Have ipod touch vers 4.2.1...using itunes 64-bit vers....error when connecting...Required software not installed...asks me to install 64-bit vers. Done everything possible

I am using an older ipod touch with version 4.2.1 software (newest available). I am using itunes 64-bit version 10.7 (newest). when trying to connect i get this error message...."This ipod cannot be used because the proper software is not installed. Install 64-bit itunes software." As mentioned 64 bit IS installed. Everything was working just fine a couple weeks ago.....no idea what happened! I have run all the troubleshooting guides mentioned by apple....uninstall, reinstall, reset ipod, etc.
No clue what is going on.....any possibility there is a "hidden" file within itunes that is causing this problem?

Yes...have done this numerous times.....even found some files that normal uninstall does not delete (.itl type).
This really weird because I have several other computers in the house that all work just fine. ALL run Windows 7, ALL have iTunes vers 10.7, ALL sync just fine.

No problem at all. The iPod charges with US voltage with is 5 VDC. The iPod limits charging current to prevent damage.
This "2.1 mAh" does not make sense. mAh is power,, I think you meant 2.1 Amps. That is likely an iPad charger which is fine for the iPod.

I downloaded the e-book The 80/10/10 Diet by Dr. Douglas Graham directly onto my old 4th gen iPod Touch from interviewthemasters.com a while back so my Purchases in iTunes 11 still shows no books available to re-download. _None_ of my iBooks content (e.g. bus route PDFs) show up _or_ seem to sync, even though I have Settings that all available apps sync their data _and_ back up into iCloud. I even got to a PC, downloaded iTunes, restored from my 4th gen's backup right onto my 5th gen, and still nothing in the way of my iBooks content, though the first time I pulled it up, I saw them on the shelf for a split second...>:-| What's going on? Why won't it propagate to my new device via iCloud? Nor can I find a way through iTunes 11 to get my content to my new iPod (yes, I have all authorized under the same Apple ID). Please help! All my annotations through iBooks are very valuable to me and I don't want to keep my old iPod and drag it out any time I want to reference my own notes on a book I bought! Am I to believe Apple cares nothing for my personal data unless it's through their store, and extends entertainment industry shenanigans to disable their own apps with _my_ content garnered elsewhere, _presuming_ it "must" be content which can be found on the store?! If so, how do I get control back of my own data? Apple used to say "tough" if you wanted to re-download purchases. Are personal effects like Notes and iBooks still a drop-stitch? I can't be the only person in this boat regarding cavalier ineptitude/negligence regarding basic functionality other than hooked into Apple's money machine.

To reiterate, the 80/10/10 book was purchased from interviewthemasters.com and worked perfectly as a e-book through iBooks including annotations, hilighting, etc. It never syncs to my machine _or_ iCloud, so I cannot try your recommendation regarding the iTunes Book library, unless you can explain how to get it from my iPod into iTunes. The fact Apple syncs only its store's content and disables syncing for my own independently procured content, particularly as the sole means of communicating with iPods, I find reprehensible and is a perfect example of screwing their customers and hobbling their devices for the supposed privilege of offering entertainment industry content since offered elsewhere far less restrictively and at higher quality (Spotify, anyone?). In any case, if anyone can explain how I can get my own book onto a different iPod, I'd love to hear from you—and no, I'm not anxious to use shady PC utilities, and those well-reviewed don't support anything but music and movies. I do not have access to a Mac, only my iPods and a PC, right now (I'm working on it! Trust me, aside from wholly unnecessary shenanigans, Apple offers a vastly superior product!).

IPod Touch, 1st generation, can't use iTunes or the App Store

I have an iPod Touch running iOS 3.1.3. All of a sudden, I can no longer buy music off iTunes or apps off the App Store because the "Install" or "Buy" buttons shrink to a very small size (see attached screenshot) and do not respond when pressed. I have re-booted the iPod twice with no affect.

If the iPod is working normally except for the Home button, depressing the Power button will turn it on.
Next connecting to charging source will turn it on.
If connected to a computer and iTunes sees it you can backup the iPod and restore another iOS device from that backup.

We did a little research and was told to buy a "Eforcity Premium Retractable Apple iPod AV Composite Cable, White [Compatible with: iPod with Color Display / including iPod Photo / iPod Video (including U2 Special Editions of iPod Photo &Video)]" which we did. In our research it said in the instructions it said to access the "TV Out Video Setting". My husband can't find it and hence is unable to get it to work. Can anyone help? Thanks so much.

I don't think that cable is compatible with the iPhone or the iPod touch. I know the old Apple AV cable wont work with the iPod touch, you need either a Apple Composite AV Cable or an Apple Component AV Cable. See here for more info http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1454?locale=en_US.

- A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

I have an iPhone5, and an iPad3 and my daughter has an iPod touch 4th generation and her and I have separate accounts. I backed them up to my PC to iTunes last evening as I do every few weeks. We both use the Do Not Disturb option. Quiet hours are from 9:30pm to 7:00am. The 3 devices always turned the Do Not Disturb on and off according to the schedule on their own. As of this morning, the Do Not Disturb did not turn off on any of the devices. I sync them with iCloud either manually or when charging them. The moon icon stayed on all day today and did not follow the schedule. I had to shut it off manually on my phone. Any thoughts. My daughter initially had used her iPod Touch under an Apple account I made with my information. When I got my iPad and then iPhone5 I created a different account for her. Some items of mine went on her iPod Touch yesterday when I backed them up on iTunes on my PC. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

It seems to be a glitch or bug. Its been officially acknowledged and addressed by Apple. There is no resolution other than waiting for a few days. The Kb article by Apple states it will fix itself on January 7.

After January 1st, 2013, Do Not Disturb mode stays on past its scheduled end time.
Resolution
Do Not Disturb scheduling feature will resume normal functionality after January 7, 2013. Before this date, you should manually turn the Do Not Disturb feature on or off.
To turn off the scheduling feature, tap Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb and switch Scheduled to Off.

I want to set up a separate icloud ID so that it is only on my new device. I still want to keep the same apple ID for purchases.
