Have I made mistake buying Apple TV...?...
OK just got an Apple TV. Just got new Macformat magazine which reviews v3 S/ware and compares other Media Players to.
I have a PS3 downstairs now, and read up on APple TV 1st so knew what it could/couldn't do.
I paid £219 in Apple retail store, but now I'm thinking that maybe I should have bought another PS3 for upstairs (where my Apple TV is)
Buying another PS3 would have allowed me still to stream like I do with Apple TV now, play DVD, play Blu-ray, even games if I wanted.
have I made a mistake? I use my PS3 downstairs for media playing ans its fine, when I consider now another PS3 wold have cost £230 so about same price and for more..?..

I hate my PS3 for media streaming, and I've never got it to work reliably - but maybe that's because I had AppleTv first and got used to that and then couldn't be bothered investing time learning to do things differently for PS3 - perhaps you have this situation in reverse.
Why do you hate the PS3 for streaming? its just a matter of putting PS3 Media Server on and then navigating to the folder for Video, music or Photos to play?
The PS3 has lots to commend it but only if you're happy fiddling with discs, and it will not play all media natively, though some streaming servers for it will transcode on the fly.
Fiddling with disks?, why to play a DVD? not much fiddle really.
As I found out last night kids wanted to watch a DVD, upstairs (where AppleTV is), this time I couldnt just pop one in, all my previous conversions are in avi currently, so I had to reconvert, copy to PC server, then sync through there. I suppose once I have converted all then it will be fine then, buts it taking ages (4 movies about 8hours to convert)
Contact Apple and see what the return policy is locally.
I may do that, I really want to like it, its just it was almost an impulse on the day purchase, it was £219, whereby another PS3 is £10 more, and it can seem to do a lot lot more.
I just want some comments especially form people who have a PS3 as well like yourself to expain why you much prefer AppleTV over PS3, is it because you do a lot of renting and purchasing in iTunes on AppleTV, I will not do this that much I dont think, also PS3 now has a video store.
Please help I will contact think over the next days and try to get some comments

MariaMy understanding is the you can have three apple ids per device.
You do want to be the first to set the Activation lock. This way you can at least restore you iPad should it get locked out.

How long do they give you till you can't purchase Apple Care for your iPhone? I would suppose a little bit before the standard year is up?

That wouldn't be possible, the new Apple ID would have no idea about the old Apple ID. It's also a bad idea to create a new Apple ID. Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with another Apple ID with a new Apple ID.

Have I made a mistake buying an Core Duo?

Am I doomed, Have I commited a crime, Am I going to be dissapointed? I am getting worried here, as I sit glaring onto the screen of my new Intel Core Duo 20", and staring even harder at the lovely black box of my Motion 2 Software which I can't do anything with!!
Hope some of you have some thoughts here, I am a new mac user. Previously I have been a keen amateur in video work, using premiere on a windows pc.
I have decicded to make the leap to doing video on a mac and to learn FCS
I have just bought my first Mac, (a intel core duo 20" standard set up). I also (a week before getting the iMac) bought Motion 2. I didn't have the choice to buy a powermac, as they are way over my budget, especially as I would have to buy a separate screen.
So my budget conscious plan was to buy Motion 2 (which i have), Buy a mac (which I have), order final cut universal upgrade, (which means I end up getting FC Studio for £300 instead of £900) and whilst waiting for studio to ship I could begin learning motion.
Alas, as I have now found out, Motion doesn't run on my intel iMac (it doesn't even start up). Through this forum I have now found out why - although to be honest the tech support guy at apple i rang had no idea why it wouldn't , and to be quite frank he should of know know shouldn't he, as he works for mac for petes sake!!
Anyway, heres my question. I am now worried that even when I get my universal copy of FCS I am going to be dissapointed.
Is my intel iMac going to struggle to run the FCS apps? (especially motion)?
Is the graphics card (an ATI X1600) up to the job? (i had the basic 128mb)?
What kind of ram am I going to need? - the max I can have is 2gb?
It may be the case I am stuck with what I have got, as its now a week old, and don't think I am allowed to return, just because I may have made the wrong buying decision.
I really regret not having the 256mb video card version, and I should have researched more. But I bought on impulse from PC World, and the bloke didn't have a clue, and he never even mentioned the other option.
I am now wondering if I shoud have just bought a refurbed iMac (not intel) or even a second hand powermac.
Anyway - some opinions from you guys on whether I have a system that is going to be able to run Motion and FCS Universal, or whether I am in for a rocky road ahead would be good at this stage?

PopSynicWelcome to the family. While we sympathize with your situation, we're seeing a lot of it these days. We're mostly sorry you Intel buyers didn't spend more time doing better research before spending all your money.
Buy the universal update package, you have no choice, but look carefully at the specs on the iMac's graphics card and compare them against the requirements for Motion. I don't use an iMac but the card may not be up to the task and I don't know if it can upgraded; you may never be happy with the iMac's performance.
If Motion is crucial to your plans to make a living in video and motion graphics creation, you have no choice but to buy a properly equipped machine. Think of it like gaming on a PC. If you want to compete in the coolest games, you buy a PC that is hacked for gaming. If you want to do Motion, you must buy a Macintosh made for the task.
The first level of Apple support is twits reading scripts. All they know is how to tell PC users to install iTunes. Do not expect to get any useful advice from Apple on the phone unless you are buying the pro support. Stop here first. we're free and we care.

I bought a HD and the Itunes Stores say that the movie (Pretty Women) has Itunes Extras. Why I can not find it? It is a mistake from Apple? What happen if I buy the movie because the Extras and now I can not watch it? I have an Ipad last generation.

I have gone through so many apple products to have the battery go out in 1 year or become obsolete in 3 years. I don't believe new apps can't be made to work with older devices and batteries should last more than a year. At this point I feel it's like so much in our world to force us to buy new or use our 3 year old ipod touch as a glorified MP3 player. Some of us can't afford to replace our devices if your like me you expect to use Apple products for a long time that's why you purchase Apple. I bought a ipad so i wouldn't have to carry a laptop but if I want to download music or a book to my nano or ipod touch I can't and who want to take a walk carrying a ipad? Would it be so hard to make a cord to attach a nano to a pad so you can download stuff? What happened to making the consumer happy? Then you call to get answers and you get, sorry that's the way it is we can't help you. I have a box full of apple devices that aren't working or can't be upgraded, I just purchased a nano7 to replace my nano 4 ( the battery dead) this will be my last Apple product until they start standing behind there products like they use to. I have two old ipod classics ( 6 and 7 years old), an ipod nano, the original iphone, iphone 3gs, iphone 4, iphone 4s and an iphone 5. All still work just fine.

I just changed i Pads and i cloud was working great on all the devices I had it on including my PC now it just keeps asking me to verify my password and I know I have not made a mistake and I don't have ICloud on any of the devices at present help!!!!!

Have you set the questions/answers in the past ?
If you have and you know their answers then you should be able to answer them and make the purchase.
If you can't remember them and you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then steps 1 to 5 on the page that you posted from should let you reset them.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.

ATTENTION!! RECEIVED FRAUDULENT EMAIL PRETENDING TO BE APPLE!! I received an email informing of a purchase made on my account and telling me to change my password if did not purchase the item, which I had not. I have received valid emails from Apple in the past asking letting me know a purchase had been made and asking if I had made the purchase, but the item listed has alway been a purchase that I had made. Since I had received similar emails in the past, I didn't think anything of it. Because I had not purchased the item listed, I immediately clicked on the link in order to change my password, which has been suggested in authentic emails i had received from Apple in the past. The site I was redirected to was exactly the same as the Apple site where you go to change your password. I entered my userID and password and it stated a verification email would be sent, if it was not sent click "resend email." When I did not receive an email, after about 10 seconds I went to the Apple site and followed the SAME EXACT step on pages that were IDENTICAL to the FRAUDULENT website I apparently had just been at. When I clicked "Send verification email," I DID receive an email within seconds, which had a special link that brought me to a page where I could change my password, which I did. I later compared a legitimate email to the FRAUDULENT email and I DID FIND A DIFFERENCE, BUT IT WAS ALMOST UNNOTICEABLE unless you were really, really looking. I doubt it would be noticed by anyone if not comparing it closely to a real email. THE DIFFERENCE WAS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE AUTHENTIC EMAIL, THERE WERE THREE LINKS THAT COULD BE SELECTED - My Apple ID/Support/Privacy Policy. ON THE FRAUDULENT EMAIL THESE LINKS WERE NOT PRESENT!!! Just today I received an email from Apple stating my password had been changed today. I did not change my password today. When I changed after getting the fake email, I did not think about my SECURITY QUESTIONS!!! If you forget your Apple password, you are able to answer the security questions in place of your ID and you get a confirmation email. Even though I changed my password within a one minute when I did not get a confirmation email with a link to change my password right away and I went dierctly to Apple's site, apparently it was enough time to take all the information on my account - INCLUDING MY DEBIT CARD NUMBER, WHICH HAD BEEN REQUIRED WHEN I INITIALLY SET UP THE ACCOUNT!!! Today I received a call from VISA FRAUD PROTECTION asking about strange activity on my account and stating they were concerned and wanted to ensure I had used the account. I HAD NOT, AND ALL THE MONEY IN MY BANK ACCOUNT HAD BEEN STOLEN!!!!! I am writing this in hopes that many people will see it and NOT FALL VICTIM TO THIS SCAM. No need for alarm. There are several folks a day posting like threads. Most folks know these phishing attempts for what they are and merely delete with prejudice.
To the bottom line... if you wish - and I am sure Apple will take notice - you should FORWARD the email to [email protected] and delete.
