Have an item pause before final motion...
Is it possible to have an object pause for a bit before it starts it's final motion when using scroll motion?
There is currently no way to introduce a pause in animation over time during a continuous scroll. However, you can achieve similar effect by using anchor links and navigating to the position using the anchor which stops the scroll (and thus animation) once it has reached a specific point in scroll.

First of all, why did you say yes to Nero Back up before researching what it does with files already on the HDD? When I install Nero, the Back Up is the first thing I disable, it is a nagging pain, there are much better backup programs available. There are several file recovery programs out there to recover deleted files, that is, if that is what happened. Also, if you haven't overwritten the files, so you should be able to find them.

I have edited a movie in Final Cut Pro and the video has been smooth all the time.
Now, when the one hour long movie is ready the video seem to paus every 5 sec (only for half a second). It does it all the way through the movies.
What is wrong? All the sudden.We need info, info, info!
What version of FCP X?
Did you render? what are the project specs? do you use many compound clips? how much ram, hard drive space, how is the hard drive connected?
It looks like your mac can't keep up. Maybe the bottleneck is the hard drive, or something else.
Try exporting a master file and see if the video is ok.
Also, keep Activity Monitor open and see how much memory pressure you've got. -
I have an academic version of Final Cut Studio on my laptop and recently purchased the most recent Full version of Final Cut Studio. Do I need to uninstall the academic version before installing the new version? I ask because this is not an upgrade, but a completely new version.
I'm with Jim on this. It always seems to work out better if you do not install over another version. You can use this app (freeware - thanks to Jon Chappel) to completely remove ALL Final Cut Studio apps and components: http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcsremover/
Once that's done, install your newly purchased version.

I am trying to download photos from my camera to iphoto on my mac book (which I have done many times before). This time I am getting an alert that saysThe photo “IMG_5965.JPG” could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found. How can I fix this?

Parallax Scrolling - Final Motion - Stopping
Hi,I'm new to Parallax motion. I have viewed a lot of videos on this scroll effects and struggling to understand how to get a "group items" to scroll in from a certain location and STOP as the end user keeps scroling further down the page.
Is this not correct. You would set a 0 Final Motion in both area?
When I do this a preview my page the "Group Item" keeps moving down the page as I scroll downward.

Should I delete the motion 4 library before installing motion 5?
I just got a new Mac Pro with Yosemite on it, and I just installed FCP 7 last night, and when I tried to launch Motion, I discovered that Motion 4 won't run on Yosemite. I'm a little puzzled about why the installer still let me install it -- I thought the installer is supposed to check to see if the software is compatible with my system? -- but no matter. I see that the new version of Motion is fairly inexpensive, so I'll just go with that. My question is, can Motion 5 use any of the Motion 4 content that the FCP 7 installer put on my system? It does take up a huge amount of space on my SSD, and if it's not usable, I'd just as well delete it before installing Motion 5. Thanks.
Most of the Library content is the same. If you plan to convert/upgrade older templates from earlier versions of Motion (and I believe Motion 5 will at least open Motion 2 projects correctly) you should keep your old Library content around, even if it's redundant.
There are a few filters that aren't around anymore in Motion 5. In order to get them into M5, you'll need to open a project that was created in Motion 4 that used the filters, then drag the filter (from the layers list) into the Library > Favorites section (if they still work in Motion 5). [Two specific filters that come to mine are Primatte RT (if you don't want to have to convert Keyed content) and the Displace filter (which has been replaced by Bump Map.) There may be a few others, and for awhile Droste was one, but that has since ceased to operate in newer versions of Motion 5.]
If you had 3rd party content like freebie generators from idustrial revolution (World and Coverflux still work in M5 that you manually installed, you'll want to copy those over as well (most of them still work in M5.)
After you've finished updating older projects and moving items specific to Motion 4 over into Motion 5 (via Favorites), then you can delete the old Library content. -
Finale motion start position (delaying)
I am experimenting with the scroll motion. I'm wondering is there a way to put a delay on the final motion or specify the key frame where the finale motion is to start? I am trying to have an image broken up in a puzzle to come together from all over the screen then stay together a while before "falling up". I can think of a way around it duplicating all the components and have 2 sets and use the opacity to switch hide the original set and bring the duplicate one but just seems like it would be much easier if there was a way to control the start position of the finale motion.
The only way to achieve this would be to have two versions and have them swap. at the trigger point, like you said. Other than that, you would need to create custom code.

Are you trying to update your iPhone using iTunes on your computer? If so, did you make purchases through the iTunes Store or App Store on your iPhone, and fail to sync them with your computer? That is the likely meaning of what you are seeing. If this is true, the purchases would be added to iTunes in your computer before the upgrade proceeds. -
Subject : Slideshow looks bad

I have a project in my Final Cut just about done. I want to add my slideshow as part ofthe project and burn it to DVD. Inmy slideshow, there are some stills from the movie clips and some downloadedfrom the internet but they all look blur when playback and even worse if Iapply Ken Burn to it. The entire DVD containing Quick Time movies (Final CutExpress project) and slideshow was done in iPhoto. The Final Cut project was rendered prior to export to QT, the slideshow was sent to iDVD withoutrendering. The slideshow with most of the pictures from my still camera incombination with stills from movie clips and some downloaded from the Internet.After burning, the movie playback is perfect but the slideshow is not. The slideshow containing 3 differentkinds of pictures; those from my still camera looks OK; the stills from themovie clips and from the Internet are not. I don’t have much knowledge in this game, but I think NTSCwith frame size 720x480, and the downloaded picture Item Property shows most ofthem are between 400 to 500 x 300 to 600, may be both of them are not suitablefor TV screen while the stills from my still camera looks OK because they are2048x1536. Can I not to display the Group1 field in the final output(but the field should be present in the .rtf file).

Essbase error msg while using Excel add-in: data item found before member
We're encountering an Essbase error message "data item found before member" on 2 of 4 cubes. Has anyone else encountered this msg, and does anyone have an idea how to resolve it. It occurs on multiple machines in development and testing environments.
As dougadams said, some members can be converted by Excel so that essbase no longer treats them as labels. Typically this includes numeric member names (i.e. accounts) and dates. I find the dates to be more of an issue than numeric member names, because it typically changes the date format as well. Either way, using a single quote as a prefix to the member name will tell Excel to treat it as a text entry, and hence a member/label to Essbase.The above is almost always the reason for the error you got. Of course, it's also possible that you really do have a numeric entry somewhere before your first 'data cell' in the template, especially if you did some manipulation of the template.

Are there any good DVD authoring programs for Mac now that Apple has discontinued DVD Studio and iDVD? I need to make DVDs that have interactive menus and such (Final Cut X and Compressor 4's DVD option is a little cheap and doesn't provide any kind of professional DVD authoring). Any ideas?
This comes up a lot these days.
Practically speaking, there are really four options for the Mac platform: Toast (<$100), Adobe Premier Productiom ($1,600 to buy or $50/month to rent), find a copy of Final Cut Studio from 3rd party (+/- $1,000 new) or a boxed edition of iLife to get iDVD ($50 - $90 on Amazon new).
The other question everyone has is how many OS versions before iDVD or FCS breaks? No one knows, but Apple has said they're no longer supporting these legacy apps. Of course, no one is mandated to upgrade to a new OS unless they buy a new computer. So if it works on a system, stay with it as long as it makes sense.

Hi guys, I really need help trying to figure out why Final Cut Pro will not allow me to export my project. I have done this in the past and had no problems at all with other projects, and I have done nothing different from what i can tell. Any help???

Thankyou for your help. No, I have done this and it does not work. I have tried clicking and dragging, selecting the file in the project library, selecting individual files etc etc etc. The only thing that may have helped me out was last night...I clicked on a tab in FCP on the far right side (that must have something to do with exporting as well) and a small screen popped up after clicking it stating i cannot export the file while it is still referencing media off of the camera. I dont understand this either? I do have to have my camera connected before FCP will RECOGNIZE the media clips, but they have all been imported to my external hard drive and once i click import from camera, it is complete within seconds, so the hundreds of video clips i am using are obviously saved on there somewhere already....im at a loss here as to what to do. Do i have to literally download ALL MEDIA in each project to my computers hard drive before final cut pro will allow me to export any of the projects i create?? This seems like such backward thinking...I dont have nearly enough room on my computers intenal memory to do this with all my video clips!!! -

on my opening web page, I have 2 jpgs that I want to fade into view on load--first one, then the other.
I can make them both fade in using the fade command in the behaviors menu. BUT--what I really want is for the page to load blank, pause for 2 seconds before the first image fades in, pause again for about 3 seconds before the next image fades into view. 2 images, 2 pauses, 2 fade-ins. Is there some easy code to create the pauses before the fade-ins for each image? (I'm working in DW CS5 on a mac) thx for whatever you can offer.Adjust the following values to suit
