are there new drivers or patches for the kensington trackball expert? i'm using mountain lion on the imac 3.06 ghz intel i3 and it will not recogmize any driver i install. all this after the installation of mountain lion.

Kensington has a new version of Trackball Works 1.1.1 available, try it and see if your problems go away.
It is made for Lion & Mountain Lion.

I'm the original poster on this thread. I ended up taking my iPad back to the Apple Store. They ran some diagnostics, and found that my RAM was almost maxed out, which didn't really make sense. It indicated a faulty processor, so they gave me a new iPad. I took it home, synched, and it only took about 45 minutes to synch 30 gigs of data. My original iPad took about 5 hours to synch for the first time. Clearly there was a problem with the processor in the first one, but I didn't realize it at first, as it took several weeks before it started exhibiting the erratic screen behavior. Hope this helps anyone else who might experience this down the line.

So i went to my apple store... which was PACKED. Found a manager and explained my problem. Without any question, they simply replaced it. Awesome!

I have the same problem, and I found out what's wrong, it's not the software - restart, restore and FW upgrade will not help, it's definitely hardware. The best option is to replace your iPad assuming you have an apple store nearby…

I have my HP printer/scanner hooked in to (by usb) to an airport express. I knew about a year ago that you weren't able to scan with this configuration. Has there been any workaround to this problem?

The only workaround remains to connect your printer/scanner directly to your computer.
Since It is HP that must supply the correct sofware drivers for this functionality to work on the AirPorts, you might want to contact HP to ask them about their future plans in this regard.
I suppose that it could not hurt to remind Apple that you would like to see this type of functionality as well.

Unfortunately the error message does not identify the specific server, I (as many folks do) have several, Mac, yahoo, google ect.

If you're asking about compatibility, that would be something you would need to ask of the app developers, though most apps compatible with Mountain Lion should be compatible with Mavericks. You can also consult the tables here:

If you're asking whether installing Mavericks will delete your apps, no, it won't, though a good backup is always highly recommended.

I already contacted MSI they wrote me off and gave me a bullshit copy paste answer that had nothing to do with my question. Also this is almost certainly a software issue, and any half decent company would have test units from previous batches especially when the device is only a few months old.

If you want it, buy it. The posts above are right on the mark (except waiting is probably overly-cautious). The best advice (from anamusic) is to buy the extended warranty - well worth the money.

Encore CS5.1 and DTS sound for BluRay: Has there been any success

I have not updated to the latest version (can't afford at the moment) but I would really like to know if there have been any improvements in the DTS sound file handling.
In CS5 you can NOT create a BluRay disk with dts sound. dtshd (using DTS MasterAudioSuite) are not accepted at all and .cpt files are accepted but can only be used for DVD projects (when trying to create a BD project with .cpt you can an error of file not valid for BluRay).
Has something changed in newer version?
I would be really interested to know about this.

Just wondering if anybody has come across any standard i-Expenses reports that have been shipped with related modules that would save us creating some ad-hoc and ORACLE reports. For example, a report that would tell us how many outstanding expense reports that have not yet been approved.
Ive found you can export data from 'Internet Expenses Auditor' but thats just for us Admin types..

Thanks for the suggestions.
The reports are to remind users of their Expense Reports rather than them remembering themselves and finding out whats to do with any outstanding ones. I think I'm going to just stick with running SQL queries periodically and emailing the users.

Seriously, you must not have looked too hard.
Both Office 2008 and 2011 work with Mountain Lion, Office 2004 does not.

However, accessing the same URL in FF21 and newer results with the webpage being displayed but the music associated with it does not play. Microsoft Windows Media Player plugin is installed but is not selectable from the file type play selection. The Quicktime Player plugin is also installed. Selecting that or Windows Media Player to handle midi files has no effect on the behavior. I don't believe the plugins are at fault but rather something in how Firefox handles background file use that has changed.
I have done searches on the Internet and found numerous reports of this problem. Please look for yourself and decide if there is a problem or at least tell us how to fix this situation.

That is a midi file (Content-Type: audio/mid), so you need a plugin that can handle this MIME type (see the about:plugins page).

Has there been any indication that a Service Pack 3 will be released?

There have been a number of cumulative updates. In the past, there was some caution expressed regarding not applying CUs unless there was a specific issue that the CU addressed.
It has been a year since the last Service Pack. The CUs have included quite a wide variety of fixes.
It isn't clear to me how many new problems might be caused by just arbitrarily applying the latest CU. Certainly I would begin by applying it to a test server. Certainly as well a test server will not be able to replicate the type of work load
that a production server needs to support.
If no further Service Packs are going to be forthcoming, then working CUs through the upgrade process seems relevant.
If however, a more "hardened" Service Pack were planned, I would rather wait and go through that process with a hope that I would encounter fewer unpleasant side effects.
How do other SP 2010 admins handle this type of situation?

I'm not personally aware of an upcoming SP3 and of course this doesn't mean one is coming or not. From past experience, service packs usually come out ever 12-18 months so given this pattern I would guess if another SP is released it will be within the next
6 months.
That said, SharePoint 2010 ends mainstream support on October 13, 2015 (i.e. 14 and a half months from right now). Even if there is a Service Pack 3, it's support will end on this date as well.
I recommend installing security fixes. Install CUs only if needed. This is the same advice from your first paragraph. :)
What you should be considering is: what are your plans in the next year for SharePoint?
Once mainstream support ends, Microsoft will not longer be pushing out updates other than security fixes. New functionality that you want to use in SharePoint won't be available to you without developing it yourself or buying a 3rd party product. Microsoft
support calls will cost money even if in the end the resolution turns out to be something that would have normally been a no-charge incident.
Now is the time to start planning an upgrade to SharePoint 2013, SharePoint Online, or a migration to another platform.

Has there been any feed back from Apple or Nike?

I have been on the forums for a week or so now, I found myself here because like many others the times the “My Records” section of the Nike+ website have never been correct for me. The numbers on my iPod are fine.
I understand that bugs take time to hammer out, so I am trying to be patient. However I am beginning to be concerned. To the best of my Knowledge I have not seen a single replay buy a Nike or Apple representative in any of the several threads discussing the issue.
I am pretty sure the issue is know, and probably being worked on, but I would feel much better if Someone official would simple replay, saying “this issue is know, and will be addressed ASAP.”, heck I would even welcome a “This is not a issue, you must be doing something wrong.”
So beside the basic form letter response form Nike support has anyone herd anything concrete about this issue?

Just got off the phone with Nike+. (They answer very promptly!) Christian says they actively monitor the Apple Discussion forum. They are working on the issues--for example the time stamp issue. I assume Apple monitors the forum as well, so the forum is the right place to be. Even if it does feel like we are just talking to each other, tech support and product development are lurking and learning.
Of course, Nike+ only deals with their Nike+ web-site end of things (obviously). Anything to do with the hardware or data storage on the Nano is an Apple problem. I asked Nike+ about uploads to Nike+ being rejected--whether that was a Nike+ problem or an Apple problem. I think the answer was that it depends (on what's causing the upload to be rejected). So I wonder who works on interface issues where the cause of the problem is not known?
I tried to call Apple--told there was a 15 minute wait time to get through. Didn't bother to hold.
