Has the K8N Neo2 Platinum bios poroblem been fixed?

I work at CanadaComputers, and well we've been having this problem w/ people purchasing the K8N Neo2 Platinum, and a 3000+ winchester, mainly because that it wont post becuase the CPU is 90NM, where as the bios that is shipped w/ the board only supports 130NM.
I was just wondering if that was fixed or something because people that still buy the board from us, have this problem. Are we getting just the older versions of the board (the june build i think?) or has the problem just not been looked into?
Luis

Interesting that you work there. I bought an MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum and AMD64 3000+ . How are people finding the Asus A8V DX and Epox 9nda3+? Any problems? I may sell my MSI and grab one of those, and actually could easily get it from CC. I don't care if I lose on total speed etc. I want stability and less problems. I haven't even put my PC together and gotten it up and running and the list of potential problems is daunting. That and the fact that I happen to have a Matrox G400 video card which won't even allow me to start my PC! Arrghh. Either that or grab a Sapphire 9600XT even though I hardly play games.

When will the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum BIOS 1.C be released?
    Thanks

Don´t know the reason for you guys, for updating bios, but basically I would recommend Syars modded EasyBios, based on the 1C3 (1C0) version.
    Check out the link in Syars sig or read it here;

and read about the differant version and you´ll get a pretty good idea whats changed and added.

  • Which SATA port on the K8N Neo2 Platinum?

Hi! I recently got a 160GB Maxtor DiamondMax 9 Plus hard drive, but I have read somewhere (i forgot where I read it) that two S-ATA ports on the K8N Neo2 Platinum will corrupt your hard drive data if you overclock. I dont know if this is still true (I have BIOS ver 1.8) but please could someone tell me which port I should connect my S-ATA drive to? (the only drive I have at the moment is a 160GB IDE drive). I dont want RAID. Thanks!

If u go over 230 sata 1/2 are liable to corruption.
    230GB i assume?

  • Has the Asus G71GX-RX05 GPU problem been fixed?

Has the Asus G71GX-RX05 GPU problem been fixed? And if so what do you have to do to fix it.

    hi vanhelsing.
i know that asus was working on an updated BIOS to fix the GPU issue, and according to the last post in this thread on the asus support forums (http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20090627114124765&board_id=3&model=G71Gx(BestBuy)&SLanguage=e...), rev. 1201 seems to have done the trick.
i checked the asus support website (http://support.asus.com), and i found that there is an even new version of the BIOS - rev. 1302. i would recommend moving to this BIOS upon unboxing your G71GX.
i have updated the BIOS on both notebooks and desktops before, and the process is fairly painless. i found this link off the asus support site (http://support.asus.com/technicaldocuments/technicaldocuments.aspx?root=198&SLanguage=en-us), and it describes how to update the BIOS. i would recommend having a conversation with your local geek squad if you're not comfortable doing the process yourself.

  • Few question above the k8n neo2 platinum and raid

    hi
i have for now intel 3.4ghz and asus p4c800dlux and 4 sata drives :
2x36giga wd 10000 raptors in raid 0 (connected to the on board promise sata controller)
2x200giga wd 7200 jd sata that (connected to on bard sata ports)
i order a athlon fx-55 and k8n neo2 platinum for a oc (a have 2x512 corsiar pc4000pro and hydro cool 200 ) and its look that its going to be problem
"SATA ports 1+2 will not maintain a lock and you can and will corrupt hard drives placed on these channels if you raise the HTT above 220mhz."
    http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=ge...890&articID=228
so im in a problem, if i wont to do nice oc (and i will) i need to leave sata ports 1 and 2 not connected and buy a sata-pci controller for my 2x200giga , im right ?
in that case i need to connect the raptors in raid 0 in the sata 3-4 prots (near the agp) but:
the raid on the noe2 is "NV RAID (Software)" it means that there is no a controller like promise and the cpu need to replace the controller work, so its doing a lower performance.

If you had 4 huge drives I would be more sympathetic. To me every board is a compromise, resulting in me having to abandon something I might have done previoulsy. In you case ditch the two 36gb drives, and slum it with the 200gb drives. Remember that "overclocking" is not a right. There will be many users oblivious of the SATA 1/2 overclocking problems running 4 sata drives in RAID without a problem.

  • Strange behaviour in K8N Neo2 platinum BIOS

I have this board and recently got Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2GB kit that are rated at 2.8v. I'm running 1.8 bios on the motherboard and never had stability issues with my old memory Corsair 1024MB xlpro as they're only rated at 2.6 but since I got the new memory I was getting these sudden reboots while playing games. I'm running the memory at DDR400 at the moment with 2-2-2-5 timings. No matter what I set the voltage in BIOS I was still getting reboots. I had it at 2.8v and 2.85v(max) still it would crash all the time. I thought I had faulty memory so I was just about to RMA it when I decided to try and change the voltage in CoreCell. No matter what I set the voltage in BIOS CoreCell was always reporting 2.70v on memory. I changed it to 2.80v in CoreCell and all my troubles are gone. I haven't checked voltages with Voltmeter but it seems as either the MSI bios is not working properly or it's deliberately locked to 2.70V no mater what you set it to. Anybody experienced the same thing?

Your board has the vdimm trcd bug it seems .
    2-2-2-5 always gives 2.70v vdimm .
    Try 2-3-2-5 , and set 2.80v , see if it sticks .
    hi syar
What do you mean a bug, is it a bios issue that was fixed in later bios version or a hardware thing?
    thanks m8

  • Is the K8N NEO2 Platinum Dual-Core compatible?

It is relevant if you have to decide if you buy a new Mobo!
Everything i wanted to know was if K8N Neo2 is able to support Dual-Core CPUs.
I think it´s my decision if its relevant or not !!!!

Offcially that board does not have support for San Diego at this time, so if you have got it working, as some people have it may have some wierd and wonderful effects on your system.
A guy on another forum got a response from a MSI tech that said they were working on it and to check their site regularly for a bios update. As far as "weird and wonderful effects" my setup has never run faster or smooter since I upgraded from my 3500+ Winchester. This is the 3rd day I've been running the San Diego, have had no problems other then having to use A64 tweaker to set RAM timing to 1T. 500Mhz overclock  stock voltage, air-cooled, prime stable, I ran the torture test for 9 hours overnight!
    Check it out!

    PLEASE...THERE IS NO 1.52 Beta NEO2 BIOS.
There was a mixup with someones config, as he had the Neo2 (939)board and not the Neo (754) one.
I say again.DON'T flash any 1.52 BIOS to Neo2 Board. It will fux it.That post quoted was wrong.I just left it there for people to see not to follow.
The latest beta Neo2 BIOS is the 1.51 and i will be sending it later today to syar2003 along with the 1.4 official so all of you can download it.

  • Is it safe to upgrade the K8N Neo4 Platinum Bios?

Hi all, i have the motherboard in subject, (MS-7125 VER:1) BIOS ver. 1.50, experiencing some USB detection issues.
MSI say, about new bios 1.9: "Improve compatilbility problem with some USB 2.0 devices". Ok, this bios sound good for me... Someone know if i can flash new bios without problems, or is it a "bad bios"? In that case, i'll wait for a new one

_MarcoM_; I agree, my system is running just great with Bios V1.6, I have a USB Scanner, Printer and a wireless Network Adapter and have had no problems at all. The only reason I would even give updating my Bios, would be if there is something there that is proven to be better without any other bugs tagging along.

  • So has the 16 bit Windows Color problem been fixed on the 27" 4850 iMacs?

I had pretty much given up with the whole driver debacle involving trying to get 32 bit colour in Windows 7 on my 27" iMac.
Just wondering if apple had fixed this, or if there was any more info to get round the problem.
    Cheers

As a first workaround, install the ATI Catalyst driver package (i.e., the mobility version). However, since the ATI driver is not 100% compatible with the probably by Apple adapted firmware of the iMac ATI graphics card, this workaround will still suffer on some crashes (esp. at 3d games) and suffer on some problems on wakeup after (deep) power safe sleep, at least on my iMac. At least, this approaches solves the color banding issue..

  • Cool and Quiet problem on K8N Neo2 Platinum v1.3 bios

    Hello
I have a problem with the Cool and Quiet feature on the K8N Neo2 Platinum (v1.3 bios).
As soon and I boot the Core Center v1.7.0.0 will instantly overclock my A64 3500+ CPU to 3000+ Mhz.  Of course this reboots my PC.
I have Cool and Quiet enabled in the bios, Automatic overclocking disabled in the bios and the Core Center softwares overclocking is (well it was) disabled?  How can I install it or get it to stop overclocking the system.
I want to run the Core Center to enable the Cool and Quiet fan controlling stuff.
    Thanks

Strange that Corecenter would overclock your cpu to 3ghz. It's known to be unreliable software, but not that unreliable.
Are you running a stock 3500+, or are you overclocking the HTT/FSB beyond 200?
Previous posted was right about cool and quiet software. You don't need corecenter to run it. Just stay away from corecenter and even uninstall it
Cool and quiet software (a device driver that you download from AMD, or that comes pre-installed with XP SP2) simply works as follows. It introduces the notion of several p-states (processor states) that it switches between based on its reading of cpu load. A p-state is a pairing of cpu voltage and cpu multiplier.  On my 3200+ newcastle, the p-states are:
    1.5V, 11x
    1.4V, 10x
    1.3V, 9x
    1.1V, 5x
Your 3500+ might be similar. Anyway, just run cpu-z instead of corecenter to watch your cpu speed changing on the fly.
As far as fan speeds go: the cool and quiet driver doesn't affect fan speeds.  That means to get the "quiet" part of "cool and quiet" you need either
    (a) a fan that has a temperature sensor and which automatically changes its speed based on that, or
    (b) just use the motherboard BIOS setting to do the same via bios software.
    (c) use speedfan to do the same via windows software.
I myself prefer (b) but it depends on the bios accurately reporting temperature, which can vary wildly between bios releases (e.g. newcastles didn't start getting accurate temp reports until bios 1.4).
