Have I been advised correctly on Infinity?

I ordered Infinity yesterday and asked the sales consultant what the install involved. I was advised hardly anything. However, on doing my own research I understand there is a fibre modem that needs plugging into the master phone socket (and that I need two power sockets next to it).
My phone line comes into a small utility room in my living room (it houses my alarm, electric meter etc) from the outside and when the engineer (a BT contractor) installed it, he placed the master socket next to my TV cabinet as requested. I also have two spare power sockets there so all fine in that respect.
But I've got a very complex TV set-up and don't want to move my tv cabinet at all. I've got lots of equipment in the TV cabinet (including the home hub 3 modem) so if the engineer can simply plug the fibre modem into the master socket then I'll be fine. But have heard the engineer needs to install a new face plate on the master socket for an ethernet cable? And that there might be a data extension kit needed?
Basically, I've spent hours running wires and phone lines under carpets and installing my equipment in the TV cabinet. If I now have to have additional wiring and start moving out all my equipment I'll probably cancel the order. Bit annoyed, as I checked more than once that the install wouldn't need much work but seems this isn't the case. Grateful for any help/replies from those who have had an install done.

  • Ever since I downloaded the latest itunes update songs have not been syncing correctly and now they aren't all no matter what I do the settings on my iphone 4s or itunes on my PC.

    I recently had trouble updating my itunes, when I did do it I kept getting an error message and because of that I had to uninstall everything than reinstall itunes.  But since then my iphone, ipad, and ipod are not really syncing correctly.  My PC says its going through the steps and applying everything but when I got to my phone nothing is updated at all.  Nothing is being applied and I did the run diagnostics as well and it said that everything was fine.  When I got what is on this phone it says the playlists are on my phone but when I go to the music app on my phone the playlists aren;t there at all.  I've gone through all my settings on my computer and iphone and they are all what they should for the songs to transfer correctly and it still isn't working. 

    So, in iTunes, when you look at the shuffle's content (in the sidebar) and click on the playlist under the shuffle, over to the right, the songs are in your desired order, correct?  Where do you look, or what do you do, that indicates the playlists are in alphabetical order?  Are you saying that when you play the songs while using the shuffle, they play in alphabetical order?
    If so, when you listen to the songs on the shuffle, are you using the playlist, or are you using the All Songs list? If you are in the default All Songs list, with the shuffle's power switch set to play-in-order (the middle position), the songs play alphabetically, I believe. 
    The 3rd gen shuffle uses VoiceOver.  If you are in the All Songs list, you need to use VoiceOver to switch to the playlist (see manual linked below for details).  When you are in the playlist (with the shuffle's power switch set to play-in-order), then the songs should play in playlist order.

    See page 22 for the section about setting up and using VoiceOver.  The part about switching playlists starts on page 23 (Using the Playlist Menu).

    You'll need to update to at least ACR 8.2 for the 70D to be recognized.  The normal way to update PSE12 to the latest CR is to use Help / Updates in the Editor which should update to ACR 8.5.
    According to Adobe's website PSE12 shipped with ACR 8.1 and you say it says yours is reported as ACR 8.0.
    Are you using PSE 11 and not 12?  PSE 11's maximum ACR version is 8.0.

    As KP has pointed out, there actually aren't any anti-virus programs in the App Store. There are a few that allow you to scan e-mail or stuff like that, and a few that provide you with information about malware and new threats for other systems. But none are available that can scan your iOS device for malware, because the security restrictions in iOS do not permit any apps to have that kind of access to anything. Which means that you also cannot be infected with a virus (unless you have jailbroken your device).
    If your account got compromised, that had nothing whatsoever to do with your iPad. Someone simply hacked it remotely. Happens all the time. It's really amazing that, in this day and age, e-mail providers are so ignorant of technology and how their own systems get compromised that they would try to require you to run software that does not exist!

    Over a very large sample of drives, these drives are very reliable, despite being moved around inside laptops.
    You do not have a very large sample, you have ONE drive. Anything that happens, from having it run for twenty years to having it die on the first day, is within the normal range.
    The rapid resolution to your problem IS to replace the drive. At your leisure, you may find that after re-writing every block with Zeroes (a process that can take half a day and has no guarantee of success) enough spare blocks can be found to return the drive to service. Or maybe not. If you are willing to invest the time and energy to do this, you may get a nice backup drive, or you may get a doorstop. No one can predict ahead of time.

    Your computer must be on and running itunes.  Apple tv will only see files located in itunes (movies, music, etc)

    Apple doesn't "block" that device. They just don't support the Bluetooth profiles the Destiny pen requires. You can see the Bluetooth profiles included in iOS here:

    Actually, i had already deleted the emails trying to be sent in the outbox, which didn't work. What did work was going to Mail>Window>Activity and stopping the sending from there. Thank you for replying.

  • T440s FP Reader Problem/Fa​ilure "Your fingerprin​ts have not been enrolled for authentica​tion."

    I have a T440s CTO which is a great machine except that I no longer have part of the fingerprint reader functionality available to me.  The machine has a Synaptics Fingerprint Sensor.
    At new and after enrollment of fingerprints, functionality included:
    1) Swipe at power on password screen authenticated me a) through power on password, and, b) through Windows 7 Professional logon.
    2) After machine recovers from sleep, a swipe at locked computer screen authenticated me through Windows 7 password query.
    3) After machine locks after set timeout, a swipe at locked computer screen authenticated me through Windows 7 password query.
    I no longer have functionalities 2) and 3) described above.  When I swipe at the locked computer screen, the message "your fingerprints have not been enrolled for authentication" appears at which point I have to type my password to unlock computer.
    Since functionality 1) continues to work properly, my fingerprints are correctly enrolled. 
    I have taken the following steps:
    1) updated the driver for the Synaptics FP reader
    2) deleted and re-enrolled my fingerprints (multiple times) through Lenovo Fingerprint Mgr. Pro v8.01.18(x64)
    3) deleted fingerprint data from the Security tab of the BIOS setup utility.
    The Synaptics device driver installed is version 4.5.266.0
    Has anyone else experienced this issue?
    LENOVO folks - please advise how I can resolve this so that the original functionality is restored.

    OK - I left the domain and ran FP Mgr Pro and lo and behold, no fingerprints were enrolled.  Unfortunately, when I tried to enroll the fingers that I use for the FP reader, the machine told me that the fingerprints were already enrolled.  Recall that I did not delete the fingerprints that were enrolled under the domain before attempting to enroll at the machine level.
    Then - I deleted the fingerprints at the domain level and deleted the fingerprints at the BIOS level.  I then logged in at machine level and enrolled fingerprints.
    I rebooted and the machine asked for FPs at power on password and accepted my print.  Unfortunately, it booted me through power on and Windows security into machine level, not my domain which is where I need to be.
    This is very frustrating.
