Have CS3 Windows, want to buy Mac

I am getting a new computer since Windows stopped supporting XP.  If I buy an iMac or MacBook Pro, can I still use my CS3 Windows files?  Do I need to buy new CS for Mac?  If so, is there some way I can still access my CS Windows files?  Thanks.

Your Windows version will not install on a Mac and even if you had the Mac version CS3 would be a complete crapshoot on Mavericks.
You can buy a full version of CS6 or you can use the CS3 license to get intro pricing to Creative Cloud for $29.99/month for the FIRST YEAR. It’s $49.99/month thereafter.
The actual files you’ve produced with the software are crossplatform.

  • I have CS3 and want to continue using this product with having to do n upgrade. How can I use

I have CS3 and want to continue using this without having to upgrade. I dont want to spend money - I just want to use what I have. Is this possible/

Just continue using it if that is your choice - there is nothing forcing you to buy anything newer.  You might need to continue using the same computer as well.  Upgrading your computer could lead to an incompatibility between the software and the new system.
Just so you know, CS3 is not eligible for an upgrade any longer as of January 1.

It sounds like it is time to restore from the backups you made just before making the disk changes.
You can re-partition and restore your backups.  If you didn't make backups first (you were warned that it might damage things and to make sure you had a good backup) then you will need to repartition everything and reinstall from scratch...

Your question is not quite clear.  If by "OS X server" you mean Lion Server, then it's a two step process:
Buy Lion from the Mac App Store and follow the onscreen instructions to install it.
Buy Lion Server from the Mac App Store and follow the onscreen instructions to install it.
Note: this will replace the existing OSX on your computer.

  • I have several Windows machines and several Macs ...

I have several Windows machines and several Macs here at the office, plus the several iPhones ...
Do you know of an Address Book program for Windows (XP and up) ... so I can manulally (or automatically) import / export contacts from Windows to iCloud, then on to iPhone(s) & Macs ?? ... OR directly transfer files between WinPCs and Apple Mac Address Book.
I would really like to avoid Win-Outlook, et al and use some third party software for this.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
In Firefox 4 [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode Safe mode] disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.
Check if there is an update available for your graphics display card driver.
    * Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

  • Want to Buy Mac Mini.... HELP!

I want to buy a mac mini, but my fear is that it says it comes with Tiger as the OS. Anyone with experience? If this is the case... I will be very unhappy.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Some applications still aren't Leopard compatible. Some even have issues with Adobe CS2 and CS3 compatibility and Leopard. So depending on your application needs, you may find having Tiger to be advantageous. If you get a Mac Mini that preshipped with Leopard, you'll have no option to downgrade back to Tiger if you find a necessary application is Tiger only compatible.
PowerPC Mac Minis also have another added advantage, and that's Classic compatibility up through 10.4.11. There is no Classic compatibility in Leopard.
Note, Classic doesn't have full Mac OS 9 driver support, but there are many older software titles that work just fine in Classic, but don't work at all in 10.5.
So before complaining about Tiger only being on your Mac Mini determine if there is any software which requires Leopard in your collection. If not, don't panic!
Many third party software vendors offer Leopard like features on Tiger compatible software.
Finally if you have a big enough internal hard drive, you can dual boot into both Tiger and Leopard on your Mac for compatibility to both operating systems.
Note, 2 USB port Mac Minis are PowerPC. 4 USB port Mac Minis are Intel. Compatibility with Windows applications is better with Intel Mac Mini, plus more built-in RAM makes it easier to install Leopard.
Whatever Mac Mini you get, be sure to get the original prebundled software, as they contain a good hardware test program, and bundled software that does not ship with the operating system retail.

    No can do I'm afraid.

It's to do with licensing. If you read the EULA that comes with OSX it tells you about those restrictions.

  • If i want to buy mac air online can i get it in arabic keyboard ?

if i want to buy the new mac air online can i get it in arabic keyboard ?

    In the United States, no.
    These are your choices...
    However, in other countries, possibly.
But I have found that in most countries in the Middle East, there is no online Apple Store, per se. Apple uses distribution, and it is up to the re-seller as to whether they support online ordering.
If you are in the United States, you might want to try an Apple Store location to see how you might special order for your requirements.

  • Need OS X Lion and Snow Leopard for iCloud functionality but I have a windows bootcamp on my mac.  Problem?

    Much apprecitive.

In addition to what Kappy suggested, please check your Mac against the hardware requirements of Lion before starting this project.
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor

  • I want to buy mac desktop for editing purpose

I want to buy a desktop for editing purpose in a reasonable rate

If you are a student, government worker or someone that is fortunate enough to work for a company that offers company discounts then you will need to pay the same amount as all of us. However you may be a great candidate for an Apple Refurbished machien where you can save hundreds of $$ with no downside. You can get a late model machine that has the same warranty (1 year) as a new machine, is eligible for AppleCare and is virtualy identical looking to a new machine. You can search for these in the online store in your country, for example today in the US you can find what is available at:
    http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/mac
Look at the system requirments for both of the above apps and then determine which machine meets or exceeds those specifications to decide on the machine you want.

  • I have a newer MacBook Pro with an AMD processor.  It is my understanding that Parallels can only be used on Mac's with Intel Processors.  Is that true and if so does anyone have recommendations about how to have a windows side to my Mac

Then it either is a pirate clone or you are misinformed.
Apple Computer has never used AMD processors in its products.
However, the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) is a Radeon unit, which is an AMD subsidiary. Parallels, VMWare, VirtualBox will all work fine with the Intel Core i7 or i5 CPU that powers the Mac, and use the AMD Radeon GPU that drives the displays.

  • HT1846 If I have installed windows 7 on my mac book pro, but want to install windows 8 when it comes out, how do I do that?

do I simply put the windows 8 disc in my (Early 2011 edition MBP) disc drive when I'm on my windows side and install to that same partition Bootcamp Already wrote?
Or do I have to go through Bootcamp again?

Fair point. If I had a large enough bank account I surely would be running two separate machines. With the only option being one computer for purchase I went with the Mac and windows dual as you can see by this threads title. For my case it was ideal. For you, no, but in my case there was no better option.
I understand that, and have been there but these machines (and I have a lot of Macs, only 4 PC's) are just revenue streams for me, they do various tasks cheaper than a bunch of dedicated hardware, and I can troubleshoot from a remote location far easier than I can with the dedicated stuff. The simple truth is that for me to dedicate a Mac to running one or two Windows programs entails far more cost than a Windows PC, and there is no advantage to offset the extra cost.
