Has the 'No WiFi detection' issue ever been resolved?

I have just bought my first iphone (3G) from a friend having been a Blackberry man for some years. Having restored the phone to factory settings it quickly became apparent that the WiFi detection was not working. No problem I thought, there are a million different forums on line, all full of useful information and with Apple being such an enormous outfit they certainly won't leave any issues unresolved. I was correct on one assumption, there are plenty of forums, however the issue does not appear to have been solved? In a last desperate attempt at gaining some clarity I am trying this one........ please restore my faith.
1. I have reset network settings.
The WiFi is serving several other machines perfectly well and is in good health.

Never heard of it myself but I performed the same search you did. I don't htink it was ever resolved because it's not really a problem. It spans several apps and different OS and hardware configurations which, to me, suggests the erro that is coming up is meaningless, like so many crash indicators.
Best suggestion I found was from David S., empty the FCP caches.

Yes, despite being it an iPhone5 (8.0.2) attempting to connect to an Airport Express.
In my case the iPhone "connects" to Airport Express 2nd generation, but no Internet packages are available; Airport Utility shows the Airport Express as not connected to the Internet; but the iMac, MBP, Motorola phone, Samsung Smart TV and HP printer connect without any trouble.
The actual issue is the DHCP :
sometimes the iPhone gets none, and
when an address is assigned it just doesn't work,
even renewing the address won't work all the times,
switching off and on the WiFi won't work all the times neither,
going on Airplane mode, then back won't work all the times.
Solutions attempted and failed:
Reseting and reconfiguring Airport Express;
Reseting iPhone;
Switching off and on the iPhone;
Setup the DHCP renewal for every 5 days;
Meditation and stark visualisation;
Other possible patch not yet attempted : setting fixed IP addresses
All suggestions received resemble Windows' "Plug & Pray"
I gave up after reading several notes around the WWW complaining about it.
Last credible suggestion : wait for 8.0.3 or 8.1, whichever fixes the issue first.

i know that asus was working on an updated BIOS to fix the GPU issue, and according to the last post in this thread on the asus support forums (http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20090627114124765&board_id=3&model=G71Gx(BestBuy)&SLanguage=e...), rev. 1201 seems to have done the trick.
i checked the asus support website (http://support.asus.com), and i found that there is an even new version of the BIOS - rev. 1302. i would recommend moving to this BIOS upon unboxing your G71GX.
i have updated the BIOS on both notebooks and desktops before, and the process is fairly painless. i found this link off the asus support site (http://support.asus.com/technicaldocuments/technicaldocuments.aspx?root=198&SLanguage=en-us), and it describes how to update the BIOS. i would recommend having a conversation with your local geek squad if you're not comfortable doing the process yourself.

Go to Settings, iCloud, and then Storage and Backup. You will then see a button to backup your iPad. It may be that you have much stuff (i.e. photos, apps) for it to do a full backup but you will be able to tell what the estimated backup should be and what it will consist of so that you can choose to prune down items. If you don't want to backup and get rid of the messages you can just turn backup off from this area as well.

I have submitted feedback several times during the past few years and never received a response on this topic.
This inability to recognize the importance of this feature to the average business smartphone user is pure practical blindness on Apple's part. Ask any real business man or woman who has made the change to the iPhone and they will tell you that this is the one feature that makes them not love their iPhone 100 percent. Ask any well informed business person why they have not switched over to the iPhone and the lack of this "should be standard" feature will be near if not on top of their list of reasons.
This will lead me right back to a Windows based smartphone along with all of my employees and vendors which I influence. All the fun stuff focus and ignoring this basic business function will continue to cost Apple a big share of the business user market. They could dominate if they listened to some real business users.
Very sad. Great potential ignored and lost.

My iPad is locked up, the message "iCloud backup hasn't been backed up in 2 weeks, needs to be plugged in, locked and connected to WiFi." It is unresponsive to the "ok" command to move forward with the backup. It is stuck.

Reset it by holding the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release.

Has the K8N Neo2 Platinum bios poroblem been fixed?

I work at CanadaComputers, and well we've been having this problem w/ people purchasing the K8N Neo2 Platinum, and a 3000+ winchester, mainly because that it wont post becuase the CPU is 90NM, where as the bios that is shipped w/ the board only supports 130NM.
I was just wondering if that was fixed or something because people that still buy the board from us, have this problem. Are we getting just the older versions of the board (the june build i think?) or has the problem just not been looked into?

Interesting that you work there. I bought an MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum and AMD64 3000+ . How are people finding the Asus A8V DX and Epox 9nda3+? Any problems? I may sell my MSI and grab one of those, and actually could easily get it from CC. I don't care if I lose on total speed etc. I want stability and less problems. I haven't even put my PC together and gotten it up and running and the list of potential problems is daunting. That and the fact that I happen to have a Matrox G400 video card which won't even allow me to start my PC! Arrghh. Either that or grab a Sapphire 9600XT even though I hardly play games.

In the latest Lion update, has the dropping WiFi issue really truly been totally fixed?

I have updated two machines directly to 10.7.2 and have had no issues with either machine.
Are you sure these problems are not as a result of the wireless router used rather than a Lion problem?
I have seen many wireless faults in the past caused by the routers which have been fixed by updating the router firmware.
Maybe those who are posting wireless problems need to also state the make and model of router they are using to see if a pattern emerges?

Yeah... so have you guys made a patch that fixes this whole connection/player detection problem? I'm still furious, and waiting for a solution so I can do anything with my player. Seriously, make a patch. Love,

Yeah you've got it - almost every Zen owner who tried updating their firmware has been trudging through this problem (mine was also with a Zen Touch, 40 gig). There are a million and two threads regarding the issue, so I suggest you check them out and see if you can get anything done. So far, none of the processes have worked for me. But check them out and see what you can do. I guess the main purpouse of the thread is to hopefully convine Creative to put in a little extra effort and release a patch!

HAS THE IM+ speak-to-text Actually Been Released Yet? Or not quite?

i found IM+ lite on the iphone apps search, but can't seem to utilize the speak-to-text feature. Is this because it hasn't actually been released? Or is it on the IM+ lite and I just need to figure it out? Thanks in advance!!

So has the 16 bit Windows Color problem been fixed on the 27" 4850 iMacs?

I had pretty much given up with the whole driver debacle involving trying to get 32 bit colour in Windows 7 on my 27" iMac.
Just wondering if apple had fixed this, or if there was any more info to get round the problem.

As a first workaround, install the ATI Catalyst driver package (i.e., the mobility version). However, since the ATI driver is not 100% compatible with the probably by Apple adapted firmware of the iMac ATI graphics card, this workaround will still suffer on some crashes (esp. at 3d games) and suffer on some problems on wakeup after (deep) power safe sleep, at least on my iMac. At least, this approaches solves the color banding issue..

Try plugging it up to your computer and launching iTunes and either resetting it to factory settings or resetting to last sync. Hopefully it just noticing it's plugged up to iTunes will fix it. This happened to my friend once and all she had to do was plug it into her computer and that fixed it.
