Has online ordering worked for anyone?

Over the past day and a half, I've been attempting to order my 3GS online via Apple.com. But every time I get the "must go to Apple store" message... so today I went to the Apple store.
Talked to the greeter and she said it had to be done online, as they can't order it in the store for me (WHAT?!) and the website must have been down when I tried to order it, all twenty or more times I've tried. I figured "oh ok, this is dumb, but I guess I will wait for the website to work again" and decided to try it in store, and guess what, it worked! Because I didn't want to stand there for 15 minutes or how ever long, I decided I would go home and try to order it. To my surprise, when I got home, it still doesn't work.
Maybe it's literally down all but 5 minutes of the day, but I don't think that can be right. I have never had a problem with the Apple store until now. Is anyone else having this issue or is it just me?
Going to call and complain to Apple in an hour or two if it doesn't work again, but I'm hoping it will start.

Interesting variety of experiences. We have a family plan with shared minutes and texting. I kept trying to order a 3GS for just one line and got through the process to varying points about 30 different times. Some of the time I would get through the majority of the process and then I would get "an unexpected error occurred, please try later." I was going to give up. On Wednesday night at about 6 CT, I decided to try one more time and for some reason that time I was able to get through the entire process and order my phone. I picked a data plan but it didn't give me an option to pick a text plan. The confirmation that I received on the order just said "no text plan chosen". That would be correct because I didn't need to choose one, I already have an unlimited text plan at the family account level for all five of our phones.
I just looked at my ATT account again and it still shows that we have an unlimited family texting plan at the group level covering all of our phones. I didn't change any of that in order to get the website to accept my 3Gs order.
While this is not meant to be a scientific explanation in the least, my suspicion for the issues is that the ordering system is simply on overload from how many people are trying to order phones. I don't think it has anything to do with what kind of plan you are on, whether or not you have family text or anything else. I think the fact that you can't complete the transaction when you are trying to is simply because the threads into the system must be its capacity to complete as many simultaneous orders as it can. I think you just have to keep trying until you hit your window of opportunity. I just think I was in queue at the right time when another transaction finished and mine was able to bump up to the next step.

    It works now, but it was a bit of a mess for a bit.
    I turned off bookmark syncing on all devices but one, I exported my bookmarks to the desktop and deleted them from safari, thus deleting them from iCloud, I then added them back from the desktop. On my other devices I deleted all my bookmarks, turned bookmark syncing back on and chose to merge.

    What I am saying is ..........
    The iPhone HAS to be active making calls on the UK carrier network for the carrier to identify as "theirs" and therefore eligible for the Carrier to unlock
    The way to achieve this is to use a PAYG sim making and receiving calls to establish a customer relationship  with the Carrier and then follow the Carrier's process to unlock
    With a PAYG it usually means adding a specified (by the carrier ) amount  usually £15 /£20 depending on the carrier
    This is how O2 function and according to Gemma  this is how Vodafone work

    i use screen sharing on a number of macs, which i find enormously helpful... 2 MBPros w/ 10.5.6, 1 G5 w/ 10.5.5, 1 Powerbook w/ 10.4.11...
    i've never gotten the clipboard transfers to work on any of these macs with any combination... does it work for anyone else? is there some kind of option to enable it?

    I was having trouble with this until I had an "Ahh!" moment... I expected that when you select 'Send Clipboard' or 'Get Clipboard' that Screen Sharing would paste the other computer's clipboard contents. It never seemed to 'appear' where my cursor was. Once I realized that I needed to actually 'paste' the clipboard after the transfer, it works like a charm (although it still feels like an extra step to me).
    Just a thought.

    I have to start it with

    because the libs are in these folders.
    Then it works - until I wanted to view my mailbox. It can be reproduced by mailboxes - mailboxes + clicking on any folder in my mailbox.

    Airdrop works between iOS devices and between OS X devices. Airdrop between OS X and iOS requires BlueTooth 4 on both platforms. Thus, it won't work with older iPhone/iPads or with older Macs.   • Call of duty 1.5 patch on intel working for anyone?

    If anyone has seen my past posts you would know i have been having some problems with my 24" intel iMac and call f duty and call of duty United Offensive. Well to save you all the past posts..i have finally gotten the disks installed on my computer and running. the problem is if i try to install the 1.5 patch for COD. the installation doesn't happen. it stops installing at the start and looks like it will continue but never does. I called Aspyr and they said that the patch is not intel compatible and that it won't install. bummer. however they also told me that COD in general would not run on an intel or with my graphics card and it runs 100% better than COD 2 does....which runs like atari. has anyone installed the 1.5 patch successfully? if so how? thanks

    ok guys...here is the NEW news. you may like this but lets not get our hopes up. don't bother trying to install the patch from your friends computer,i have talked to aspyr a few times over the phone about this the past couple of days and they said it can only be updated from the installer. no other way. I tried doing that too with no success. but i will now copy the email that i sent them and their responses. tell me how i did:)

  • Command-period to cancel EXS sample loading: Does this work for anyone?

    Hello everyone,
    When loading a sample instrument into the EXS, watching with glee as that wonderful progress bar slowly fills up; underneath there is this note: Press "command-period" to cancel. No matter what I do nor how hard I try, I cannot get this key command to work. When I first noticed this problem long ago, I searched both manuals and found nothing, and with a great sadness in my heart, I defined it as a "no longer supported feature" in logic and moved on.
    Today, after experiencing the relentless loading of unnecessary samples (see my other post) my thoughts wandered yet again to how wonderful life would be if this feature actually worked!
    So I'm asking, has ANYONE been able to get this to work? If not, anyone know of a work around to cancel the loading of samples?
    I anxiously await your replies, and thank you for your help.

    It's never worked for me either. Sorry I don't have a work around (other than unplugging the computer), but did want to confirm that indeed it doesn't work.
    It does work for the bounce progress bar though.... Not that that helps, but is worth mentioning.

  • Special keyboard hotkeys not working for anyone else?

    I have a Kensington Ci70 keyboard and it has these really nice buttons to eject a disk, open Spotlight, open Mail, open Safari, and open iTunes.
    I upgraded from OS X 10.6, and they all worked.  The keyboard is a plug-n-play device and there are no drivers or software.  After upgrading to Mavericks, they stopped working.  Anyone else have a similar problem or figured out a workaround?  We couldn't program such a shortcut in Keyboard Preferences, as the computer didn't recognize any of the buttons - but the eject button still worked. 
    Apple customer support is checking in with the engineering department, but just wondered if any users have figured things out.

    I had this same issue too.  Pressing Ctrl + 1,2,3,4 would work for the numbers along the top of the keyboard but not for numbers inside the numeric keypad section on my external Apple keyboard.  Luckily, I had a back up of com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plist which contained settings that allowed all of the Ctrl + 1,2,3,4 keys to work.  I restored this backup into my Library/Preferences directory and all is well.
