Have Airport Connectivity issue
Hi peoples,
Picked up my 17" back in September, no real issues. For about 5 months i've had a wireless network in my house and no problems to report either.
That was until a couple days ago. For the past few days, my PB has trouble connecting to the network. It keeps telling me "None of your trusted .... would you like to connect to the network known as ..."
I click "YES" and it just tells me 'TRY AGAIN"
I'll keep clicking try again, to no avail...and sometimes it just won't connect at all..and other times, if I leave the PB open after about 5 minutes it detects it.
I'm at a loss as to what the problem could be. Obviously the PB is detecting the signal, it just can't always connect.
Anyone have any clue as to why it would be doing this?
Thanks
P.S...i've tried clearing the ram, shutting down, etc... and sometimes it works, other times it doesn't, and i've also used macjanitor to clean things up and I have 50 gigs free space, although I doubt any of that would be of issue.
Have you unplugged your airport from power and let it come back to the steady green light?
Also, when airport has its steady green light, try . . .
Go to System Preferences, then select "network," then select "airport" if needed to get to the airport screen with the "trusted networks." Select your network if it's not on your "trusted" list. You'll need to remember what kind of security you used (if any) as well as your password.
Good luck!

Persistent WiFi/AirPort connectivity issues
If anyone has any input that could help me or perhaps reduce my ignorance, it would be much appreciated.
My Black MacBook has had persistent wireless connectivity issues since I purchased it almost 2 years ago. Even when it shows 3 or 4 bars in my AirPort preferences, it has rather slow page-loading abilities.
For some reason, if I keep selecting my preferred network from my AirPort menu (even when it has NOT dropped the network), that tends to speed up my page load rapidly, but only for a couple of seconds.
It fares a little better when connected directly with Ethernet, but still pretty poor, to the point that I am often mocked by my PC-using friends.
Is there a software update I need? Or a network accessory I can purchase? Or can I replace my built-in wireless card? I am open to anything at this point. Thanks in advance,
K.

Message was edited by: newtomac1553Have you tried connecting directly to your router with an Ethernet cable to see if wired performance is significantly better than wireless? I don't see any other inexpensive solutions.
Spending several hundred dollars or more to upgrade your home router and adding RAM and a new hard drive two-year-old computer is certainly cheaper than buying a new computer outright, but it DOES NOT give you any guarantee of the faster online and video performance you seek.
An 802.11 'n' router (with a gigabit wired connections) would probably help connection speed, IF you have a high-speed internet provider with one of the faster DSL or cable services. The fastest 'n' routers provide up to 300Mbit/sec transfer rates, compared with 54Mbit rates for most of the 'b/g' routers, and some higher-end routers (like the Apple AirPort Extreme) support dual band MIMO for multiple simultaneous connections by the same computer, which provides a potential for greater performance. Stop by an Apple store and ask for a demonstration _with your MacBook_ to see if you experience a enough difference to justify the expenditure.
You have to click the "triangle" after the Intel ICH8-M AHCI to see the detailed drive information dropdown. You seem to have plenty of hard drive space available, but I'm guessing you have a 5400 rpm drive. Upgrading to a 7200 rpm drive would help overall system performance some with faster read and write times, but you really don't need extra space at the moment.
Upgrading to 4Gb RAM could also help if you run lots of programs simultaneously, but might not provide noticeable gains for browsing and online video, since you're already at 2Gb.
Of course there is not an upgrade to the GMA 3100 chipset and 144Mb of video ram. It is better than my GMA 950 with 64Mb, but not as good as newer/faster/better MacBook and MacBook Pro models with faster microprocessors and more sophisticated nVidia video chipsets from Apple. -
I got my mac pro in the middle of August. School started the week after. Internet was working perfectly fine at home. But at school, I never had a good connection. Sometimes on the good days I get a connection when I'm sitting at the exact spot in class I always sit at. It's ridiculous and it's frustrating. I invested my money into this laptop and I'm beginning to regret it. I thought it was the school's Internet, but I don't see Internet issues with other PC users. It's most frustrating on registration days and I'm trying to register for my classes before it gets taken, but again... Internet connection issues. It's random. Majority of the time, it doesn't work at all. I've done Network Diagnosis and turning WiFi off then turning it on again. I've done everything I could. I put my money on this laptop and it was a lot of money. I could have bought an 800 dollars laptop and I would have Internet connection anywhere on campus. So, I don't want to continue everyday to regret on buying this laptop every time I try to connect to the Internet at school or Starbucks or anywhere else. How do I fix this? What's the problem ?
At school, I heard this guy had a problem with Internet connections too and he owned a new mac book pro. He said something like Apple messed up on something, but he fixed it. If I knew mac book pro's had these issues I wouldn't have bought it in the first place. It's freezing on me every other day. It's ridiculous. But what concerns me the most is the Internet connection. So someone please tell me what can I do next to prevent the problem? Am I doing something wrong maybe?Hi Kevin,
I'm using an XLR input mic which is connected to the phantom power enabled XLR mic socket on a USB M-Audio M-Track. The M-Track is connected by USB to the Mac Pro - so effectively I've got an M-Audio USB soundcard with a mic input. I've also tried a microphone that is a straight XLR to USB cable (guessing with some soundcard chip buried in the usb plug) but that also yields the same effect of bad latency, intermittent quality, stuttering and repeating and echoing (without the speakers on during record so its not feedback).
The mic works absolutely fine with other recording applications I have on the mac at the moment - albeit non-adobe ones (tested it on the EasyAudioRecorder - and it lives up to its name. it's easy)
I will try with Audition and report back, but sitting here right now I can imagine it would work fine with audition too - it just seems to be the way premiere is set up for recording into the timeline is a bit sketchy. I'm willing to accept it might well be a quirk with the new Mac Pro trashcan - I'm not weighting all the woes on premiere.
Any thoughts or am I out of luck to sit with my fingers crossed for a fix in the next round of updates?
Nathan. -
Not sure if this is the best place for this, but I'm having an odd issue.
My airport seems stuck on a set IPv4 address.
Here's what happened.
I'm on the road, yesterday I connect wirelessly in an airport (a physical airport, you know, with airplanes and bad food, etc.). Everything is fine.
Last night I arrive in a new town and at two different locations today, I cannot connect via Airport/wirelessly.
I believe I've narrowed it down to a specific problem. Which is that I can't get my TCP/IP setting off a certain IPv4 address.
I think this is part of the problem because I've found when I directly plug into a router, via ethernet I'm OK (though I tried that last night and it didn't work at a different location).
But the bottom line is, other Macs at this location work just fine, mine can't connect and I'm having trouble figuring out why.
I've tried to change the IPv4 address manually, but that still doesn't seem to get it done either.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.I have found that the one wireless server does not give my Powerbook the DNS servers. When I put in the DNS servers from my ipod touch it works just fine.
My New question is why does my Powerbook not get the DNS servers while my ipod touch does? -
Hi,
I have a 24" iMac (2.8 C2D), just recently i'm getting an issue with the airport failing to connect to the wireless router when the machine is first booted up. If i then turn the Airport off and back on again it connects straight away and I have no more problems till the next time I reboot.
I only have the one router listed in the connection list.
Can anyone shed any light as to why this is happening and how to fix it?
Thanks,
KamSometimes my iPad or iPhone just don't see the network but I restart them. That was just something I wanted to share but do you have any other wireless devices such as your home phone? Disconnect all of them and see if your Mac can connect automatically. If it works then see if can change the frequency of the other devices or if you can't do that or you don't have a clue what I am on about use the Airport utility and find the option which will fix although you do get slower connection as a consequence

Since updating to ios 8.0.2 I have bluetooth connectivity issues
I updated my new iPhone 6 to IOS 8.0.2 on Thursday. I have no problems with BT connectivity to speakers or my Bose headset but it will no longer connect to my Mini Cooper's BT system. Anybody else having a problem?
My issue is that my calendar icon is blank, when I press the Safari icon nothing happens. I don't have a settings icon, I have to spot search and it appears. no health icon, etc. I know I have an internet connections because when I click my CNN app, it opens. Luckily, I chose Blackberry for my business phone, otherwise I would probably be fired.

My macbook 10.5.8 is having airport connectivity issues
I have a macbook 10.5.8 with intel core 2 duo. Everytime i log in, my internet works for 2 seconds, and then i automatically get switched to a guest wifi network from my neighbor. Which doesn't even work. When i try to connect to my network, it continually says connection timeout. This has been happening for over 3 years. I have restored my router AND my modem to factory settings, but it still doesn't work. If i turn off airport, it works again for 2 secs. then goes back to not working. I really need help. please contribute, thank you.
It depends on your Macbook model how to open the bottom case.
Anyway you need to open up the buttom case or keyboard panel to access the CPU fan like following.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hHA4DDEvZA
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/MacBook+Core+2+Duo+Lower+Case+Replacement/537
If you think you can't do that by yourself, you'd better bring it to Apple Store Genius Bar or Authorized Servce Shop to tell them about the problem. -
I have constant connectivity issues with Safari but not if I use Chrome. Why is this?
My wifi is connected yet when I launch Safari, I constantly receive error messages about connectivity yet if I launch Chrome instead, I have no problems. Do I just not use Safari or is there a way to fix this? Thanks!
Go step by step and test.
1. Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly. It will take a while.
Restart the computer.
Start up in Safe Mode.

Jetpack LTE and older imac w/airport connection issue
Hello,
I get an error message when trying to login to jetpack lte with an older imac G4 OSX 10.4.11 via the airpot card. Can I disable WEB security on this unit to bypass the WEP security password issue? I can login onto this unit with my Macbook Pro no problem.
This is my mom's computer and I am trying to help her out. It is her only means of internet where she lives.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
MartenMarten,
If you disable WEP from the MiFi you will disable security for everyone and leave your device open and vulnerable to moochers. I do not suggest opening your connection up to the world as anyone who connects without your consent will hold you liable for thier data usage.
Instead, a better technique would be to change the password type from WEP to WPA or preferrably WPA2. The newer security types will be more secure than WEP anyways and should always be used whenever possible.
Regardless, the steps to change your password to disabled or another type are all the same. Test them out and choose which ever option will work the best for you. See the MiFi 890L User Guide for more details:
http://cache.vzw.com/multimedia/mim/vzw_890_jetpack/eufi_890_manual.pdf
To change the MiFi 890L Security Type:
1. Connect a computer to the MiFi
2. Navigate to 192.168.1.1 or http://vz.hotspot
3. Sign into the MiFi with the admin password printed on the back of the device
4. Navigate to WiFi Settings > Security
5. Change the Security Type
6. Confirm and record your wirelss password in the Password field (this will change from type to type)
7. Click Apply -
Wi-Fi Airport Connectivity Issues
I recently returned back to school this week and my wifi was working properly, i logged into the school network yesterday and i received a message from my Norton Anti-virus software saying "ARP Cache Poisoning." Since yesterday i can no longer access the schools wireless network nor connect to it through a hardline. I have the previous generation MacBook Pro 15" basic configuration running 10.5.8. Any thoughts or suggestions to help me resolve my problem and connect to the network and gain access the the internet would be greatly appreciated.
Any thoughts or suggestions to help me resolve my problem
Get rid of Norton before doing further troubleshooting. It's caused more problems that benefits for most Mac users. It's hard to suggest other steps until Norton's madness is out of the picture.
Check to see it there is an uninstall package in the Norton folder. NAV sticks files in several different places so a manual removal may not get all the minions.
Once NAV is out of the picture, restart the computer and see if it works.
Awaiting your next post,

2Wire + Airport Connection issue (Help wanted)
Hello All,
I use a 2Wire HomePortal router to connect to my DSL service, and it works very well with our old PC and my iMac G5 (both ethernet and wireless). I purchased my new MacBook in August, and It connected well to the 2wire network, until two days ago. Right now, all I can connect to with the HomePortal router is via ethernet, which works fine. When I attempt to connect by wireless, I recieve the message "There was an error connecting to 2wire*" It's WEP passcoded, but I already know that I need to put a $ in front of the passkey, so I doubt that's the problem. Also, I can connect to other wireless networks, so I know it isn't a general AirPort problem.
Thanks so much for your help!
-BelrilI'm not sure how helpful this may be, but I also use a 2WIRE router/modem for my DSL connection. I initially had problems with it and here are the thide ngs that I did to get the connection to work:
1. Reset the router (I unplugged it and plugged it back in after about 30 seconds)
2. Made sure that I used the right version of WEP on the AirPort. I had to use the hex key choice to get it to connect.
After that all was well.
Good luck... -
Two Macbooks, same spec, yet one has major connectivity issues
Hi,
I have two (old - 2006) macbooks, bought at exactly the same time, exactly the same spec, probably off the same factory line. Yet one has serious Airport issues which are proving very difficult.
It will pick up a maximum of one wireless network, which it barely is able to connect to. There are 3 wireless networks in this house yet it only picks up the nearest one. The other macbook can pick up at least 15 other networks despite being exactly the same spec and on the desk next to it.
Even when it connects to my network, connections are frequently dropped - over 50% packet loss generally.
Both are running the same OS and are exactly the same spec. I have tried resetting the PRAM, deleting the airport prefs, resetting the SMC; you name it I've tried it. I noticed that this is quite a common issue with Snow Leopard + Airport, but I am now thinking it could be a faulty Airport card. Could this be the case? You already mentioned that you thought that "it could be a faulty AirPort card". I agreed and offered another possibility as well.
Whether or not you are using Snow Leopard, if you have a faulty wireless card or a faulty antenna connector, you will most certainly have major connectivity issues.
You've already performed all the standard troubleshooting steps and mentioned that you felt it may be a hardware issue.
If you have changed your mind and feel that it's a Snow Leopard issue, (logic would dictate that it would have also affected your other identical computer the same way) you have the option of reinstalling the operating system to see if that might help. -
After reinstalling Windows Server 2008 R2 EE my SQL 2008 R2 Sp2 Instances have some connection issues.
The server were installed under the same hostname, but he got a new sid in my active directory.
On the server there one DB Engine MSSQLSERVER, two named Reporting Services for MS crm 4.0 and SCOM and one Analysis Services Instance.
The DB Engine will collect Data from another DB, before writing to Analysis Services.
Here are the problems on the server:
When I connect via SSMS remotly, I sometimes get this error: Failed to connect to server <hostname> ... Named Pipes Provider, error 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server - Error 5
Both RS Instances have many event log errors like "Report Server (Instance) cannot connect to the report server database.". RS Reports are working fine, but sometimes the rendering is taking a long
time.
The DB Engine Agent Job to collect Data sometimes throw the following error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 10.0" Hresult:
0x80004005 Description: "Unable to complete login process due to delay in opening server connection". End Error Error: 2013-12-10 06:03:40.41 Code: 0xC00291EC
User use Excel to connect to the Cube on my server. Often they got timeout errors. When they connect again it will work.
Are there any solutons on this?
Thanks a lot!Hello,
The server were installed under the same hostname, but he got a new sid in my active directory.
Did you connect to SQL Server instance with Windows authentication? Since the SID of domain account is changed, the SQL Server instace may cannot verify the login account which stored in the master with old SID. In that case, please try to connect
SQL Server with SQL authentication and then readd the domian as login the instance.

HP Slate 21 Pro: WiFi connection issues
Hi,
I recently ordered two HP Slate 21 Pro devices. Unfortunately, both of them have WiFi connection issues. After some time the properly configured WiFi connection will be dropped, which results in connectionless devices. The WiFi AP is disabled after this, and so a timed reconnect will not succeed.

ChristianThat really shouldn't affect it.
I'm a little stumped because I haven't seen this issue with this device before. The only similar issue I found was this, and it's unresolved.
Have you tried doing a hard reboot of the Slate 21?

DAC Server to DB Server Connection issue on Solaris 10
Hi,
I have a connection issue that has me completely miffed as to what is going on.
We have a Oracle DAC Server running on Solaris 10 that connects to the DAC repository inside a database on another host also running on Solaris 10. When I try and build a DAC execution plan I get an error where I unable to complete the build due to by repository connection being lost. Looking at the DAC logs you can see multiple entries of
32231 INFO Tue Oct 15 10:04:05 BST 2013 CONNECTION_ISSUE Repository ending polling
32232 INFO Tue Oct 15 10:09:05 BST 2013 CONNECTION_ISSUE Repository ending polling

Then eventually you see connection lost.
When I check the DB host using dmesg I notice the following entry over and over
Oct 15 11:00:53 v10emsu101 nxge: [ID 339653 kern.notice] NOTICE: nxge3: xcvr addr:0x0a - link is up 1000 Mbps full duplex

There is no entry for the link going down just up all the time. The timing in the logs match with the DAC logs which makes my think this is where the issue may lie.
