Has my T430s backlit keyboard????

Hi! I have just bought a second hand T430s thinkpad to replace my old T61.
I get it without HDD so, I've put the SSD of my T61 (with W7 installed). When I press fn+space it only lights thinklight, like in my old T61.
But, Is it possible my T430s had backlit keyboard bad the drivers are bad?

  • T430s and Backlit Keyboard FRU... is it possible?

Got my T430s today. Has the new keyboard BUT doesn't have the backlit feature. Hmm....
Is it possible to swap out the keyboard with one that does (like the one on the T430)?  Does anyone have any experience and/or FRU that works? I loved the dual light levels and the backlighting better than the overhead option.
    Cheers,

    Good day.
I don't know if the T430 keyboards are interchangeable with the T430s, but you could compare the FRU P/Ns found in each model's Parts Listing. Or, you could just source a T430s backlit keyboard using the appropriate P/N. The keyboards are CRU.

  • MacBook Air - workaround/fix for missing backlit keyboard?

What is Apple's work-around for the monumental screw up of removing the keyboard backlights in the latest version of MBA?
How do we return unit(s) for repair?
What is the Apple Service Bulletin number for this procedure?
Can Apple install the correct keyboard for free?
What is the service RMA policy for the tens-of-thousands of furious customers who found this out AFTER they purchased it?
Can we buy a version 1 MBA (which has a proper backlit keyboard) and swap the keyboards?

I bought my Satellite P50-A-12Z over a year ago, and since few weeks the backlit keyboard has stopped working.
I used to hold FN+W to turn on/off the light keyboard, but now it doesn't work anymore and I have the message "chronometer" on the top right of the screen as you can see on this screenshot:

When I go to Desktop Assist > Tools & Utilities > Function Key , keyboard backlight is set to OFF but can't set it to ON:

    Please help me

    Hi
I don't know if this will help but try please following: perform complete shutdown - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2B03EY0002R01.htm
Start notebook again and press F12. There you should find option to enter BIOS settings. Enter BIOS settings and try to enable keyboard backlight there.
Please test it and send some feedback.

    Help, please.
I want to buy the Satellite P775-S7372 but I need to know if it has a backlit keyboard because I read somewhere that it doesn’t but according to the promo series video it has.
    Does it have?

  • Does the MacBook air now has backlit keyboard?

As I've seen discussions on the web which saying the backlit keyboard of the MacBook air has removed. Is that true?

Most, if not all Apple notebook computers, have had this backlit keyboard option. Or so I've read at least. I've never owned an Apple notebook computer before buying my MBA 13 (late 2010) and it doesn't have a backlit keyboard. I don't miss it because I've never had it on a keyboard and know how to type well. Before the blasting about "That's not the only reason to have a backlit keyboard" rants start, I know there are many reasons to have a backlit keyboard, and thankfully I don't require it. I think I'll appreciate it as an option on my next Apple notebook.

I'm not the OP but just wanted to say that I was having the same irritating problem until I found your simple resolution so want to say thanks so much for answering the OP! I don't know why the keyboard light was locked/not adjusting to the surrounding level of light despite sitting in a very dark room at nighttime! Oh well... Problem solved. D'oh. Such a silly thing that took me a whole day to figure out.
    Thanks again!

  • Replacing Nonbacklit Keyboard with Backlit Keyboard

I am considering replacing a nonbacklit keyboard with a backlit keyboard on a T530. The hardware maintenance manual does not seem to show any difference between replacing nonbacklit or backlit keyboards.  The size and dimensions of each keyboard should be the same but I am concerned about possibly different connectors.  Has anybody tried it?

I did the upgrade on a T430 and it was plug and play, not difference in connectors.

  • Can I use backlit keyboard with my Satellite C660-2D7?

    Hi all,
wondering if there is such a thing as a backlit keyboard that can be fitted to the Satellite C660-2D7 , the old one is very easy to remove.

    Hi
    Check this thread buddy:
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=233069
    and this one:
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=65677
one of the users has upgraded the own A660 with an backlight keyboard.
But of course, this is possible only if an right connector is available.

  • Having trouble finding a driver/utility for backlit keyboard

I did a fresh install of Windows 7 and have come across a utility that I cannot find, its for the infrared sensors near the webcam that detects if you are near the computer and turns the backlit keyboard off if you are not sitting in front of it.

Amazon has the OEM standard and extended batteries for your phone:

  • Error with backlit keyboard

    Hi guys.
I recently have some problems with my Macbook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012)
The keyboard light is turned off and I can't adjust the light brightness of this because F5 & F6 doesn't work.
I go to System Preferences> Keyboard and I can't find any option about illuminated keyboard, just disappeared of my mac.
I recently installed Lab Trick to see if I can manually use the light settings on the keyboard, but it shows me the following error "Your Macintosh does not seem to have any available backlit keyboard."
I tried resetting SMC, PRAM. But the problem continues.
I haven't opened the mac yet.
There will be some sensor cable disconnected?
Will be necessary to carry warranty?

    Hi,
I have the same Macbook Pro as you, and here is a picture of my Keyboard settings.
I don't know why the bottom part of yours is blank. Maybe you can try this. Check the box for Use all F1, F2, etc. and then use the fn key on your keyboard together with F6 to see if it will bring up the brightness.
Has your System Prefs Keyboard settings always been like this?

  • Where is the backlit Keyboard?

I got the Lenovo Flex 2 14'' 2 in 1 laptop today. It says on the computer screen on the sticker that it has a Backlit Keyboard (optional). I cant find anything on the compter to turn it on or cant find any help online. Please help !

Good day and welcome to the community.
I believe that 'optional' means that some models have the feature, while others do not.
Can you confirm that your machine is supposed to have the feature?
    Regards.

  • 10.9.x no backlit keyboard with FileVault 2 enabled

I adopted 10.9.x (Mavericks) from 10.6.x (Snow Leopard) several MacBook Pro's 13" and 15" a like, with or without retina displays dating from 2010 to 2014.
In 10.6.x even with FileVault enabled when you first boot the computer the backlit keyboard would illuminate so you could see to enter your password to login. After adopting 10.9.x this behavior changed, now when you boot the computer the backlit keyboard remains dark making it difficult to see the keyboard in a dark room. Only after entering the password then the backlit keyboard will begin to illuminate as the desktop is being introduced.
This will occur no matter if any 10.9.x is freshly installed on a bare drive or when preforming an incremental update (i.e. 10.9.4 to 10.9.5).
To me this doesn't make any usability sense since why not illuminate the keyboard when the computer is booting as it did in the past. I've submitted feedback to Apple engineers, spoken with the Genius Bar staff, even looked for a reasonable explanation on-line in several forums without success.
Perhaps someone here can shed some light on the matter and/or offer a work around or solution to this problem.

Sorry for the delay in responding...
I do appreciate your comment and trying to help OGELTHORPE, thank you.
SMC reset has proven not to make any difference on a variety of battery non removable MacBooks Pro's, some with Retina display's others without.
I feel this is an oversight in Apple's R&D and Q&A teams and not part of their regression testing. I've reported this matter to them since the introduction of FileVault 2 yet they have chosen to do nothing about it.
Last week in one of the Apple Stores I encouraged one of the staff to enable FileVault 2 on a 15" MacBook Pro floor/display model so we could test this. This model had OS X Yosemite 10.10.0 installed. It yielded the same result, no backlit keyboard after FileVault 2 as enabled. I presume R&D isn't concerned about this since Apple's primary focus seems to be on iOS which doesn't have backlit keyboards.

  • MBA 11" backlit keyboard no longer lighting automatically

The backlit keyboard on my MBA 11" is no longer responding to the "automatically illuminate keyboard in low light" option in System Preferences. I can control the backlights manually with F5 and F6, but they don't come on automatically in the dark (easily testing by covering the camera).
Originally, the F keys would even be completely inactive, with a line appearing across the on-screen brightness display to say the control was on automatic, but that doesn't happen any more.
I have reset the SMC, but that has changed nothing. The automatic brightness control on the display works fine.

I am replying to my own post, as I don't see a way to edit it.
While researching this issue further, I found a "work-around" from a user called Golden Shoes - where the creation of a .css file is decribed in expert, easy to follow detail.  This worked perfectly, and I have since infected my other toys with this fix for Safari zoom levels...
