Have a new nano 6th generation and the right hand swipe to return back nor rotation of screen works.what do i do ?

Have got a nano 6th generation ipod . the right hand swipe fuction to rerturn to home screen doesnt work, nor does the rotation . Think its been set up wrong but we cant get to the settingsto check, how do we get the ipod to work?

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

I just got myself an ipod nano 6th gen like in july and i love it. But i have been trying to download the update and it always says there is a error- the internet connection timed out yet i can be doing other stuff with the internet at that time, Facebooking, downloading, watching videos so it's not the internet and this has happened alot.
When i first got my ipod, I was using a windows machine now i have a macbook and i wonder if that could be the problem because under format on the ipod it says windows...
Has this happened to anyone else? I really need some help...
Also, I have seen alot of complaints about the software update over the internet from other ipod nano users, if there is anyone who didn't get affected please let me know, I don't want to download it to only make my ipod act up....

Your nano would really have nothing to do with it at that point. It is really something between iTunes and whatever server out there on the internet that it is trying to connect to for the update.
Try posting this one in the iTunes forum, they might have a solution for you.

Dont buy this model again, this is the most common problem and i have gone through 4 of these 6th gen nanos all with the same problem. You can find youtube videos that show you how to fix it yourself but you run the risk of breaking your ipod, also opening the ipod voids any warrently.

I have the iPod nano 6th generation, and I have had it since Christmas 2011 so it isn't that old; recently I went to listen to my music and found that the volume increase button is stuck (basically it's like when you press the volume button down to increase the volume, except it is stuck down like that and won't come back up) but it was only stuck about 3/4 of the way down. For about a week this was ok, I just had to press the button harder to make it go down and increase the volume, but now it won't increase the volume at all and it feels and looks as though the button is stuck the whole way in, even when I press the button with some force. This happened to me a few weeks ago. Instead of taking it to the Apple store and paying $ the 99 service charge ( I did give Apple 139.00 13 months ago! for this ipod), I saturated the end of a q-tip w/ WD 40 and carfefully rubbed around the perimeter of the power button. I waited a half hour and then cleaned of the excess WD 40. This unstuck my power button. I guess the WD 40 dissovled all the dirt under and around (also the consrtuction of the buttons is done w/ double sided tape-- maybe a design issue) the button. I recently purchased the new nano (7th generation) and I love it except for one issue. On my old 2nd generation nano, when I played podcasts, it would play podcasts one at a time. So if I had 20 episodes of a podcast on the device, it would stop at the end of each one.
With the new nano, I can select and play a podcast, but when it’s over, it goes straight to the next one without prompting. It keeps on playing all of the episodes of any podcast until you stop it manually. Setting the repeat function differently does not prevent episodes from being played automatically.
This can be very irritating when I only want to listen to one podcast. I’ve often fallen asleep listening to one episode of a podcast, only to be woken up hours later by the iPod working its way through all subsequent episodes. It is also annoying that any podcast which has started automatically in this way is marked as ‘played’ – even if you stop it within a few seconds. This makes it hard to keep track of what you have actually listened to.
Is there any way to set the iPod to play all the podcasts individually? I have read the User Guide from cover to cover, and can’t find a way of doing this.

I tried all the steps to reset my nano 6th generation and it still won't turn on. I've had this since February and just started having problems about a week ago after I charged it. Now I can sometimes get it to turn on but mostly it just stays off, I can't even reset it with it plugged in. I have noticed that it get really warm to the touch when it's plugged in and if I let it cool down I might have some luck but soon I have the same problems.

For anyone following, I looked further into the tape cassette adapter and it seems to get the best reviews vs. FM transmitter. Guess there is a good reason that I have the last year model with a tape cassette. Worth mentioning is the Maxell one gets a better review than the Monter one. Not sure why, but it's cheaper. I was thinking that you may need to reset the iPod Nano, outlined here How to reset iPod http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1320.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and Volume Down button simultaneously for at least eight seconds or until the Apple logo appears. You may need to repeat this step.
If the above step did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep. Try resetting the iPod while it is connected to power.
If that doesn't quite get the iPod going again, then it will need to be restored. Use this article to help with that Restoring iPod to factory settings http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1339.
