Have iPhone 5s setup on windows 7 machine and in iCloud. now have 15" macbook pro late 2013

I want to start using my macbook pro late 2013 loaded up laptop to start using my iphone 5s with. I have transferred all music and apps virtually everything is in the versionof itunes on laptop and has been authorized.
now how do I use it as when i plug phone in it sees it as mass usb storage ie.... i can transfer pictures not much else.
any help appreciated.

MacBook Pro late 2013 does not show login window after waking from sleep

MacBook Pro late 2013 does not always prompt for login, but opens directly to desktop, even though security settings are setup to prompt for password after 5 minutes. Up to now, this only has happened on battery, machine goes to sleep or lid is closed, 10 minutes pass, lid is opened and desktop is shown instead of lock screen. Console shows, that the machine was actually sleeping (10 min no log entries) and also does not show any error in regards to login window.
This behaviour occurs randomly and I could not track down any root cause/behaviour, yet. Sometimes everything behaves as it should.
Any ideas?

Count me in, I have the same issue, and from what I read here, it looks like a Yosemite/SSD related issue ?
I'm not 100% sure if it started when I put a SSD in my old iMac 2009 (as a fusion drive) or if that's after that when I upgraded to Yosemite...
I did disable auto poweroff like suggested in another thread : Mac freeze during the night sleep.
sudo pmset -a autopoweroff 0
We'll see if it helps.

How can i get safari bookmarks I save on my macbook pro late 2013 to not also go to my iphone 5s? I want to keep notebook and iphone seperate and I do use icloud for both for backups, etc.
New to the mac side but have had iPhones since the 3G. I did read post saying turn off icloud for safari on my iPhone but wouldn't that impact all my bookmarks I have on iPhone if I ever restore from icloud?

I would go so far as to say there is no reason or need for there to even be 32-bit version.
64-bit has better memory and graphic handling with whatever you have.

Windows 7 freezes on files copy operation on Macbook Pro 15" 2013 Late

Hi,
I use Windows installed via BootCamp on my Macbook Pro 15" 2013 Late with 512GB SSD. I installed all Apple drivers, but my laptop freezes(all windows stop responding) on a copy a lot of small files from one folder to another. After 2-5 min windows start responding again. I use Windows 7 with all upgrades.
SSD works good in Mac OS.
Seems Apple SSD drives in not work correctly under Windows.
Please help!

I have exactly the same Macbook Pro as yours but mine has the matte screen. I bought mine in September 2006 but it is classed by Apple as the 'early 2006' Macbook Pro because they released the 'late 2006' Macbook Pro in October 2006, a few weeks after I bought mine :@. I want to buy "Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended" but have to choose a platform (Windows OR Mac) during the buying process. When I buy Photoshop, I'm allowed to install it on a second Computer, but use just one copy at the same time.
Is it possible to install the same licence both with the Windows PC and a MacBook Pro with OS X on it?

a ps license allows either 2 pc or 2 mac installations. to install on both mac and pc, you must purchase two licenses, or subscribe to adobe cc which does allow 1 pc and 1 mac installation for all adobe programs.

Windows 7 and 8.1 drivers firmware - on MacBook Pro 15" early 2011

I have a MacBookPro8,2 1.0 - 15" - I purchased in March 2011. I have been using bootcamp 5.0 (upgrading now to 5.1) and running Windows 7.
Two questions:
1. what is the best way to know if I have the correct firmware and drivers for this computer?
2. and does bootcamp support windows 8.1? thunderbolt display... others

If you’re up-to-date with Software Update, then you have the correct firmware installed. If you’re running 32-bit Windows 7, then Boot Camp Support Software 4.0.4033 contains the correct drivers; if you’re running 64-bit Windows 7, then Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5621 contains the correct drivers. Which ever support software corresponds to your version of Windows 7, try downloading the corresponding .zip archive and following the installation instructions on the corresponding link above when booted in Windows.
Boot Camp 5.1 supports Windows 8.1 on your model MacBook Pro if you’re running OS X 10.8.3 or newer. Earlier versions of Boot Camp and older versions of OS X don’t support Windows 8.1 in Boot Camp on your model MacBook Pro.

Windows 7 (and Call of Duty 5) causes Macbook Pro to overheat and crash

Is this normal, the fans don't seem to kick in and then probably 10mins in I get a BSOD and memory dump.
The area near the lid is too hot to touch but the fans aren't on at all.
I'm guessing I'm pushing my little Macbook Pro too far?!

Turns out the fans aren't running on any version of Windows I install.
Decided to get rid of Windows altogether and stick to Mac games

Is it possible to install windows 8.1 on late 2013 macbook pro?
I have tried installing it twice but both of the time i got an error
Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration. Installation cannot proceed.

Maybe people have found a solution already but yesterday I managed to install Win 8.1 as a BootCamp on my new 15" retina MBP. I followed the steps John Guo described but with a couple of changes as his approach failed for me.
1. Make sure you are starting from a single partition.
2. Create the Windows install USB from the ISO and also allow BootCamp Assistant to create download the drivers - but untick the option to install windows.
3. Open Disk Utility and create a new partition and format as MS-DOS (FAT) rather than leave as free space.
4. Restart your Mac and use the option to boot into the Windows part of the USB not the EFI-boot.
5. Follow the install
6. When it comes to the drive selection select the FAT drive. Windows installer will say it cannot install here as it needs to be and NTFS partitiion (in previous atempts I always got the message to say the partitiion was using GUI partition table so could not install even though it was formatted to NTFS).
7. The format to NTFS should work fine and install proceed.
8. When the installer reboots the machine you will need to use the boot option to ensure you boot back into Windows.
9. Once installed the bootcamp driver install runs automatically and for me all drivers run fine even the NVIDIA, which I've seen some people mention having issues with.
I was inpressed with Windows automatically scaling the text to 200%, which meant it was using the full 2880x1800 resolution so everything was crisp but the windows and text was scaled nicely. I changed this 150% to give me some more real estate.
I'm guessing that by formatting the new partition as FAT it creates a MBP within the new drive that is writable by windows but I'm not a windows guru so this is a guess. But anyway, this work perfectly.

You can install Windows 8.1 using Boot Camp Assistant or by using a virtual machine like Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox.
