Have lost sounds for some games e.g. Solitaire. Others are ok but keyboard sounds have also gone. Sounds are ok with earphones. Have checked settings and they seem ok. Any ideas, please?

Lost sounds In some games

Have you got notifications muted ? That will mute notifications (including games), so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, will still get sound.
If its an iPad Air 2 then notification mute and rotation lock are controlled via Control Centre : Turn on Mute and Orientation Lock on iPad Air 2 - Apple Support
If it's the first gen iPad Air then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via Control Centre : swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and it's the right-most of the 5 icons in the middle of it (if the icon is white then it's 'on', tap it to turn it grey and 'off'). The function that isn't on the side switch is set via Control Centre instead : About the iPad Side Switch - Apple Support

    Hi Friend,
Which kind of account are you using?
If you are using a business account (for example [email protected]) you must set POP account info properly, filling all the blank fields (name, email address, description, password, Host Name, user's name, SMTP). Just one field blanked causes error in sending/receiving.
If you are using a default account (iCloud, Yahoo!, Hotmail...), fill all the blank fields (Name, Email account, Password, Description) and sign in.
If not works, delete the account and sign in again
    Hope it will be helpful

    Simply restore from your backup.
You do have Time Machine running, yes?
Or you use some other backup program?

OK I just transitioned to MacMail, iCal, and Mac address book.  Goodbye Outlook, It was great for 18 years and painful for the last year.  Microsoft is losing share with subpar software development.

  • Since installing the dreadful IO6 the lock and keyboard clicks no longer work. I have checked settings and reset what should I do? Very disappointed with this upgrade.

Since installing the dreadful Io 6 my keyboard and lock no longer click. Have checked settings and reset what next? Ver disappointed with apple.

If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

There are two entirely different paths involved here; SMTP for send and either POP or IMAP receive.  Check your receive path.  Confirm username, password and the POP or IMAP server identity.  Also check directly with your mail provider, and ensure the POP or IMAP server is functioning and online, and the provider hasn't changed their particular POP or IMAP configuration requirements.

It sounds very very much like the battery. You will need to have it replaced. If you put the failing one in yourself you will need to pay as your Warranty is now void.

  • Having trouble captioning my photos ahving optimised and repaired the catalogue - any ideas please?

I'm having lots of difficulty captioning my photos in organiser and have repaired and optimized my catalogue - any ideas please?

Try adding captions via the properties panel. Right click on your first thumbnail and choose Show Properties from the bottom of the context menu.
You can enlarge the panel by dragging the bottom right corner. Make sure you are using the general tab. Enter your text in the caption field, then use the right arrow key to move to the next thumbnail.
It’s an alternative way of adding captions which uses less memory than opening images full screen.

  • 10.4.7 and Safari lock ups - Any ideas please?

    Hi all,
I installed the 10.4.7, iTunes and Quicktime updates and have found Safari to be freezing (not responding) on random sites. I did get an odd message on the first attempt of downloading, which I have never seen before - 'Download timed out' - I redownloaded them and they installed without any other problems. I have run the permissions and emptied caches via Onyx Automation and manually cleaned the Safari cache. I haven't noticed any other abnormalities in the system other than Safari regularly not responding, although, I have not used many other apps since the upgrade. I'm currently using Firefox, which running like it should. This is the first time I have experienced any glitches with updates since the Java fiasco in 10.3.9.
Any input and advice is most welcome and will be greatly appreciated. My next step is to reset Safari.
    Any other ideas please?
    Thanks in advance.
    SR

Silly rabbit, create a new account, name it "test" and see how your apps work in that User acct? (That will tell if your problem is systemwide or limited to your User acct.) This account is just for test, do nothing further with it.
Open System Preferences >> Accounts >> "+" make it an admin account.
Let us know and we'll troubleshoot this further.
EDIT: Never mind, I hadn't seen Sherry already suggested that.

Slow down and write clearly. What you're writing doesn't make sense. You need to write exactly what the problem is, and make understandable. Otherwise, no one will respond to you help request.
This (I May have found solution in 7 Mac start u options every os x user should know on a forum , gives recovery mode etc I had started to try to download yosemite again but that's what was taking forever! So I stopped it going to try the 7 options listed if not appointment at Genius - note to all back up your work, pictures etc I will be debased if they cannot recover them...) is slang. • I recently reinstalled Acrobat 8.1.  When I try to check for updates, it says that there's no internet connection.  I have checked settings and firewall.  No issues.  What's wrong?

I recently reinstalled Acrobat 8.1 after a crash.  I wanted to check for updates but encountered the message that no internet connection was found, to check the internet settings or the firewall.  There are no issues with either.  Obviously, I have an internet connection.  How do I resolve this issue?

    Hello Coldwater Card,
Please try the following steps and let us know if this fix your issue :
Operating system hosts files map host names to IP addresses. An incorrectly configured hosts file can affect your computer's ability to connect to Adobe's activation servers.
Follow these steps to see if there is a problem with your hosts file and to reset it if necessary.
    Click this link.
If you see two Adobe logos, then you have access to the activation servers. Try activating or starting your software.
Still have problems? Go to the next step.
Start an internet browser, such as Firefox or Internet Explorer, and go to:
    CS5.5: https://activate.adobe.com/test
    CS6 and later: https://lm.licenses.adobe.com/gdf/status.jsp
If you see a test successful message (see screenshots below), then you have access to the activation servers. Try activating or starting your software.
    CS5.5: Test successful
    CS6 and later: Test successful
Still have problems? Proceed to Step 3. Reset the hosts file.
    Reset the hosts file:
NOTE: You may have to disable you security software to modify your hosts file.
    Windows
Choose Start > Run, type %systemroot% \system32\drivers\etc, and then press Enter.
Right-click the hosts file and select Open. Select Notepad for the application to open the hosts file.
Back up the hosts file: Choose File > Save As, save the file ashosts.backup, and then click OK.
Search the hosts file for entries that reference activate.adobe.com (for example, 127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com) and delete these entries.
    Save and close the file.
    Mac OS
Log in as an administrator to edit the hosts file in Mac OS.
In a Finder window, choose Go > Go To Folder.
    Type /etc.
Select the hosts file and open it.
Back up the hosts file: Choose File > Save As, save the file ashosts.backup, and then click OK.
Search the hosts file for entries that reference activate.adobe.com (for example, 127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com) and delete these entries.
    Save and close the file.
