Have i lost my photos?
Hello all,
I have burned some photos to a cd from iphotos. All worked well, but The cd I used was a cdrw with some photos already on it, which i burned from a pc. Have I been an idiot? It appears to me that the old pc photos are gone.
any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Check the Trash in your home folder. If that hasn;t been emptied they could be there.
If not then you might have luck using a file recovery program but for that to have any chance of success you need to stop using your computer immediately. The more you use it the mote likely that the disk space were the photos still might be will be used by the OS for other purposes and then they will be truly gone.
BTW just to make sure you don;t have any backups right?

- What OS is on your computer? you say you have Windows 98. That I think is the problem.

If your previous iPhone was/is running iOS 7, after you install iOS 7 on the replacement iPhone you can restore the replacement iPhone from the backup of the previous iPhone.

I have IPhone 3G with software 3.0.
I downloaded iOS 4 04 July 2010. And after reboot (installation) all photos in Camera Roll and Albums have been lost (are erased)!!! Why it happens? How can I return all my Photos???I, too, lost many, many (~300) photos off of the Camera Roll when I upgraded to 4.0. None of the photos from the "folders" that I sync from my laptop were lost so this seems to be a problem with the Camera Roll only. Help!

I tried to open my iphoto last night on my iMAC and it somehow updated on it's own and now has a message saying "The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade.The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete." I only have the option to quit or upgrade. What does this mean? Have i lost my pictures? i don't properly have my back up hard drive set up so all my pictures aren't backed up.

After your iPhoto application got updated to a new version, iPhoto will convert the iPhoto library to a new format, that is used by the new version. The warning tells you, that after this upgrade older iPhoto versions will no longer be able to read the iPhoto library. If you have a second Mac with older software that might be important. Make a backup to be on the safe side and let iPhoto upgrade the library. -
When I try to install update of iPhoto it uses my original apple ID. The eMail account has been long changed I have lost the associated password.
If Apple uses themail address to contavt me, it cant and there seems no way I can use my current Apple ID to change things. Thought of simply buying laresrt version, but if I do so will I have lost my existing photo library?
Help!Move your curring iPhoto app to the Trash (don't empty) and then try purchasing again. If you're still having problems with the App Store you might try this:
1 - enable the Debug menu in App Store:
open the Terminal application.
copy the command below and paste into the Terminal window:
defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
followed by Enter.
launch App Store, login.
2 - select the Debug ➙ Reset Application option:

Have I lost my photos forever? URGENT HELP NEEDED!!
Here's the situation. I have a G5 PowerMac, and I recently uploaded photos from my camera. I wanted to burn them to a CD so I took the original picture folders from the harddrive (my bad) and dragged them onto a blank CD. Once I had them on there, I dragged one folder off again to organize them better and got the following error message:
"The alias "21" could not be opened because the original item cannot be found."
Of course I deleted the **** things off my camera already. It gives me the option to:
a) Delete Alias
b) Fix Alias
c) OK
Fixing the alias launches a new browse window that wants me to locate the original file, which would be fine except the file that I put on the CD WAS the original file. It won't let me choose the same file.
I can still see the thumbnails in iPhoto, but I can't do anything to them, can't drag and drop, can't open them in Photoshop, can't even preview them. I spent a good 1/2 hour on the phone on hold with Apple only to be transferred 3 times and then told it would cost a MINIMUM of $60 to troubleshoot this issue, no resolution guaranteed.
Please, please, please someone tell me if there is some way to restore these photos!!I find the whole burn folder deal and alias thing a little confusing. I remember the first time I went to burn my iPhoto Library folder. After I burned the folder, I was afraid to delete the iPhoto Library folder that was in the burn folder. For days I just kept it there, afraid that if I deleted it, I would delete my iPhoto Library folder that was in my Pictures folder. I ended up making a copy of the iPhoto Library folder in my Pictures folder just in case. Then I deleted the iPhoto Library folder in the burn folder. I checked my Pictures folder and the Library was still there, so I then deleted the copy I made.

Why have I lost my photos from iPad?
I had about 11000 photos uploaded to my iPad (3); after the last sync to iTunes, most are gone!
Syncing now iTunes still thinks there's 25.5. Gb of photos on the iPad, whil ethe iPad Settings/General/Usage say there's only 6.3 Gb. I'm not looking forward to syncing them again - it took days to get them on in the first place as iTunes will only reliably upload about 500 at a time. I do believe Apple ar elosing the plot!Apple removed it and the 'book view' for some obscure reason.

ThanksIf the photos were synced to the iPod;
- you need a third-party program like TouchCopy or Phone view to copy them to another computer.
- Email them to the computer
- See it there is an app available that will transfer them to your computer. However, there may not be any compatible with your model iPod and its iOS. There is the Photo Transfer app but that requires iOS 4.3 or above but your 2G iPod can only go as high as 4.2.1 -
if i go into icloud on my phone then manage storage, i can see i have a 252.6 back up from my old iphone 5 (that i have now lost) i want to use this backup to get all my photos back but when i click on it, it says Latest back up Incomplete????????
am i out of luck of can i do something??I'm afraid you're out of luck. If it says incomplete you won't be able to access the backup.

i have lost my photos/videos when i imported from my ipad 2 to my new imac latest version OS X 10.8.4
and it's not reading the files. I have downloaded iMac library manager and can see them. when i go back into iphoto i'm getting the following message :

can someone shed some light please ?So it appears you have only one library on the hard drive. Apply the two fixes below in order as needed to that library:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.

Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory. -

It's version iPhoto '11. I sent the photos to the trash from in the resident iPhoto application, but not to the iPhoto trash, but the OS's trash in the bottom right task bar (Finder Trash).
Realizing what I had done, I dragged the picture folder back into the "Pictures" folder under my name in the Finder. I also dragged the iPhoto Library file back, but it said a new one had been created... I still attempted to replace the new with old iPhoto Library file.
The pictures are back and i can see the album names under events. The problem is that the album covers, nor the pictures themselves show up as thumbnails like they did before... they only show when you individually click on the photo to bring it into full view. I only see a grey background where the thumbnail was.
Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
