You're only expected to pay for one...you can then download and install to as many computers as you have an account on.

  • How many copies of 10.2.8 can I have on one HDD? To partition or not to ...

    Hi,
I hope that this makes sense to those who read it. If, it doesn't then, please - someone say so. In case some of you recognize my monicker it has been a good while since I visited and asked for help.
Kappy, I didn't understand everything - had some health issues thus, I couldn't followup?
I have finally installed my Seagate internal, thus my return visit.
I have just installed a Seagate Barracuda 7200, 120 GB HDD. I've made it my master drive. I've partitioned it into four parts. 1) for OS 10.2, 2) for 10.3, 3) for 10.4 and 4) for OS 9. I have not yet put it to use. I made my original Deskstar 40GB the slave, it has three partitions. 1) for 10.2, 2) for OS 9 and legacy 3rd party apps and 3) for photos and videos. I also have an Maxtor One-Touch II External 300 GB FW for backup. Long story - it has 4 partitions, 1) 10.2, 2) 10.3 and .4, 3) for video and photo storage and 4) for OS 9.
    I have several questions.
    1) How many copies of OS 10.2.8 can I have on any one drive - is my Seagate and my Deskstar now considered to be one drive?
1b) Can I have OS 10.2.8 (on both? of them)?
1c) Can I have 10.2.8 on that/both of those drives without causing conflicts or any other problems?
    2) I've been reading through the discussions to see if I could find an answer to any of these questions. What I did find was several different topics that include references about not partitioning new drives.
2a) What are the advantages to partitioning and what are the potential problems/disadvantages created by partitioning a new HDD?
2b) Isn't it necessary to partition a HDD if I'm going to have 10.2, 10.3(maybe), 10.4 and OS 9 all on the same HDD?
2c) Aren't there going to be conflicts especially because of OS 9 and 10.4 being on the same partition?
I will appreciate all replies, corrections, suggestions and requests for clarifications and/or request for additional info.
    Thanks,
    J Ivan
P.S. I'm now going to bed and I won't be back on-line until late this afternoon.

You cannot have more than one copy of OS X on a single volume (partition), but you can install any number of versions of OS X on separate volumes (partitions.)

2a) What are the advantages to partitioning and what are the potential problems/disadvantages created by partitioning a new HDD?
There are no inherent advantages to partitioning in general except that it may provide a convenient means for organization. However, if you desire to install multiple operating systems, partitioning is necessary to keep each OS separate and to enable you to use OPTION booting. The exception to this is installing OS X and OS 9 on the same volume.
2b) Isn't it necessary to partition a HDD if I'm going to have 10.2, 10.3(maybe), 10.4 and OS 9 all on the same HDD?
    Yes. See previous answers.
2c) Aren't there going to be conflicts especially because of OS 9 and 10.4 being on the same partition?
No. And there would be no problems having OS 9 and 10.4 on the same volume. If they are on the same volume you simple cannot use OPTION booting to switch between them.

I received LR 5 for Christmas but have not downloaded it yet on my computer. I have had LR 3 for about 4 years.  I am due to buy a new computer soon but need to know how many licenses/downloads I will get before downloading LR 5 on my current computer.  I may also purchase a laptop in the next year so that would require 3 licenses altogether (current iMac, future iMac, future macbook).

    You have one license.
You can download and install it on an infinite number of computers, as long as it is only installed on two of your computers at any one time, and in use on only one computer at any given time.
So in your case, current iMac, that's would mean its installed on one computer, no problem. Future iMac and future MacBook ... so if you uninstall from current iMac and install on Future iMac and future MacBook, it's now installed on two computers at a time, no problem, as long as you're not using Lightroom on both simultaneously. And if after that, you got two new computers and uninstalled Lightroom from the previous two, you're still good, it's only installed on two computers at any one time.

  • I had a power mac g4 into which i put 3, 320 gb PATA hard drives in a raid slice config so that it worked as one drive needless to sat that i lost the g4 to a surge but the drives are good. now i have an imac, how can i recover the info off those drives

i had a power mac g4 into which i put 3, 320 gb PATA hard drives in a raid slice config so that it worked as one drive needless to sat that i lost the g4 to a surge but the drives are good. now i have an imac, how can i recover the info off those drives. can i put the drives in external cases and plug them all in, will the imac see them as a raid slice then  help please

    Before you have another accident:
Buy a UPS of good quality and sufficient to your needs.
I would have to assume that the drives were connected to a PCI PATA card, hopefully. Otherwise, well RAID and having drives on the same bus (master and slave).
And no backup, none at all...
Get your hands on a G4.
Data Rescue 3 from Prosoft maybe.
If they were SATA and running on PCI SATA controller, very popular and common really in G4s, more options would be open.

    Hi,
As the previous comment says, CE1XXXX, CE2XXXX, CE3XXXX and CE4XXXX are created. But this is if you are using Costing-based profitability analysis, However, if you're using account-base PA then no tables are created and CPEP, COSP, COSS and other standard CO tables are used.

  • HT201257 I have an iMac (Mid 2007) upgraded to Lion OS. My fan runs all the time at high speed. I tried the SMT reset without results. I could not try the AHT test because it is not on my computer or install disk. Any suggestions what I can do to correct

I have an iMac (Mid 2007) upgraded to Lion OS. My fan runs at high speed all the time. I reset the SMT without results. I had no way to do the hardware test.
Can I fix this high fan speed?

Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu.  Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order.  If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time, then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar.  Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process.  See if that helps.  Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
If the above doesn't help then create a new user account. Log into the new account. Does this fix the problem?

  • I have an IMAC and purchased OS X Lion to upgrade from the APP store, and launched the software for downloading, and I have been waiting on this for an hour, and it still says it's downloading? What do I do next?

I have an IMAC and purchased OS X Lion to upgrade from the APP store, and launched the software for downloading, and I have been waiting on this for an hour, and it still says it's downloading? What do I do next?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The OS X Lion installer takes more than 4 GB of space, so it is normal for most Internet connections to take the download more than an hour.
If you want to see the download progress, open the Mac App Store and go to Purchases.
Before upgrading, make a backup of your files with Time Machine and check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com

  • How many iphone 4's will each store have on 6/24?

Just wondering because I preordered mine at best buy on 6/15 and the store clerk told me I was preorder #15. Do you think I will receive my phone on 6/24? Any info on how many iphones each store will have?
I figure I should be okay, since half of those 15 are probably for the 16gb and some white models. I ordered the black 32gb. Just figured I'd ask.

I figured nobody would really know for sure. I'm wondering if anyone remembers how many 3g's were available in-store on launch day last year. It would provide an estimation for this year I guess.
I figure I should be able to pick up my phone on 6/24. Best Buy should carry at least 20-30 one would think.(I'm #15)
There are a bunch of walmarts, best buys, an at&t and apple store with 15 miles of my house. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or bad when it comes to how many iphones will be available in each store.

  • I have an iMac with a Magic Mouse, if I want to upgrade my iMac to the OS X Lion, will I have to buy a Magic Trackpad?

I have an iMac with a Magic Mouse, if I want to upgrade my iMac to the OS X Lion, will I have to buy a Magic Trackpad?

Expanding on what Barry said, Lion includes features specifically for trackpads, but it's by no means necessary to have one. A Magic Mouse will work just fine (as will any other mouse or trackball).

You need to either buy and install Mac OS X 10.8 from the Mac App Store, or purchase an iWork 09 DVD, or use a product such as OpenOffice instead of Keynote.

  • IMac 27 inch i7 OSX Lion will not boot up from Hard Disc

iMac 27 inch i7 OSX Lion will not boot up from Hard Disc on cold start, and cannot find wifi hardware in the machine.   Restart and everything is fine.   I have two machine and they behave the same.   Software or hardware problem?

First of all, try a hard restart; making sure no disks are in the slot, unplug everything from your computer (keyboards, mice, etc.) and then unplug the computer itself. Leave it unplugged for a minute or two, then plug it back in and boot it up.
If that fails, reboot it while holding down the option-key on your keyboard. The screen should show a choice of which disk drive to boot from. Choose your usual drive.
If that fails, reboot it while holding down the shift-key on your keyboard. It should take a while for it to boot up, as it is destroying all connections to sources that may contain a virus.
If that fails, reboot it while holding down keys "option-command-P-R" until you hear the startup tone a second time.
If that fails, reboot it while holding down the C-key. Make sure you have inserted the installation disk before doing this step.
If that fails, reboot it while holding down the command-key and the R-key.
If that fails, please reply to this and let me know.

  • How many tempdb mdb files will be created in this case?

How many tempdb mdb files will be created in this case?
SQL Server detected 2 sockets with 6 cores per socket and 12 logical processors per socket, 24 total logical processors; using 24 logical processors based on SQL Server licensing. This is an informational message; no user action is required.
I have sql server 2012 enterprise edition 64 bit
    Thanks

Its all upto your server usage and number of processors,
Note : If the number of logical processors is greater than 8, use 8 data files and then if contention continues, increase the number of data files by multiples of 4 (up to the number of logical processors) until the contention is reduced
to acceptable levels or make changes to the workload/code.
For optimal performance, you could add data files of the same size to tempdb up
to the # of processors on your server. So a 4 processor server should have 4
same-sized physical files for tempdb for optimal tempdb performance. The reason
you want the files to be the same size is because SQL Server tries to keep the
files filled to the same proportion. So if you had a 100MB file and a 200MB
file, SQL Server will try to keep them at the same fill level, for example 50%,
which means that the 200MB file will be written to approximately twice as much
as the 100MB file which reduces the performance gained by having multiply
    files.
