Have iPod Touch and want to view rented movies from iTunes on our TV
We have an iPod Touch. I rented movies from iTunes. We would like to connect the iPod to the television so the whole family can watch at the same time. We did a little research and was told to buy a "Eforcity Premium Retractable Apple iPod AV Composite Cable, White [Compatible with: iPod with Color Display / including iPod Photo / iPod Video (including U2 Special Editions of iPod Photo &Video)]" which we did. In our research it said in the instructions it said to access the "TV Out Video Setting". My husband can't find it and hence is unable to get it to work. Can anyone help? Thanks so much.
I don't think that cable is compatible with the iPhone or the iPod touch. I know the old Apple AV cable wont work with the iPod touch, you need either a Apple Composite AV Cable or an Apple Component AV Cable. See here for more info http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1454?locale=en_US.

You sync music the same way as on the Classic. What you sync to an iPod does not effect the iTunes library on your computer.

Do you have to have an internet connection to watch a rented movie from itunes?
I rented a movie from itunes and tried to watch in on a plane. But a message came up that itunes could not connect to the internet. I did not realize you had to have an internet connection to watch a rented movie. Is this correct?
I have experienced this on several occassions and after being unable to watch three of the six movies I rented from iTunes on the return leg of a six hour flight, I finally decided to explore a little more to determine how to "fix" this. I have yet to find a definitive answer but at this point I am 100% certain that you "need" an internet connection to watch a movie. If you have ever downloaded movies on your iPad and tried to BEGIN watching them in flight, imagine your frustration level when the "Content Not Authorized" message appears and you are SOL watching the back of the seat in front of you for six hours. On the initial leg of my West Coast trip, fearing this would happen, I started playing the three movies I might watch on the flight while in the terminal. This of course began the 24 hour countdown. I was rushed on the return leg and neglected to do this. Of course the three remaining movies could not be viewed because the "Content Not Authorized" message appeared. Upon landing however I was prompted to log into iCloud and sure enough the movies could be played.
While an internet connection is not required to view movies once they begin, there is clearly some form of authorization taking place and required before they can be played. If you wait until you are cruising along at 30,000 feet, you are SOL and heaven forbid you are on a New York to Seattle flight in the middle seat of a 737 with no in-seat entertainment. It makes for a very long 6.5 hours.
The abursdity of this is simply beyond my comprehension. Once you download and pay for the movie (transferred from PC), shouldn't the iPad somehow be intelligent enough to know when you started the movie using its own internal clock or something? Isn't the whole purpose of the iPad to enable me to screw off on a 6-hour flight watching movies and avoiding work? The apparent oversight here is simply impossible to understand given how frequently this must occur. Ten years from now every flight while be equipped with WiFi and this issue will be a thing of the past but what an incredible limitation of an amazing piece of technology. I would be willing to bet that if Jobs had ever been screwed out of $15 for three movies because "Content Not Authorized" appeared on his flight I wouldn't be posting this. -

You could have more 5 computers authorized if you ever, for example, reformatted a hard drive or replaced a hard drive without deauthorizing the computer first. Apple's system would see that as a different computer, even though you don't. There's nothing to be afraid of in deauthorizing everything and the reauthorizing what you actually have. You won't lose any data. Mistimp is correct, they can't tell you which computers are authorized. -

the only limits you'll face is if any of your iPod touch apps are for the iPhone only, they'll show up as tiny in the middle of the screen. There'll be a 2X button that'll allow you to zoom it up...some look better than others. All depends on how high resolution they are made.
Other apps will be in the app store with a + by them, those are universal and scale to fit the screen they are displayed on. Other apps you'll need to buy the iPad version. And you'll find some apps that are iPad only. -

thanks againYou can sync iOS apps from your compute's iTunes library to your iPod. An iPod will only run iOS apps/games. It will not run or even sync computer apps/games.

When you download iTunes material, does iTunes record the IP used where it is being downloaded to? I am trying to track a lost/missing IPOD Touch and want to know if they have that data. To restore app data, the apps have to be in the iTunes library of the computer on which you do the restore. The iPod ackup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.

Connect it to your computer and restore it as a new device. Then chose what music you want to sync with it and do so just like your Touch does.

I have an Ipod touch and recently added new music to my Itunes library. When I sync with the library, the new music does not show up on my ipod. The sync process seems to be working and there is still plenty of space on the Ipod for new music so I'm not sure what the problem is!

WIndows is asking you to reformat the iPod's hard disk because it's probably in the Mac OS X Extended Journaled file system format which the Windows OS can neither read or write to. Reformatting will erase all content from the device and rebuild the filesystem as FAT32 unless you specify it as NTFS (which you shouldn't do).
If you want to be able to use your iPod to copy music from your Mac to your PC, you'll need to either pre-format it as FAT32 using Disk Utility on your Mac and then copy everything over to your PC, or use third party software such as XPlay that allows a Windows PC to read and write to a Mac formatted iPod.

You'll need to connect it to the iTunes library you normally sync it with and restore it. If iTunes asks you for this passcode before it will let you proceed, connect the iPod to iTunes in recovery mode instead using the instructions in this Apple support document.
