  • Brand new iPod Nano 4gb. Not responding after being charged for a while.

Hi guys. I got a replacement for my Nano today. It is brand new. The guy at the Apple Centre said to fully charge it before use, then fully discharge it. I've had the iPod plugged in for a fair while now, and it doesn't seem to be getting charged.
The problem could lie with the usb cord, it's not in the best condition, but I don't have access to another cord at the moment.
    Any suggestions?

How did you do the reset?  Have you tried plugging it into a different USB port on the Mac?  It could be a faulty lightning connector as some others have reported having.

  • I have a new ipod that I would like to share my itunes library with. Is this possible?

Can someone help me and give me an idea as to whether or not is possible to have multiple Ipods and a shuffle share the same Itunes library on the same computer.  I attempted to drag the music on my itunes to another IPOD and it will not allow it.  Please help.  Thank you.

Just plug the iPod in and open iTunes. It will the iPod will show in the devices section of the iTunes sidebar. Click on the iPod go to the summary tab and set you syncing options. You can do this for as many iPods/iPhones/iPads as you like.

Using an iPod Classic on a Bose sound dock....when loading the iPod from the Mac, what  "Import Settings" (under iTune "Preferences"),  should be used to maintain a constant sound level when playing music?  Mac OS 10.6.8, iTunes 10.6.1.
There are many Import Settings available and it is somewhat confusing.  Any suggestions?

Go to iTunes>Preferences>Playback. Tick "Sound Check."

"contact AppleCare (US number is 1-800-275-2273). They will contact the owner (as long as the iPod is registered and information is current) so that the iPod can be returned."

    See:
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device: Apple Support Communities
Basically you will have to transfer its contents to the new computer and then restore the iPod and then resync. An iPod can only sync to one iTunes library.
BTW you posted in the iPod touch forum.

  • I have a brand new Ipod nano never been opened. Could I exchange and get money off for ipad at an apple store?

I have a brand new Ipod nano that has never been opened. It was a gift.  Could I exchange it and get money off for an ipad at an apple store?

No.  The most you can do is turn it in your a 10% discount towards the purchase of a new one.  You would be much better off selling the Nano on Craigslist or eBay and using the profits from that towards the purchase of an iPad.

  • I work in a public library and we have two ipod touch and two ipod nanos we would like to circulate for our patrons. Any advice on how we can do this? Should we allow patrons to set the device up for personal use or download static content?

With the Nanos, you should have no problem lending them loaded with audiobooks from Librivox, etc.
As for the iPod Touches, I'm not sure the question is whether you should allow patrons to set up the device for personal accounts, but whether you can prevent them from doing so. Prepare to to a factory restore every time one is returned.

  • Would a brand new ipod nano say it's been formatted

I just paid for a brand new ipod nano (recycle fee of $75 and traded in my old one) and when I plugged it into  the USB,  it reported back to me that the new nano had already been formatted for macintosh. Doesn't feel like a new ipod?

  • Can't see brand new iPod Nano in Windows!!!

I just bought a brand new iPod Nano (2nd Gen) for my daughter for Christmas, and right out of the box it would not be recognized by Windows XP or iTunes -- even though another iPod Nano (1st Gen) that we own did connect. It was charging though.
I used this forum looking for answers and although helpful, there was an awful lot of misleading advice. I finally called the help line 1-800-275-2273 on this website http://www.apple.com/support/contact/
What I was told was to simply go through the reset process (which I had ignored because it seemed too simple). The steps are to flip the hold button a couple of times and then hold the menu and select (center) button down at the same time for 10 seconds. The iPod will power back up and be reset.
What this tells me is that Apple has a problem with the software originally loaded on these iPods, but at least this simple procedure solved the problem. I thought I would come back here and provide you with the solution to this problem -- hopefully saving you a lot of time! Good luck!!

I agree with you, Apple to me has some type of problem with their iPods. I've used some type of computer device since 1971, and in all this time, I have never used a device such as the iPod with so many quirks.
I tell you one thing the iPod makes you think!!! O;-D
I'm afraid to buy Apple Care because during the 1st year of owning an iPod you get support that really is not much help. Within the 1st year of owning an iPod, a customer can purchase the Apple Care Plan. The Apple Care Plan is only 2 years, and then you are on your own. If Apple had confidence in their iPod's, they would offer a longer warranty period.
The only thing I see Apple Care is good for is that if something catastrophic happen, they will pay for shipping and any parts that are needed to fix it.
Their stock is doing great. Where is the money going???

  • Issue with brand new iPod Nano 7g No Phone, can't contact Apple

    Hi everyone,
I just got my brand new iPod Nano the other day, when I opened it up and took the sticker off, I saw a large scratch down the screen. That was annoying enough but the scratch affects the touchscreen ability and it's very tough to ignore.
So like a normal person I want to contact Apple to try and resolve this, but I've hit another barrier. I only have one phone, a mobile and that's bust up. No way I can take or recieve calls unless I become psychic as the speaker and mic are broken. So i'm wondering if there's any other way I can contact Apple?
My nearest Apple store is about a 2 hour drive away as I live in the middle of nowhere, helpfully...
Totally new to this place so any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

So i'm wondering if there's any other way I can contact Apple?
Either borrow a cell or a landline phone.  I find it hard to believe no one in your neighborhood, family, school or job have no phone.

  • Brand new ipod nano will work when attached by cable either to a power adaptor or usb port but stops immediately when disconnected, despite being put on charge with different adaptors. Battery indicator remains constantly on lightning flas symbol and whit

My Brand New ipod nano (sold to me two days ago by Apple as replacement for previous ipod nano -15 months old and therefore out of warranty - which had suddenly stopped functioning altogether) will operate only when attached by cable to either power adapter, usb port on my laptop or when playing on a docking station. When detached, it stops playing and screen goes dark and it will not respond to any buttons, despite being charged several times for many hours on different chargers. The battery indicator stays on lightning flash symbol on white background and has only momentarily shown fully charged symbol once !
I am baffled as to why this new ipod has a similar problem to the old ipod.
Is there a virus out there which can have this effect and which I may have picked up on my Pc and have inadvertently transferred to both ipods when sync-ing ?
My PC has Norton anti-virus software.
    Any suggestions , please ?

Sounds like the Nano has a faulty battery.  You should be able to have Apple swap it out again for you at no cost.

  • Why won't my BRAND NEW iPod Nano 7th Generation recognize headphones?

My BRAND NEW iPod Nano 7th Generation (purchased from and Apple Store less than a week ago) will not recognize any headphones.  Consequently, I can hear NO sounds.  It worked just fine right after I set it up. I turned it off, disconnected headphones that came with the Nano. Several hours later I turned it on again, plugged in the headphones, and then I could hear NOTHING. When I tried the radio, I got the message there was no signal because it said the headphones were not plugged in, which they were.  I have tried two other sets of headphones.  None work, but they all work in another iPod, so I know it is not the headphones. I restored the software and started over, but this didn't help either.  I have pushed the headphone jack in as far as possible. This is very frustating because this Nano was a birthday gift for my husband.   I will be grateful for any help.  Thanks a lot.

Thanks SO much for the GREAT advice!  I did just what you said, and I am back in business.  The sound is fine, and the radio works. I cleaned out the jack with a tooth pick, blew some air in, and pushed the jack in a bit harder.I guess I was too tentative about pushing the jack all the way in. You were right that it is a tight fit.  Thanks again, deggie.  My husband thanks you also! His birthday gift now works!  Yay!
