so with the double cash back promo i no longer use my 1.5% cash back NFCU cashRewards because it doesn't reward me as much now. has this new promo made you SD any cards?

Note - that no internet backup service has been proven to be safe and effective for backing up the iPhoto library - unless you personally have backup uyp an iPhoto library and restored it sucussfuly form one it should not be recommended - a large number of people have lost their photos trying it

It's gives error as "ORA-01031: insufficient privileges"

Discover Double Cash CLI

I just requested the double cash offer on the last day of my last statement. A few days later, I received an email from Discover saying I was getting a CLI. It was just over a 30% increase. Has anyone else found they were given a CLI after signing up for this promotion? I'm wondering if Discover isn't trying to increase spending power, in hopes that people will end up in debt, having to pay a lot of interest as a result of the promotion. It could potentially be a good way fr them to make their money back and then some. Just thought it was interesting that I rarely get CLIs and I just happen to get my biggest one ever from them right after signing up.

The best practice when backing up your files

Hi,
I recently started using Carbon Copy Cloner after using only Time Machine as my back up solution. I do understand the purpose of each application TM and a cloner utility such as Super Duper or CCC but I was wondering what the best process is when using these two methods to backup you files.
For instance I use TM to back up my files as frequently as possible to keep all my recent changes updated, but I don’t see how I would keep my clone updated and make sure that when something happens I will have a workable boot disk and not something that contains corrupted files. In other words I think these cloner utilities have some sort of feature to keep your clone drive updated every time something changes but this got me wondering what if you update your clone drive and for some reason one of the updated file was corrupted, without you knowing it if course, now you have a backup that contains bad files and may affect your system (corrupted fonts files etc.) and when you realized that something is not working right in your system you may want to recover from your clone but you will basically end up with the same problem because the bad files were also backed up.
How do you ensure that your clone will always be ready and that it will not contain bad files?
What is your backup process? Be so kind and share your method.
Again, I’m ok with TM I just need to know how you guys are managing your clone drives using ether Super Duper or Carbon Copy Cloner.

I use CCC exclusively and update my clones every couple of days or after installing updates. I have no use for TM, since I've never had to go back and get something I deleted or changed. I do, however, boot into those clones on a routine basis to ensure that they look and act like the originals. This has worked for over seven years, but YMMV.

Has the Calendar share backup process changed?

I have been using the following apple process for exporting a calendar from icloud for a while but it now results in a file not found error. Does anybody know if there is a new process?

This method of backing up starts with publishing a calendar that you can then download to your computer. If your calendar is already on your computer, skip to the OS X or Windows instructions.
Go to iCloud Calendar at icloud.com/calendar and sign in using your iCloud Apple ID and password.
Publicly share a calendar.
Select and copy the URL (web address) from that shared calendar and paste it to the address field in your browser; do not press Enter or Return yet.
Change "webcal" to "http", and then press Enter.
An ICS file will download to your default downloads location. The calendar can be added to a calendar client like iCal on Mac or Outlook on a Windows PC.
Once the download completes, unpublish the shared calendar.

Has the FTP Root Directory specification changed in CS6?

I recently upgraded from CS5.5 to CS6 and it appears that the method of specifying the root directory for the remote server has changed. For example I had a root file specification of /htdocs/milehighmgc/ that worked perfectly in CS5.5 both in the Site Manager and when I connected to the server from the Files Panel. After upgrading to CS6 it sttill would connect from the Site Manager but when I tried to connect from the Files Panel I got an error message that said "An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to the host." I was able to get it to go by adding another / to the root folder definition so that it read //htdocs/milehighmgc/.
Has anyone out there seen this? Is there a proper syntax that I am not aware of after using this stuff for 3 years?

No, it hasn't changed, and I've never seen a double-slash at the beginning of the path, either. How odd.

Is Automator the right software to back up your music library?

I'm not very familiar with Automator, but I'm trying to make it do something and I fail miserably.
All I want is when I add a song to my iTune, I would like Automator to immediately create a back up of the song.
Is this the right software to do that?
If not, suggestions?

Not to blow my own horn but check out the article at http://www.atpm.com/12.07/automator.shtml I developed a workflow that copies your music folder. I didn't discuss it much in the article but there is also a link to an Automator action that could be added to the workflow so that it speeds things up by only copying files modified sine the last backup.
I saved my workflow as an application that is double-clickable. In the article I also talk about using Automator and iCal to achieve timed backups. For what you want to do it's probably best to save as an application and attach it to the music folder as a folder action. Trying to decide if I should apply for the Citi Double Cash

I have a ton of inquiries. Wanting to garden, but I want to try. Just approved for a Venture for $5k a few days ago. CLI with Citi AAdvantage yesterday. Denied for both Delta Exp and Amex. Denied for even a Macys CLI even though that's just a soft pull. I think the Delta wasn't even a pull because when I went to check on the status, it was "canceled" instead of denied - may have been because I applied for the Amex the day prior. Really wanting that Citi Double. I know, I'm an addict now.

Citi likes to pull EQ and EX, which are your lowest scores respectively. That, coupled with your INQ's, probably won't bode well for your recon. I wouldn't apply for DC again until you see that you're prequalified online for it (where you are given a specific APR range). Cold apping for it is risky, especially if you have a lot of INQ's. The DC is probably Citi's toughest card to get given its UW requirements. Sorry to hear about the decline.

Has the way FCPX synchronizes clips changed recently? FCPX no longer syncing in background

(I am using FCP 10.1.3) I just stared syncing clips for my latest project to day and have met an unrecognizable process/workflow. It would seem that fcpx is no longer syncing in background? And quite frankly I don’t get it and it is really slowing me down.
What I am expecting to happen:
1. I select my video and audio file
2. right click
3. click sync clips
4. New compound clip is created in event and progress of syncing is shown in the background tasks window/wheel.
5. Once I have synced clips in a scene I search "sync" and check them
What is happening instead:
1. I select the clips I want to sync
2. Right click
3. Select sync clips
4. A dialogue box asking where I would like these new compound clips to be stored and what they should be named. (Thats cool I guess, except I am fine with the default and clicking ok adds another step to my workflow)
5. I click ok. FCP greets me with a progress bar, which prevents me from doing any other work.
6. Once the progress bar is done FCPX removes me from my smart folder or any search to the top level of the event I am in and selects the new compound clip. (This could be convenient in some cases, except I am trying to synchronies around 600 clips.)
Is this new in some update in the last few months? Or did I forget something about how I used to do it that made it faster? Is there something I am missing about this new setup that would enhance my workflow? This is currently looking fightingly laborious and slow, any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Is it unusual that ALL of the files did not lose the link? Once i connected the external drive and copied the iphoto library onto it, i deleted it from my imac to create space. It's backed up to both Time Capsule (via time machine) and external drive (copied). When FCPX choked, i copied it back to the imac, deleted FCPX and re-installed. But around 40% of source clips are still present.
Still a young mac user...

It should look the same to the users. No big new features were added, just some bug fixes.

Has the SDN forum search facility changed?

When in any of the forums I used to be able to search in relation to the forum area that I was in. However, that option seems to have gone and I only have the option shown in the top right corner to search the all forums. For example, when in the CRM WebUI forum and search for 'Remove button from toolbar' I get loads of ALV/ABAP postings from another forum area.
There used to be another search option for the particular forum you were in. Am I alone in not being able to see this?.
I noticed that this sudenly happened about a month back.

I'll try the solution suggest above, but I should not have to.
One of the prerequsites steps is for us to check SDN before raising a support call. The way the site works now makes this a little harder, or at least more effort.

I'm sure they'll get it sorted, eventually, especially as we are possibly raising a few more support calls now as many people can't be bothered to go through the extra effort to try and find a solution using SDN. So I guess it's in SAP's favour to get this working ASAP.
