Have an unlimited plan, thinking of upgrading phone.

I have a 3 phone family plan. All 3 were on a family unlimited data plan, but I did not have texting. Only had imessaging. Current plans are listed below.
1. unlimited iphone 4 (no texting)
2. unlimited iphone 4 (no texting)
3. 2gb data plan iphone 4s (but no texting other than imessaging) This phone was upgraded and I was forced to picked a data plan. It was removed from my unlimited plan. But they did not give us texting on this phone with the new plan.
I am thinking about upgrading to the new HTC ONE on phone number 1. Will I get unlimited texting with the new data plan that I pick? I will lose unlimited data, because Verizon is forcing me to pick a data plan.
Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
CD

Hi, cadiehl
If you were changed to one of the new More Everything plans, then, in addition to the data alloted, you have unlimited phone calls and unlimited texting on that line.
Since the days of unlimited data plans have gone, it is essential to have WiFi to stream movies or music.  I totally understand that some people don't have WiFi at home due to whatever reasons.  I have no idea if you do, since you didn't say in your original post.
I think the other person in this thread who bought a Moto X at full price to keep from changing their plan and from losing unlimited data did the smart thing.  A lot of people who still have unlimited data plans are weighing the difference, the high cost of a device at full price or losing that unlimited data by taking a subsidized price on a phone.
I'm sure you will make a great choice.  Just take your time and choose wisely.  Good luck.

hello there. please help me. I thought I have made another plan for photoshop upgrading it for a lightroom package for  22, 00 reals past year and indeed I was able to download the new package.  and that the previous subscription I had for only photoshop would be automatic canceled. but looks like I have been paying for both, as get 2 receipts in my mailbox every month. one for $19,00 and another from a company called  Digital River do Brasil Ltda, um revendedor de comércio eletrônico aprovado pela Adobe.. can please put me on the right track on this one? thanks val

  • Why do I have to change plans when I upgrade my device?

I went to a Verizon store today to check out upgrade devices since I'm due in two weeks. I was told that I would also have to change my plan when I upgrade my device.... why? Never did before. I get 4gig of data for $30, why would I want to pay $70? Makes no sense to me.If that is the case, I might as well check all carriers and possibly switch.

The new pricing is to expensive. Only an idiot would pay full price for a phone. I'd rather deal with the sticky "w" on my keyboard and keep the plan I already have. I am looking at the other carriers and found T Mobile might have what I'm looking for. I can buy a phone on EBay and use it there. I don't need unlimited phone and messaging if I have to pay so much more for the same data plan I already have. I'm under $100 now, the new plan would be around $120. I pay $30 for 4G data. New packages are $70 for the same data package.

Skype has a subscription for unlimited calling to Israeli landline phones, but not for Israeli mobile phones.  Please click on the "Subscriptions" link near the bottom of this web page, then enter Israel on the next page, to see the subscription options.

  • I have the Insurance Plan..but old Phone (Samsung Saga I-770)

I've had insurance for 2 years. It looks like they don't even sell that model on the Verizon Website or store. It's been lost, will Verizon send me the exact same model  or give me a choice for replacement?

    terpsfan78 wrote:
Thx...My friend is giving me his old Palm Pre Plus. When I register that phone on the network, will my insurance plan cover that phone? Say in a few months I lose the phone. Will the insurance replace the Palm Pre Plus?
    How does that work?
No, the insurance covers only the original phone.  It will not cover the Palm Pre and will replace the original phone.  At this point it would be more cost effective to drop the insurance and save the 6 or 7 dollars a month towards a new phone.  You may also be eligible for an upgrade if you have had your current phone for 2 years....

  • Payment Plan for  Upgrade Phones

I think Verizon should have a payment plan for new upgrade phones.  I have been a long time Verizon customer and in years past when my plan would come up for a replacement phone I always choose one of the top phones and upgraded for about $50.   In today's time, due to Technology, to upgrade to say an I Phone runs around $300 by the time you get tax (CA), new charger- home and car as well as a hands free device.   To pay that Big amount the next month on my bill is the reason I am holding back getting one and I want the best because new phones are always coming out and we will have a better ones and the focus is everything going mobile.  If I could split that total into 2 payments, it would be a lot easier for me and I would be at the store tomorrow buying one.  I think Verizon should do this  because they would increase their phones sales immediately.  No Other Phone Company is doing this and they could pick up new customers from companies that do not offer this.  First to the Marketplace to do this has BIG Value.
In this Economy, Verizon could create a way to increase their sales and  a sense of Goodwill to help the consumer at the same time...Novel Idea!!!!!!

Pay for the phones and service up front or use a credit card (as SydneyK suggested) ...Verizon isn't going to finance the phone purchase. They are in the business of providing wireless service, not financing equipment purchases.
I can imagine prices would go up if they ever WERE to do this, since I'm sure there would be defaults that the rest of us would cover with increased rates. No, thanks...

  • Have 4 phones on ALLTEL Family, want to upgrade 2 to iPhone. Do we all have to switch plans? Can we stay on one bill?

    Hello,
My parents sister and I currently use the old Alltel Family National Freedom 900 plan and have four basic phones. We would like to upgrade 2 of the phones to iPhones and leave the other two phones as basic.  Do we need to change plans?  Would we need to switch all four of us to a More Everything plan?   Or is it now possible to have the two basic phones stay on the old ALLTEL plan and use More everything for the 2 smartphones/iPhones AND keep everything on one bill?
To restate slightly, can this transaction be done online, and will the website calculate the total monthly service charge per month for all 4 phones at checkout (hopefully using the 2 mentioned plans)?
So far, I've run through the process, and it looks surprisingly possible.  But I am very wary of clicking the red button without assurance. This may need to be sorted out at a store.
    Sincerely,
    Mike

It is possible but you cannot have 2 family share plans on one acct, you can do single line plans for the upgraded phones and leave the other 2 if they are on a share plan, or move all to the more everything share plan, or you could move 2 lines to a sub account so that you are under the same account but you will get 2 separate bills. I would definitely go to a store or call if that is easier for you to go over all your options, good luck :)

  • Unlimited plan users: which apps make you glad you'll still have your plan?

After Monday, Jun 7, there's going to be iPad 3G users with a true unlimited plan, and the rest who have a 2GB max (without paying overage fees)
For unlimited plan users, what apps do you use that make you thankful that you'll still have an unlimited plan? A video streaming app like Netflix? Or something else?

I have a Wifi only iPad not a 3G iPad. However, I also have an iPhone 3GS; and after the capped plans were announced I looked at my usage on the AT&T website. For me, the "app" that puts me over the top is access to 3G. I live in one of those lucky places where AT&T does not have 3G. There is also no 3G (or sometimes even AT&T) where I work and where I play most of the time. However, on occasion I go somewhere with 3G for a few days and my data usage goes way up just from web browsing, email and non-video applications (since video streaming does not work well over 3G in my experience). Extrapolating, I would definitely go over the new 2 gb cap if I had access to 3G all the time.

  • Roaming when you have unlimited plan

If you have the unlimited plan and your in the us does having roaming on do anything for you?
Are there pros and cons to having it off or on?

If you stay in the USA (your profile said you were in Minnesota) it does not really matter. However, if you go outside you may be charged for international roaming which is expensive.

  • Verizon's "Network Optimization" on 3G Unlimited Plans

I'm sure that this has probably been discussed here before, maybe numerous times since I don't frequent these boards, but since it is something that is now impacting me and since I've noticed others posting threads here and other forums about sporadically slow speeds with Verizon 3G during certain times of the day without any mention of this being the cause I thought I would share my experience with it first hand.
I just found out about it yesterday when I called Verizon to complain about the performance I've been having off and on the last few weeks during peak times of the day (Download speeds in the 100-200Kbps range) for my 3G service and what I soon found out from the rep was that in December there was a "feature" added to my account called Network Optimization which basically is a means to throttle users who have 3G Unlimited plans and use the internet in areas which they deem as being congested. Any time you go over 2GB in a past billing cycle even though your on an Unlimited plan your up for it to be added to your account.
And in a way I could understand them needing to crack down on really high users which I myself no doubt fall into on certain months since I have a Business Unlimited plan and I'm on the computer for hours every day using it with constantly refreshing websites, checking e-mails, and then downloading Windows and Mac updates and at times large files that I need. So it's nothing for me to hit 10-20GB in a month's time, especially around the holidays.
But the biggest problem that I have with it is the fact they're free to add it to your account every time you go over 2GB in a month and reside in what they consider a congested area. Because someone that is on an Unlimited plan, and especially a Business Unlimited plan, should at least be given a cap of 10-12GB before they add on this "Network Optimization" feature to throttle your speeds because they are offering 10-12GB packages to Smartphone users without adding any Network Optimization to their accounts if they reside in a congested area and those types of users are in far greater number than those of us using laptop connect plans.
But it all boils down to Verizon wanting to force the grandfathered Unlimited users into giving up their plans and signing new 2 year agreements on a more expensive tiered plan than it has anything to do with improving the network in congested areas. If they wanted to improve the network in congested areas they would be cracking down on the Smartphone users who are using mega amounts of data to constantly stream Youtube and Netflix all day but they don't. Or better yet how about spending money to upgrade the 3G towers that are congested instead of throttling your users and continually taking on more new users? Yeah like Verizon is actually going to do something like that right.
Anyways I'm a little ****** off at Verizon at the moment since this is the only internet option I have available to me out here in my rural area and I have to have it for my home business so I can't just drop them yet as much as I would like to until they absolutely force me to.
Is anyone else here facing these same troubles at the moment with your supposedly Unlimited plans and care to share your experience so far?

You missed the point of what I just said. I didn't imply that there isn't a clause there for them to be able to legally enforce bandwidth caps on the unlimited plans if they wanted to, what I said is that there is nothing fair about having a "Network Optimization" throttle added to your account each month you go past 2GB when there is no Network throttling being done to the largest percentage of users who are on Smartphones.
If Verizon is capable of offering 10-12GB packages to Smartphone users with NO throttling then why are 3G Unlimited laptop connect users including those with Business accounts that require the most bandwidth being hit at only 2GB? Why isn't the excessive usage cap at something more "fair" like 10-12GB? And why are you even needing to throttle the laptop connect users who only make up a small percentage of your customer base in terms of bandwidth used compared to the iPhone and Nexus users?
Huge difference in price paid.  Simply put the people who are paying more money are paying for their bandwidth.  Bandwidth isn't free for Verizon.  All carriers when they offered their unlimited plans they were overselling their network then realized they can't handle the capacity when devices started to get more sophisticated too quickly.
For the people that come on here and say there is no difference in computer data and phone data...  YES there is a difference.  I have personally tested it out multiple times and on a laptop I can use 5times the amount of data in the same 1 hour period than I do on my cell phone going to the same sites.  The difference is background data, and the speed(jumping between sites, tabs, and bookmarks) you can surf the web is different between the two which people ALWAYS overlook.
$60 vs $80 is not that huge of difference in price paid, what is a huge difference is 2GB and 10GB. And yes you can use far more data on a computer or laptop than a smartphone, even though laptop connect users only make up a fraction of Verizon's customer base compared to Smartphone users, but that is exactly why it is ridiculous that you try and cap Unlimited 3G desktop/laptop users at 2GB but then offer 10-12GB tiered plans to Smartphone users who aren't the ones that need it. And that is something that obviously you and Verizon are both overlooking.
Let me ask you this, do you personally have a DSL or Cable connection at home outside of your Verizon 3G/4G service? What about at work?

  • Unlimited plan - Paying Full Retail still removes features?

Got a strange question.  First some background. I have an unlimited plan that I don't ever plan to get rid of.  (Upgrade Eligible since 2011!) Its not that I really use the unlimited data as I usually less than 150MB per month, but the absolutely cheapest plan (500 MB) they want to move me to is ~$13 more per month even after my employee discount.  Moving to the recommended 2GB plan really increases the cost ofcourse.  Partially this is because we are being screwed with the changes to the employee discount (only applies to the "Data" now), but that is a topic for another thread.
Now to the question.  When attempting to just outright buy the LG G2 through the Verizon site, it isn't prompting me to change my Data plan, as it shouldn't.  But what I am curious about is why it is wanting to remove my Unlimited Mobile to Mobile and OFF Peak 7PM-6AM .  These are some pretty key features of my plan, and as far as I know they shouldn't be changing my plan.  Any clue as to why it is trying to remove these?

  • Tethering in Unlimited plan

Can someone please set the record straight: Have grandfathered unlimited plan from prior iPhone - now with iPhone 4. I cannot get a straight answer from AT&T rep.
    1) Do I have tethering available to me under unlimited? for a small fee more?
    2) Do you HAVE to downgrade to the Pro plan to get tethering?
Can I keep unlimited and just pay a bit more for tethering?
    3) Can I use on my wifi iPad via the USB?
    4) Prospect of Hotspot down the road?
    Thanks

If it's any help, I finally bit the bullet and dumped my Sierra Wireless card at $60 a month (unlimited), gave up my "grandfathered" unlimited data plan at $30 for the $25 2gb Pro Plan, and tethered my IP4 via both Bluetooth and USB (my choice) today.
I am saving $45 a month and giving up "nothing" in my opinion. My combined data consumption on both the phone and data card were never more than 800mb a month. I don't download movies, music or any other data hungry stuff when I'm not on WiFi (which doesn't eat into the data plan capacity).
With three bars, I have been getting about 1.4mps - about the same as the wireless card. My biggest fear was making and receiving calls - would they drop or disconnect like they did on the old days when I tethered my Treo 650 on the Edge network.
    Absolutely no problemo!
As Starbucks now provides FREE WiFi (since July 1) there should be plenty of Hotspots around if you are in a pinch.
The only deciding factor should be whether or not you can stay within the 2GB a month limit.

  • I just bought an iphone 4s Factory unlocked, i was wondering if the 4g network will work? cause i got unlimited plans with t-mobile. and will Siri work?

I have an unlimited plan for T-mobile and i order the iphone 4s factory unlock like a week ago. But i'm not sure if the 4s will work with the t-mobile 4g network and Siri. Can someone please help me by telling me what's will work with t-mobile and what will not work with the iphone 4s factory unlock. Thanks

well i'm not really asking which is better for travel, i'm just asking over all which phone is better for the plan i have with T-Mobile, but i'm assuming is the Galaxy s2, but the only reason y im not getting that phone is cause that phone is way too big. sigh and i really like the i4s, been using iphone before as well, so i'm kinda use to it. But i see no point of getting the I4s if i the function that came with it to make it fun doesn't work. You get what i mean?? that's y i'm asking cause i don't know anything.

  • PC Suite Upgrade : Phone (N70) not supported

    Hi
Just upgraded to latest version of PC Suite and have hit problems. Prior to upgrade phone and PC were connecting fine with no problems.
Now when establishing connection between phone and PC receive following message :'PC Suite does not support the connected phone. PC Suite settings file is missing from the the phone. Switch off your phone, switch it on, and try again.' The phone then appears to connect but none of the PC Suite offers are available, presumably as the phone is not being supported. Switching the phone off/on makes no difference.
No other changes to the phone have occurred since the connection was ok, the only change is upgrade of PC Suite.
I am running Windows XP SP2, PC Suite 6.81.13.0, connecting via cable or Bluetooth yields same result, using N70 on Vodafone firmware V 5.0609.2.0.1 01-03-06 RM-84.
Have tried completely uninstalling PC Suite and reinstalling to no avail. Wondered if I needed to upgrade the N70 firmware and attempted to use the new Software Updater but this crashed.
Quite frankly I haven't got time to mess around trying all sorts of things so any help would be much appreciated.

Hi - I have not experienced this problem before but there are things you can check to rule out certain possible causes.
From what I can remember when you upgrade PC Suite, there's an element of it which it installs onto the phone - was that done successfully ?
Also - it isn't 100% clear from your message, but I presume you're attempting to connect to PC Suite via Bluetooth - does your PC->Bluetooth work OK with other devices ?
If not this indicates you have a Bluetooth centred problem.
Next thing to check - can you connect your phone to your PC using the USB cable ? If so then this also points to a Bluetooth problem.
The fact that the software updater crashed is not a good thing - the update can only be done via USB and not Bluetooth - what message do you get when you try to do the Software Updater ?
If it's a Bluetooth centred issue, then make sure you redo the syncing process - it's wizard driven so should be quite easy to do.
    Hope this helps.

  • Is Verizon's old unlimited plan really TRULY unlimited?

My friend just got a 4G LTE Smartphone (Galaxy Nexus) and was able to keep his previous unlimited plan.  He wants to know if its truly unlimited.  His parents are on AT&T have their unlimited plans are throttled after becoming the 5% of the heaviest data users.  He wants to download a couple HD 1080p movies online which are quite large.  So basically lets say he used 50GB in two days, could Verizon cancel his service or throttle him if he's on 4G?  I know they do with 3G but how about 4G?

Thanks.  Look like I found my answer.
Does Network Optimization apply to customers using 4G services?
No.  We reserve the right to include 4G LTE users later, but right now this only applies to the top 5% of users with unlimited data plans using 3G devices. If you have a 4G LTE device you will not be affected at this time.
