Have caption appear on printout of photo re aperture 3

Question

I have been scanning B&W negs that are close to 100 years old. These are old family photos. My objective is to place captions on these so as to have a permanent record. I am having trouble printing the photos with the caption on the picture. Without the caption they are of no historical use. Ultimately I want these printed as albums through apple. Please would appreciate detailed instuctions -- an old person (80) with new technology! John

Hi John,
You can do what you want -- and, as usual, in several ways.
To print any metadata text field alongside your Image(s): in the Print dialog, in the "Metadata & Page Options" section, select a Metadata View with the metadata that you wish to have printed (create a Metadata View as needed).  This selection should show in the big preview pane of the Print dialog.
Unfortunately, there is a weirdness in the representation of some typefaces: some fonts won't show the entire field contents at small point sizes.  If this happens, either increase the point size (using the drop-down), or select the drop-down "Font" and arrow through the list until you find one that shows all your text ("my text field contents will show here", instead of "my text fie ... ").
Ignore the "Comment Lines" setting.  This is simply to print lines on the page for editors to hand-write comments.
Try a few things out, and post back with questions.
Note that this is for printing a metadata field alongside your pictures.  You can make the text part of the picture using the plug-in Border FX.  That destroys the data "under" the text -- but it means that the text is part of the picture and will always print with it.
