Ubuntu/9.04 (jaunty) is an old version of Linux from 2009. You're gonna need to upgrade to a newer operating system to use a more recent version of Firefox.
My advice is to consult with the Ubuntu support forums to find out if your PC can support the latest version of Ubuntu, or if you should switch to a different "flavor" of Linux.

When I click on the Firefox icon, my homepage opens to about 95% and then it stops reponding. If I click on anything, I get the message that it is "not responding:. I have used Firefox for years with no problems. What can I do?

I have used Firefox for years and it has been great until a few days ago. Now when I try to open it, the homepage from a few days ago opens, but the green bar on the lower right fills in about 95%. On the lower left it says "transferring data from l1.yimg.com but it freezes there. If I click on anything, it says (not responding) on the upper left. I have used Firefox for years on my Mac laptop for years, I tried to update to version 4 and now I have no Firefox and every time I download the the Firefox the emblem has a awhite circle with a cross through it, so I can't drag it to applications.

The support page is ridiculous, it assumes you already have Firefox and that the install went fine. I am having trouble with an update to Version 4. I have an ibook G4 running OS X. I have used Firefox for years. When I downloaded the update, the Firefox logo thing that you are supposed to drag to the Applications folder has a white circle with a line through it. I have rebooted many times and have updated all other software.

I wouldn't trust any Firefox "update" from a non-Mozilla website. Sometimes, unofficial builds contain adware or malware. If you want to use Firefox for AOL do so at your own risk.

Try booting to the Recovery drive, running Disk Utility and Repair disk and Repair Permissions.
1. Reboot and immediately hold down command and R (two keys).
2. When you see the screen shown on this page, select Disk Utility and continue.
3. When DU is running, select the hard drove on the left, First Aid and Repair Disk.
4. After Repair Disk, click Repair Permissions.
Quit DU and restart.

My firefox at home, (version 3) does not have this happen! I'm afraid of upgrading to version 3 because of all these problems. I use FireFox for work so i really need it and I'm wasting crucial time restarting websites and updating my websites/blog/business listings from scratch. not right!

I have installed Safari update - 5.0.6 and the browser stopped working. At openingit shows the following icon:

After deleting all plugins from the folder "Internet Plugin", Safari worked again no problem, BUT all sites with flash content (e.g.YouTube) did not work.
I then tried the following experimental steps:
a) Moved all plugins from the folder "Internet Plugin" into a temporary folder.
b) Downloaded and istalled Adobe Flash Player version 10.3.181.34
c) Started Safari and it did not work ( same message"TastyAppsAVPlugin")
d) Deleted Adobe Flash Player from the folder "Internet Plugin". Safari worked.
e) Moved back all plugins, except Adobe Flash Player, from the temporary folder to "Internet Plugin" folder. Safari works... But Flash won't work!!! Before update to Safari 5.0.6 , ev erything worked perfectly well.
Guys, please solve the problem

I do not know which of the many TastyApps haxies you have. Perhaps it would be better to contact them directly, once you know which of their products you have.

Have down loaded Maverick OS two days ago. to activate it asked for my Administrator password which I could not remember. I changed my Password. Now where do I find the Mavereick OS on my computer as i can now give my Administrator password.

I've tried both. First, I tried on my pc, where iTunes had installed iCloud when it last updated. I have iTunes installed on this computer (and on my iPad and iPhone), but that wasn't the issue.
So I went online, thinking I needed a separate iCloud Apple ID, but it prompted me for my current Apple ID and gave me the message about my ID being "valid" but not an iCloud account," which, lol, was what it had asked me to do in order to create one.
