Have downloaded the new version numerous times. it keeps telling me I'm still using 3.6 -- HELP

I have OFTEN received the message that I am running on version 3.6 (Firefox) and should update to 7.xx (can't remember). I have downloaded the new version, my computer message says "download completed". Then a week or two later I am told I'm running on "old" version 3.6 and should upgrade. I've played this game m-a-n-y times. What more do I need to do??

Close Firefox
Run the downloaded installer
Open Firefox
You will now be running the latest version.

Here is how I fixed the problem.
Uninstall Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Software Update, Bonjour, iTunes, and Quicktime. Basically any Apple software.
Download and re-install itunes, it will install all of the above.
Open iTunes. It now runs correctly.
I was having the same problem until I did this, and it fixed the problem right away.
Sit back and enjoy music.

Thanks for the information. I am a bit nervous about the method because I get a "serious" warning when I put the command in the URL. Also, I wonder if you know the answer to this: Someone/Firefox pushed an upload tab to me. That is the best way I can explain what happened. Now, sometimes I get an ! in a triangle, sometimes I get an outdated message with the Firefox logo in place of the ! and sometimes it does not show an icon indicating the program is out of date. Uninstall version 6, Google for a download site for version 5.1. Problem solved.

I updated to Yosemite and now Iphoto says it's incompatable. Downloaded the new version 3 times now and still get the same message. Restarted Macbook twice and still same problem

The "latest" version is a bit ambiguous. The App Store may be only showing you the latest version you bought, not the most recent version.
Which version did you download?
You need to install iPhoto 9.6 and launch this version. If you previously have been running a version of iPhoto 8.x.x., you cannot update, but need to buy the upgrade to iPhoto 9.6 from the "Featured" tab of the App Store..
Then launch iPhoto from the Applications folder. The Dock icon may still be tied to the older version.
Also, depending on the version you upgraded from, you may need to run the iPhoto Library Upgrader, if your iPhoto Library has been created by iPhoto 7.1.2 or earlier, see this link: iPhoto '11: About the Library Upgrader

Hope someone can help me with this one, have a new computer with windows 7 as the operating system, have installed elements 7 and have now purchased the 50d, as i shoot in raw have tried to open the file but elements is unable to read the raw file, have looked on various threads and have downloaded the new version of raw, this version is saved in my download file directory, have copied across these files to the elements folder but i still cannot read my raw file for the 50d, is there something i have missed.

be sure not to have the older version of camera raw plugin in the same folder as that of new one. dont even rename it. Remove it and store it in some other location in case you need to revert back the changes. The camera raw plugin is called : Camera Raw
