trouble-shoot Macs?

  • How can I disable the notification centre? How can I fix the low memory of my iPod?

Does somebody know how to disable the notification centre?
    It is annoying!
If I want to play Fruit Ninja it always opens und if I want to scroll on youtube too.
    Could somebody help me?
Since iOS 5.0.1 my iPod has very low memory.
More than the half of them are running not or only bad.
Before iOs 5.0.1 I could use all Apps normaly.

    - From the users guide:
Turn notifications on or off:  Go to Settings > Notifications. Tap an item in the list, then turn
notifications on or off for that item.
    - Closing unused app via the task bar and periodically powering off and back on helps.

  • Why has Apple NOT fixed the bug on iphone 4s on Meteor?

My phone has never worked since i bought it.. It is not fit for purpose. it constantly keeps searching for network..  both my Texts and Calls fail on almost every attempt.  ive been bounced from Apple to Meteor, back to Apple and still i have a dud phone!!! I have restored it 4 times. sent it bake to meteor, changed sims and still it does not work.
this issue is know to both Apple and Meteor, yet both companies seem happy to allow customers to have this outrageous experience.
Apple what are you doing to fix this?

Your not speaking to Apple here just user to user like you and I.
have you tried resetting your network in settings.
Apple doesn't control networks, that would be your carrier they activate your service, so your anger you be towards meteor not apple.

  • Has anyone really fixed the windows to ipod comunication problem?

I have tried all of the suggestions I see here and now I sit here in front of a 300.00 dollar calender. I tried the 5 R,s, none worked. I tried uninstalling and re installing and still nothing. I havent tried downloading any more Apple or Mac software because I dont trust it now. Is there some whre I havent looked yet, please help I.m losing interest in the big ipod phenomenon.

Unfortunately, there is no one ‘Silver Bullet’ answer for this issue. Many things can contribute to the problem. Here are various ‘generic’ solutions that you can try in an effort to correct your problem. One should work. These are listed in simplest to more involved order (usually).
First, make sure that the iPod is fully charged.
Try Resetting Your iPod while it's connected to the computer.
Hold down the Menu and Select buttons until you see the Apple logo (or Menu & Play/Pause in older models).
This will often get it recognized. It may take several attempts.
Try closing and re-starting iTunes. There have been cases where iTunes refuses to see an iPod, but after re-starting, it works again.
Also try re-booting the entire computer. Especially if the PC has been operating for a long time &/or many programs have been opened and closed, repeatedly.
Other USB connected peripherals may be the cause as well. Try removing all connected USB items and attaching the iPod. If you have a USB keyboard, it may be worth a try using the adapter to convert it to non-USB. If the iPod connects, continue plugging things back in until you have the problem return. You may have then isolated the issue. Sometimes it could be a printer, camera, Flash Card reader, or other attached device causing a conflict.
If your iPod shows up in Explorer under 'my computer' try changing the drive letter:
    -- Click on Start=>Control Panel=>Admin Tools=>Computer Management=>Disk Management
-- Right-Click on the iPod and select “change drive letter”
-- Choose something further along in the alphabet that is unused (Usually, “M”, “N”, “O” or something similar)
    -- Safely eject the iPod
    -- Reboot the PC
If that doesn't work, Put Your iPod into Disk Mode then plug it in and you should be able to Restore the iPod
Your PC may have difficulty with the USB2 protocol and the iPod. See this Article for a possible solution: iPod not Recognized Correctly
Also try these hints (and the other suggestions above) from any other USB port you may have on the PC. Sometimes switching USB ports can make all the difference.
    Also See:
Your Windows PC doesn't recognize iPod
iPod does not appear in iTunes or on the desktop
iPod appears in Windows Explorer but does not appear in iTunes“Strange iPod Behavior within Windows”
If you are getting a ‘Missing Drivers’ message, try this:
    1. Go to http://www.driverguide.com and register (free)
    2. Download ‘usbstor.sys’ & ‘usbstor.inf’ to your PC and place them in your i386 Folder
    3. Update both drivers by selecting the two files you just downloaded
    4. Reboot computer
    5. Open iTunes and then connect you iPod
If all the above fails, you may have a Virus, Malware or SpyWare problem.
If you do find that your Device Manager is blank, you should probably check up on this issue first: No Items Appear in the Device Manager List When You Open It
There have been some successes using the information in this post below. WARNING: I have absolutely no clue to what this download file does, and introducing it into your PC environment is risky. Some Forum posters have experienced less than benign results. Read the thread through and see the tips below. The above tool looks like it removes (or it's supposed to remove) Apropos adware. Apropos is a known cause of this problem: iPod not recognized and Windows Device Manager is empty
... but other adware using the ContextPlus engine has also been known to cause similar effects.

We have three iP4s in our family and none are experiencing the Prox issue, but for those that do it is extremely frustrating. Proximity sensor system seems to fail and activate the keyboard at odd times allowing your face/ear to randomly press 'buttons' resulting in all sorts of weird behavior.
Got it. Mine is fine so I guess I should be grateful. Apart from the signal issues my phone works perfectly. I hope this update doesn't screw my phone up.

  • Are you guys going to fix the memory leak in version 6

Hi I was wondering if you guys were going to fix the huge memory leak in Firefox 6. As of now I use windows Vista 32bit Ultimate and Firefox is using 164MB of memory to view www.google.com. I'm sorta confused also on how SLOW the browser is. I never seen F.F act this way since F.F 6. I'm hoping that this will be resolved in version 7 cuz this is not cool so slow in all.

On the "flip-side", I had the smoothest and quickest iTunes upgrade/install ever.  This was on my Windows 7 Professional, 64bit system.
That you performed an assumedly 'clean' reinstall of your OS, is not a good sign.  Obviously, iTunes doesn't like something within your system.
Here are the next steps that I would take if in your position:
    -  Are you absolutely positive that you have the 64bit version of iTunes?
    -  Re-download a new copy of the 64bit version of iTunes 10.5
    -  Try downloading iTunes from one of the 'mirror sites' - FileHippo is good
    -  Call your PC's manufacturer and see if they are aware of any conflicts with your specific machine's build with respect to iTunes
    -  Temporarily use another PC (if available) to get your iPhones up and running
    Best of Luck

  • Memory leak with FP closed

Well this is an odd one I must say.
I have an application where I would like the front panel to disappear
at the user's discretion so it's not in the way while it's processing
information in the background.  To process the information I have
a custom DLL and to check the progress of the custom DLL, I have a
routine that I can call that will return the status.  So the
information processor is called and it just runs in the background, and
then the status routine is called in a parallel loop until the status
routine determines that the processing is finished.  When the
status routine says it's done, the parallel loop exits and another
routine sets a flag for the processor to exit (so everything quits).
In order to make the DLL calls work right as far as execution
sequencing, they are called as re-entrant.  I stumbled across that
orginally because it was locking things up when I was trying to call
    them in parallel.
I have no memory leaks in the external DLL calls and this is verifiable
by running the processing routine indefinitely while checking the
status indefinitely.  The problem is when I open a VI reference to
the main VI then make it's front panel not visible.  At that
point, memory usage starts increasing by 400k/sec (which is larger than
the entire DLL).  It will eventually just crash the system.
If I set the front panel to be closed on a timer (for several seconds
say), the memory usage will increase for that amount of time and then
stop once the FP is opened again.
I know this is really difficult without having some code to look at but
it would be really hard for me to dumb down the code to get the problem
in a simple set of VI's to look at.  I'm wondering however if the
reentrant DLL calls are having some weird interaction with windows
since I'm guessing at a lower level, the application's window handle is
invalidated when the front panel is closed.  I'm wondering if the
reentrant DLL status call is having new memory allocated for it every
time it is called in the status loop.  I just can't figure out how
that has anything to do with the front panel being closed though.
Any suggestions on things to try or look at?

Well after tweaking around, running the DLL calls in the UI thread
instead of as re-entrant fixes the massive memory leak.  I can't
think of a good reason why that isn't a bug, but whatever.
Perhaps it's not crashing the program now when running in the UI Thread
since each DLL call is actually in it's own re-entrant VI
    wrapper.  Hmmm...

  • Memory leaks continuing in Safari and Web Kit

Will Apple ever fix the Safari memory leak?
As many of you know lots of reports over the years of Safari & Webkit having problems with memory leaks, and haven't seen a fix to it yet. This is a very important factor for usability of Safari.
A memory leak is when, after a period of time, your browser, which is the online field that's designed to function like a page and is used to access web pages and surf the World Wide Web, consumes more and more of your computer's memory until it reaches a point where it literally becomes impossible to use your computer. It's like your computer's stuck in cyber mud. You have to close any open software program or restart the entire computer.
Safari starts about 426.9 MB of real memory and 412.6 MB of virtual memormy and can go up to 1Gb of memory.
Has anyone come up with a fix to this problem ? If anyone has a workaround for this, please share it.
Meanwhile, Apple really should eliminate this problem once and for all.
FYI, I'm using Safari version 5.0.3 and the latest WebKit r72487 which was built on 21 November 2010.

My experience is that the same thing happens with Firefox and Chrome. The only difference with Chrome is that since the tabs are separate threads, they consume memory separately. The nice thing about that is that once the tab is closed memory is instantly freed. However, the helper thread always gets larger. Whether this is a memory leak or a consequence of having an application open over a long period of time is -I believe- open to discussion. I have experienced similar results with Eclipse (a memory intensive application). Daily shutdown/reboot and a few "Quit"s per a few hours fixes this issue. I don't know whether you would like to do this, though.
    Using Safari 5.0.2.
