Have BT got a clue??

So yesterday morning I lost my phone and broadband. Checked on BT.com and it said there was a problem in my area, which looked to have been identified or reported half an hour earlier with est fix of Wednesday. I then wasted an hour trying to find a number to call to find out what the issue was and why the fix would take 4 days....but all i got was recorded messages telling me what I already knew and then the call is terminated. Spent over 20 mins waiting for an analyst on online chat (god knows what thats done to my mobile bill....) They gave me another number assuring me that would get me through to a real person. Total lies, I just got another recorded message that didnt even mention the fault in my area. And then i got cut off again.
This morning I checked back online to see if there was any update to the known fault. There isnt, but I also noticed I have 1'reported fault' Strange I thought as the problem seems to have been known about half an hour before I even noticed. Once I got in to see the detail of this it seems a separate incident has been logged for my phone number based on either my online search or a call. This says there is a fault either inside or just outside my house and they will be in touch with me, with an est fix of 5pm Thursday!
So I now have no idea whether theres a general phone issue in the whole area or just in this building or just my number, what the problem is or when it will be fixed. And BT seem to make it impossible for their customers to talk to a real person. I've run customer facing IT teams for nearly 20 years and if we left a basic service down for 4+ days without giving customers information and without providing a means for people to call and speak to us.....I'd have been sacked years ago!

There could be a problem with cable damage or theft, or damage to a street cabinet or equipment.
The repair times you have been quoted, for a normal residential line, are correct.

    I have the same problem!! It lead to many other problems with my phone
    I just arranged a repair with apple. Yes its inconvenient to be without a phone for a while but if your phone is in warranty its good to get it looked at professionally!

    I have just got an Apple Airport time capsule to back up my one year old iMac......how do I do it?     Apple's Setup Guide for the Time Capsule is pretty simple and clear for most users, and you don't indicate at what point or step that you are getting stuck.
    So, please go to page 8 in your Setup Guide to review the topic of Plugging In Your AirPort Time Capsule.
    The Sky hub will likely have 4 Ethernet <--> ports on the back of the device. Pick any one that you want and connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the port that you choose.
    Then, connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the WAN (circle of dots) port as shown in the Setup Guide.
    Continuing with the instructions on page 8 of the Setup Guide, power up the Time Capsule by connecting the power cord from the back of the Time Capsule to a wall AC jack.
    Note that the instructions indicate that the indicator light will be solid amber during startup, and it will change to blinking amber during the setup. The light will remain blinking amber until you have configured the Time Capsule at which time the light will turn green.
    Next, go to page 12 of the Setup Guide to see the information to Use your Mac or iOS device to set up your AirPort Time Capsule.
    You indicated in your tag line that you were using OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3), and since that will exceed the minimum requirement of a Mac using OS X (10.7.5) as noted in the guide, you can use your Mac to set up the Time Capsule.
    Continuing with the instructions on page 12 of the Setup Guide......
    1. Open AirPort Utility on your Mac.  It is located as follows:  Finder (the smiley face on the dock) > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    2. Select your AirPort Time Capsule and click Continue. You won't be able to do this, but read further......If you do not see the AirPort Time Capsule that you want to configure, choose it from the WiFi status menu in the menu bar, at the top of the screen.
    So, clicking on the WiFi icon will yield a small window that looks like this:
    The example below shows an AirPort Extreme.  You will see Time Capsule on your screen. Click on Time Capsule.
    When you click on Time Capsule, that will get the setup wizard going. it will take a minute to analyze the network, then display a screen that looks similar to the illustration below, except that you will see a picture of a Time Capsule on your screen
    3. Continuing with the Setup Guide.......Follow the onscreen prompts to create a new network
    Network Name...........Type in a simple name that you want to call your network. Do not use the suggested name.
    Base Station Name....Type in a simple name that you want to call the Time Capsule.  Mine is TC, for example.
    Password...................Type in a password that will be used for both the network and the Time Capsule.  Write that down.
    Verify..........................Type in the password again to Verify
    Click Next
    The setup wizard will configure everything for you. When you see the message of Setup  Complete, click Done.
    The Time Capsule is now set up and it will display a green light.

    To begin with, I would like to try to explain Apple's confusing nomenclature in regard to iCloud.
    Apple have called the whole cloud thing iCloud, there are a number of features under the iCloud umbrella, some of which require their own login. iTunes is one of these, another is what Apple have unfortunately also called iCloud too.
    You can use the same Apple ID (account) to login to both iCloud and iTunes, but you don't need to and often users will login to each service using a different ID.
    The part that you need to remember is that the services available when you log into iCloud are completely different and unrelated to those when you log in to iTunes. Your iCloud login enables mail, contacts, calendars, find my phone, Back to My Mac, Documents & Data sharing and photostream, it does not affect any of your iTunes services.
    To avoid confusion when discussing your problem, when I mention iCloud, I am referring to the services under the iCloud login, Whereas I will refer to the whole cloud thing as The Cloud.
    You need to create a new account for either yourself or your wife, you can choose whether to use this account for iCloud and therefore keep your personal data such as the contacts etc separate, you can continue to use the account you are both using for iTunes so that you may share the content you have already purchased, but each use your own account for iMessage which will stop you receiving each other's messages.

    You can create another apple Id for a seperate device.  My wife and I both have I phones and we share the same apple ID for purchases.  We however each have our own apple ID for icloud or gamecenter as it were.  That way you can share all your apps, music, movies and books but have your own ID for iMessage, FaceTime, iCloud and so on.  To make it extra clear I have two apple IDs on my iPhone.  One for purchasing and one for icloud or gamecenter.

    I am getting frustrated with the lack of support from SE regarding the Liveview on anything other than Sony phones.
    so much so that i thought i would write a scenario as follows
    A good friend pops in to see me , sees the LV
    Whats that he asks ?
    Oh it's a Liveview, it displays messages , vibrates on calls etc
    What does it do? , so i would press the button and it displays the connection screen,
    Whats that ?, it's just a connection screen it displays when it loses connection
    Does that happen a lot ?, yep fraid so but someone from sony knows that it does this on non sony phones and they said they would look into it
    Any news on when ?, To be honest i dont think that they actually are as we have nothing for ages
    But when it's disconnected does it still vibrate etc, NO
    sony do say it's compatible on the website with the HTC Desire but i suppose opinions differ, everyone other than SE thinks it means it works but they think it should just connect for a short while.

    this could and should have been an excellent product but at the moment it's a complete waste of time
    there are reported workarounds about but the liveview software is awful and when having to autostart it it outs a big OK Button you have to press on the screen before you can use the Liveview or the Phone. and of course while disconnected it does not work
    The Design faulty Watch Clip should be replaced FOC
    And the virtually non existant support should be better than yes we know this is an issue ill pass it onto someone else that will bury it away.
    If it states on the SE website that it works with certain phones then make sure it does and fix it
    have we got recourse for refunds from SE under the trade descriptions Act ?
    Please fix these issues

    they have now taken down all of the compatible devices and put this disclaimer instead

    Do a factory reset .. nothing will be deleted from your backups and you will be able to get access to them again.
    The Factory Reset Gen1-4.
    Unplug your TC. Hold in reset. and power the TC back on.. without releasing reset for about 10sec. When the status light flashes rapidly; release it.
    Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
    TC will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
    No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.

    The storage you who have purchased is iCloud storage, it is not extra storage on your iPad, you cannot add extra storage space to your iPad.
